National List MP Dr. Jayampathy Wickramaratne PC is to be appointed as the Parliamentary Secretary at the Prime Minister’s office.
Dr. Jayampathy Wickramaratne
The position has been created by the Cabinet, and Wickramaratne, a lawyer by profession is set to take up the new position shortly.
However, Wickramaratne is yet to be officially informed of his new appointment, the Colombo Telegraph learns

What does the post of “Parliamentary Secretary at the Prime Minister’s office” entail in terms of subjects to be handled, duties and responsibilities, and perks and benefits?
Does this mean, that the Marxisit/Trotskite LSSP “majority group” leader Dr.Jayampathy Wickramaratne will be serving on the staff of neo-liberal Ranil Wickrmesinghe’s office staff. Isn’t he a Memebr of Parliament? Does this mean his party has joined the UNP? Do the members of his party group approve him taking up this appointment? I hope they issue a statement clarifying matters to the public.

Dr. J. Wickremaratne had been a pain in the neck for the govt. because
he was attacking everything what was wrong with Govt. administration, relentlessly,so a position was created at people expense to silence him. Wonder why a ministerial position was not given to him earlier as he is lawyer, educated and a capable man,compared to some school drop outs in the cabinet.
If the govt. is going to spend people’s money to silence critics, by
offering lucrative positions,where will we end up financially,is the

There is sinhala stage drama in Sri Lanka titled “Horu Samaga Heluwen”(Naked with Thieves). Now, we can slightly modify that title as “Ranil Samaga Heluwen”(Naked with Ranil).
