In a new twist to the ongoing battle between Health Minister Rajith Senaratne and Avant Garde boss Nissanka Senadhipathi, another recorded telephone conversation surfaced today which claims that Senaratne refused to accept and in fact had returned Rs. 5 million which was given to him allegedly by Senadhipathi.

The Lanka e news web site yesterday carried a story with a recorded telephone conversation which the website says was between Senadhipathi and Senaratne’s Secretary Dr. Sayuru Samarasundera.
In the conversation Senadhipathi says Samarasundera had accepted Rs.5 million on behalf of Senaratne.
In the new recorded telephone a person identified as Samarasundera tells Senadhipathi that Rajitha Senaratne had refused the latter’s money and asks him to take it back.
This conversation,has been posted as evidence to prove that Senaratne had not accepted money from the Avant Garde boss.
Dr. Senaratne is currently on an official visit overseas.
When contacted by Colombo Telegraph Rajitha’s son, Chathura Senaratne MP, denied claims that his father had accepted money from the Avant Garde boss.
Meanwhile attempts to contact Dr.Samarasundera and Senadhipathi failed. While Samarasundera’s phone was switched off, a close aide to Senadhipathi said that he was unavailable.

This 5mn ‘gave and returned’ seems like a futile attempt avantgarde style to discredit Dr. Seneratne. Whoever who is keen on Discrediting Dr. Seneratne should use something other than this bribe story. If they manage to convince us that Dr. Is guilty based on that fresh attempt then we will believe it.
Some have said it, we all know how avantgarde throws bribes and imports Ukrainian young women to deceive the people and rob the country. Unbelievable that Mrs. Jayaratne was involved in this racket. But makes sense, earn extra bucks from visas to Ukrainians.

Based on the little information avail the interaction was between Nissanka and the Min. Sec. so as this is the normal process in SL politics the Sec. could have accepted it but as the Min. refused it was returned.
Still there is a problem in that giving bribe is a crime as is taking and this should have been reported.
No Surprises but you still ask yourself a question. “How dirty is Sri Lankan Politics”? “Could it ever be cleaned”?

SL has all the values you have mentioned. Just because some people abuse it does not mean that we can use it as an excuse. Minister aside, as you said the bribe giver and taker should be penalized. Who is Senadhipathy anyway? An ex servant of the army turned business man. How credible are his dealings, business, personal? Why does he go around threatening people of authority? Deal itch that first and then with the minister, others etc. From what I gathered from the recording, he is afraid of the media publicity. Interesting. And why are politicians, parties, doctors all afraid of him?

Anyone foolish enough to think only Avant Garde spent its money on bribes to politicians? I have been witness to occasions when bags of money were delivered to multiple politicians of all major parties. They all demand it, and take it under the guise of election expenses. And, these payments are by established publicly traded companies who have a fiduciary duty towards its shareholders.
How is Avant Garde able to draw 5M from ‘Chairman’s current account’ without any explanation or query to the Inland Revenue service? Why is there a ‘chairmans current account’ if not for bribes and shady expenses?

Rajitha getting Rs 50 million payments from time ti time, Wijedasa Rajapakse getting Rs 300 million, that should be common among politicians.
Central Bank scandal also should be one preplanned in order to get money for the election and Ranil rewarded that person in the party who initiated it.
I don’t think, except for a few small fish, they would prosecute any of these politicians. IT is the one who offered is wrong, politicians are allowed to get any amount of money from out side which increase the cost of living in Sri lanka, and the GDP goes down because of the money is stolen and under the table.

According to the latest development now it is clear that the money 5m has been given to some one to be given to another.An offence committed by the giver and the taker.The gentlemen who is said to have refused to accept it,should have reported this to authorities,enabling the investigators to commence an investigation by impounding the cash 5m as the Production in the case instead of instructing the taker to return it back.Now we can understand whether other gentlemen are talking the truth or not on the same allegation leveled against them.The explanation of some gentleman at a media conference in reply to Field Martial’s’statement looks low graded and putrid.We respect the Field Martial who talks no nonsense.

The plot thickens.
Damage control has gone on to overdrive. First the recording accepting the bribe. In that Senadipathy is aggressivly asking the pitiable Sayuru if he gave the money to his boss or pocketed it himself. Sayuru vehimently insists that he gave it to his boss Rajitha Senaratne.
Damage control now releases a counter recording that Rajitha had refused the money. Why didn’t Sayuru say so to Senadipaty in the first recording.
The plot thickens and thickens. We the citizen is being taken for a ride all along.

As per voice clips on Dr Senaratnes Face book page It is clear that Senadhipathi has offered 5M to Rajitha. It is also clear Rajithas secratary had accepted and the money (and apparently returned it.)
During this conversation it is interesting to note that Senadhipathy speaking ON BEHALF OF THE UNP and say ‘ now Rajitha is the biggest enemy of UNP’. The inference being that Senadhipathy had ‘covered’ UNP from investigating them.
It is also reprted by Navy spoksman that Navy is loosing 290 Million an year due to Avant Garde handling these works. This is the loss to GOSL or realistically tax payers money.
In other words the money Senadhipathy uses for bribing etc are SRI LANKAN TAX PAYERS MONEY and certain politicians are blocking these investigations. He is trying to justify his actions stating 4000 will loose their jobs.
This is the reality.

There is no 5 million bribe as it turns out. However, in the original sound clip between Samarasundara and Senadhipathi it is revealed that 300 million was also given to Wijedasa. Also the Enews guys seem to be beneficiaries of Avant guard goodies. They are now claiming to Rajitha that there is no national security threat from Avant Guard and that some how MS has ulterior motives for taking it over. According to them MS has no right even though he is the commander in chief of the armed forces to take over a private company. As if this is just another mundane private company nothing to see here move on seems to be the premise of these scoundrels. It is evident that the president was deceived into allowing the signing of a new contract with Avant Guard. It is also evident that when this news leaked out those who knew the inside story of who received money from them for services rendered went ballistic at which point PM and president took action to resind the contract and take over this private armory pareding as a private company. Not a national security threat my foot. Also Senadhipathi and GR had a close friendship after Senadhipathi bought one of GR’s investment properties in California for a huge mark up. That it seems is how Avant Guard got started. So Senadhipathi’s loyalties are first and formost to the Rajapakshes. That alone is enough to take it over as a national security threat because that exactly is what it was always intended to be in case the Rajapakshes lost power. This saga is proof of it.

This guy is making a relentless efforts to destroy the Avant Grade business. Instead of doing his job as a Minster of Health, he is trying to be a prosecutor and the judge and destroy the lucrative business run by the ex. servicemen. If the management personnel in the company have violated the laws, it is up to the police and the attorney general to prosecute the personnel involved not by this guy. Now we know, he didn’t get paid enough from the Avant Grade so he is taking revenge to destroy the company by depriving jobs for many people and foreign exchange coming to the country. When the guy was in charge of the fisheries ministry, in MR administration, we lost EU certification to export the fish to the EU. As a result fisherman lost jobs and country lost much needed foreign exchange. Also during the guy’s tenure, over 50 fisherman lost lives in the sea due to a violent storm because they were not informed severe weather condition. If the president is allowed this guy and his son to continue in this manner, the so called yahapalanya will end-up in hell.
