The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) expresses deep concern at the reports of the heavily tense situation after a mosque, several hotels and vehicles belonging to Muslims in Ampara were attacked by mobs leading to major tensions in the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

While expressing its concern, the OIC stresses the need to protect the rights of the Muslim minority, foremost of which is the right to observe their religious practices without harassment or any direct or indirect breaches and to earn their livelihoods and conduct their business under full protection of the law.
In this context, the OIC Secretary General calls on the Government of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to proceed expeditiously with an investigation of such abuses and to ensure the safety and security of the Muslim minority while practicing their religious rights in accordance with all relevant international human rights conventions and instruments.

As in anything, SL and its mentality might not have changed since 1983, but the rest of the world is different. The world started to see SL in a different angle, overall, the world sees with lots of suspicions if SL is a good place for minorities to live, the world sees SL as cruel nation with HR violations, deprived minority rights and a nation that discriminates minorities – some of the views might not be that widespread on the grounds, but Tamil issues., now the violence against Muslims are adding fuel into how SL is seen from outside.

Yes they framed her as she was not an Arab but a South Asian Muslim. When poor innocent Rizana tried to claim that Sri Lankan Muslims are of Arab descent , so should be treated like the locals , they came back and stated they are not but South Asian converts to Islam, meaning descended from Tamil Hindu ancestors who converted to Islam. To make matters worse the Saudis organised a Malayalee to defend her and his Tamil was poor. Malyalee may be very close to Tamil and its daughter language but it is still a different language and unless you are very good with Tamil and very familiar with the Malayalee accent, you will find it hard to comprehend. Poor Rizana who wad from rural eastern province only speaking her own form of Tamil , could not understand him. The Saudis saw that the case was doomed from the start, they framed her , stitched her up and killed her. Where was compassion? leave alone killing a poor innocent fellow Muslim. They were racist to the core, as she was not an Arab but just a poor South Asian menial , who had come to do be a domestic slave and deserved no more. They are cruel towards their own fellow Arabs in Yemen and do not care about the Arab Syrians or Iraqis , even the Palestinian. Or others. If the Saudi’s executed one of their own for flouting the Sharia Law of that country for the offence of adultery etc., that is their business, But they certainly had no right to execute SL’s poor minor Muslim girl whose age was misrepresented forVisa purposes by her Muslim Visa agent with state connections who cheated and gained his blood money.
Because of her poverty her elders may have permitted her to do that to obtain a visa.
But that fact it was not revealed by the Malayalee lawyer who represented Rizana at her court trial may not have adressed that as a valid point due to the fear of double jeopardy for his poor minor client Rizana.
What the said lawyer could have done to save her in the desperate circumstances he was placed was to was to have an adjournment and met the judge or judges privately in chambers and revealed the said point as a reason for him to not represent her any longer .
The case would have collapsed and his client saved.
That could have happened only if he had valid instructions from his client. But here in this case he himself a foreigner was representing a minor fa foreign minor at that without her adult guardian in a serious case with her life in his hands.
Sri Lankan minor Rizana’s case-is indeed tragic because of mismanagement.

But armies and armies of Middle Easterners, who knew the truth, were flocking & blocking all the Western borders seeking refuge to escape from the sibling carrying out murders.
