Pictures: Who Will Get The Rolls Royce Ghost Cars After The CHOGM ?

By Colombo Telegraph

“Who will get the Rolls Royce Ghost cars after the Commonwealth Heads of State Meeting? Bet the Rajapaksa clan is at the head of the queue and the poor tax payer and money set aside for development of the land will be utilized to run these cars for the rest of their days” an anonymous, widely circulated email asks and predicts.

Meanwhile, the United National Party (UNP) Friday urged the government to investigate the import of a ‘Rolls Royce Ghost’ luxury vehicle.

UNP parliamentarian and economist Harsha De Silva told a news conference that the entire transaction needed to be investigated because of the discrepancy between the price listed by the Rolls Royce Company and the price stated in the Customs declaration.

“The Customs has released the car after a payment of Rs.61 million by way of taxes on the declaration made by the importer that the luxury vehicle cost only US$175 000. But the Company says otherwise. It states that the Rolls Royce Ghost car costs nearly US$350 000, which means that the tax has to be twice the amount paid. We are not complaining or saying that anyone has stolen anything, what we are asking is for a transparent investigation into the matter,” Dr. De Silva said.

Our precious foreign exchange is mainly earned by poor maids by not only sacrificing the integrity but also their lives.please learn from south Korea.they also exported labour decades ago but with forogn exchange they developed the country.the south Korean economy is thriving.in Sri Lanka everything is politics. The politicians should realize that they have to pay one day for all the misdeeds may be even in the next birth.Sri Lanka is the most hypocritical country I have seen.karma will catch up with you some times even in the next birth.that’s for sure.

Das. Understand your sentiments. The politicians never realise that one day they will have to pay for their misdeeds. Our politicians though visit temples and bodhiyas just for propagandan never believe in religion or follow any religion. They have no conscience. Their aim is to exploit public money to the maximum level. The people are paying now for their misdeed of not electing proper politicians. We have to solace ourselves thinking about the effect of karma. The problem lies with the people. They never protest against any misdeeds of politicians. Our people are not concerned with rule of law, transparency or at least democracy. They are interested only in material gains

Be assured UNP, that this too might be dismissed as a cost to your party. What independence do we have to celebrate tomorrow. None.

Why dont we give the visiting dignitaries a taste of Bukky Karaththey. It is indigenous, novel and goes along the aspirations of ones like Weerawansa the (pseudo) patriot. It will create jobs, retain foreign exchange in SLK, and at the end the factory will get foreign orders by the thousand. I bet it would be a historic CHOGM with newsworthy pictorials.

The idea to import this particular car must have definitely come from car-crazed siblings in the local Kings Family, to boost the ego of
visiting UK Royals, even if the CHOGM is shifted.

With 60 rupees per litre of Petrol ( I think this Ghost still needs a better supreme variety)………and 4 miles per litre……which Ghost can afford to drive this.

We already have enough ghosts in the Parliament and could hire some of them to pull this sucker around diyawanna river at night ride charging from people at rupees 200 per ride.

ONLY WAY TO RECOVER THE COST IS ROLLS ROYCE GHOST GON KARATTE PULLED BY PARLIAMENT MP SUCKERS AT 200 RUPEES PER RIDE.

Who say the Ghost was brought for CHOGM……… Infact since Queen has gone in enough of Rolls Royce….she would have like to go in our own native transport which is the Gon harak Bakki Karatta (Bullock Cart) and we have enough of them in our Parliament.

Who is the mad ass to order a RR Ghost in January for the CHOGM in November…..spending 350,000 CIF Dollars……This is a mere rumor and to dupe public..

This is for Maha Raja siblings to have back seat fun near Parliament Diyawanna river……..”Heaven is the back seat of my Rolls Royce”

ONLY IF BIG BOSS COULD HIRE IT TO PUBLIC AT 500 RUPEES PER HOUR…BY THE SIDE OF DIYAWANNA RIVER.

I know Dr.Harsha brought up the issue with charging less than half taxes for Rolls Royce Ghost where we loose over 80 million rupees of tax money due to charging much less taxes.

I want to know if anybody is following with this crook importer to recover the balance taxes.

From the Island newspaper – 5th February (day after Independence) on when the last King of Kandy was caught by the people. Note the last paragaraph.

Though surprising, at the time of his capture, king Sri Wickrema Rajasinghe is described as not having a suitable attire even to take him to Colombo, according to the following diary entry: “As the king is entirely without suitable or even decent apparel (which has been sent for but has not yet arrived) and the afternoon has been rainy, he has not set off on his journey.

“Much valuable property belonging to the king and the royal family is said to have been plundered by the Kandyans who seized him and he complains of the insulting language and ill-treatment experienced from them, but otherwise, shows no symptoms of hurt feelings or depression at his fate.”

Such is the fate of the Kings (which will come eventually) who plunder their people’s rights, hopes, aspirations for petty personal benefits.

If you read Sri Lanka history ( not the fake Maha Sinhale Samayama Wansa Kathawa)…..you will read many Kings have ruled only for one month, three months and six months etc. I know there was a king who ruled ONLY FOR ONE DAY. I had this booklet on “Sri Lanka’s kings” when I was studying history.

Also many kings have been killed by their own family members, siblings and relatives.

BEWARE THE OTHER KINGS AND F…C……..KINGS.

The civilised and proper thing to do is to announce a tender by
a competent State department (such as the equivalent of the earlier Govt Stores Dept) allowing sufficient time for bidders to send in their offers on properly prepared forms. The business must be advertised in most of the main daily newspapers in all 3 languages.
The decision to award should be made by a Technical Committee of experts from different government depts. (Finance, Trade, Audit etc)
The emphasis should be transparency and accountability.

But will this be done in the culture obtaining today?

Its amazing to see how false rumours can actually be used by some people for the wrong purpose.
This Rolls Royce has been brought into the country by a Company and it belongs to no individual or the Common Wealth summit. Pls. stop circulating stupid stories.
Its a simple story where the most prestigious brand in the World finally comes to Sri Lanka. It has to be celebrated as a great event not going through all these stupid stories made up by ignorant people who don’t know any information about all this.

      Sanujitha,

Could you please name this Company which imported this Rolls Royce Ghost?

I hope you know that Raja Paula owns many of these Phony companies registered under many different names affiliate to Raja Paula.
Go and check Colombo Stock exchange to see how stocks are traded under many phony business names, many related to Raja Paula.

The Australian phony Company who bought Embilipitiya Paper Corporation has given a polla to a Leading bank for a whopping 450 million rupees ran away without paying a single penny.

Why this Phony Company altered the cost of this Rolls Royce original cost and gave a boot to Customs by not paying additional Tax of closer to 100 million rupees….

Also last year Govt. allowed 8 limousines to enter, and by not paying proper taxes Sri Lanka lost whopping 480 million rupees.
      Pl. read the following web.

      http://www.island.lk/index.php?page_cat=article-details&page=article-details&code_title=72080

While allo these corruptions are taking place Maha Raja was humble enough to Chase CJ Dr.Shirani Bandaranayake saying she got a discount of Rupees 1.5 million for the house her sister purchased sending Foreign currency Australian Dollars…….Maha Raja says he took the decision according to his Conscious and heart.

All I could say is Maha Raja is nothing but a cunning fox trying to lead a fake double life, now going to Bothgaya for another cunning stunt.

If you have time please check the roots of these phony companies and let us know where their roots are.

Reader Sanujitha might be told RR Silver Cross and other RR models have come into Sri Lanka in recent years – legally after paying due Customs duty etc. There was one in the premises of the Colombo Hilton (White) which I was told was open for hire.

If the Queen comes at all, she usually brings her own transport in her plane.

In this particular case, it is perfectly legal for someone to bring one provided due State Revenue was collected. Or was it one of the 7,000 odd luxury vehicles Ravi Karunanayake charged in Parliament Govt favourites had imported paying officially Rs.1 million each as Customs Duty. He says Rs12 billion was lost to Govt revenue and hints one or several persons privately stole the balance through fraudulent means ???
