Plan B For Northern PC Polls

Colombo Telegraph understands that the Mahinda Rajapaksa Government is discussing an alternate plan in the event that it is unable to pass the amendment to the 13th Amendment it is contemplating. This is due to reports it has received that the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress and the left parties would not support the amendment.

According to our sources, the SLMC’s delegates’ conference had decided last year that the party should not support and negative changes to the 13th Amendment. “We are bound by the decision of the delegates’ conference” an SLMC official told Colombo Telegraph on the condition of anonymity.

On Saturday, the Central Committee of the Communist Party decided not to support the amendment and on Sunday, the Central Committee of the Lanka Sama Samaja Party also decided similarly.

Our sources stated that although the Government rushed the Registration of Electors (Special Provisions) Bill through the Supreme Court and the Bill was to be tabled as an urgent Bill last week, it was instead referred to a standing committee. If the Government is unable to obtain a two-thirds majority, three voters of the Northern Province (a Tamil, a Sinhalese and a Muslim) are expected to challenge the holding of elections to the Northern Provincial Council. The Government is confident that the Supreme Court would issue a stay order preventing the holding of an election. The election would then be postponed until the CHOGM Conference is over.

Looks like there are some real politicians, whi are nor affected by the maras of Monk Mahanam Myths.

This bloody mess is due to LSSP and CP selling out their Egalitarian principles to the racists and chauvinists in the 1970’s.

Let us home that at least some politicians with principles are left.

Let’s hope not all are shills.

Myths are really dangerous. It kills and destroys.

Why did God allow Myths to perpetuate?

Scheming rather than governance is increasingly becoming the hallmark of this government. Rasputin-likes seem to have gained ascendency and are apparently in much favour. The end they desire is more important than the means they resort, no matter these means destroy the very basis of the existence of a civilized society.

            Native Veddah,

It appears this regime has gone beyond the pale. They have to go. I cannot think of a way in which they can be forced to go. We may have to wait for the next presidential elections to do the trick, provided that bigger tricks are not deployed to subvert an overwhelming vote. The bigger question is who will replace this bunch? I do not see anything even marginally better on the horizon. We may end up choosing a bigger devil. This has been the general downward trend in our political history. A very sad situation. However, unforeseen changes do take place, when the time is ripe. This is a lesson history teaches me. That time appears to be approaching fast.

Now you know how alienated youth in the 1960s and 70s took to arms in order to make a change and they themselves became tyrant of the worst kind.

Apart from a small section of chattering middle class do you see any deep resentment among the ordinary working class poor? If you don’t then there is 100% chance that you won’t see any changes after the next election.

Does the majority really care about the state of the state?

              Native Veddah,

There is fairy deep and widespread resentment among the ordinary folk about the cost of living, the profligacy of the ruling cum political elite, corruption and the high handed and unethical manner in which the government is countering democratic dissent. The CJ Shirani Bandaranayake issue and the recent steep hike in power tariffs have added fuel to fire. The CJ issue and the manner in which she was dealt has touched a deep chord in the ordinary folk

On the Tamil side, the debate swirling around the 13th amendment is not a major concern of the ordinary folk, as were the issues in the 1970s. The post-war circumstances yet dictate the primacy of survival and recovery issues. However, it is a issue that at this point in time-four years after the war- is of (& should be of) concern to the Tamil political leadership and intellectuals. Devolution of power to the periphery and power-sharing at the center with the periphery, are necessary developments in the context of the whole island. The ever increasing thirst for unbridled power by the center and its misuse, make the devolution cum power-sharing democratic development a vital necessity.

MR who promised a 13th amendment plus with many innovations, is trying to now do away with the toothless 13th amendment itself, without presenting alternatives. What makes the whole exercise nauseating is that he has lied to all and sundry and is now orchestrating the whole thrust. he is patently trying to manufacture a non-existent Sihhala-Buddhist public opinion, even at the risk of rendering asunder the growing post-war relationship between the Sinhala and Tamil communities at various levels. This is anti-national brinkmanship of the worst kind, so soon after three decades of devastation precipitated by similar vileness in the post-independence decades.

“he is patently trying to manufacture a non-existent Sihhala-Buddhist public opinion, “

This was supposed to be the “Southern Consensus”

The noisy Southern Minority (The Core Sinhala/Buddhists Racists)comes handy whenever politicians want to scuttle reasonable devolution of power.

On the whole I am willing to buy your observation.

              Dr.Narendran,
You say”you do not see anything even marginally better on the horizon” Is’nt that the same as ‘we have the best available’for the moment?and the possibility of ending up with a worst devil than the known one, why force the issue by pushing to change when there is no alternative?
The TNA by making unrealistic demands with the LTTE diaspora is further tieing MR’s hands. What everyone who demands this or that does not seem to realise is,his own political survival. It is as same as Eelam stupidity to expect him to give Eelam in another name under 13A.
Yes,he made promises. politicians make promises, and some they never intend to keep.Rajive Gandhi promised to disarm all rebels when the 13A was introduced after signing the Indo-SL accord in 87 but he failed to keep up to his promise. He tried but failed.
Today, the problem is for some priorities have mixed up. Today the priority is to uplift the living standard of the people of north. That is the priority of the people and not the TNA.
The TNA’s priority is to get as much power as possible before poeple get anything, because, they know they may not get even elected to power if the poeple get what they need. So,as the LTTE held these people as a human shield, the TNA is holding them to ransom for them to get to power.
I think the provincial councils in this country died a natural death once the Eelamists tried to get their Eealm through 13A.

It is a true dilemma. We have made choices before, that have proven to be worse than the previous and we have paid the price. I wish there was a choice. However, it appears that change is coming fast, regardless of whether it will be what is needed.

              Samson,

The comments on articles in the Internet, do not reflect public opinion , although on occasions they are pointers to the direction winds are blowing. There is a lot of grumbling in the country. There is ‘ silent’ revolution brewing, how this will manifest is yet hard to discern, given that there is no individual or party around which it can crystallise. MR and his fortunes are definitely on the decline. He has lost the plot and his marbles.

          Dear friend Native Veddah:

Sad to learn your cousin Rajapakse Mudiyansalage Premadasa (70)
Veddah Kapurala of Sivan Temple at Valli Kukai (Cave) in Sella Kadirgama was brutally hacked to death on June 04. There is talk of regular drinking binge etc What is the inside story. Who did it and why?

Speculation is strife this is part of a an extremist campaign to destroy all Saivite evidence from the Kadirgamam area.
Simultaneously comes the story the Kadirgamam Festival – normally held from July 08-22 has been artbitrarily changed by the Sinhala Kapuralas to August 07-26 without any info to the Tamils or the Hindu Ministry. If this was done after several hundreds of Hindu devotees commenced their padayatra from Jaffna and Kilinochchi this will be ugly. Poor form, dear boy. Is the mono theocratic State already here?

The regime is moving heaven and earth to prevent the TNA from winning the NPC election. These seem to be moves of utter desperation as much is at stake where India and the International Community are concerned. There must be some big reason for this madness? They seem to fear that the Tamil people in the North will develop ahead of their expectations.

You must be thinking from your REAR END if you are to say “you are with him and you trust him?” MR, his family and his henchman are doing anything and everything to be in power for ever in Sri Lanka and loot the country and enjoy the best of life, they do not care for minorities or even majority? their only motive is to stay in power forever? Neither they care for Sri Lanka nor for Sinhalese and Buddhism? His eight years in power has already proven this, The family has become the rich-most family in south Asia? Do you know the amount of property GOTA owns in SL now? He is only one example? there are hundreds like that? But we poor public cannot afford even a decent meal per day? This month every one has received double the electricity bill? Yet guys like you “STUPID IDIOT” cannot still understand this fact and you say “you are with him and you trust him?” This government run by MR & GOTA has already ruined and destroyed the country to irreparable levels, TOTAL ANARCHY? Army, Police, Courts, Justice system everything under their sole control as per their whims and wishes? Supreme courts decisions are passed in temple trees? Murderers, dangerous criminal and drug lords are released and bailed out, Innocent people are faked arrested under fabricated charges? DIG’s involving in contract killings? Country’s Defense Secretary Supporting the criminals and racist groups openly and shamelessly? DO YOU AGREE AND APPRECIATE ALL THIS? IF SO YOUR BRAIN MUST BE IN YOU ASS HOLE?

There is no need for court challenges as a Plan B.

President is giving the Left Over Lefties (to borrow from that learned Professor) and the minority part leaders a free hand to vote on whether to give LTTE proxy Sambandan the Police and Powers and the titles to Govt land or not.

If they do agree for Sambandan’s demands and vote with the UNP there wouldn’t be any problem before the CHOGM meet.

It is after the CHOGM that the shit will hit the fan, when CM Premachandran put his put down and start building his Eelaam.

Then the President can go to the inhabitants and hold a referandum to ask whether they want the PCs or not.

Surely the Diaspora IC can’t find any fault with that, could they?.

“President is giving the Left Over Lefties (to borrow from that learned Professor) and the minority part leaders a free hand to vote”

Indeed the President is well known for his democractic principles and definately not corruption, nepotism and grandiosity. Percy and his brothers are men of honour and definately would not stoop to agitate the sinhala masses via the bodu sena or use their ultra-nationalist allies to protest on their behalf.

“a free hand to vote on whether to give LTTE proxy Sambandan the Police and Powers and the titles to Govt land or not.”

Are you mad about this LTTE proxy because he is not boot-licking your war criminal President like the former LTTE proxies KP, Col Karuna and Daya Master? As Mahinda cannot win the northern election fairly despite the complete military annihilation of the LTTE and massive security presence, he therefore is showing his democractic ways by attempting to either postpone the election or make the northern province meaningless. I fully support this decision by the President because the 13th amendment is India’s obsession therefore anything that can cause an even bigger rift between Mahinda and Mohanmohan should be welcomed.

“It is after the CHOGM that the shit will hit the fan, when CM Premachandran put his put down and start building his Eelaam.”

We need to welcome the continuing stupidity of the Mahinda faithful in viewing the 13th amendment as leading a path towards separatism as opposed to viewing it as a model which fundamentally acknowledges the unitary nature of the Sri Lankan state (which is why the LTTE were determined to destroy it).

Again the 13th Amendment is India’s baby and has a personal resonance for Sonia Gandhi due to the feeling that Rajiv died for its implementation. Therefore any attempt by Percy to destroy, weaken and undermine this Amendment should be used intelligently by the TNA to bolster their ties with India and the West in preparation for the next American resolution at the UNHRC which should hopefully have more teeth once the Indians get on side

Also a referendum whether we will pay back the loans with exorbitant interest to China for all the white elephants in hambantota. If the people say no we can say to china,go to hell these are not generating any revenue and if you had not lavishly given money, our future generations need not pay and pay till they die,so the people have spoken at a referendum ,so now go and have a bath.Probably one day the UNP can hold a referendum.

The 13th Amendment to the Constitution has given powers to the Provincial Councils exceeding the power granted to an Indian State by the Indian Constitution. An extract from analysis produced by a member of OPA is given below.

COMPARISON OF POWERS VESTED UNDER 13A IN THE PROVINCES IN SRI LANKA WITH THOSE ENJOYED BY THE STATES OF INDIA

    1. In terms of Article 3 – the Parliament of India may
    (a) Form a new State by separation of territory from any State or by uniting two or more States or parts of States or by uniting any territory to a part of any State;
    (b) increase the area of any State;
    (c) diminish the area of any State;
    (d) alter the boundaries of any State;
    (e) alter the name of any State:
This can be done with a simple majority of votes in the Parliament provided that the President seeks the views of the States on the proposal.

In the case of Article 154(A) it is obligatory on Sri Lanka to establish a Provincial Council for every Province. The Parliament of Sri Lanka can join one or more Provinces but cannot resort to other options as provided for in the IC. For example boundaries of a Province cannot be altered even with the concurrence of the Provinces affected.
It is obvious that this provision is merely to facilitate the joining of the Northern and Eastern Provinces and establish the Tamil Homeland

    2) Under Article 257 -, the executive power of the Union shall also extend to the giving of directions to a State as to the construction and maintenance of means of communication declared in the direction to be of national or military importance:

There is no parallel provision in 13A.

    3) Under Article 312 -, Parliament may create all India services [(including an all-India judicial service)] common to the Union and the States.
At present the All India Services are the Judicial Service, Indian Administrative Service, Indian Police Service and the Indian Forest Service.
The officers of the All India Services are recruited and trained by the Union Government (“the Centre”).

    a) All India recruitment makes possible minimum and uniform standards of administration throughout the country. It enables the induction of the best available talent to these services.
    b) With personnel drawn form different States, each State cadre gets a leavening of senior officers from outside, whose vision and outlook transcend local horizons.
    c) Systemic deputation from the State to the Union broadens the vision of the officers so deputed and brings to the Union an experience of closeness to actual realities.

There is no parallel provision in 13A.

4). Article 44 – requires the (Indian) State to endeavor to secure for the citizens a uniform civil code throughout the territory of India.

13A has no such requirement, the absence of which could lead to many legal tangles.

5). Article 76 (3) – gives the Attorney General of India, the right of audience in the performance of his duties in all courts of India.
    13A has no such provision.

6). Article 139 A – empowers the Supreme Court, in cases where questions of substantial and general importance are involved to withdraw cases pending before High Courts and dispose of the cases by itself.
The Supreme Court may, transfer any case, appeal or other proceedings pending before any High Court to any other High Court.

13A does not have any such provisions.

    7) Article 141 of the Indian Constitution stipulates that the law declared by the Supreme Court shall be binding on all courts within the territory of India.

There is no parallel provision in 13A.

“The 13th Amendment to the Constitution has given powers to the Provincial Councils exceeding the power granted to an Indian State “

How fitting that ‘truth’ has opened their reply with a complete lie. Anyone with half a brain (therefore excluding Gota and his supporters) can see that the regional powers enjoyed by the Tamil Nadu State govt with its own chief minister and control of their own law and order, is far in excess of anything that can be even dreamt about by the soon to be abolished Northern Province, therefore one has the admire the incredible stupidity of ‘mis-truth’ to even dare to claim otherwise

“COMPARISON OF POWERS VESTED UNDER 13A IN THE PROVINCES IN SRI LANKA WITH THOSE ENJOYED BY THE STATES OF INDIA”

Is this writing in CAPS more a reminder to yourself about the importance of the rubbish you are about to spout or have you deluded yourself into thinking that your views carry more prestige if written in upper case? Also what is written on paper and what happens in real life are two different things in Sri Lanka where we have a former quaker peace activist turned suspected war criminal as our head of state along with Percy’s respectful treatment of the chief justice and his former presidential rival as befits the constitution

“For example boundaries of a Province cannot be altered even with the concurrence of the Provinces affected.
It is obvious that this provision is merely to facilitate the joining of the Northern and Eastern Provinces and establish the Tamil Homeland”

‘Truth’ as you are a supporter of the Rajapaksa faithful along with their associated acts like Duminda Silva and Col Karuna, expecting you to show great insight into complex constitutional matters is like expecting Gotabhaya not to go mental when asked difficult questions by critical journalists. Firstly, India has many states like Uttar Pradesh which are larger in terms of population than most countries therefore having the means to split them into smaller units for admin purposes is called logic. As Sri Lanka is much smaller both in terms of population and area, it is not surprising they agreed to keep the provincial lines fixed. Also this decision to create provincial councils was as a safeguard for Tamil-speaking people to have some measure (for the sake of peace) of regional self-rule away from sinhala nationalists in the centre and their obsession with mad monks, buddhism and sinhala only. This 13th amendment is quite explicit in ackowledging the unitary nature of SL state which is why the LTTE were prepared to destroy it and why the Indians were prepared to sacrifice their own soldiers to implement it. Therefore why the incredibly thick Rajapaksa supporters think its a back door to Ealam is beyond me but these are the same fools who think its a good idea to rely on the support of muslim nations at the UN whilst cheering on the bodu sena’s anti-halal campaign.

“There is no parallel provision in 13A”

i like how ‘truth’ is desperately trying to portray the 13A as some kind of horrendous legislation which allows no input from the central govt or is detrimental national security. Remember this same ‘Truth’ thinks 13A is backdoor to Ealam so when one has entered into such a twisted mindset, attempting to speak sense and reason to them is obviously a massive waste of time. These people are hardcore sinhala nationalists who cannot comprehend the existence of minorities and their rights even after a horrific 30 civil war. If the SL govt thinks this as well (due their overwhelming need to create a family dynasty) then India needs to stop its antics with Percy and fully support the USA when they bring their next resolution in Geneva

Ramanan, this what I mentioned in the introduction. “An extract from analysis produced by a member of OPA is given below.” It was sent to many members of OPA.

I have no reason to doubt the accuracy of this Analysis. Both Indian & Sri Lanka Constitutions are given in the web. Study them and write some sense, without talking nonsense through your Elam hat. I have nothing to do with the Rajapaksa family and recognize their strengths as well as their weaknesses.

Thank you ‘truth’ for labelling me as a mad elamist as befits your status as a top grade imbecile. I would ask you to provide some evidence as to what is the basis for this claim but you are the same lazy sod who are asking others to do web-based analysis of the constitution due to your inability to perform the task yourself.

“I have nothing to do with the Rajapaksa family and recognize their strengths as well as their weaknesses”

Oh really – please tell me about some of their ‘weaknesses’ given your natural coyness to state them openly. Is it their patronage of the bodu sena, rampant corruption or lack of intelligence when it comes to international relations which displeases you?

The truth of the matter is that the UN and the Commonwealth have both let down the Tamil people especially and all other people of Sri Lanka as well.. The CHOGM is being held in Sri Lanka because the lily livered Kamalesh Sharma wants to be good with everybody. He is looking maybe for his next appointment. If not why is one of the countries with one of the most dismal human right’s record offered this honour? Australia too is playing a game by palavouring this miserable despotic government.

The UN did not do well in Geneva both times and has been most unactivist like.

While the US too is playing politics and playing hot and cold games.

The people are left high and dry between.

“Did you really expect UN to do well on its own without Washington/Delhi consensus?”

Native Vedda, it seems our idiotic contemporaries supporting Percy’s clan (and thus the dilution/scrapping of 13A) seem determined to bring about the speedy rapprochement of Delhi and Washington as you alluded to. You probably felt echoes of the now mostly silent hardcore LTTE-cheering brigade thinking no harm would befall Prabha once Rajiv’s widow & the Bodu Sena clan chief got together in 2005.

“You probably felt echoes of the now mostly silent hardcore LTTE-“

I never felt affinity with either LTTE or JVP, both killed their own in the name of liberation.

Those who didn’t care about the innocent people, thus morally bankrupt hence have automatically forfeited their right to lead including the state and its rulers.

My apologies Native Vedda if I gave you that opinion. I merely commented how as someone not intimately connected with the major ethnic groups in SL, you are in a unique position to comment on the mutual stupidity of the hardcore sinhala and LTTE faithful

“COMPARISON OF POWERS VESTED UNDER 13A IN THE PROVINCES IN SRI LANKA WITH THOSE ENJOYED BY THE STATES OF INDIA”

“Truth” must be congratulated for giving a few extracts of the above analysis. COLOMBO TELEGRAPH should publish the analysis in full so that the doubts expressed by some of the bloggers can be cleared.
As “Truth” has challenged let the naysayers prove otherwise.

“it is on record that the Indian Politicians had promised Prabhakaran to give him Eelam”

Vichara is another top-grade imbecile who has deluded himself into thinking 13A is a back-door to Ealam despite it fundamentally acknowledging the unitary nature of the SL state. These people have decided to forget about the IPKF fighting the LTTE in order to implement the agreement. Let us feel sympathy for such persons who come on these forums to humilate themselves

It should be Plan A, not Plan B.

That will further erode north people’s faith in 13 amendment. Then the govt. can go ahead with the poll.

Even in 1988 IPKF didn’t hold an election in the north!!

Why everyone takes the north for granted?

Who says there is separation of powers in Sri Lanka. This is a clear instance of the executive acting on the clandestine advice of the head of the Judiciary through the back door, not to mention the legitimate role of an Attorney General who has been shoved into oblivion.Bensen

Setting up the BBS and other extremists to create a false public show against a Fait Accompli of 3 decades old may satisfy some sources within but is likely to work against us outside. The regime is planning to survive on a wobby scheme of its own engineering. This will only go to further harm vulnerable minorities exposed to marauding State-identified hordes of the “patriotic” – as in 7/83 – where the net result will be plunder, arson and other extreme forms of harassment.

Veddah’s Cousin writes of “My language” Please explain. Am totally unaware of this.

7/83 may be old hat for those who planned, robbed, killed and watched the fun from the sidelines. For those who suffered and who were subject to collective indignity and punishment. It is something that will part of the memory of the Tamil Nation for a very, very long time – and wherever they live.

Most commentators who want LTTE proxy Sambandan to have Police Powers and Land Titles seem to be putting their money on the US India new axis to issue us a Red Card at the third session.

It is interesting to see whether there have been any serious developments in Srilanka which are detrimental to peace, freedom and human rights of the inhabitant population since the Yellow Card at the last Session.

No car bombs No Suicide attacks, No assasinations No rapes No Ethnic cleansing to reprt.

In comparison,Maoist fighters clean up the whole Political unit of the Congress in one hit in Bastar.

Srilanka is ahead of India in Peace Index.

And well ahead of US and Diaspora IC administered Afganistan.

Norwegian Nikaya (Sect) of the BBS has reprogrammed their GPS and no more silly Halal attacks.

Prez has promised a referandum for the inhabitants to decide whether ex Ltte supporters be given Police Powers and exclusive land rights.

BJP delegation seems quit content with the Prez offering a full democratic process to the inhabitants to have a say on a vital and most important piece of legislation for their survival as a nation,

This legislation was rammed down their throats by a bully PM to please the Terrorist leaders ,installed by his own PM mother and the great majority of the inhabitant population didn’t have a clue what it was all about..

Are these developments warrant a Red Card?.

What can the police do in the north, amidst the heavy military presence, though much more discreet now ? VP himself would not have been able to twiddle even his finger under these circumstances. Please do not not peddle an obviously patent bogey.

North has become both Forces and the Police biggest Kappam (bribe den.

From Land grab to charging Lorries that transport goods to North and East by the Sri Lanka Crook police check points that are been erected every one mile are into robbing tamil people.

CHOGM will be Rajapakses Guillotine and the Regime could impolde within pretty soon.

“who want LTTE proxy Sambandan to have Police Powers and Land Titles”

These commentators are wanting northern Tamils to partake in a free election to elect a provinicial council whereas you are in favour of Mahinda appointing his own ex-militant/child abductor Douglas to occupy the post with the help of the security services

“No car bombs No Suicide attacks, No assasinations No rapes No Ethnic cleansing to reprt.”

Indeed many of the personalities who were enjoying these LTTE activities in years past like Col Karuna, KP, Pillayan and Daya Master etc, are now getting into the Mahinda mindset of engaging in rampant corruption, media suppression and paramilitary activity etc. Also it appears nothing is going to be happening to Duminda Silva anytime soon so lets pray he doesn’t get itchy feet and do quadruple homicide again

Also if all is well why are Amnesty International releasing reports in 2013 claiming ‘there are no human rights in Sri Lanka’. Remember this same human rights organisation was Mahinda’s favourite when he used to make trips to UN human rights council in 1990.

“Maoist fighters clean up the whole Political unit of the Congress in one hit in Bastar.”

The Indians do not need the advice of the SL govt or their supporters as to how to manage a multi-religious country without resorting to cheap gimmicks like hailing buddhism as the foremost language, monks on the rampage etc..They dealt with their internal tamil problem many years ago thus not needing to waste any more time or resources in placing a massive military presence throughout Tamil Nadu or be in continuous conflict with regional tamil outfits.

“Norwegian Nikaya (Sect) of the BBS has reprogrammed their GPS and no more silly Halal attacks.”

Oh how wonderful- is this reprogramming going to stop in time for the next presidential election so the sinhala buddha faithful can be reminded who their real enemies are and thus vote again for Percy’s family?

“Prez has promised a referandum for the inhabitants to decide whether ex Ltte supporters be given Police Powers and exclusive land rights”

Will there be a referendum for the inhabitants to decide whether ex-ltte bodyguards like Col Karuna can be appointed to posts such as vice-president of SLFP or have access to Gota’s box of fake passports to flee the country?

“BJP delegation seems quit content “

We will see how content they are if they’re forced to go into a coalition govt with Jayalalithaa after 2014. I’m assuming the BJP will look towards their own govt’s self-preservation over the survival of the clan?

“a bully PM to please the Terrorist leaders ,installed by his own PM mother and the great majority of the inhabitant population didn’t have a clue what it was all about..Are these developments warrant a Red Card?.”

Sumanasekera if the great majority of the inhabitant population is like you and doesn’t have a clue, it’s because of a lack of basic education combined with intense brainwashing by similarly mentally disturbed persons like Gotabhaya which thus explains your continuous mad attempts to portray 13A as being set up for Prabha when anyone with even a passing interest in SL affairs, understands how determined the LTTE were against 13A even going to the lengths of killing the ‘bully PM’ responsible for its establishment. The LTTE also made no mention of the PC model when they were in peace talks preferring instead to speak of a self-governing authority. Do you think it might be possible for you to acknowledge these facts in future or are you content to continue playing to the sterotype of the thick-as-mince sinhala buddhist nationalist

“Are these developments warrant a Red Card?.”

This card system only has an effect if people can avoid being clueless and understand its meaning. When the Indians purposely watered-down the last US resolution after Percy agreed to hold northern PC in Sept, only a top-notch imbecile (ergo the clan’s supporters) are thinking good things will be happening in March if this same PC election gets postponed/scrapped or becomes so devoid of any meaningful power as to render it useless.
