President Can Appoint An Acting Chief Justice, No One Can Challenge It – Advice From Sarath Silva

By Colombo Telegraph

The President can appoint an acting Chief Justice says former Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva. Under the article 109 (1) the President has this option, therefore Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake should think  about it and take leave during the impeachment.

Silva and the President

Silva made above remarks with Sinhala weekly Irida Divaina today.

Article 109. (1) says;  If the Chief Justice or the President of the Court of Appeal is temporarily unable to exercise, perform and discharge the powers, duties and functions of his office, by reason of illness, absence from Sri Lanka or any other cause, the President shall appoint another Judge of the Supreme Court, or of the Court of Appeal, as the case may be, to act in the office of Chief Justice, or President of the Court of Appeal, respectively, during such period.

No one can challenge the clause “any other cause” Silva says.

Sarath Silva is the scum of the earth!
We the people of Lanka can challenge “any other cause” since it needs to be a LEGITIMATE cause.
Rajapassa is NOT god. The president of Sri Lanka is not god to hire and fire the CJ as he pleases.
The professionals and all Lanka will soon be out on the street en mass for REGIME CHANGE!
India and the Commonwealth organization must stop Rajapakse and expel the regime from the Commonwealth as it did with Mugabe and move the Commonwealth Heads meet away from Lanka and delegitimize Rajapakse and make him a TOTAL international Pariah which he already is for the most part

This man is most corrupted CJ we ever had in the history. That is a known fact to the masses. And MR has records to have worked with all uneducated, criminals, drug dealer mentality bearers and similar charactors. Perhaps, bird of a feather flock together fits more here. However, neglecting all dignity and respect, also knowing that his sympathizers would not agree with his current behavoiours but to continue in this way can end up with a tragody- hopes the best for a regime change. There are plenty of all kind of corrupted personalities in lanken society, but president^s nature to have close contacts with them clearly shows his unique nature of bad governance – that a president or any politicians must not have.

Most corrupt CJ’s suggest that there are / were more than one. Wrong! In its 200 year history, there was only one, the man who still dares to pontificate.

Since the incumbent CJ is able to exercise, perform and discharge the powers, duties and functions of her office, because she is not ill, she is in Sri Lanka and she has no other cause not to exercise, perform and dischrge her duties, the former CJ is wrong. I think he has given another rope or money must speaking or a species of the opposite sex must be near him!
By the way when the impeachment was handed over to the Speaker against him when he was enjoying a Monica Lewinsky when “gedara yana gaman”, did the then President appoint an acting CJ or did he withdraw from his office, though he was at least mentally ill to qualify under the illness clause for misbehavior by the road side?
Only advice that can be given to him is “Palayan yako pissu nokela!” (Get lost!)

The present Judiciary should take immediate steps to rectify the wrongs committed by Sarath N Silva. The first shoud be to uphold the Constitution preventing MPs crossing over. This will lead to all those cross overs being unseated, that would result in a balance of power. Thereafter everythng else would fall into place. This is one legal step to put the country back on track.

        • 0
          0

Exactly Gamini! Shirani must do it now! Somebody please initiate legal action to this effect!

To quote former CJ, ‘Article 109.

Now the issue is, there is nothing that impairs the present CJ from performing her duties as stated above. Therefore what makes it required the appointment of an Acting CJ or an Acting President of the Court of Appeal, if the Party is Fit, Able and Willing to?

Getting to see the picture again – enough to make one puke.

Entire nation would hate this S N Silva for his behaviour -just to revenge the incumbent, he gets close to the President. He is more than like a deadly virus our nation right at this juncture of the country^s politics.

Sarath Silva is talking through his posterior.

None of the conditions that would engage Art 109 has been engaged yet.

As a post script I wish to add that his statement that no one can challenge the clause (sic) ‘any other cause’ is baloney.

No sensible head of state should follow the route suggested by Sarath Silva. It would undermine the judiciary and seriously so.

The Chief Justice is not “his Chief justice” for a president to summarily replace her any time she wants. If he were able to do so then all he has to do is to get some allegations going and use it as a pretext to stand down the Chief Justice with another.

Needless to say about him being sensible, if he can target the innocient civilians in the war and after the war episodes, he is capable of doing whatever he feels is fine for him. That is what we are experiencing today. So long the stupid folks would not realize the real nature of the uneducated leader – folks will have to suffer as under no other previous leader.

investigative journalism in the archives of a 2005 publication:-

Sarath Silva is a good example of how quickly political allegiances change in Sri Lanka today. This also shows how unprincipled and opportunistic Sarath Silva is. He must have accepted thirty pieces of silver from Rajapaksa to turn his back on those in the opposition he supported. He caused so much damage to the judiciary when he was the CJ and will continue to cause damage to the country by colluding with Rajapaksa.

The press should no longer give any exposure to the opinions of this turncoat Sarath Silva. Considering his past history I am surprised his utterances are still considered important by the press. He should simply be ignored from now onwards.

Yes but the press is part of the problem!

Would the Indian press be so cowardly? Our press men run to anyone they can find for a ‘easy’ story instead of actually engaging in good journalism.

This man gave warped judgements hoping to be made Prime Minister. He also had Presidential ambitions. The country is suffering today because he destabilised Opposition parties by permitting cross overs. He gave a biased judgement in the ” Helping Hambantota” case. He used to pontificate on Buddhism on a mediocre TV channel when he cannot see a skirt. He sat on the bench to hear his own divorce case when the husband of the woman he was living with filed a case for divorce. What about what happened on the banks of the Diyawanna ? He was caught by the Police with his pants down. This is well documented.

It was only yesterday that shameless silgath Sarath Sila appeared with Sarath Foseka to do away with the Executive Presidency. What a turncoat and a dishonourable Buddist is he to talk in favour of MR’s move to impeach the honourable CJ. The comments show the rage of people who are watching with helplessnes and desperation.People’s anger is equally directed against the Govt and more against an ineffectual Opposition.

    • 0
      0

Sunila Mendis, I agree with most of your comments but re the “ineffectual opposition” issue I have other ideas. If the opposition has become ineffectual the sole responsibility rests on the stupid people of this country. They have been presented over and over again now about 29 times to cast their vote for the opposition and establish a government that would reflect their wishes and uphold democracy. But look what they have done! They have casted their vote for the thugs of the government and now they blame everything on Ranil and the UNP! In a way the people of this country have been given the ruler they deserve! That is why the old saying, “perethayage hatiyatane vimane” meaning an evil spirit’s abode reflects its nature”. When the regime killed Tamils by the thousands without any regard for the law and norms of conduct they were very happy that the Tamils are got rid of by their Sinhala army and the Sinhala king; when the killing videos were broadcast they flocked in front of the TV to witness the massacre with sentiments of Nationalism, patriotism, national pride and sadistic pleasure; when the same killer spree turned towards the criminals in the South they were happy that those criminals were got rid of extra judicially because otherwise they will escape from the operation of due process of law and justice; when the white vans pursued and the victims made to disappear into thin air they looked away and said it is the bad guys that are being liquidated; and now when they come after you, you blame the opposition being ineffectual! Sunila Mendis, we all witnessed how Mahinda Rajapaksha pounded on his chest like the king kong proclaiming his patriotism to the whole nation! Now is your turn to pound on your own heart and proclaim and admit the bitter and unfortunate truth that because of your stupidity and gullibility you have sacrificed the whole nation to a despotic criminal! You threw all sorts of insults and allegations towards Ranil and embraced a smiling stupid devil, and when the devil devours you, you issue stupid statements against Ranil without understanding that you have dug your own grave and the those of the others as well including those not yet born! You are a wonderful nation, no wonder three alien nations subjugated this land coupled with may invasions from India and local Tamils! You all fail to see the snake living in your own house but beat the bush for the quasi snake!

Silva well said. This Sunila type tries to act as paragons of virtue and believe they can pass the buck to RW. Honestly what did she do working for CBK who was only interested in having a good rollicking time with booze and Naluwa like buggers as Sanath Gunathilake to satisfy her lust.

        [Edited out]
Sunila this is your CBK and if you challenge, I will get the two parties who witnessed to come forward.

If a party or person is not capable of fulfiling its or his part, his appologists have to cry to the manner as you do. See, Gamini, if you re not mad, as almost everyone feels, you should also feel the same that today^s RW is like almost half dead. Leaving aside all what previous govts have made – RW had enough times to prove that he can go any challenge. Even right at the moment, what we get to see is nothing else than his deadly silence even while the judiciary of the country is openly attacked by ruling thugs. Gamini, as if you are a close confidante of RW, your angers become doulbe always when some commentators put ant RW comments to CT. If you guys cant realize inability of UNP under RW – at least try you big mouths to strengthen his hands- you may have close ties with them – so it is high time to get close them and show them the way to be able to face the challenges in saving the nations from MARA and thugs.

        • 0
          0

Srima, as an anti RW you are, you say that, ‘RW had enough times to prove that he can go any challenge. Even right at the moment, what we get to see is nothing else than his deadly silence even while the judiciary of the country is openly attacked by ruling thugs’. When you say that RW had enough times, you obviously refer to the only time he was able to form a govt. with some of the corrupt who had infiltrated the UNP as Rajitha Senaratne, SB Dissanayaka, Mahinda Wijesekara, and all those who crossed over. The biggest challange he faced was to turn the Economy around that had gone into recession for the first time in the country’s history. RW did not resort to the manipulations that CBK or MR have resorted, but genuinely turned the Economy around. Just as he was about to give relief to the masses with 64 Projects identified with the world’s power blocks behind him only that the Patriots with CBK at the helm scuttled him and the country has now paid a heavy price. Is this what you term as RW’s inability? or better still your ilk’s dirty destabilising acts? Can you state another term RW had power and did not do anything as you have mentioned? Thereafter when MR went on ably assisted by the Corrupt as Sarath N Silva from the Judiciary and the other undesirebles, ganging up to devour the assets of this country, you expect RW to throw himself out to save this Nation? For what, if that is what the public wants anyway? MR other than claiming to have defeated the LTTE which itself is a scam where he had been helped by outside forces to eliminate one part of the LTTE the VP faction, for him to break bread with the other half of the LTTE with KP, Karuna Amman, Pillayan and crowd, what constructive measures has MR done in the country of Projects like Mahaweli, the Garment Industry, Opening of Free Trade Zone Factories to solve the unemployment? Yes he has lost on GSP, opened Ports and Air Ports without business and constructed Formula One Race Tracks for his sons to indulge in leisure. As for RW’s ability you will see at the right time when he steps out and take over.

Srima, the lunatic, the deranged you are, no wonder you write this type of bullshit! What the fucking hell do you suggest RW should do in the face of CJ impeachment? Do you want RW do perform devil dance in front of Fort railway station or something like that? This is the unfortunate reality this country is facing. Imbeciles like you do not understand what democracy means. Like the dog that is used to eat shit you are not satisfied if someone does not supply you with some shit to consume by way of empty useless protests, agitations etc. Where the fucking hell in the constitution it is stated that an impeachment must be answered by political rallies? This is the bankrupt level of your education and morality! Cultured and educated measures and behaviour is an anathema to buffaloes like you! You will find your ideal leader in Sajith the donkey but not in Ranil! And Sajith will lead you to an even bigger lawlessness than MR judging by the destruction he has already caused to the party! Lunatics like you must be in mental hospitals and not in internet forums!

Silva please don’t talk bull shit.Who said people voted for Rajapakse. In fact from the beginning the votes were rigged with corruption, bribery, thuggery, intimidation and false propaganda by people like you. From bribing Prabhakaran, opposition MP’s to cross over, and people, with illegal tsunami money, up to suppression and intimidation of opposition and people using abusive power and various strong arm methods including keeping the election commissioner under house arrest until the elections are over are few examples. Arresting and remanding Gen. Sarath Fonseka without proper charges is one example. Meanwhile sudden disappearances of opposition members, media personnel, reporters, white van abductions, distribution of illegal drugs are all part of the Govt. game plan to stay in illegal power. Now the cancer has spread up to the Chief Justice and even up to the prisons. I could write many more. But in future please don’t be stupid enough to say that people voted for the illegal dictatorial Rajapakse regime. It is WRONG AND CORRECT YOURSELF. I have noticed you write every time saying the people voted for MR. No you are WRONG. They were fraudulently obtained by the illegal Rajapakse regime. Therefore please in future stop writing false information to the public. People already judged who both MR and you are.

Garry White, your stupid comment contains half truth, half lies! The vote rigging and all the bla bla are correct. But as your ill-constructed writing implies nobody has voted for the regime! Don’t write pig shit even if you have a liking for it! I have witnessed many stupid, nationalistic, chauvinistic people who blindly believe Rajapakshas! It is these lunatics who made the game easy for the Rajapakshas to rob each and every election! Even it does not occur to your bird brain, have you ever wondered despite all the problems, issues, corruption, looting, waste and crimes in the country why are all these fuckers in the country behaving like the dumb who drank bitter concoct kasaya? It is exactly because they have casted their vote for the wrong man seeing the war victory carrot happiness that they now find it difficult to digest and hence keep quiet! If as your stupid theory suggests people are so against the government why do they behave as if nothing ominous has happened and just carry on their day-to-day activity with great difficulty and yet without forgetting to criticize Ranil for every mishap that befall them? Not me but you get your bearings right! I perfectly smell what type of a loser you are! You are an imposter from the Sajith’s camp. Your game plan is to make a big ha ho that a vast number of people are against the government, that they did not vote for the regime and that the opposition leader is incapable of mobilizing the people against the regime and therefore a leadership change would bring in a UNP government. What whore fucking bullshit is this? You would do well to remember that this traitor Sajith is the one who destroyed UNP to its current state because his shit behaviour coupled with those of other whores like Karu, Shiral, Maithree etc. etc. made the stupid masses believe all the false propaganda disseminated by the media whore Sirasa, Government lie factories, government politicians and people like Maithree Gunaratne etc.

Silva: First I don’t know how you found out that I am a Sajith fan. I am peoples ,equally justice for both majority and minority, against corruption, liberty, honesty, and good governance FAN. I don’t care what color or what race or religion or what the family back ground or what is under their pants .. ok. I AM FOR JUSTICE FOR ALL. You talk about Sajith, but do you what’s the mystery behind the sixty (60) odd UNP MP’s and scores of other opposition MP’s who crossed over to Govt. side…. Did do do any research on them? Did you check their Bank accounts, houses (may be more than three or four for some) land, luxury vehicles, schools their children go to,how all their extended family members live, how many foreign trips they make…..in short the extreme super life they lead AFTER THEY JOINED THE RULING PARTY. Use your nut head before you write and see who funds all of them ok. Yes there are some internal conflicts in UNP, and not only in UNP but also in DNA, JVP, and other parties too. THAT IS ONE OF THE BEAUTIES OF A DEMOCRATIC GOVERNANCE. NOT THE “YES SIR” ASS LICKING DOGS WHO ARE CONSTANTLY LOOKING TO DESTABILIZE AND DECISIVE AND CREATE CONFLICTS AND ANIMOSITY AMONG THE REST OF THE COUNTRY AND OPPOSITION MEMBERS AND PARTIES. Finally I hope all the internal conflicts among the opposition party members will be resolved and all will unite to fight against the corrupt, tyranny and dictatorial regime to bring LONG DUE PEACE, RELIEF,HAPPINESS, LIBERTY AND JUSTICE TO EVERY SRI LANKAN. THE IMPEACHMENT OF CG HAS COME AS A BLESSING IN DISGUISE AND THE LIBERTY AND HAPPINESS THAT ALL ARE DREAMING IS NOT THAT FAR. Hope you know me now.

Garry White, after all, when did the fucking hell you get visa to this world!? And who supplied you the parachute to acrobat the summersault? You sucker, bear this in your mind. The content of your dribble is not new to me or any ordinary person living in this country. They are living realities on this land. Every kindergartener knows MR bribed millions to bait and lure MPs from the opposition. But your deplorably conceit filled bird brain overlooked other factors MR used to influence opposition members like COPE findings and culprits, litigation threats, tax payment defaults, terrorist involvement inquiries and even blue films starring the very politician actors etc.! And as you say you are doing, I don’t have to conduct “researches” into them or “check” their Bank Account balances-how the fucking hell you check account details of others only god and you know!-to understand what is going on in this political pole-vaults and in the general political climate in the country! And you have a final and innocent wish that “…all the internal conflicts among the opposition party members will be resolved…” which I presume is the outcome of your much hyped “research”! You shit man, first get your bearings right! First understand who is who and what his base line and trajectory. Don’t collect a sample from the flowing river and say I have “researched” this and I know what the river is! We have been running a marathon and a relay race and before you exchange from a crusader the baton you must first gather synchronized momentum in par with others! But without doing that you enter the track and begin biting the asses of the runners like an astray dog chasing and biting people passing by!

If by ineffectual opposition she means the UNP, then she is wrong. They despite the turncoats within it who should have been excised are doing a sterling job within the limited resources available to them.

Remember the Sri Lankan people are to blame for the situation we find ourselves in, by being taken in by the lies of the Ruling Cabal.

It is only with hindsight that we realize the foresight of the UNP leader Ranil. Can we now blame him for not being on the same stage with Sarath Silva and Sarath Fonseka? Now they are both in disgrace.

Stupid people question why Ranil was not more forthright against the impeachment. Legally his hands were tied and people even in his own party did not realize it. If his party is to judge in the PSC on the proceedings, how can they express an opinion on the case? Judges are NOT supposed to express their opinions on a case before the case is even heard. So in LAW all the statements made by the Government MPs and members of the Govt. PSC are out of order.

RW’s legal point is that whatever they come up with and vote in favor of impeachment, it will be thrown out in LAW as the Judges had prejudged the case and therefore must go to a mistrial.

Who then is able to Judge? NO ONE. So in Law the CJ cannot be impeached by the Kangaroo Court. The dimwitted Rajapakses don’t understand that, or rather they don’t care, that is until they realize they are in contempt of court, and therefore have to be guilty!!

All this in the end is a technical farce. We just have to take to the Streets to overthrow this illegal regime and in law or not in every country where it has happened, NO ONE has challenged the legal right of the people!! Now how about that? I am sure the CABAL are counting on a passive electorate. When you push us just that much more we crack and it is likely that we will reach that point fairly shortly when the excesses just get out of hand.

Silva: Don’t get me wrong but I suspect if you have any links to other Silva….the famous tongue flipper ex CJ. It doesn’t matter to me. For your question regarding research…I don’t have to do any research at all. I just read the newspapers.Few of them are below.
      1) When one notorious minister’s son says that his hobby is to collect TOYS and he has four of them with one of them costing 400 million rupees without taxes. He also says he goes to the most expensive night clubs 3-4 times a week. The mystery is HE DOESN’T WORK.
2)A provincial council member says a candidate contesting spends minimum 50 million rupees. He wants to sell his duty free car permit to recover some expenses.
      3) The ever famous “Can’t remember” is in a FOREIGN HOSPITAL FOR MORE THAN A YEAR….where as I have to fore-go one month’s salary or have to pawn my wive’s jewelry to stay 3 DAYS IN A LOCAL PRIVATE HOSPITAL.

I can write many more but I don’t know where your nuts are when you read the newspapers. Moreover my mother never showed me a passport visa, or the parachute to show how I came to this world. I only can tell you is when I go to bathroom I leave my shit there, where as you leave them in this forum. Any way keep doing what you know best.

Actually speaking this most corrupted ex CJ in the history of SL is very suitable person as the most senior adviser to the most corrupted regime in our country in par with other corrupted cases like Mohan Peris, Chandra Fernando etc. This man is all out to do any dirty thing to survive now. Premadasa was not that malicious to have bombed down – but today even bullets seem to be not working even if the buggers of these both ( MR and Sarath Silva) allow the continuance of their tactics destroying nation and the country.

As seen in the history, ones who have behaved even far better to the manner that the incumbant does – lost their lives immaturly, I am sure, many would agree if the same would be fate to this guy not long before

What da fkg hell is this bush fukr is uttering now!? To remove a CJ a disability situation or an impeachment situation must arise! An acting CJ scenario is out of the window because no such situation has arisen either. These two bastards are the most responsible pigs that have plunged this country to its present situation. They are leading the country from frying pan to the inferno. Welikada incident was a model of what is in the store for the majority bastards in this country. To bury a single witness who would testify against the president in the Kotte Rajamahavihara sword plunder case and the murder of monk this deplorable president created this whole killing spree in the broad day light using his mercenaries. Surely these two thugs must trace their breeding to a whore wandering in the streets! This former CJ is a dog that would eat shit if he is given some money or a whore to fuck! Rajapakshas are the same. That is why after all the disputes between them and the SN Silva dog they are now embracing each other! Maggots cannot live among humans, they flock together!

Sarath Silva has said, “no one can challenge the clause ‘any other cause.” Yes, but on the condition if the CJ is “temporarily unable to exercise, perform and discharge the powers, duties and functions of his office.”

“Any other cause” relates to something similar to “illness, absence from Sri Lanka.” Long term leave can be a cause.

I have never heard about a Paraya like Sarath Silva. MR is always capable of buying people and that is what he has been doing from the day he has been appointed.

Is this the same Sarath N Silva, once upon a time a lawful CJ, who was then living unlawfully in “lawful adultery” with the lawful wife of another man, speaking on the lawful procedure of appointing acting CJs?. This man is the most disgraceful man ever to have sat on the bench of the CJ of this lovely country. He belongs to that breed of men, who are bred in the art of proving that “black” is “white” and “white” is “black” in order to gain political advantage. He being a “pot black” is now trying to compare a “white ceramic tea pot” to a “pot black” like himself.

President can even appoint his OWN mother for this and other position when looking at the manner he has made appointees to the positions neglecting required qualifications but prioritizing his closness.

Even late president of the lybia was not reacting to the manner that the lanken Incumbent president governs the country today. So, times ahead will be not nice for me – when reminding the fate of Gadapi – that was later end found on a drain.

Gamini – One admires your consistent faith in Ranil. I agree he is streets ahead as an able/educated leader than most of the current dregs of sociey. He is of a total different calibre, coming from a generation of leaders of substantial wealth. The Island recently traced their ancestry to Parakrama Bahu, who by the way, was Tamil. That variety does not need to steal the meagre wealth of the public like the kleptomaniacs from the deep South who had stolen even the power structure. But he has to learn to be strong and fearless – unlike that trip from the airport when he had the clear and visible support of a million in the street – when some of his close advisers/Ministers told him to stand-up to the viles and trickery of the manly CBK when she unlawfully sacked 4 of his Ministers. He got cold feet and failed to stand against injustice – and let the entire nation down.

I note you still trust he will come back to power. I agree many rich countries in the world will back him up to the hilt. Not for anything else but he has the brains, the men/women of ability behind him, who can lift this country to the heights JRJ did in 1977-1983. He will not go into cheap stealing from the till although some of his close friends who financially supported him till now will expect some form of quid pro quo. But this is not unusual so long as it is kept to acceptable limits. But the wimpish Ranil knows the Rajapakses will not give up without a fight – and that’s an area where the knicker-wearing left-handed batsman RW is congenitally weak. But, as they say, people certainly can change. I hope so in the case of Ranil – in the interest of 20 million.

Senguttuvan, one naturally builds faith in a person from his conduct. I knew RW briefly when he entered the Faculty and I was doing my A/Ls. I was in the same circle of friends of RW. Stanley Obeysekara, Crystal Perera, Wijitha De Alwis, Jayantha Jebomoney and a few others. Once he became a Minister I found him not that friendly and I was not a person running behind any mother’s son. I was also very closely known to Gamini Dissanayake and family but I had my self esteem not to run behind any Politicians although I had very close relatives in both the UNP and the SLFP govts holding high Office. I always had my sympathy towards the UNP as they were the lessor evil of the two main political parties. There were more rogues in the other parties than the UNP. I was supportive of GD at that time, but after his demise I realised that RW is the most suited to take leadership of this country. I speak on his behalf not expecting anything but for my own good and the country’s emancipation. That is all. I feel confident he will take over this country to govern sooner than most expect.

The phrase ‘any other cause’ does not mean any ‘reason’ that comes to the President’s mind. In lawyer’s speak any other cause must be ‘ejusdem generis’to the words that precede the phrase.

The incumbent CJ is perfectly capable of discharging the duties of her office.

Dear Gamini – You and I are in the same trajectory. Although I have my personal take on RW, as I said earlier, has no par today for the ideal leader to lead us out of the morass we are in. Every country whom we need to take us out – India, Japan, USA, EU, Australia – share this view. They trust him implicitly. I know many close friends of mine – who know Ranil well – concerned at his mercurial behaviour towards them. But that’s his nature. Malik and John A, two RW faithfuls, have to do much more to liberate him from this damaging weakness.

I came to know Gamini somewhat just before his death. Excellent PR and fearless leader. Knows where he is going. He was courteous to me although he knew I came under Thonda’s (Snr) orbit.

I watched former CJ’s interview at Derana’s 360 degrees. There were several deficiencies which he showed at the interview. He told the viewers that he had the practice of worshiping the Buddha twice in the morning before he took the bench. The implication was that he could not do wrong in his judgments because he was guided by the Buddha in his work. Then he said that in his confrontations with MR regarding the Hedging issue and fixing the retail prices of gases, he had to retreat because he could not bear the wrath of the President and the government. That is unbecoming of a man in whose hands people have placed the administration of justice. If he felt that that was the justice, whether he earned the wrath of MR or not, he has to deliver it to the people. At that level of positions specially created in the constitution, people have to take risks on behalf of the principles they uphold. Society does not respect cowards!

Did this bugger (Sarath Silva) worship the Buddha before he pulled his pants down???????
