Maithripala Sirisena appears to be extremely perturbed by recent political developments and is consequently acting like one deranged, sources close to President Maithripala Sirisena told Colombo Telegraph.
In the face of increasing evidence of disapproval among the voters, Sirisena is said to have been disturbed to the point that he is quick to lose his temper even over relatively minor issues.
The unofficial presidential pollster, Malith Jayatilleka (MP), who also predicted that Mahinda Rajapaksa would lose the Presidential Election in January 2015, is said to have informed the president that if the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) contests alone it would end up fourth in the local government election. This view has been echoed by intelligence reports, Colombo Telegraph learns.
President Sirisena has accordingly been informed that outside the Northern and Eastern Provinces his faction of the SLFP would have to fight the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) for the third place.
The President’s anti-Wickremesinghe advisors are said to have urged him that the best option under the circumstances is to forge an alliance with Mahinda Rajapaksa.
It is widely held that Sirisena’s moves to postpone local government elections is to purchase time to forge such a deal.

sira is going about it in the wrong way
if he can put the brothers and sons of rajapaksa in jail he can easily do well at the elections

3rd Grade Hypocrite. He himself said that if he had lost, he’ll be 6′ under.
90% of his votes were from the UNP. Not a single SLFPer voted for him. Even the SLFP Ministers who spoke on platforms, if he or the so-called Ministers had an iota of shame wouldn’t have got together.Nevertheless, Chandrika showed her class since she was from an elite family.
There’s a thing called RETRIBUTION. Thajudeen, Lasantha, Ekneligoda will be haunting. Sirasa won’t be able to rescue.

punchinilame / November 27, 2017
I fully agree with your opinion. It is common sense that offenders must be dealt with and a sequence of this will be the many offenders, if
pursued logically, will be in jail by the time General Elections take place.
If leaders curry favour with Offenders, this will not take place as
the Voters wish.

nalmen,
Well said, but Sira has no guts or lost his guts.
He has ample data and constitutional mandate to clean house and put away the Rajapaksa crooks, cronies, and killers, by letting the law take it’ own course without interference.
Will he? He is no John Kotalawala.

A question for Samuel Jayaweera who ranted on about MIG deals, Dubai Bank deposits, and Thajudeen. Please give us some credible information on these matters of which you seem to know about a lot. Mind you, factual evidence, is wanted not the kind of wild garbage that was thrown around to elect Sirisena and Ranil so THEY can rob and plunder.

A question for sameul Jayaweera on about MIG deals, dubai bank deposits and thajudeen.
Percy are you eating punnakku given by the medamulana bros, you forgot to mention welikada massacre, ekneligoda, lasantha, krish deal, carlton deal, da raja memeorial etc etc which has been proved by CID.
/
Mallaiyuran / November 27, 2017
Percy,
Don’t take a risky path. Anything happened in South can be proved easily when Ranin think so. Ranil is still earnestly binding him to the promise given on the coup night of 8th January 2015 at Temple Tree House. Ranil did know if he is not jumping in America would snatch any time the Old Royal party. The case that will never come out in Lankawe courts is Mullaitivu Genocide. So instead the one you picked, you go back to your previous famous claim that there was only “Zero Casualty” and ask if anyone can disprove it. If that ever got proved, you don’t have to worry on that because it is going to be outside of Lakanwe and Modayas not going to read those News in English so you are safe, you repeat it for elections even after UN finished its matters in ICC.
If Persons like you go to hell after death, the people already there going to chase you back to Lankawe saying not to come there as Wildlife Sanctuary Lankawe is only suitable place for you and your Brother Prince.

It is true that people who voted for MS are disgusted. But they will never back MR
/
Sinhala_Man / November 27, 2017
I agree with you, except that there are people who vote for the likely winner, and not out of conviction.
*
The comment immediately below yours at this point of time (Thanks, Plato!) classifies me as a guy who has a “soft corner” for Maithri – just the same as he has! All of us humans have faults and weaknesses, however.
*
No. It’s not soft corners for individuals, it is commitment to certain “Principles”. That comment began with something said by a very honest and decent Tamil, who calls himself “Unreal”. I don’t know the real name of either Plato or “Unreal”. My identity I seem periodically to reveal out of the sheer frustration at guys claiming me to be a hoax or a masquerader.
*
Most religions have an element of superstition and “Insurance Policy” about them. “Principles” rank higher.

If President Sirisena ties up with MaRa, his journey in Sansara will begin sooner than later!
But of course there is a big IF. Sinhala Man who has a soft corner for President Sirisena should read out Rudyard Kiplings IF at this crucial time.He had hoppers before he left MaRa; This time around he may have Pittu before bidding adieu to Ranil W!

Mudson Amarasinghe / November 27, 2017
Plato,
Never forget 3 types of people in your life!
1. who helped you in your difficult times’
2 who left you in your difficult times’
3 who put you in difficult times
Sira is doing exactly the same, with the help of Killi Maharaja sirasa he is trying to destroy the UNP.

Rishard / November 27, 2017
Coalition breaks! Both MY3 and RW have lost people’s confidence with only a single option left for each of them to repair that can reverse their lost images.
MY3 has to arrest former regime’s criminals for serious crimes. Ranil has to remove and take to the books, the bond scam connected members (IF he is not directly involved).
If neither happens, and MY3 joins MR and distribute lunch packets at the last hour, and Ranil goes on stage to talk of virtual and imaginary developments still there will be uneducated and educated idiots vote for them in Wonder of Asia!
/
Sinhala_Man / November 27, 2017
Dear Rishard,
No need for Maithri to get heroic at this time, and arrest Gota. That has to be done, but without confusing the electorate at the last moment.
*
He certainly must NOT team up with MaRa. What many of us are saying is that Maithri will have to forego OUR votes if he does so. Let’s hope that he listens to us.
*
Yesterday was Pola Day (Sunday Fair) in my provincial town in Uva. Many sellers are villagers from far afield, and they know and trust me. The arithmetic is certainly against us, and they may turn to MaRa, but mostly because of the silly talk about cost of various goods. People have respect for Maithri, but they may vote for MaRa. Let us forgive THEIR ignorance of the real issues.
*
We, too, are to blame for one thing: we are not communicating all this in the language that THEY understand. Our fault for not knowing our Native Language. Teaching them a world language (English, obviously) is what should be done, but even that isn’t the ultimate answer. It would help.
*
Let us hold fast to our principles, and vote as we must. It is crucial that we don’t cave in. It is NOT a foregone conclusion that My3 goes down.
*
If somebody can convince me of Ranil’s rectitude, or an honest young man takes control of the UNP, I don’t mind voting for the Grand Old Party. Most unlikely scenario.

bleeding.
This might hurt our sinhale man
/
Sinhala_Man / November 27, 2017
Dear Srinivasan,
In certain circumstances I, too, can be a coward, and am not without faults.
*
Never mind the risk. I’m not young any more. I greatly admire that Old King Elara (Ellala to you). It was he who was heroic, not young Dutugemunu, who agreed to single combat.
*
As for Dutugemunu’s edict after that, what did it cost him?
*
Maithri’s love of hoppers; too much made of that. It so happens that the first Rajapaksa in to the State Council was Don Mathew in 1930 or so. He betrayed the incumbent Proctor Vincent Stuart Wikremanayake, who was my maternal grandmother’s brother. I don’t necessarily say that was unfair.
*
O.K. I might get hurt, or even die. I don’t want to die; am a bit of a coward. One has to die of old age, in any case.
*
I’m sure that Buddhi Perera, Plato, Maithri, you, and me, share much in common.
Don’t particularly like Colonialist Rudyard Kipling, or his poem, although his Jungle Tales are wonderfully written.
News today is that Maithri won’t compromise more than is necessary in the dirty game of politics. Let’s temper Idealism with Realism!

This is the Sin of Chandrika and Sobitha Thero created. Specially Chandrika saved these guys by stopping UNHRC moving its case to UN.
She played her game and overturned Old King’s well expected victory. She put her and Lankawe innocent Modayas(ignorant mass) safety into jeopardy.

Sirisena has once again taken his extended family on a tour of Korea!! This disgusting man got his Foreign Ministry to denounce North Korea over its missile tests and is obviously fishing for rewards from the Sourh Koreans. The question is why should SRI Lanka make itself a target for North Korean aggression ? Why must he endanger SRI Lanka unnecessarily? The only reason I can see is – personal gain.
What a shameless President!
/
karen / November 30, 2017
For all his talk, MS is just that.. all talk. His passions are to bring the SLFP to the forefront and keep the presidency. He doesn’t give a damn about the rest of Sri Lanka or else there would have been drastic changes by now. Especially knowing how our politicians love to suck up to those in power.
