Mahason Balakaya leader Amith Weerasinghe was granted bail by the Colombo Additional Magistrate a short while ago indicating tough times for ahead for the Muslim community. It was Weerasinghe who led the mobs to attack Muslim homes in Digana, Kandy in 2018.

The racist thug who is known for spreading vitriol against Muslims was arrested on May 14, just a day after anti-Muslim riots spread in several parts of the country including Minuwangoda and Kuliyapitiya.
Weerasinghe’s release comes just days after the release of BBS Galagoda Atte Gnanasara and it has been less than 24 hours since Muslim politicos resigned from their Ministerial portfolios following unrest that erupted in various parts of Sri Lanka yesterday. Kandy, particularly was a hotbed where mobs pressuring the Government to bow down to the demands made by Rathana thera who began a protest fast demanding the sacking of Minister Rishard Bathiudeen and ex-Governors Azath Salley and A L M Hizbullah, were out and about.
It was at a presser last evening in Temple Trees that Muslim Ministers told media that they have resigned from their Ministerial portfolios in a bid to ensure that investigations into Easter attacks continue without undue interference. Among those resigned included four Cabinet Ministers, four state ministers and one Deputy Minister.
Speaking at the presser SLMC Leader Rauff Hakeem told media they expect the government to provide necessary and adequate security to the Muslim community.
Last afternoon Governor Hizbullah and Salley tendered their resignations to Sirisena stating it is to ensure safety of the Muslim community in Sri Lanka.

Rishard put up a big show in the parliament today. He was strongly attacking Old King implying that he was Master Minding the riots on Muslims and NCM on him, while he was claiming that it was Muslim community recued the country from LTTE terrorism, rather than Old king. Through the most of his diatribes, Rishard sounded like” we saved the country from LTTE terrorism, so we deserve the priority, Sinhalese must recognize it”. Rishard was struggling to drive deeply the wedge between Tamils and Sinhalese in his stifling to save his head. While Rishard was teaching other Muslim crook politicians that unity is the shield to save their heads but he said if he is guilty he is willing to accept even capital punishment. But his entire eloquent speech missed the important to explain, why such a statesman, a Gentleman waited until to all the Muslim ministers are united to resign.
Apparently if he has been ready to let the investigation go, I don’t think it was needed that all UNP and SLFP Muslim Ministers should have jointly resigned only after 4th day of the Ratnam’s fasting. Claiming it was not out of fear, but to save some body doesn’t make sense. As a decent politician, on the first day when it was suggested that Rishard was connected with the terrorism and a parliament selected committee formed, he should have tendered his voluntary interdiction until the selected committee investigation was over. If not guilty report was delivered by he committee, he then faces NCM. If he has not lost confidence in NCM, he may demand back to his minster post.
