Rajapaksa Aide, Thirukumar Nadesan Arrested Over Basil’s Malwana Land

Businessman and close aide of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Thirukumar Nadesan was arrested today morning over the 16 acre land in Malwana, allegedly owned by former Minister Basil Rajapaksa.

Thirukumar Nadesan

Thirukumar Nadesan

Nadesan, who is also the husband of Rajapaksa’s niece, Nirupama Rajapaksa, was the owner of the Malwana land prior to transferring it to Muditha Jayakody

He was arrested when he arrived at the FCID to give a statement with regard to the plot of land, which was ordered to be auctioned by the Court last week.

On Friday, Pugoda Magistrate D. A. Ruwanpathirana ordered authorities to auction the luxury villa and the 16 acre land in Malwana, after Rajapaksa denied ownership. The villa was built at a cost of Rs. 240 million.

The deed of the land was in Nadesan’s name prior to transferring it to Muditha Jayakody, a close associate of Basil Rajapaksa and owner of the Muditha Jayakody architect firm. Rajapaksa is alleged to have given the necessary finances to Jayakody, asking him to take care of all expenses in the construction of the villa.thirukumar

I wonder whether the FCID informed President Sirisena before making the arrest. I wish the writer of the story had given some background information about Mr. Nadesan’s involvement in this affair.

is that so difficult to trace the income levle of Muditha andhis firm before the collossal sums were transfered to his account ?

You dont need to be even highly experienced officers in accountancy to collect the kind of information.

If the income levels of Muditha Jayakody would not meet with the sums, no doubt, 50% or most known high profile criminal -Basil should have transfered them to him.

Now are the judges or anyone with a law degree shoudl realize, that Basil is making roundabout to escape from the high profile fraud. But the bugger does all these with a cunning smile… All these become clear to us just the public, but not to Judges.. why ? There is a really something within lanken judiciary…. being that unable to perform their duties in compliance with the international standards.

This is why we need foreign help in strengtherning the law and order issues in this country, if the govt is genuine, no doubt, developed countries will help them in that regards. Foreign assistance in getting shaped up the lanken laws and orders.. so that murderers or high criminals can be caught easily.

It is always better if both Maithree and Ranil stay away permanently where they are now so that independent commissions do a good job without poking the dirty hands of both of them

In the lanken context, i mean the current SLFP party problems presz has to deal with idiots else, he would loose everything. That is the reason why I believe is behind all these.
Else, he was bold as we the one stood against high abuses and corruptoin that was ramphant by MR administration. Even today, we get to here more of them. How Rajakashe men had been able to twist anything and everything in favour of all high crimes. People had not the least human rights served for them. There are vulnerable masses in this country stood by them .. that hs been the tradition in srilanka and entire developing world with so called elections.

Had the rulers long ago succeeded Meeharaka et al being caught by horns and kept in jail, we woudl have marched that much towards the progress of everything.

Now with all being unhappy the way nothing is achieved in the line of getting them caught for all high crimes, it is no easy for the current govt.
I believe – this is a transition period of lanken politics.
They have to achieve all these for a better govt that will have to be built up later.

Now it is also high time FCID and CID to bring an analysis containing all the checks and balances in terms of the on going investigations and their pace being caught by stumbling blocks as never thought prior to go for investigations.

Why this particular Nadeshan to be away from being arrested sofar should be made clear to the nation…..

Why SRILANKEN airline and its mountain like abuses are not being investigated yet ? Who are all behind these investigations ?

This man should have been arrested long ago or not ?

Why the current men stay mum on high crimes of the kind ?

Whenever whatever was alleged to have carried out by Basil Rajakashe, was escaped sofar… why ?

Are srilanken inlcuding judges and all lawful bodies that stupid ?

Btw What happened to Ex JMO who allowed Wasim s body parts let collcted by SAITEM ?
Even today Wasims family has been served the due justice.

What progress has been made towards to serving justice to date by the new govt ? Can anyone bring a balanced analysis please ?

      NV ,

He is the one who negotiated the peaceful power transfer from Mahinda to Ranil on 9 th morning ;consequently, Ranil had struck a secret pact with the clan ;as a result , none of the immediate Mafia family members have been penalised/punished thus far !
MY3 as predicted ,can’t be trusted at all , his foremost priority is none other than his beloved SLFP , everything else would come second for him . my reading is MY3 is planning for his 2 nd term ; thus , he wants his trusted OLD guard SLFPers support , in-other words nationalistic /racist elements of that party. Popular so called sinhala Buddhist label would do the trick ;accordingly , MY3 would protect the so called war heroes , simply by hiding under UK’s prime minister Theresa May’s rhetoric. Theresa May had wowed to protect her defence forces from a possible war crime charges ;hence , our champion is said to be following her foot step. what a convenient ploy for him . “killing two birds with one stone ” comes to my mind ,NV !

MY3 had let us down on numerous occasions , be specific , here is the list

        1) Appointing his sibling as the top man for the top company even before the ink get dried out of his signature of that fateful swearing in ceremony on 9 th Jan.

        2) Giving nominations for almost all the mega crooks of the party.

        3) Appointing defeated crooks as the ministers.

4)Appointing some of the notorious Rajapakse lackeys as his confidants ( Chamuditha Samarawickrama , Intelligence chief Salley et al .)

        5) Trying to protect the very same murderous who were going to kill him. ( according to him , Had he lost the election , he would have been under 6 foot )

        6) Directly interfering with the law & order of the country.

Why should Ranil ever do a deal with Rajapakshas on the 9th Jan 15 dawn. The newly elected President received his mandate from the people, the voters and not the losers. Why should Ranil do any deals, and even if it was done to get them off their asses from the government property and to send the army general home, there is no need to be a slave to such deal. The dealmay have been domne under duress, and so should not have any validity. Ranil is such a shady character we cannot trust him to uphold the law. Now we find even the Presdient is into this complicity with his public speeches criticizing the work of invesdtigators of corruption. Do the PM and Prez approve of corruption then?

Arresting people is becoming increasingly commonplace in Sri Lanka.Arresting limits freedom of the person who was arrested. Someone should be arrested only if it is really essential. Before arresting officers should investigate all the available facts. But in Sri Lanka, it seems arresting first and then starting investigation.

Independent commissions should carry out unbiased investigation independently without violating human rights. That is how they will be independent. If they try to satisfy an interested party or parties, then whole objectives of establishing independent commission would be ruined.

On the first visit if some one was arrested means what?

President Sirisena you have disappointed us! We worked very, I stress very hard towards your victory. I must also say we are not into politics and it was my second time voting in this country! Case with our close friends that did the same is not very different either. We did so to send home a regime that was pillaging our country. I hope some trusted advisor will translate all this honestly and explain it to you.

Thirukumar Nadesan who transferred the property to Muditha Jayakody, a close associate of Basil Rajapaksa and owner of the Muditha Jayakody architect firm has been arrested but not the person who financed the construction of the mansion. Muditha Jayakody too should be arrested for building the luxury house without knowing who the owner is. It looks like Nadesan being a Tamil was a soft target. So far the master crooks Basil and Gotabhaya Rajapaksas have been left alone. No one dare to touch them.

Nelson Rockerfeller, when once asked whether he can swear that he earned all his millions honestly, replied that he could do so, excepting the first million. The situation of Thiru is no different. He too should be having dirty linen. But if the Police arrest him and keep on remanding him then people can interpret that he is arrested for being related to the Jarapassa’s. I am convinced that he is the dealer under cover to Basil.

But is the Police doing the job properly to bring the culprits to book? I don’t think so. Purposely they are just sweeping here and there. Now the author of this article himself reveals that Muditha Jayakody is the owner of this property. So there is an owner of this property. Then why bring Basil to court and on his saying that he is not the owner the order is given to auction the property, presuming that it has no owner and therefore belongs to state? This is a circus. In fact all of us are being taken for a ride.

The whole case propped up upon Muditha Jayakody making a statement to the Police denying that he is the owner but Basil is the owner. Police should have asked him the basis for making the statement when the documents such as deeds show other-wise. Instead they bring in Basil Jarapassa to court and he denies ownership as predicted. In fact I beleieve that the real requirement is to get a court order for the auction of the property. Reality could be that Muditha was only the owner in theory and a cover for Basil. WHY DID NOT THE POLICE PRODUCE PROPER EVIDENCE IN COURT THAT IN FACT MUDITHA WAS HOLDING THE PROPERTY FOR BASIL AND GET BASIL MARCHING TO WELIKADA AS PROPER PRISONER WEARING THE SHORTS INSTEAD OF A REMANDEE?
