Nadesan, who is also the husband of Rajapaksa’s niece, Nirupama Rajapaksa, was the owner of the Malwana land prior to transferring it to Muditha Jayakody
He was arrested when he arrived at the FCID to give a statement with regard to the plot of land, which was ordered to be auctioned by the Court last week.
On Friday, Pugoda Magistrate D. A. Ruwanpathirana ordered authorities to auction the luxury villa and the 16 acre land in Malwana, after Rajapaksa denied ownership. The villa was built at a cost of Rs. 240 million.
The deed of the land was in Nadesan’s name prior to transferring it to Muditha Jayakody, a close associate of Basil Rajapaksa and owner of the Muditha Jayakody architect firm. Rajapaksa is alleged to have given the necessary finances to Jayakody, asking him to take care of all expenses in the construction of the villa.
