By Mangala Samaraweera –
Having failed in successive witch hunts to discredit me since I parted company with the President in 2007, the Rajapaka regime seems to have embarked on yet another attempt to incarcerate and silence me by preparing to invoke an archaic Victorian law of the Sri Lankan penal code against me.
The cat burglar who was caught red handed by the police on New Year’s Eve with some alcohol stolen from my house and confessed in the Police statement to breaking into my house forcibly has now been turned into a ‘Star’ by the state media and the state sponsored private media. This young man, an occasional casual hand in my household until he was admitted to a drug rehabilitation centre some time ago by his family has now been brought in front of the cameras to hurl obnoxious and baseless allegations against me in keeping with the conspiracy to invoke Section 365A of the penal code which has never been utilised in recent times.
My private life, though private has never been a secret. My mother, my family and friends as well as most of my Parliamentary colleagues including my constituents whom I have represented with love and dedication for the last 25 years have appreciated my honesty and for never allowing my private life to get in the way of public service. However, today the Rajapaksa regime, in preparation for provincial elections to be followed by Presidential elections seems to be hell bent on destroying me using the confused hallucinations of a misguided youth.
If the Rajapaksa regime thinks that I could be intimidated and silenced by such conspiracies, they are sadly mistaken. Attempting to invoke this archaic law in direct violation of the Commonwealth charter, whose current custodian is President Rajapaksa will prove beyond any reasonable doubt that he is not suitable to hold such a post and that Sri Lanka is now rapidly moving away from the fundamentals of a modern democracy. In fact, the Rule of law has deteriorated to such an extent, that a simple police complaint made on behalf of an opposition politician is used to sling mud and as a means of initiating a witch hunt against him while killers, rapists, drug lords and money launderers with blessings from the highest, are allowed to continue their criminal activities with impunity.
Under the Rajapaksa presidency, the country has been sucked into a black hole of intolerance, hypocrisy and despair. This in fact makes me more determined to fight against this dark and evil regime with more vigour and dedication in the months ahead.

As once revealed by his cousins, Rajapakshe is unpredictable by all means. To this day, he has strengthened his power by appointing to his siblings, offsprings, relatives into any department (incl. media and defence) that no recourse from opposition parties can work on them. This is seen to general public as opposition is weakened as never before.
/
Athula / January 22, 2014
Simple points – 1 why would Mangala not present a private members bill abolishing the law or openly speak of it – in his statement there is no mention of gay, same sex or homosexual. 2 He is a hypocrite- he single-handedly prevented his now ‘good’ friend Ranil becoming president by paying in a large some of money to the most barbaric terrorist, Prabhakara, thereby perverting the course of democracy. 3 He has never apologized to the public from bringing MR into power – at least some remorse.
Self-serving and arrogant, he has no place int the so-called leadership council as the person who was most responsible for the present state of the UNP

Recently I heard a hypothesis advanced stating that Siddhartha Gauthama, the Buddha may have been gay? to have left his wife, the day his child was born and shacked up with Ananda.????? Why was the wife’s brother, Devadatta so mad with the Buddha??????? What would make a Brother mad against a sisters husband who had abandoned her and was living with Ananda???? Makes you wonder????

Sure. Dyshy will get an earful from extremist monks.
If published in SL Dushy can forget proceeding beyond immigration for his vacations in Sri Lanka.
Nevertheless, Dushy has a right to publish his “hypothesis”. We must defend that right.
It is good these things are talked about in the open. Rather than in mysterious prayer rooms.
Besides we should be allowed to discuss and debate sexuality of founders of religions. Why not? One will only be offended if one believes being gay is immoral or insulting. And it is not.
In any case, being good buddhists we must tolerate insults, however deep they may be. That was what Lord Buddha preached.
Some believe that Jesus was lucky to get just crucified. For walking around and telling everyone he was God. That being gay allegation aside.
Some believe Prophet Mohammed was an incurable womanizer. Even worse a pedophile. Coz’ he had child brides as young as twelve.
Child abuse is widespread in particualar churches worldwide. Many monks have relationships with women. And the list is long.
And thanks to funding and evangelizing by resourceful, extremist, American christians, homophobia in Africa now is unprecdented.
Cheers!

This hypothesis has been doing the rounds for a long long time. All indications are Buddha was a homosexual.
Also that Buddha was not a prince but a commoner. To make it easier for the caste based society of the time to accept the philosophy of a low caste man, priestcraft elevated him to the status of a prince.
Chronicling the genealogy was never the strong points of ancient India. Therefore the mythmakers had a field day starting from Aswagosha’s epic poem called ‘Buddhacarita’ to the Mahawamsa of more recent times.

There is on going chatter that a grand coalition is to be formed to rid the country of the family and that Mangala, Chandrika Ranil Wickremasinghe are the ones who have hatched this plan. I think this is true judging by the anti-Chandrika, anti Ranil and anti Mangala stories that appear too frequently these days especially in ‘Ceylon Today’ owned by Tiran Alles – a friend of the family. The fun part is that in today’s ‘Ceylon Today’ Hemantha Warnakulasuriya had written an article condemning Chandrika for whatever she did. What he says may be true, but why now? hmmmm. And also Kumar David had cast aspersions on Chandrika too in the same paper today. Why should Kumar David do the dirty for the family? Another hmmmmm?

Are you a closet gay?
/
Michael Ranasinghe / January 22, 2014
Chandrika had her share of mistakes but let me give two examples i was personally witness to which alone makes her an angel compared to the demons that rule this country to ruin. The first example is when Yashodara was a maid of honour for one of her friends in St. MARY’S CHURCH Lauries Road. On the request of the then Parish Priest Rev..FR. Lucien Depp not a single security person was within the church premises. Mind you this was at the height of the war but she respected the request of a priest who did not want weapons inside a place of worship. A few weeks back in this same church the aerobics teacher of the first lady wanted to have a mass to celebrate her wedding anniversary and what a show she made of it. Security was swarming the area and guess who patronized the church with the first lady ? Their newly adopted daughter Princess Hirunika.
The second examples want to share is the simplicity of Vimukthi her son. I was at the boarding area at the air port ready to take a flight to the Maldives. Suddenly i noticed a familiar person and realised it was Vimukthi who was peacefully reading a book without even the sight of security any where near. An elderly lady was brought in a wheel chair and i saw Vimukthi walk up to the officials and discuss something after which they came and discussed something with this elderly lady who i saw look at Vimukthi and say you are a kind young man not knowing who he was as believe he had instructed the officials not to reveal his identity. When i boarded the plane i realised what he had done. He had given his business class seat to this lady and taken her economy class seat and there he was seated in the seat next to mine.
We need to rid this country from this family and who ever comes forward should immediately scrap this curse of Executive Presidency and restore law and order and the rights of all who live in this wonderful Island. When there is law there is equality , when there is equality there is prosperity and with prosperity there is always peace. That’s the cycle.

I went to Katunayake to take a flight to London when Mrs.B was PM. One of her brothers came in to take a flight when several officials came to his assistance to offer him priority attention in the line, Customs process and so on. He politely turned these down and took the flight – going through the processes standing in line – like any other person.
CBK bringing up her children – keeping away from those super-expensive and drug-inflicted night clubs with contingents of security attending to them – is being remembered fondly. I recall many who knew the family saying when they enquired from CBK of her children the answer was “upstairs – in their studies” Both have since become Graduates from recognised Universities – as I learn.
The situation is totally different, painfully atrocious and ugly today.

Mrs B was a world figure – BEING THE FIRST EVER FEMALE PM TO ENTIRE WORLD. She deserved all respect if her wish was to die as a PM. People and westerners to call her brought kitchen qualificatons is a different story.
But today^s PM is ( wrong or right) connected with drug dealings…. as I read somewhere, the guy who dealt with the heavy loads of Herroiene is a friend of DM^s son.
I know how much respect she earned among Europeans and Chinese then.
Today if China stands by us, not because of magician-MR but thanks to MrsB and their dip relations that continued from that days on.
/
Ben Hurling / January 24, 2014
Hichchi Putha,
“BEING THE FIRST EVER FEMALE PM TO ENTIRE WORLD”.
That was not based on merit or hardwork by Mrs. B. Just the result of a common disease that plague terribly under develeoped nations in South Asia. Desperate & destructive family dynasties.
She was no Margaret Tatcher or Hillary Clinton. These women overcame extra-ordinary obstacles on their path to high offices. Hillary Clinton is sill struggling to get there.
Current PM Dimu is a long standding henchman of Mrs. B’s family. Dimu has learned from Mrs. B to stay in office. And never to leave it. Even if you are not healthy enough for the that vital office.
If any of these people loved Sri Lanka above themselves, they would have left on their free will. Long time ago.
One such leader was Mandela. Who deserves our respect.
While I am thankful for Chinese support for tiny Sri Lanka. I am not willing to concede all credit to Mrs. B.
Global geo-politics are a bit more complicated and hypocritical than your Mrs. B worshipping tiny mind may have realized.
Cheers!

Section 365A of the Penal Code obviously contradicts the fundamental rights in the Constitution and particularly Article 12 (2) which declares “No citizen shall be discriminated against on the grounds of race, religion, language, caste, sex, political opinion, place of birth or any such grounds.” The Penal Code should have been changed long time ago accordingly.
What should be unequivocally condemned is the political witch-hunt carried out against one individual, on the basis of personal sexual preference.

Ask him how many women he slept with. This is a witch hunt, be brave Mangala, whether you are gay or not is not our concern. They are frighten of you.. Carry on with your work.

Does Dushy Ranatunga like sodomy between males ?..
If not why would he come up with his ludicrous and abhorrent hypothesis to disparage Lord Buddha and insult his followers world wide ?,,.
Buddhism is the biggest religion on earth. It is the only religion which is in perputual growth, from East to West and North to South including the Christian West which give comforts to even low life people who make insulting comments to other Religions and their Leaders.
Mangala Samraweera is a well know homosexual even according to the US Embassy staff.
How many innocent young males has he violated?.
It is common knowledge that some Visitors from the West engage in such activities ,exploiting the poverty in poor Nations in Asia..
But the second in command in the UNP ,and the potential FM or even the PM of a future Govt if the West suceeds in installing one, to engage in homosexual acts with young boys is unbelievable.
Dushy Ranatunga who is sure to be rewarded for the services to his mate Mangala in particular will end up as an Ambassor or a HC
Is this a guide to the calibre of people which the HR loving and caring West will hoist on our poor inhabitants?…

Buddhism is a religion in the traditional sense, it is a philosophy. The Buddha wasn’t a lord and he expressely stated he was not to be worshipped .

Metaphorically the Photo above says it all, where MR is trying to take the speck in Mangala’s eye, while MR is unable to take out the mole in his own.

Great, Gamini :) Good morning to you from Switzerland.
This man -MR is my number one enemy. The growing masses will feel that in the days to come. I have no doubt about that.

“This man -MR is my number one enemy.”
What about the new enemy LTTE rump Tamil diaspora?
“Hatred is corrosive of a person’s wisdom and conscience; the mentality of enmity can poison a nation’s spirit, instigate brutal life and death struggles, destroy a society’s tolerance and humanity, and block a nation’s progress to freedom and democracy.”

NV@,
you may be right but I really dont think TD could be worst than the idiot ruling the country. TD will have to help their kith and kin if things would turn better for the in the northern soils. What we the srilankens are facing today, that there is no RULE OF LAW… lawless situation is contrast to this date. This is being passed to you being on a train, … appologies. typos. hope IC to isolate MR regime soon. Let s it after March UNHRC sessions. JAYA NIYATHAI… today s situ is tantamount to what we faced in late 80ties in the country.

I hold the traditional conservative view on what now goes as Gays. But one has to accept the views of a changing world. When a noted academic was asked to identify some new features of the contemporary world as opposed to the centuries past, he identified two
(1) the treatment of prisoners by today’s world
(2) the attitude on homosexuals and lesbians.
While both were subject to harsh punishment by most societies, the coming of the present age is ready to look at matters afresh. Today’s world lays much emphasis on Human Rights and has brought forth fresh thinking to those who were identified as queer in their sexual orientation. In the USA the question of “don’t ask don’t tell” became a raging debate. Matters are being looked at more understandingly
there today. Some might even say they have gone far off the limits.
Mangala S boldly states his case. He must be allowed his privacy so long as it does not intrude into his public life. Aberrations, if I am permitted the word, must be kept within and with as less fanfare. As Oscar Wilde predicted in his infamous trial the time has now come for the world to look at this subject differently.
It is not only the UNP that is full of left-handers. In the Govt there are some at the top who are both right and left handers.
