Easter Sunday massacre is perhaps the biggest setback Sri Lankans have had to face in the last ten years. How barbaric can a human being be to bomb people at prayer? The attacks were coordinated but the responses by an inept government and stalking opposition were not. The politicians have reached a new low and so has been the debate by a foolish, slavish majority. It is widely known that Sri Lankans have given a new meaning to “literacy levels”.
They imagine that they are highly literate (not intelligent or wise) and mistake it for wisdom and high capacity of thought. Stuff and nonsense. One has only to scroll down articles in social media to the comments section and all of them descend to support the Rajapaksa clan and or Wickremesinghe or castigating one or the other. That is the sum total of our literate debate.
The dastardly act is done. Families have been dismembered. The impact on the surviving members will be felt once the dust settles. Sri Lanka has to think positive. The narrative must move from tragedy to a positive mode to bring normalcy and get the economy back on track. People have shown that they wish to forge a single identity and recognise the diversity of race and religion. There is no time to vacillate. The empathy of the international community will last until the next catastrophe elsewhere.
What is shocking is that the Rajapaksa clan have not changed their style nor lost any shame in the face of this national tragedy. Mahinda ran to the scene of the crime to score some brownie points. It did not take long for Gotabaya and Mahinda to blame the government for not taking action on intelligence reports received prior to attacks. That is a valid charge. But they did not stop at that. They went on to say,
a) The present government imprisoned Army Intelligence Officers,
b) Gotabaya reasserted that he will run for President and crack down on Islamic terrorism.
How naive or how smart are they? The answer to that remains as to how intelligent or stupid Sri Lankans are.
The Intelligence Group who are imprisoned are held on charges of murder, rape, abduction and other offences. They have been committed to remand by a Judge and not a political party. That too for carrying out orders of, well you know who.
If this Intelligence Group was not in prison, the Rajapaksa’s allude that the suicide bombings would not have taken place. They would have acted upon the intel reports. Whoa!!!
How was it that the very same Intelligence Groups who are now in remand but very much active during Gotabaya’s reign as Secretary to the Ministry of Defence did not even get the intel that the LTTE was going to bomb him at Colpetty? Huh?
During the multi-religious meeting with President Sirisena, the Chief Mufti informs Maithripala Sirisena that as far back as 2014 he met Gotabaya, who was the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and warned him about this same radical Muslim group but he did nothing more than pass it on to his Army Intelligence team who in turn turned a blind eye. Let us sympathise with the families that lost members and do what is necessary to compensate them. Let us lend support to the injured and pray for their recovery. Let us stand together as one nation accepting the diversity of race and religion. But most of all respecting our fellow human beings. Once that is done, let us not vote for this bunch.

My first address to the Handle “Amarasiri”: It is not IW, but IQ. Assume it is a typo.
However, to judge a person’s actions by his/her IQ demands a different analysis. I’ve observed the subscriber with the handle “Amarasiri” making many irrelevant and unintelligent comments, thus wasting the time of some of the more aware subscribers of CT.
I suggest you look @ the following:
1. Do read the article in full, and understand the meaning, as well as the insights of the writer before you start to comment.
2. Decide on the areas that you are confident to comment on, rather than “shooting from the hip”, since most of your comments carry a personal bias, leading to a negative Kurtosis factor, when analyzing your comments against the original author’s intentions.
3. Do avoid copying the key parts of the article as half of your response and include them in the first paragraph of your response, which is your standard practice. Not that the respondents have already read the original article (not once, but may be multiple times) before reading your comments, thus your repetition of the contents of the original articles makes little sense to any intelligent reader.
5. Since of late you’ve developed the habit of publishing your comments in parts (including a word count). I am baffled to understand what your intent is, since many of the subscribers to CT do not seem to have read your part comments, thus the Handle, “Amarasiri”,

You do have a valid point which should be investigated by Sri Lankan Intelligence. The timing of this attack, when the Presidential elections are just a few months away makes one wonder whether someone with vested interests got it activated. ISIS no longer has any hold in Syria and it is now a spent force. When something like this happens in a tiny island called Sri Lanka, the ISIS leader will be very happy to cling on to that and claim responsibility to show that they are still alive and kicking! We should not be fooled by that statement. A breeding ground for terrorism was laid in Sri Lanka for radical Muslims when innocents were attacked by BBS. It looks like someone is using these radicals with funds to further a political objective. The important point here is in identifying that person who got Thowheed Jamath to go on the rampage. Incidentally, why is BBS silent? There seem to be wheels within wheels.

If not would they ALLOW and TOLERATE a meeting to be organized by the “Ex Defense Secretary” Gotabaya Rajapakse, of all the “Ex Chiefs” of Defense Forces and have a meeting with the Opposition Leader MR? The worse situation is, that at the meeting the Leader of the Opposition called for a “Report” on the present situation. Weren’t they (Rajapakses) are aware or more correctly chose to ignore that a Presidential Commission is in operation and a report is expected within two weeks. What “RIGHT” this Leader of the Opposition has to “Chair” a meeting organized by the “Ex Defense Secretary”? In this “Disturbed” and “Muddied” situation of the country, they (Rajapakses) are the first to spread the “SLOGAN” _ “How can a county’s defense be maintained, when the Intelligence Services personnel are imprisoned”? Didn’t even the President echoed this “Slogan”? We know WHY some of such “Personnel” are behind bars and how some even “ESCAPED” arrest through the loop holes of the Legal System. All of those so called “HEROES” are made to account for “Grave Crimes” committed during their tenure of services. Rajapakses are AWARE of it and they want by hook or crook to take them out for their escape too depends on that. That “MEETING” held yesterday , organized by Gotabahya must be VIEWED very seriously and all the MPs in Parliament must (if they have any gray matter in their brains) must DEMAND and explanation from the Leader of the Opposition. More than anything else this “TREND” and the “SINISTER PLAN” must be nipped in the bud.
