The Joint Opposition said today that Mahinda Rajapaksa’s Media Secretary and Chairman of the Carlton Sports Network (CSN) Rohan Weliwita who is currently out on bail, is contemplating suing the Singapore government for deporting him.

Weliwita was deported back to Sri Lanka upon his arrival in Singapore this week, by the Singapore Immigration and Emigration officials, who initially interrogated him for over three hours, before deporting him. He was scheduled to participate in the Broadcast Asia Exhibition, in Singapore.
Weliwita who is currently out on bail over alleged money laundering charges at CSN, was permitted by the Court to travel overseas, the Joint Opposition said. “We believe there is more to his deportation than meets the eye, even though the Court permitted him to travel overseas, maybe there is a hidden hand behind this incident. He is contemplating legal action against the Singaporean Government for deporting him,” the Joint Opposition said.
Early this year, former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s son Yoshitha, Rohan Weliwita, Nishantha Ranatunga and two directors of the CSN TV Channel Ravinath Fernando and Kavishan Dissanayake were arrested over money laundering charges. They are all currently out on bail.

once in my life I was delayed both at canada and singapore while carrying EU passport and had nothing to declare. They never tried to deport and and it was not my first visit.
When I got back I wrote to the chief and it was answered by a team member covering the bugger who questioned.
Then went my second letter though he had no question and this was answered by the deputy agreeing to some vague points.
finally my 3rd went to chief and I received a half hearted apology requesting me to appreciate some of the problems they encounter.
i sent a thank you and never have they delayed me ever again.

Now I am in Sri Lanka and talking to few lawyers. If it fails, I have plan B and plan C. Those plan B and C will make Australia and its Western allies very uncomfortable. The Sri Lankan judiciary is not “Sinhalese” judiciary. It represents all ethnic groups in the country. The present Chief Justice is not a Sinhalese. The issue is not that. The issue is Dr. Gnana insults “the Sinhalese Judges”. Why only “Sinhalese” when the judiciary in Sri Lanka is comprised of all ethnic groups? There is an urgent need to bring the whole system [not only the judiciary]into a nation friendly one and that lies in the hands of people of our county like you and me.
No, those judges who are in other jurisdictions have not left the country. Hope they will be back with enormous experience and knowledge and will definitely contribute to the proper administration of justice and the development of law back in home in time to come. Many of them still belongs to the home judiciary. They have not just left the country by betraying the field. They have served the country with integrity and to the best of their ability by sacrificing their personal life most of the times. And they surely will once again when they are back. They have not fled the country.
Examples can be given to point out corrupt judges. Yet, please give a patient hearing – the entire judiciary is not corrupt. Because of the sinful acts of few,it stinks the whole. You and I are praying for a day that we see at least a clean judiciary.Surly we will. And that itself isn’t enough. I need not tell you what, you are brain enough.

Gonna ge ticks and tricks,
At the end of the day they are a brand of brief-less lawyers who are “appointed by politicos” and a case is lost or won by one word of dictionary but if the politico at the top decides (the one who pays them the salary) the case must be decided his way – all that integrity goes down the flush- he is checked for this ability before being appointed.
It is very easy to find a Sinhalese to do this – eg Pol Kudu Silva even in the UK. That is where Obama and the Irish used the Portuguese at Europe and its when they take the ride to permanency the Dutch get in their way and blow them off the trail.
Don’t tell me I know this world wide even in the UK.
