Ranil Takes Refuge In Constitution While Sirisena Camp Struggles To Oust Him

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said at a media conference held today at Temple Trees that he will continue as Prime Minister in accordance with constitutional provisions.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe

This was the first time that Wickremesinghe addressed the media following the electoral debacle suffered by the party he leads, the United National Party (UNP), at the hands of the recently formed Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP).

Wickremesinghe did not allude to rumors about defections from and to the UNP, although it was reported that President Sirisena had asked Nimal Siripala Silva to show majority support in Parliament for the purpose of taking over from Wickremesinghe.

Wickremesinghe said that he is waiting for the President to return from Polonnaruwa to meet him regarding the current impasse where Parliamentary composition does not reflect the will of the people, going by results of the local government elections.

Colombo Telegraph learns that there are feverish discussions behind closed doors as both the UNP and SLFP struggle to put together numbers that would make it possible to form a stable government.

Wickremesinghe, obviously referring to the apparent dismay and dissent within the party following the electoral defeat, also stated that the UNP would be restructured to build a new leadership group. This is however not the first time that he has promised to put in place such mechanisms in moments of political uncertainty.

Except for one or two bloggers this place has become a sanctuary for failed UNP supporters. So, Yeah keep backing the loser bank robbers if it makes you feel better. But don’t hold your breath too long. He will follow the same path that Nero took. To me rogues in smart black suits and/or Royal dropouts are just as despicable as rogues in waetties. BTW don’t think that I am enamoured with the winners either, but I believe on setting a fire to kill another fire. A fresh election is the answer in my book and let the people decide whom they want to lead the country, hopefully not the bunch of crooks that we trusted and brought to power. Curses to them!

Accept God and Lord Jesus as your saviour. Reject false prophets and idols and false faiths you have there. Then your nation will have good governance. Rosy is an example. You must reject hatefilled religions that kill and behead and others that worship idols. Accept Lord Jesus and Sri Lanka will become another Singapore because god will look kindly upon you.

      Born again

Wonder whether to like or dislike as you’re 50% reasonable & 50% unreasonable.

Shall we be faithful to humanity; that means to our own strength rather than to unseen gods & lords; that’d bring all the people to a common ground.

The problem today is not because that gods don’t look kindly @ us; it’s inability of ourselves to look @ each other with kind & compassion.

Can you name one country which has accepted Jesus as Lord and God and has had “good governance”?

Did your example, Singapore, accept Jesus as God and Lord?

Many countries have accepted Lord Jesus and God but have been badly let down. Why? What is so good in Rosy? She through her son was trying to protect the bond rogues.

” Many countries have accepted Lord Jesus and God but have been badly let down. “

Come to think of it, crooks in 1972 added chapter II to the constitution as if it was the ultimate panacea. Well we know what happened. The chapter II not only failed to protect the country but also created more Sinhala/Buddhist fascists.

Don’t you remember how you mentally became a fully fledged Gota’s b***s carrying pathetic shameless ruthless fascist?

BornAgain fool, what idols Christians have in their churches, beside why they have Roman’s execution device the cross as holy in the church? Like Christian worship dead Jew’s (Jeusu) idol as god, the Buddhist worship dead Indian’s Idol as god and the Hindus worship hudreds of mythological idol’s including animals and human penis (Lingham) as gods. You all killed thousands of Tamils as terrorist, the West (US and Europe) killing hundreds of thousands of people in their own lands and what do call all those killings? Not killing? Okay donkey think again and tell me which religion do not worship idols or dead men?

        Mohomad.

Christians worship Jesus’ idol because they have that image.

Buddhists worship Buddha’s image (but not as a god) as they have it.

Hindus worship hundreds because they have the images

Muslims don’t worship idols as they don’t have the images.

It’s good to know worship is for thanks giving. praying is beyond that & that’s the worst. Haven’t you ever worshiped your parents, teachers, jilted girl friend/s etc.. they’re also like gods.

Hindus worship lingham as gods; isn’t it reasonable. it’s genuine & practical

All except Muslim men own one opposite sex (may be to)worship but Muslim men greedily have up to 4 wives (may be according to power) to worship. You may say you don’t worship but you do that. Your mind knows that..You keep them hidden considering they are chattel.

Aren’t there killing fields in the Middle East, Muslims killing Muslims?

What do you think about Taj Mahal, reason to build it. It’s to worship.

There’re a lot more to worship, be a practical man Mohomad, learn to worship idols

“Okay donkey think again and tell me which religion do not worship idols or dead men?”

Or cubes( Kabba)and go around them 7 times, based on the traditions from Babylon, Assyria, and Mesopotamia, of the heavenly bodies (Gods) going around a stationary Earth..

        Only Agnostics and Atheists!.

However, if you do, for psychological reasons and feel good reasons, because you have been brainwashed from a very young age, then it is your culture and tradition.

Is the Sun a God? Moon a God? or the Planets Gods?

Any data in support of the beliefs?

My prayer is President Sirisena at least now realizes his mistakes and do the correct thing in not supporting the back stabbing SLFP members. These SLFP members would not have had Ministerial posts if UNP did not establish the Yahapalana Government. One reason why Yahapalana Govt could not do some of the promised things such as new constitution is because the same SLFP MPs who are nationalist racists did not support the new constitution. Now for President to support these SLFP MPs will be a treacherous act, that is if he does support them.

This man has lost all sense of the purpose of politics and even human dignity. When does a utter failure decide to call it a day ?

His is a life based on bluff , lies and swindles. RWs life and politics have a meaning only to him . The rest of the people are wondering what this is all about.

No body wants him. But for the UNP Ranil is a cancer. As we know there is no cure for cancer . It will slowly kill the victim. The UNP is terminally ill. I am more convinced of this after seeing those thuggish young men said to be UNP MPs in front of the Temple Trees. A cancer case will attract only more disease.

People like Mahendran, Senasinghe, Harsha,Charitha,Ravi,Malik-conmen in tie and coat, are only symptoms of the deadly disease

Maybe another party must emerge to give a decent liberal democratic alternative to the people.Maybe the country is also too sick for a wholesome thing to happen.

It was amusing me to see in a Maharaja TV program the anchor was saying “they are doing all this to protect UNP”, what a scam! The same anchor also said that its only a “small group of UNP hard supporters” what are making acquisitions against Maharaja TV channels, hey you anchor you are wrong. I am not a UNP or for that matter any political party supporter, when I watch your political debates I feel you guys STINK. These guys are hoodwinking the masses. Its time the President brings some kind of control over the media becoming a political body. In developed democracies there is something called “Fact Checking”, its time for the Government to bring some sort of “Independent Fact Checking” mechanism especially on to the TV channels.

The TV channel Shakthi is having all its programmes and presenters Thamilahamized, apart making its news programmmes a laughing stock. No broadcasting etiquette News equated to commentaries. Partisan in every respect. The news readers speak within themselves. The viewers cannot understand what a woman and two men speak.Their borrowed TV serials accentuate violence and crime. So many things to say.All borrowed programmes from Thamilnadu should be heavily taxed to discourage showing third rate values. Will the President and P M will take proper legal action against the Channel?

Maharaja Org TV channels have still not learnt a lesson. Viewers are not stupid, we all see through the motivation of Sirasa and other Maharaja TV channel’s actions. Unfortunately the paid servants of this TV channels, especially the anchors are fast losing their respect and the trust of the viewers as they are playing to the tune of Killi. Unfortunately, Killi is jealous of any one else doing well in business in Sri Lanka. When ever another person does well, Killi attacks them through his TV channels, business personal jealousy. In addition Killi wanted Ranil to appoint some of his paid servants to be appointed as MPs and Ministers, for which Ranil did not agree, so Killi is trying hard to kick Ranil out. Killi or Maharaja TV has no place in changing a Prime Minister or a leader of a party. If they are trying then Maharaja TV channels are political parties. In that case does Sri Lankan laws allow Political TV Channels to operate. I am not sure of this. But if there is no law for Political TV Channels then its time we enact laws to stop this type of stupid manipulative TV Channels. All TV Channels in SL should be there to provide true information and not to form opinions. These channels should also Fact Check when false statements are made by the participants of political debates, unfortunately Maharaja TV Channels are the worst of all TV Channels in doing so. Some what Derana TV and Hiru TV do it (not Sanka of Hiru).

Except for a select handful , the so called peoples representatives in Parliament today are hell bent on retaining their positions in the Parliament, out of mortal fear that they will be brought before the Law once they loose their present usurped status. This reasoning and observations hold good for the President and Prime Minister as well. In fact the two leaders are more culpable. Some crimes committed by the last regime are not only National crimes but clearly crimes against humanity. The two leaders cannot deny that fact and that is why at the last two Elections they jointly made the promise to bring all criminals before the Law, but to date no one has been convicted. Now the two are facing the same music and are moving heaven and earth to escape the wrath. Yes, you may temporarily find a solution but it will be short lived. If as true Buddhists and saviours of the country as you have often mentioned you should both jointly make an apology to the Nation about your failure to keep your Election promises and renew that you will bring all criminals before Law and confiscate all that has been plundered and pillaged by all concerned. If you have the courage and sincerity you must do it as a last resort as any other manoeuvring aimed at remaining in power will be of no avail. Your close door discussions will not be digested by the people who put you in power. People are disgusted and we must see an end to this nonsense. Enough is enough.

For three years…………scammed the Central Bank, sold out Nations ancestral property to foreigners, messed around with the Constitution, destroyed the national psyche, sucked up to terrorist and foreign agents, manipulated the Aug 2015 elections, kept the mega rogues happy, pick pocketed the first round premiership, brought in discarded mates in for jobs……………..so one wants either of the top two. Oh what a performance !

Time to go, a million wishes. If either remains, next two years would be a living hell in parliament for both, and another disastrous and expensive episode for the struggling people.

    To ‘Born Again:

Sri Lanka, our beloved Lankadeepa shall remain a Buddhust Country despite all attempts, threats and propaganda to change its 2600 year old glorious identity. The so called almighty god (s) have no place in the great Buddha’s teaching. One can pray until the sun stop shining yet one’s Karma and Karma alone will decide one’s fate in this life and the hereafter.

Buddha disapproved the worshipping of idols and gods.

The famed Albert Einstein said it all when he said quote:

The religion of the future will be a cosmic religion. It should transcend personal God and avoid dogma and theology. Covering both the natural and the spiritual, it should be based on a religious sense arising from the experience of all things natural and spiritual as a meaningful unity. Buddhism answers this description. If there is any religion that could cope with modern scientific needs it would be Buddhism..

If Sri Lanka is a Buddhist country in its genuine form, why did the Theravada Buddhist Bikkus attack the Mahayana Bikkus establishing a chapter in Sri Lanka? All over the world if we carefully observe where Theravada is practiced there is violence committed by the Theravada Bikkus. In the countries where Mahayana Buddhism is practiced there is PEACE.

Park has made a valuable suggestion for some sort of checks on the electronic media in the country. He says MTV is stink and I say their behavior disgusting . They have no ethics or social responsibility. How sad the presenters ,some of whom are of good talents , being forced by their management to act so disgracefully.
Yes RW is a leech on UNP and now on the country too. That does not justify the low behavior of MTV.
While the country waited for news on current developments Rupavahini devoted almost half of its news time on celebrating its 36 th anniversary. What was so great about 36 . Whose idiotic idea was this?

Media will not reform itself. They have to be held accountable.

I just returned home after having a lovely “family time” in a restaurant with my two sons and my daughter-in-law and my lovely Grand Daughter who is almost 3 years old in a restaurant. During the dinner our discussion focused on the political drama that is ongoing in Sri Lanka. My son just returned from a trip this week after spending two weeks in Hong Kong (business) and two weeks in Sri Lanka (holidays). He made a statement which made me think a lot. He said after visiting Sri Lanka and Hong Kong, “Sri Lanka could have been a Hong Kong, but unfortunately we have missed it”. He said if we have not kicked the British out of the country (so called puffed up Nationalism we still have in Sri Lanka) we could have been better than Hong Kong today. I am wondering if he is correct. Since I am a person who has visited 58 countries, I think what my son said is correct. Let each one of us think of this!
