Ranil Will Take Oaths As Prime Minister On Sunday At 10 AM

UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe will take oaths as the Prime Minister on Sunday at 10 AM, the UNP confirmed.

President Maithripala Sirisena had a telephone conversation with Wickremesinghe, a short while ago, on the swearing-in event.

The ministers of the new Cabinet will take oaths on Monday, UNP sources added.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa will make a special statement tomorrow explaining reasons for his decision to step down from the fake ‘premiership.’

    What reasons MR has got? He was forced to resign and had no other alternative other than resigning. Had he stayed, he would have lost the premiership automatically once RW takes oath.

      It seems a gross miscalculation of the amounts stolen from the central bank heist. The amounts must be far greater than what was announced.
      While accusing the others of buying MPs it is evident who pays the best from lot who are stuck with the UNP.

      Ranil W,

      Why do you need to take the oath of PM a Second time? You never resigned, the parliament was not legally and constitutionally dissolved, and only the Fake PM was appointed and resigned.

      You married your wife once, none of you divorced, and why do you need a second wedding and a second swearing in? Someone should challenge this, second swearing in as unnessary.

      A good reason, however, is to make Sirisena eat crow, after 7 NCM against the Fake PM.

    Corks will be Popping like Fire crackers in Colombo Suburbs..
    Rajapaksa family better ask asylum to live at least in Shenzeng because Shanghai is so expensive…

    Dr Ranil is taking Mr Ravi karunanayaka with him to give Ravi the Oaths as Dr Ranil’s new Finance Minister.
    Imagine who Dr Ranil will pick to be the Minister of Law and Order..

    Sira is doomed as soon as Dr Ranil pushes JVP Prince Anura to bring in the Impeachment.
    Another 32 and the UNP Speaker will personally deliver the Quit Notoce to the President’s House.

    And the same 32 will ensure Dr Ranil’s New Constitution will be Home and Hosed in the very First Parliamentary Sitting may be even before Xmas..
    And the HC will be all the way with Dr Ranil and his new UNP Government .

    Nalin Banda says he has already spoken to several SLFP members and Nalin is soooo happy about the outcome..

    I thought Sira did all this to help our long suffering rural Sinhala Buddhist Inhabitant population..

      Wonderful news for democracy, rescued at the last minute from a disaster. One party was trying to grab power by hook or by crook to protect a family of looters (including Tsunami funds) and the other protecting mates who robbed the Central Bank. It is time for JVP to clean up this mess.

      “I thought Sira did all this to help our long suffering rural Sinhala
      Buddhist population” ???? Fiddlesticks!!!! Despite the regular innocent talk of “loving Sri Lanka and its people, devoted to Buddhism” etc the major objective is to make brother Dudley one of the biggest capitalists in the country. After all, the large portion of the loot stolen in the past 3-4 decades is with him (Hotels, modern Rice mills, land and so on) If Sri Lanka had an efficient and reliable Income Tax system, the Sirisena gang will be in jail for a long time. Pity, Gamarala had such dreams of bringing class and elitism to both country pumpkins Chaturika and Daham. All going to waste. As the teen girls say Pow aney.

    Well, if the people’s voice are stifled for the general elections they demand, we hope that Ranil will take a new set of oaths :

    1. No selling of sacred Lankan land to Indian military, or any other Indian enterprise (some China is fine as they do not reside on our doorstep) .

    2. No land bridge merger to India.

    3. No division of sacred Island into federal states

    4. Ratio of Powers of President to PM = 75:25

    5. Balance of payments plan :
    i) continuation of the China alliance
    ii) measures of austerity (Ranil did well with the taxation).

    Ps. Some India is fine.

      The above are the least of interest to Ranil. He is interested in only one thing at the moment and that is to get the new constitution through with which he will be able to postpone the general elections indefinitely as he did with the PC polls and remain in power for ever or at least until 2025.
      With the Premiership in hand he entertains high hopes of winning the next presidential elections.

        NAK,
        Well,……whilst Ranil gets his way as the spoilt child, Rajapaksa rises high and is given the position of opposition leader with UPFA as opposition. Ranil won’t get his way quite so much. Jayaweva!

    They say “that something good comes out from anything bad”, this is exactly what our blessed country could look back and reminisce, with relish and satisfaction, if there is nothing else for us to be happy about.
    The events that took place since that fateful night on Friday October 28, 2018 would go down in history as to how a mature Democracy like Sri Lanka’s survived a supposedly constitutional coup initiated by the head of that very government in power.

    All Sri Lankans behaved extremely well with tact, decorum, and decency except for Keheliya and his cohorts who stormed the SLBC and Lake House. Now we Sri Lankans know where Ramith got his ungentlemanly ways, though he attended a school of repute. His genetics were too strong which even the school could not put it right. It is sad but it is just as they say “like father like son”.

    The UNP and its supporters should be applauded -(except for the culprits who behaved indecently opposite the LH yesterday) that they kept their cool in very trying conditions and let the Judiciary decide on the matter.

    Another thing is, I wonder where our President gets his legal advice, it would be an ideal time for him to kick those guys out. He has fallen flat on his face and with the Supreme Court unanimously and unequivocally rapping the President on his wrists adducing that he had violated the Fundamental rights of the 122 petitioners alone would be ample enough to impeach the President or for him to resign.

    We now hope that RW would let the court cases all those on bail be expedited and the Judiciary are provided all the evidence required to find them guilty and throw them in jail and then toss the keys into the Indian Ocean.

    Those MPs who behaved like rowdies in parliament, attempted to assault the Speaker, assaulted policemen, sprayed chillie water, damaged fittings and sat on the speaker’s chair, should be identified and indicted in a court of law.
    They should be preferably debarred from contesting elective office for a suitable period. Else, this can occur again.

    At last wiser and sensible counsel prevailed following the proper intervention of the judiciary. Now Rajapakse family that looted the state coffers and killed its opponents stepped down involuntarily for the good of the people and country.

    We hope justice will be done to the victims of Rajapakse and his younger brother.

    (‘Brother Square-Toes’—Rewards and Fairies)
    If you can keep your head when all about you
    Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
    If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
    But make allowance for their doubting too;
    If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
    Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
    Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
    And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:
    If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
    If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
    If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
    And treat those two impostors just the same;
    If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
    Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
    Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
    And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:
    If you can make one heap of all your winnings
    And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
    And lose, and start again at your beginnings
    And never breathe a word about your loss;
    If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
    To serve your turn long after they are gone,
    And so hold on when there is nothing in you
    Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

    A new beginning for RW. I hope he too has learnt a lesson, and will be a better PM, not mess up again, and will lead this country the right way, and what is best. No more party above country. This country is depending on him, and now that he has been given another chance, he should do things differently and better. Good luck to all.

    Ranil kept his cool all along and was so confident that he didn’t even have iota of doubt about the way the SC verdict would be and in the meantime did’t leave his official residence. Soon after the presidential election victory in 2015, he used the chance to his maximum to amend the constitution to clip some of the powers of the executive president and MR and Co could not oppose to the move fearing a repercussion by way of their bad deeds of their past being taken to courts and they voted for the amendment en bloc and the result has been shown in the SC. The president should take action against his advisers for having misled him to eat his humble pie. Now,onus is on RW to prove himself as a leader who keeps his promises and get ready for the General election allowing the necessary changes within the party.

    Ranil must keep the man who did not know who paid for his bed and how 100 million came to his safe away from the Cabinet of Ministers if his balance period is going to successful.
    He must give high PRIORITY TO THE PRECFAC recommendations and also conclude the cases now awaiting trial relating to the GREAT LASANTHA , Thajudeen and Keith Noyah, r Ekneligoda ,the office boy who played out the employer ,the guttersnipe with fake passports and of course the fake BLACK COATED man who laundered money, MIG deal and last not the least using public finance to BUILD A MEMORIAL FOR PARENTS

    I expect another Royal College cabinet but not as large as the last, jobs for the loyalists whether they are corrupt or not, Tamil political prisoners still in jail, Trincomalee student killers still free……..in other words, politics as usual from Yahapalanaya v2.0

    Sri Lanka has experienced for one month, how pleasant Sri Lanka could be without the kalakanni Ranil’s corrupt, central bank robbing incompetent non-government. An anti-Sinhala Buddhist judiciary may have brought the corrupt fool back to power with Ravi nayakam and other thieves. But the people will put the nails on his political coffin at the next election. Banga Wewa.

    Sri Lankan politics will never change. The same Royal College scoundrels that prop up this nincompoop will be there and the poor and helpless people will continue to follow the consequences as a result. This country will never change until the entire political establishment is wiped out and we bring in some kind of benevolent dictator who is clean and untarnished. The entire lot of Sira, butterfly Sara and Mara needs to be vanquished from politics. Unless we find young blood who are honest and moral to replace these rogues, this country will continue to be in the dumpster.

    Now that P{olitical crisis is almost over, thanks to SC It is a lesson for the country. It has served from a heart attack. Part of the economy is paralyzed An angiogram is needed on the constitution and do necessary by paas for the country to survive if needed. Remove the President that was causing the block. Make sure that constitution should provide opposition leader’s position to a minority party.

    As Ranil’s removal from PM’s post was illegitimate as was the appointment of MR for the same post, why should Ranil take oaths again?
    .
    If some rogue comes to your house, forces you out, lives with your wife for a month and then police comes arrests rogue, does it mean you have to marry her again?

    Mr Ranil Wickremesighe PM,

    There are so many lessons for you and your party, so loud and clear, from this sorry saga too.

    You and your government were so unpopular until 26 October. Now you have got a windfall of political capital because people hate abuse of power, corruption and injustice. You will have wasted all that goodwill and proven yourself to be a fool if you don’t learn from your mistakes and make use of this opportunity to make a clean start.

    For God’s sake don’t let the dirty crooks like Ravi Karunanayake, Rajitha Senarathne and Arjuna Mahendran anywhere near your Government. Also, don’t think any idiot,just because they were with you at school, is good enough for Sri Lankan Air or any other Board.

    Unlike Sirisena or Rajapakses, you have the background and capacity to understand what good governance means and how good democracies around the world work. There are plenty of good, decent professionals in and around the world who can provide advice and help you if you need.

    What we need in Sri Lanka is a new beginning with a clean, lean, efficient government, who can lead by example, and ensuring the independence of the judiciary and the media. The rest will take care of itself.

      See if you pundits can answer this:

      Are these unconstitutional?

      1. Intereference in the interal affairs of Sri Lanka

      2. Teaching Ranil how to overthrow governments.

      If so whom do we take to court?

    I will not stay even 5 Minutes if Ranil is appointed give a telephone cal to ranil

    No progress wastage for one month by appointing temporary fake ministers, Some people change things when they think they’re a star or something Political wind that brings new political administrations into temporary power should know Constitution was not written in the sands to be washed away by each wave When negative thinking changes, everything changes. People say they hate someone, then they go and hangout with them.

    If you fail you will regret and you will undergo the same fate as MR
