UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe will take oaths as the Prime Minister on Sunday at 10 AM, the UNP confirmed.
President Maithripala Sirisena had a telephone conversation with Wickremesinghe, a short while ago, on the swearing-in event.
The ministers of the new Cabinet will take oaths on Monday, UNP sources added.
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa will make a special statement tomorrow explaining reasons for his decision to step down from the fake ‘premiership.’

If not for the big mouth of Ranjan Ramanayake Ranil would not become PM for 5th time. Hope Ranil will reciprocate.

I as one living on the west, have always believe the truth which is the appointment of MR as a PM was unconstitutional. Prorogation of parliament was unconstitutional. And disolution of parliament was unconstitutional.
So were many that knew the facts and figures. No necessarily be needed to be a Lawyer or any expert, but we just read the paragraghs as contained in the constitution.
So were the olvel school children since their multiple choice questions were there to make them clear that parliament can only be dissolved after 4.5 years if there would not be 2/3 mandate to go for prior to that.

/
S Atygalle / December 15, 2018
If the very appointment of MR as PM was illegal and criminal to begin with, then his resignation is redundant and thus misrepresents his illicit appointment as official. He was not a PM but a mime minister. He could not resign from a position that was never his to occupy and therefore null and void.

I am sure and I have no doubt that Ranil Ravi combination will save UNP and Sri Lanka. Good luck to both. Mangala will continue to flourish as world’s best Foreign Minister. Don’t give housing to Sajith. He is outdated.
/

Manimel,
Ranil & Ravi combination will definitely save the UNP but not yourself and the country.
Make sure to buy a wheelbarrow and spare underwear because you will need the barrow to carry all your savings in the future to buy a loaf of stale bread , and underwear because the Poofter RW will strip you and the citizens right down to your underwear and even beyond that.
You can’t be seen walking around without underwear , can you !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Ranil
—Please don’t appoint Ravi K to Finance Minister post
—Please get back Dr Dayan Jayathilake from Russia. He may plan on how to screw up Sri Lanka by using the Russian Hackers. Did he send two of them during the last six weeks?

—Please EXPEDITE the criminal cases against the Rajapaksa clan & any other wrong doers

—Please educate both Sinhala and Tamil Fundamentalists on how to live together in peace & Harmony.
Let us celebrate the New Year 2019 as the TURNING point for SL

JVP says there was a conspiracy where President, Mahinda, Basil (US citizen) (Gotabaya ( US Citizen )
SB (Rangeda) were involved to oust a legally elected government contravening the constitution .It is also time that US Government is informed that two of their citizens were also involved , hence to take appropriate action on them with prevailing law in their country on their citizens

At last the country has been pulled out of the mess Sirisena created, by the unbiased verdict given by the learned judges thank God for that.
But it is time that the UNP put their house in order and do a lot of changes the people want. It’s time to do
Away with archaic rule and get young and strong and determined people to do the people friendly jobs.
Without fear , they must get cracking on removing Rajapaksa Sirisena appointments in all departments.
For this it is the young blood of the UNP who can get things done. Ranil must not show any compassion to the Sirisena Rajapaksa cabal. The UNP pers must get their party to lead and be the strong force for a safe
and peaceful Sri Lanka for all her citizens, Sinhala, Tamil ,Muslims, Christians, Malays .

Grabbing Defeat from the Clutches of Victory: Now that we have come so far, RW is giving up the fight foolishly when we are so close to victory, by retaking oaths. This is going to legitimize the first crime against the people, namely, the sacking of the democratically elected PM, which now has been proved beyond doubt to be in contravention of the Constitution. That could also create a Precedent. Constitutions are partly driven by Precedents. Hence, we have to exercise maximum caution and do only the right thing at this juncture.
.
The next action should come Pissu Sira, who should gracefully withdraw the gazette notification and any other documents relating to his illegitimate decision to remove the PM and issue another gazette proclaiming the previous one null and void. That will negate the need for retaking the Oath.
.
Or else it would be a Pyrrhic victory.

The only person and his action responsible to all the evil that ever happened and the bloodshed to date is none other than Ex-late -President JR & his Executive Presidency ,not MR ,not My3, and today the truth be it be bitter, is the fault of RW for not ending it ,it would have been wiser to have created a constitution with a joint Premiership with My3 in the national government with his supporters and got rid of The Executive, had he today we would have had a well balance government ,without all the losses and suffering the people had to face.
Why not think about it ?

When Mithree resigns before one hour after Ranil taking oaths Ranil will have to take oaths as the president because when a president resigns PM Will be the president, if you believe the words of Mithree.

The proposed appointment as Primer is that of Ranil Wicks are well known that organized by which that political – legal that coup operated under that Supreme Court ruling in 14 Octemeber 2018.
SC was totally rejected Right to Vote for FRESH Parlimmantey Election due the western and Indian influence by CIA and RAW of intelligence services by high -hand interventions..
Sri Lankan of that Judges of Supreme court failure to delivered upheld legal right to vote for Parliament election is rejected by 7 number of judges. Result of that then and there UNP ,JVP, TNA and MC that move of motion request NOT go for polls . Because those political parties have postpone Provincial Elections due so many months back ? UNP of RW has lost majority support by last local council elections in 2018 February 18!
Now that ex-Primer of UNP RW wanted to back to power by back door ,without general elections .
Indeed that RW is main man of that culprit of Central Bank robbery of Bonds scandal back by USA UK EU and Indian super-powers .
Cost of Central Bank robbery cost billions of US dollars by UNP leadership of RW and CBK.
We are at impending catastrophe by mismanaging of Economy by UNP leadership.
Nation economy in point of collapse and RUPPE devalued 35% ,GDP gone to 2.3 % from 7.6% from 2014 , Nation debt has increased to 2015 to US $ 50 billions to 2018 December US $ 71 Billion dollars. Nation Tax has increased from One Trillions Rupees to Two Trillion rupees from 2015 to 2018.Poor people have pay huge amount of taxes to UNP govt. back by TNA JVP and MC???
How can UNP guy become Primer again ? On what grounds?

[edited out]
I am yet to see a Politician who is self critic ,humbles himself and accepts his faults as a human and offers to right himself and work in future without self interest to serve the entire people without favour or prejudice .
No they will never, they are full of themselves ,they will rather find a someone to Blame it on and make sure people will believe it too.
So rightfully said by Eran (I do not care what people want to brand him as , or name calling ) at least he is the only politician who in some small way was willing to be self critic as a politician and said what needed to be said
Yes only The people can change the politicians, and the only way to do so is not going for election to vote on a dead duck of a constitution or ask for a referendum to go to polls .
We need the government , The JVP or anyone to present a constitution that will have no more executive of JR ,not even a scale down version of it, ,but a fully peoples Parliament with a Senate. .
If This does not happen ,let the people know we been taken for a ride again and this time permenantly .
In weeks we need to see the Parliament restored to full peoples constitution, if it does not happen ,it will never and the selected segment ,their families and friends ,no matter which camp they are in, will live happily ever after ,while we and our families rot.

Ranil’s new appointment will also be unconstitutional if this new appointment is a continuation of his old PM appointment and tenure. We need to look at this appointment before the time period when the 19th amendment was not passed! Ranil’s appointment on January 09th 2015 was unconstitutional to begin with on January 9th, 2015 because the newly elected president Sirisena did not have the constitutional powers to appoint a new PM such as Ranil when there was already a legally sitting PM who was D. M. Jayaratne. The latter, Jayaratne was appointed in 2010 and served until 2015 by a previously sitting parliament majority that came before the UNF (Yahapalanaya or Good Governance) had a chance to win the general election on 18 August 2015 for the 15th parliament. Therefore, president Sirisena at the time in January 09th 2015, could not and did not have the executive powers to appoint a new PM (Ranil) over a sitting PM (Jayarate) because a newly appointed president Sirisena did not have a parliamentary majority with the UNF-Yahapalanaya to approve Ranil’s appointment. The majority of parliament as of January 09th 2015, and up until that general election in August was with the UPFA majority of the Mahinda Rajapaksha faction. The 19th amendment was implemented in April 08th 2015 with the UPFA majority of the Mahinda Rajapaksha faction voting in favour of the 19th amendment, mainly to curtail the presidential powers. This amendment still did not give powers to the President to oust a PM (and that of Jayaratne) and this issue was being debated and worked in parliament in the 20th amendment. Therefore, the argument I raise here is impartial to any of these politicians. I still see that Ranil’s new appointment, if contingent upon the old PM appointment,is also unconstitutional and can be contested.
