The promised cabinet reshuffle with respect to portfolios held by SLFP MPs is to be finalized once President Maithripala Sirisena returns from Japan where he is currently on an official visit.
According to SLFP sources, there are at least two ministers who are expecting a change in their portfolios while others are eagerly awaiting upgrades or entry into the Cabinet.
Although there was a lot of talk about drastic changes, the UNP version of the cabinet reshuffle proved to be minimalist and confusing, with the Prime Minister taking over ‘Law and Order’ only to have the subject passed on to Ranjith Madduma Bandara.

Our MPs, (though 84 of them lack even O Levels) are so versatile, that they can manage/run portfolios in different disciplines, & change from one to another with perfect ease.
Thus, cabinet reshuffles are very frequent, unlike in other countries.
Just a few of them, “try out” particular portfolios to see whether they can “fit in”, and are given another, if they don’t.

Sir,
Corrupt SLFP & UNP are a curse to this country. Jacked-up by cancerous, racially segregated TNA, SLMC, CWC, ACMC & JHU etc. Consign these deceptive clowns to the dustbin of history. Forget the RESHUFFLE JOKE!
Cheers!
PS:
SIRISENA, please reshuffle useless portfolios among following stinking members of your priceless SLFP:
Siripala, SB, Susil PEE Jayanath & Anura PEE Yapa
WE SHALL WITNESS PROGRESS IN THIS HELL-HOLE.

yes, those 84 should be reshuffled into the school system again and asked to pass the o level just like any other person before they get a responsible job.A entrance requirement for any MP should be o levels unless they have excelled in sports like arjuna. It is difficult to concentrate on sports and study too.I don’t know whether arjuna has passed but he deserves to be a MP. Why special treatment only for MPs.They should also retire like all public servants when their retirement age is up.Aren’t they public servants just like anyone else.either ask them to retire or increase all the public servants retirement age. They should also get only the perks that other public servants get. It’s time to get strict with quality and quantity of MP’s.
Today this country is still chugging on due to the quality of the private sector, but how long can it go on carrying on its back the bloated public sector and inefficient governments.Sooner or later it is going to crack under the strain unless reforms are made to the public sector and government.quantity of parliamentarians also should be reduced both at central government level as well as provincial and local.

Please list all the MPs who don’t have O/L s for people’s benefit & to prove your knowledge about it.
In case they don’t have O/L s see whether they have had other forms education bypassing O/L s.

President has no control over his SLFP, no control over the Buddhist Monks who are running riot, no control over police, no control over judiciary, no control over his own party ministers and no control over the country. Only control he has is to talk to Mahinda in the night in private and not appoint Sarath Fonseka to safeguard rogues and murderers.

No control over judiciary, so that’s good.
There must be no control over democracy as well.
Let monks of any religion run riot & have no control over police, so they’ll do their duty.
Buddhist, try to understand that not having control over every thing is what’s required today.

MS is not worthy to be considered an Executive. Maybe he considers himself as school principal and treats the MP’s as such. To the general public he looks as mahadenamutha only just a villager imitating Andare. Sad state of affairs.

When JR J changed over to this Executive President system no one expected the mess we are presently in. We have a cabinet without responsibilities.
There is no alternative but make it work. A one man cabinet is much worse.

Perhaps another cosmetic reshuffle. To please whom? Let us assume no reshuffle was done and if the state were to carry on regardless of LG elections. Then it is reasonable to assume that mass protests could be engineered on grounds that state is carrying on with out a public confidence. To me this is an eye wash to avoid that type of demonstration. You create a scene to show that there is a problem with MY3 and RW. An apparent struggle for the premier’s post. Part by part reshuffle, etc. All this is at the expense of public money. It looks as if we, the people can be fooled all the time. None of the politicians think and act as if they are servants of the people.

If MY3 is serious about one term as he promised, he could have done better without worrying about losing votes to stand unique among the others to remember

When those who were rejected by the voters have been brought into the Parliament and the Cabinet by the President ,what else can we expect from him. From the day the President was elected he has cheated all those who voted for him. He even went to the extent of asking Ranil to resign who got more votes than him. He listened to Mahinda Rajapakse and did not have the guts to appoint Sarath Fonseka as Minister of Law and Order. Now he has invited Gnanasara Thero the architect of the racial troubles to a meeting in Japan.

What the bloody hell you’re talking man?
@ 1st you rightly said that those who were rejected by the people have been made MPs & even ministers & further you cry for not appointing SF as a minister.
You’re nuts?

Even though PResident says he is the Executive, the truth is different. PResident behaves like a MP elelcted. Ranil is the executive PM. He can not be fired by the PResident eventhough Ranil was appointed by the President. PResident cannot even remove a Minister. there are two ministers who did nothing. One Minister with a very long record as a MP is a Multi-billionaire. “How did he earn that much as a MP. He has many stories about having sexy encounters with many young women. the most recent one is Minister has bought a Rs 15 Million worth car to a young woman in a modelling carrer.

I heard even the NAtional List MPs in the SLFP are not listening to the President. So, the president is in a real difficult situation. These MPs and ministers were not elelcted by people. PResident appointed in order to save from the breakaway faction who has so many accusations.

What was he doing in Japan & India while the country was burning? In this day & age doesn’t he or his advisers know there is internet conference facilities available? As pointed out by another reader may be his advisers also not have passed the O/L. But my 7 year old chats well with relatives on a thing called Skype. I’m sure where in a Land where Bently cars roam free the president has the state of the art computer hardware and software in his toilet.
I’m not sure about Gnasara joining him in his trip to Japan. If it’s true why was he there? . May be to advise him whom to select in the reshuffle!

Sirisena reshuffles a pack full of Jokers! Yahapalana ha little or no talent, is seething with notorious no brainers, corrupt to the core. Why was Kiriella moved away from the Kandy Highwzy project.? Corruption has engulfed all the Corporations as well. The Chairman of the Tea Board has refused to declare his Assets. What is he hiding?

[edited out] None of the MPs even in Sirisena’sown party take him seriously, and are openly defiant to him.Heha lost all credibility and respect from his followers who have discovered the real nature of the man. Like any rustic gamarala he goes for the glitter, not the substance. No wonder at the time of a national crisis he has chosen to go on an overseas jaunt. It is crass behaviour not befitting any local leader, leave aside a national leader. He will be washed away soon by a gigantic wave that is building upcountrywide and will leave his adoring Tamil and Muslim supporters gasping for breath.A few writers in the mainstream media like Nanda Pethiyagoda who writes as Nan who adored Sirisena to the point of calling him a “handsome man” will now be ducking for cover!

NON DENOMINATIONAL LEFTIST MUSLIMS FOR PROGRESSIVE VALUES / March 15, 2018
Only solution is for Muslims and Tamils to have autonomous regions with own police to protect their People .
There is no way Muslim can ever get over this ,no way , the damage is to-much , in-future the danger is not burning homes and businesses .
There were open calls to rape Muslim women and girls on Social media ,so how do The Muslims plan to protect their girls and women ? when The government can not even protect their own Sinhalese girls and women being raped and some murdered? the maximum punishment is a few months or years max in jail and comes The Birthday of The Leaders and they are pardon
Muslims you have been living in denial of the reality ,will you at-least now wake up for the sake of your own family ?
