Return Of Saffron Violence?

By Hilmy Ahamed

Hilmy Ahamed

“Ven. Ampitiye Sumanaratne Thero of Mangalaramaya temple in Ampara walks in to the residence of the Chief Minister of the Eastern Province, Nazeer Ahamed and threatens him over the despicable incident in Sampur school function”

Later, The venerable Thero leads a protest in Ampara shouting “Para Thambiya, Para Thambiya”.

The Editor of “SUNDAY (IRIDA) DIVAINA” in his editorial on 29th May 2016 calls for the slaying of Nazeer Ahamed (Chief Minister) by the father of the child who was accidentally hit and offer the decapitated head to Governor of the Eastern Province – Austin Fernando.

What a wonderful world!!

What is wrong with Sri Lanka? Where are we heading as a nation? Has the saffron brigade been revived by ……? President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, the architects of Yahapalanaya need to wake up from their deep slumber. Many risked their lives for regime change and do not want the same wine in a different glass. Do we need more violence than what we have seen during the 30 years of ethnic strife? The international community and Sri Lanka’s vibrant civil society that has been supporting the reconciliation process with the Northern Tamil population is silent on the attack on the Muslim community. Aluthgama/Beruwela is a forgotten story.

The Yahapalanaya revolution in January 2015 that brought the opposition’s common candidate Maithripala Sirisena to power as President was celebrated as the end of the racist campaign of the Rajapaksa regime which nurtured extremist Buddhist monks to unleash violence with impunity against the Muslims and evangelical Christians. A large number of moderate Sinhala Buddhists and almost the entire minority communities voted against the racist regime of Mahinda Rajapaksa. President Mahinda Rajapaksa had the illusion that he could win elections by pampering to Buddhist extremism and alienated the minorities. He without a doubt was considered the savior of the nation by almost all Sri Lankans (including the Muslims) and was reelected for his second term with an unprecedented majority against another hero of the war against terror, Sarath Fonseka. He learnt his bitter lesson and miserably failed in his third attempt in January 9th 2015, due to his racist and dictatorial attitude towards the nation.

The Bodu Bala Sena (BBS), which was the creation of the Rajapaksa hegemony, went underground immediately after the elections because they lost the immunity that was offered by the Rajapaksa regime. The multiple court cases against Ven. Gnanasara Thero and BBS have kept them busy, attending to their legal battles. Their attempt to regroup has failed miserably, especially after their contempt of court charges filed by the bold Homagama magistrate.

This has given rise to a new lot of saffron robed extremist monks, who are attempting to come in to the limelight through a racist agenda. The desperate common opposition led by the Mahinda faction in parliament has started playing the racist card once more, provoking Buddhist extremism. They are using multiple fronts to attack minorities, especially the Tamils and Muslims after their dismal performance at the MAY DAY rally in Kirulapone, in the hope that they can harness the vote bank of the Buddhists.

These evil forces have now also been unleashed to create hate and target the Muslims and evangelical Christians with the hope that the international community and, especially the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) would notice it and impose sanctions on Sri Lanka that would lead to the collapse of our economy. A simple ban on the import of Sri Lankan labour to the Middle East would drive the majority of our population to the streets – literally begging for their next meal. The income from our ‘slave’ labour is estimated to be around 6-7 billion US Dollars per annum.

The Buddhist extremists are forgetting that a number of Muslim nations came to the support of the Rajapaksa regime in their fight against the Liberation Tigers Thamil Eelam (LTTE). Libya, Pakistan and Iran played a major role in providing military hardware. It was even suspected that Pakistani pilots were flying sorties to destroy the LTTE arsenal. Many other Arab Muslim nations provided financial support. The only friends Sri Lanka had at the UNHCR in Geneva at the time were Muslim nations. Today, the Sinhala Buddhist extremists have forgotten the Muslim contribution to the government’s war efforts and branded them as aliens to the nation. Many Muslim intelligence officers sacrificed their lives throughout the war. Only the security forces know their contributions, because most of them were intelligence operatives who could not be exposed to the public.

A few incidents involving Muslim citizens of Sri Lanka are being highlighted as crimes committed by the entire Muslim community. The irresponsible behavior of the Chief Minister of the Eastern Province, Nazeer Ahamed, which was totally condemned by the Muslim community, is being presented as a Muslim person insulting the Sinhala forces of the Sinhala nation, implying that the Muslim citizens do not belong to Sri Lanka. A forgotten fact is the behavior of the army goon squad of Mahinda Rajapaksa on Sarath Fonseka and violence against public servants and forces by Mervyn Silva, Wimal Weerawansa and Nishantha Muthuhettigamage (amongst many others). Their insults of the police and armed forces have never been branded as Sinhala Buddhist excesses. Only Chief Minister Nazeer Ahamed’s action is being branded as an act of treachery by a Muslim.

There has been numerous incidents of conflict and violence at parents teachers meeting in hundreds of schools, but a simple incident at Madawala Muslim Maha Vidyalaya, where a Sinhala teacher who had sided with the Muslim principal was “screamed at” by a Muslim person. This had nothing to do with religion or race but today some news and social media platforms have twisted it as a racial attack on a Buddhist.

Muslim miscreants, who were drunk after a Perahara in Mahiyangana had damaged a Buddhist flag in their drunken stupor. This incident too is twisted as a racially motivated attack on Buddhism. It was the Muslims who had caught these youth and handed them over to the police. They have been remanded for two weeks and yet extremist Buddhists is branding it as a crime against Buddhism by the entire Muslim community.

Some Buddhist monks, who are going around intimidating Muslims, have formed themselves in to vigilante groups. One such group is demanding the cessation of the renovation of a mosque down Bhatiya Mawatha, Dehiwela. The building plans and the renovation has been approved by the local authority, the Dehiwela Mount Lavinia municipal council. Some local politicians along with these monks have marched in to the mosque under police protection and intimated the trustees of the mosque to stop the construction. The Police who are supposed to protect and maintain law and order are providing protection to this vigilante group. The complaint of trespassing in to private property has not been entertained.

Law and order in the country has been deteriorating since the decade long rule of Mahinda Rajapaksa. Majority of the Sri Lankans of all races expected the war winning President, Mahinda Rajapaksa to pave the way for a reconciled Sri Lanka in 2009. Regretfully, he pampered Buddhist extremism due to his greediness for continued political office. Racism has now been rooted out amongst a fair number of Sinhala Buddhists, who fear dominance of the minority community. The Muslims are even accused of strategically increasing their population to make Sri Lanka a Muslim state. The population ratio of Muslims has remained the same since 1891. There is no doubt that the majority of the Buddhists are peace-loving citizens, but they have no voice in the presence of these extremists. The behavior of some of these thugs is a disgrace to the noble teachings of Lord Buddha.

There is a need for the government to take the bull by the horns. No vigilante group should be allowed to intimidate anyone, law and order needs to be maintained. Their failure will force the country to be a divided nation that would have serious repercussions on the envisaged development and progress that all Sri Lankans hope for.

Religion should be a private affair and remain so. An elected government should not favour any religion to another. We, the people of Sri Lanka need to come forward as one Sri Lankan nation, devoid of differences in religion, race, cast or creed. This responsibility is not with the government alone but with every individual, religious and political leader. This is easily attainable if every citizen commits to this noble goal.

The new constitution making process needs to ensure that all communities in Sri Lanka have the same rights and religious freedom to practice the religion of their choice.

Yes, this particular monks truly go beyond their capacities

Why should he take the law to his hand ? WHo is behind this ?

1)I will give you a hint guys – MR regardless of any ethics and moral values, always entered to temples and continued what he has to say, even if he is not the president of the country. These men in red robes, though so violent no second to most known example of the day had been , Ghanasara – are born violent ones. They can animate stupid folks easily. Remember the days that a man in robes commited self immolation against cattle slaughter ?

      2) And dont forget, the days, the nation was tremoured by fears at the time BBS lead men were allowed to create new forms of violent waves – who was behind them ?

It is tragic to see that the Buddhist religion is dragged down to such a low level by non-other than the members of the Buddhist clergy. These Buddhist monks (hora ganayas or cheevaradharis) are exploiting the respect that the Buddhist society has for the yellow robed Sangha (one of the triple gems mentioned by Buddha) and not only misleading the gullible Buddhists but also betraying Buddhism and insulting the Buddha. The government and other organizations should educate the Buddhist masses in Sri Lanka should differentiate between a genuine Buddhist Bikku and a Cheevaradhari (rogue monk).

Even during the 1950s, we have seen such Buddhist thugs and terrorists among the Buddhist clergy such as Buddhrakitha Thero and Somarama thero assassinating Prime Minister SWRD Bandaranayake. Today we have the extreme version of them in the Buddhist clergy known as Bodu Bala Sena (BBS), Sinhala Ravaya and many others including this Ampitiye Sumanaratne. President Maithree and Prime Minister Ranil should take extra care and precaution against these Buddhist Terrorists who will not hesitate even for a moment when it comes to assassinating our leaders.

What is the point in having a Buddhasasana ministry if it is only a silent observer to all the anti-Buddhist acts committed by the Buddhist monks? The new government under President Maithree should think of forming a Buddhist Disciplinary Commission/Committee under the Ministry of Buddhasasana and Religious Affairs to maintain the Buddhist Vinaya (disciplinary code) among the Buddhist clergy. All the rogue Monks (hora ganayas or cheevaradharis) who are hijacking the Buddhist religion with their anti-Buddhist activities and disrupting the peace in the country should be subjected to disciplinary action and should be disrobed. Buddhist disciplinary laws should be enacted specially for the Buddhist clergy who violate the Buddhist values and principles. This has become an urgent need in Sri Lanka if Yahapalanaya is to succeed.

          Dear Messenger,

no doubt every right thinking ones would agree with you.
But dont you think that our societies are not that advanced to grasp it yet. If you would please see it right – prior to 8th Jan 2015, people were not even given the chance to add their thoughts as it is the case as of now. I dont think we can achieve a lot within a short period like 2 years, considering the manner the people have not been familiar with any good systems at all. From Kindergarten to the top office, anything and everything of people s life have been captured by abuses and corrution in the country. Today, not many would see it to filter what is good governance. Majority folks rather are on a struggle to live their day rather than taking time to ponder out- so, the taks before the current regime or any good governance woudl not be easy. Besides, ours are a folt that woudl not have enough patience to see things turning to good. They focus their pitty issues such as the accident of JVP MP or other just diluting key ones. For me key ones should be law and order and justice and fairness. To answer this, we have some sort of justice prevailing and safeguarding system today than had been before under SELF MADE king Rajaakshe.

          Dear Buddhists…

A Buddhist monk is supposed to practise Ahimsa/non-violence, Karuna/compassion, Metta/affection, and Maithriya/loving-kindness towards fellow humans.

Are you people so dumb to call this thug Ampitiye Sumanarathana a Buddhist monk?

See this video how he is behaving in public…

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2kkZfb5uM0

Why cannot the Sinhala-Buddhists understand that this man is not a Buddhist monk but a hora ganaya or cheevaradhari, a thug wearing a saffron robe?

            The Messenger,
The video and many others at the same site, are horrifying and disgusting – I viewed them only now.
The monk utters gutter language at police and public servants – yet, there is no response by them.
This is evidence of the pathetic state of Law Enforcement.

If there is any racism in Sri Lanka , it is the Muslim racism against the Sinhalese and Tamils that is troubling. There are no other troubles. The Muslim screaming of Hussains, Ahmeds. Lathiefs and all the Mohameds is part of a campaign to exaggerate this non-existetn threat to create turmoil in our country.

We will fight to our last drop of blood, make no mistake, Ahmed.

      Quite interesting turn of events.

We have one-Idiotic Politician among the many, who happens to be Muslim, shows his idiocy. This was picked up by a Sinhala “Buddhist” Monk, who rightly visits the Minister at his home, lets’s him know that was not in order.

Was that the end of it? No why because he is a Sinhalese “Buddhist” Monk!

So, he goes for more, shows his idiocy, just like the Chief Minister. He shouts

“Para Thambiya, Para Thambiya”.” He forgets that he is

“Para Sinhalaya, Para Sinhalaya”.” in the Land of Native Veddah Too.

The question arises as to the IQ of theses paras. What is it? The average is 79. So, is there any surprise, based on the IQ standard deviation, there are many such characters in the population among the politicians and monks as well?.

    Hilmy Ahamed,

I have no adjectives to thank you.

You have highlighted a very sad situation ehere-in once again extremists are rearing their ugly heads from among all three major communities in this country. Opinion makers are back to their mischievously and the media is deviously giving them a platform . The impending constitution related debate, following the Lal Wijenayake Committee report, is bound to be very partisan and deliberately undermined by extremist elements. A sad situation indeed!

The failure of this government to follow a firm course and appear manifestly wishy washy, has encouraged such forces to re-emerge .

Buddhist monks and devious leaders can easily manipulate POOR FOLKS for their political and selfish gains.

Pinguththarayas of the BBS kind have always proved their ablities. That was instrumental by Gotabaya to keep his brother in the the position during the last few year alone.
Today, we dont have sorta BBS threat in the society today.

They the Rajaakshes thought BBS men could be LIFE long gonibilla maker to the nation, in terms of Electric chair, Western invasions, or any other radical thoughts, sometimes, not the average would get easily.

      upul jayasinge,

It is simple ins’t it? The Sri Lankan Constitution has given a foremost place for Buddhism; the government is duty bound to protect and foster the Buddha Senna. In Sri Lanka, Buddhism and the Sinhala Buddhists are two sides of the same coin.

Now the Scenario is that Eastern Province CM disrespected a navel officer, a Sinhala, and CM is a Muslim; with this in mind, the Monk concerned evidently deems that this is an attack on Buddhism or Sinhala Buddhism. This is the crux of the issue; he feels that he is duty bound to take direct action! Now can you see as to where the problem lies?

    Well said Hilmy Ahamed.

Gotabya, Namal, Yoshitha and Mahinda used the tri forces and the Police as their own private army. Kidnapping, extortion and killing done by broad day light and no question were asked. Trivial skirmishes with Yoshitha at the rugby ground cost the life of Thujudeen and perpetrators are scot-free.
BBS and the goon monk Gnanasara given defence ministry vehicle and five member team to unleash his terror with the blessing of Gotabya.

It’s quite unfortunate this particular incident (Nazeer vs Naval rating) blown up out of proportion and all the chauvinist elements including Mahinda, who is eagerly looking for any loopholes to poke his ugly nose, to fish in trouble waters!

If the good governance government let these racist opportunists to unleash their filthy tentacles, the grip will be this time not only Muslims and Christians but also Hindus and ultimately the Buddhists too!!!!!!

The is the ugly side of Sri Lanka !!!!! Where is yahapalanaya ?

I have always wondered if this kind of ugly behaviour came from the Christian , Hindu or Muslim communities or religious groups like the BBS how would have the gov and people reacted.

Will they arrest the people concerned?
Would they have been white vanned ?
Would they have been hammered to death?
Would they have been branded as terrorists ?

So why do these saffron robe terrorists be given special privileges when there would have been low tolerance of such behaviour if any other religious groups behaved like the BBS.

I am not a Buddhist but I value the principles enshrined in the teachings of the Buddha. None of these saffron types represent such teachings and they distort the Budda’s way and therefore should be arrested forthwith.

Well written Hilmy. The point is that Bodu Bala Sena organization along with Gnanasara have created a racist mindset, which others in their ranks (monks) have picked up the scourge and are now ready to exploit. It will only get worse as their boldness to take the law into their own hands is never met with force by the law enforcing authorities, which makes the minorities less hopeful of justice in this country. Their own security concerns can only trigger their own self defensive measures, which makes an unhealthy living hell, a recipe for disaster. I really do question, is this another Myanmar in the making?

Anyone turning on their fellow Sri Lankan, attacking minorities, and once again starting ethnic problems in our country, will regret the fact that those who suffer for communal strife will be the entire country. We should prevent causing turmoil, and preventing the country from progression. It is important that the nation be united, so that influences both from within and outside can never interfere in our affairs and we can achieve peace and harmony.

Oh! All ye fellow-followers of Islam.
During the bad old days, when your world was turned upside down by the antics of various anti-Muslim groups, you did not hesitate to point your finger at the then Government for their inaction at implementing hate-speech laws to prevent the rising Islamophobia.
Nearly 18 months later, are you not beginning to experience the same unsettling sensation, again ?
Why then are you not being equally quick in blaming the present Government for their inaction in this matter ?
Chikay !! Double standards, not good no ?
Or, is it cathartic to keep reminding yourselves of what happened then, when faced with the prospect of having to re-live the mental agony under the present political dispensation ?
    Ha. ha, ha !!

      Afzal,

What do we call you- crusader, beheaded, uncivilized imposing world image- caliphate??

.””what does such behaviors of monk depict about Buddhism and Sinhalese in general. “

They have had the backing of
Ian Richard Kyle Paisley, Baron Bannside, PC was a loyalist politician and Protestant `religious leader` from Northern Ireland.
      That covers the orange order.

The green order of islam has many almost all lebbes, mullas.
      That covers both crusaders.

sinhala buddhist, tamils, they are sociolinguist which both christian/islam crusaders traditionally destroy.

The monks have copied protest of beheading threats from the ever loving muslim world of today.(obviously the language you understand)

Dali Lama was clear but it is not a number for 8% Muslim minority to bloat about because of political clout by design.

Stay off their politics the same way you stay out of Tamil politics.
Or you are doomed even in future trade.

There was a time when the Buddhist philosophy and doctrines were the most revered throughout the world but sadly the BBS here and the Myanmar monks had put paid to that. I thought we’ve had seen the back of Gnanasera Thera and BBS but now this Mangalarama Thero seems to have taken up the cudgel. The gratuitous hatred shown by him should be alien to a Buddhist let alone a Buddhist monk. The Buddhist hierarchy should find a way to defrock these wayward monks before the entire religion is destroyed.

Hilmi according to your letter muslims in SL very peaceful, law abiding people, but the sinhalese and saffron brigade are the worst. First of all I do not agree with the Ampitiye Sumanarathana thero’s abusive language. But we must discuss why and what brought Sumanarathana thero to became such a monk. TNA politicians and their goons in Batticaloa and the muslims in the area hates Sumanarathana thero. Thero vehemently fought against the TNA and muslim fractions whom trying to destroy Buddhist heritage in Batticaloa and Ampara area. One finest example is Valachchena temple matter. In 2013 muslims in the area forced the monk reside in that temple to sell the temple land to them. Reluctantly the monk reside in the temple agreed to discuss the matter with muslims because the monk was helpless. After heard this story Ampitiye thero mediate and chase the cunning muslims away and protected the temple. And also Ampitiye thero is the only consolation to the Sinhalese in Pattipola,Kevilyamaduwa,Gemunupura,Magalagama,Pulukkuluwa villages. The Sinhalese in these areas even deprive of getting a ID card by Tamil officials in the Batticaloa.
The neverending unjustice meted against the Ampitiye thero by the tamil speaking government officials in the Batticaloa area, and the tamil politicians in the area, diverted Ampitiye Sumanarathana thero to a such a monk and so the responsibility lying on those politicians and officials. Once electricity to the Mangalaramaya disconnected. But in the Eastern province half of the population having electricit by illegally. While the electricty provided by CEB, most people used to getting electricity illegaly.
I want to ask from Hilmi that what’s happening in Kallaru, adjacent to Wilpattu jungle. Does Minister Bathurdeen exempt from the law of SL? He did a criminal act by destroying Kallaru forest reserve. Didn’t he settled down the Pakistan families whom expell from there?
Doesn’t in Yaan Oya and Pulmode,Kuchchaveli area muslims indulge in a land grab? Doesn’t Pulmode DS R.M.Anwar giving land permits to government lands for muslims even they were not living in that area earlier?. Doesn’t Minister Bathurdeen giving jobs[which not exist] to muslims in Pulmode Mineral Sands factory as a minister of industries? Doesn’t muslims in Pulmode trying to grab Arisimale temple land? Doesn’t muslims in Pothuvil indulge in land grab around Muhudu Maha Viharaya? Even coastal reservation area grab by muslims.

I can give you many more examples. Finally I want to ask the same question you ask from us? Where are we heading as a nation? Has the Saudi,Qatar funded Wahabism brigade or Burka Brigade been revived by ……….?

Rana, you don’t seem to know the history of the Northern province, especially the Mannar district. The Muslim population were evicted from the Northern province by the LTTE in 1990, giving them only two hours notice. The entire Muslims from north left their homes, leaving behind all their valuables, land and houses. During the 25 years of their displacement, they lived in refugee camps in Puttalam and other parts of the country. During that time, there was no such reservation as Kallaru in marachikutty. Look at any map or documentation to verify. During their displacement, shrub jungle grew in these areas. The government declared large extents of land as forest reserves in 2012 in order to prevent the TNA having control of large extents of land after the provincial council elections. That is how, the Kallaru reservation came into being. These lands were private property of Muslims and they went back to these lands in 2015 to restart their lives. 300,000 Tamils who were displaced given land and resettled. Further, over 12,000 families of servicemen and hambantota residents were brought as alien settlers and given land in Namalgama, Nandamitragama and 6 other sinhala settlements. There were no sinhalese in this area prior to this colonisation. So, you will see, the Muslims were returning to their lands while Alien Sinhalese were brought from deep south to settle in Muslim and Tamil lands. Further, the Navy has taken over 8000 acres to grow cashew and settle sinhalese. Hope you will understand the situation better.

You are only blaming the expulsion of Muslims by LTTE. What about the murder and ethnic cleansing of Tamils by Muslim home guards in collaboration with security forces in parts of Amparai district. Some Hindu temples have been demolished and Mosques have been built on the land. Muslims are refusing to vacate lands appropriated from Tamils even after obtaining a court order. In Valaichchenai Athaulla and his thugs committed murder of Tamils and damage to their properties. Kattankudy limits is expanded by force annexing neighbouring Tamil villages. There is an attempt to displace Tamils from Kalmunai town under the guise of town planning to convert the Tamil majority Kalmunai into a Muslim majority town. Badurdeen has been settling Muslims from outside the province in Mullaitivu using Qatari fund. There will be no objection to settling those displaced but attempting to alter the demographic pattern by settling those from other provinces will not be tolerated. Unfortunately you are silent on those issues. Please note that none of the land vacated by Muslims in Northern province has been appropriated by Tamils unlike in east.

If you are really a honest person without racial bias, please impress upon the government to pass a legislation to revert back the appropriated land to the original owners. Please also tell your Muslims that to vacate the lands of Tamils without producing forged documents to claim ownership. One Sinhalese doctor told me that Muslims have appropriated his lands in Valaichchenai and he is unable to get it back. If the plight of a Sinhalese is that you can imagine that of Tamils due to this Islamic thuggery. Look at how the Muslims are behaving in Muslim countries in treating the religious minorities. There is already complains by Tamils against Muslim ruled eastern province of racial discrimination.

Hilmi, Thnk you for answer me. First of all in your answer you only refer to Willpattu/Kallaru matter. OK maybe all the other facts I forward you accept as truth. There were no human inhabitants in Kallaru or Marichchkaddu forest reserve at any time. But the corrupt muslim politicians and the government officials[whom can buy] registered some names into the election registery in 2007 as people living in there later on[Not in 2007 or before 2007].That is the election registery Minister Bathurdeen showing everytime. But it is a fradulent document made after 2012 to prove that muslims lived in that area. In Oct 07 2012 Kallaru area declare as a forest conservation area.[Gazette notification 1779/15]. Before declare as a forest conservation area, Forest conservation dept. getting reports from DS officers in that area. And no private land in Kallaru forest at that time. If anybody had a valid deed they can forward it to Mannar GA and make a complaint. But that did not happened. So it is obvious that no people lived in that area before 2012. If anbody lived in that area they can forward their deeds at that time and take legal acion. But nobody did that.

And also the trees that cut down in the cleared aea witness that those trees not about 25 years old but maybe 50-100 years or more. And you told that Sinhalese brought down from other areas and settled down there. True but not to clear jungles and settle down. It happened in Kadjuwatta area. And the Kadjuwatta not belong to Wilpattu or Kallaru forest conservation area.
True that entire muslim population chased away from Jaffna. But the government allowed them to settle down in Puttlam. And now they have their own lands there and the population in Puttlam district change lot. And now the whole Puttlam town area under muslims and they were funded by Arabic nations to uy lands and build houses, schools etc.. But how about the Sinhalese chased away from Jaffna?

Thanks to Hilmy Ahmed for his excellent article.I believe that all Muslims including myself agree that the Chief Minister put himself in the wrong by an intemperate outburst. I believe also that the majority of the Buddhists and other non- Muslims will agree that that outburst had nothing to do with Buddhists or the Sinhalese or the armed forces.
I wonder what is behind the extremist reaction. – IH

Wait and see, what happened to Ashraf after he insulted Buddha, will happen to this Naseer, who insulted a member of security forces. Where were you hiding the last few days. If it was a Tamil chief minister behaving in that manner you would have castigated all the Tamils as not civilised and unfit to rule themselves.

Wait and see what happened to Soma Thero will happen to this electricity thieving brute of a monk. Remember, the Monk who insulted the Muslims and Ashraff died of an over dose of Viagra. This Ampitiye Sumanaratne of Mangalaramaya temple was caught redhanded, yet the law and justice was not imposed because of his bloody robe. This country has been driven to disaster because of these thieving criminals in the saffron robe.

I agree with you that anyone who has committed crime will face divine punishment even if the state does not do it. LTTE paid the penalty for commiting atrocities though there stand to regain the lost soveriegnty of Tamils from the racist terrorist Srilankan state was right and sacred. This rule applies to Muslims also who took part in looting Tamil properties and aided and abetted in Murder and ethnic cleansing of Tamils in eastern province. This is the beginning of the downfall of Muslims in eastern province who without any sense of justice claimed that they have become the majority in eastern province and usurped the right of Tamils to rule with help of the racist Mahinda regime. Look at what is happening to Arabs in middle east. Like dogs they are falling at the feet of Europeans seeking asylum and are being kicked about.

“I wonder what is behind the extremist reaction”

      Ha ha ha !

Wonder no more, my brothers and sisters.
A man is but the product of his thoughts. What he thinks, he becomes – Mahatma Gandhi
And what a man thinks is shaped by his own perceptions and experiences, no ?

So should we not as a community start off by trying to find out what these perceptions and experiences are that create such negative and hostile attitudes towards us ?

No ? Why not ? Are we scared of what we may find ?

As long as we continue to postpone finding the answers
As long as we continue to labor under the delusion that ‘we are right’ and ‘they are wrong’
The reasons that underlie extremist reaction will continue and proliferate.

      Ha ha ha !!

Show your exemplary qualities unless it’s shame for the Buddhists world over.

For the enemy forces (If there’re) your impatient behavior will be a gift to achieve their ends.

A model Buddhist monk isn’t a national asset, he’s an international asset.
