The STF today launched a special operation to defuse unexploded explosive devices outside the Salawa Army Camp in Kosgama, following yesterday’s fire, which killed one soldier, injured 8, while at least another 37 other who were admitted due to minor issues such as breathing problems were released from hospital.
Law and Order Minister Sagala Ratnayake ordered the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to commence an immediate investigation to ascertain the reason behind the fire at the camp’s armoury on Sunday evening, which resulted in subsequent explosions, while the Army will carry out it’s own separate investigation into the incident.
By Monday morning, the fire at the camp was brought under control, and residents living within a one kilometer radius were informed that it was safe to return back to their homes.

It should be a well planned disaster. Mahinda Rajapakse & Gotapaya Rajapakse group should be behind this attack. Recently there were attcks on electricity stations. Now they have moved further towards arms and ammunitions. They are capable of doing anything to come to power including large scxale massacre of Sinhalese. Half of the Sinhalese who voted against Mahinda are enemies of Rajapakse regime. It is time for the government to take serious about Mahinda group.

The availability of fire extinguishers which were inspected periodically, at the arms depot and whether they were used needs investigation. Also whether the storage areas were inspected daily needs investigation.
Other countries have “Fire Marshals” who are specialists in determining sources and causes of fires.

Why no one is questioning, why this army is buying and keeping these weapons – how many wars we had so far with other countries. Do we need all these weapons while poor people are staving. We have seen major fires in government institutions when an audit is to be made where important paperwork go up in smoke.

This incident is one of many planned perhaps in Washington, that will unfold in Sri Lanka with end result being US bases in Trincomalee and Hambantota (yes, all sundry will declare ‘good enough /deep for US war ships’), and brothels all over Colombo to service US personnel.
First was the Nazir Ahmed acting out /’incident’. Then this ‘fire’ to disarm Sri Lanka! Many more attacks of this nature to destroy Sri Lanka’s security will take place before US arrives on our shores. So lock up your daughters, sisters, mothers….even grandmothers!
