The controversial statements that Minister Sarath Fonseka is reported to have made regarding the decision to support Maithripala Sirisena’s presidential campaign has now spawned a new controversy with Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Rajitha Senaratne saying the Fonseka had apologized to the President while Fonseka insists he did nothing of the sort.

Senaratne briefing the media on cabinet decisions stated that Minister Fonseka had expressed his regrets over the statement he made saying that the decision taken to make Maithripala Sirisena the presidential candidate was a mistake
However, a missive from Fonseka’s ministry countered this claim, maintaining that Fonseka had only met the President and the Prime Minister to discuss about the recent political issues based on a proposal made by the Premier.
“At the meeting, the President has said the prevailing issues could be discussed between him and the Minister in order to arrive at solutions instead of making statements about such issues to the media or at public meetings. Apart from this, no discussion was made with regard to any apology,” the statement said.

Not just SF but the majority of the country regrets the decision of making Sillysena the common candidate. If Sobathia Thera was around he too would have lived with regret.

HE WOULD NOT CHANGE HIS NATURE EVEN IF HE HAD BEEN KEPT IN A CAGE by Rajapakshe.
I believe he will set records making tangible changes towards the upliftment of the people inthat areas.
If as he reveals, president himself block it not making him minister for law and order… WE NEED TO HEAR IT DIRECTLY FROM PRESIDENT.
And the name of SF should be made clean whether he was the hand to have killed Lasantha or not. We must not wrong thoughts to be established in the society, leaving Gotabaya to stay scot free further. Not just killing of Lasantha there are lot more other killings Gota and the rajapakshe are reported to be alleged.

This is wrong. But Rajitha Health ministry did lot more than the previous ministry that was controlled by Ballige putha Rajapakshes.
Alone the prices of medical drugs inclu. stents to descrease is a great work. You Rupawathi, you may have some other thoughts, but we should be honest to respect if anyone did a good work.

SF – you should stop wasting time playing `silly buggers’ with the President and Rajitha, and get down to work immediately – namely resolving the mounting problems affecting the wildlife sector. You are the last hope of the Conservation minded public at large. ( President should also have given Environment too to SF instead of hogging it for himself for unknown reasons.)
You should persuade Dr Pilapitiya back as the Wildlife Chief to work out a National plan for Wildlife Conservation and immediately get back Warden Ratnayaka back to Yala. I hope you will be able to stand up to miserable Sajith and be merciless to the Elephant Poachers and also bring the Rajapaksa backed Jeep Mafia under control. Also stop the illegal encroachments of Wilpattu by corrupt politicians like Bathiudeen and certain church elements as well .
The Public, especially the younger generation, are sick and tired of the nonstop stupidity being exhibited in every field by the ruling clowns. They will be watching your performance since sustainable Wildlife conservation is of the greatest concern for our country. Having helplessly watched the pathetic inefficiency of the previous ministers and the spineless leadership giving into corrupt political pressures at the expense of long term national benefits in this sector, the Public have reason to hope that the war winning General will be able to deliver the much needed positive changes.
