Shameless De Facto CJ Asks For “Exchange”

The sitting De Facto Chief Justice Mohan Pieris had asked for a dipomatic posting to the United Nations, London or Milan, in exchange for his resignation from Premier Ranil Wickremesinghe, Colombo Telegraph learns.

De facto Chief Justice Mohan Pieris

De facto Chief Justice Mohan Pieris

During a one on one meeting held with Wickremesinghe Mohan had agreed to resign from his post in exchange of a diplomatic posting to one of the three above destinations.

Surprisingly the Prime Minister has also agreed to the ‘ exchange’ in principle, but offered an alternative destination- Brazil.

On Thursday, Minister Rajitha Senaratne had unexpectedly put the plan in a ‘soup’ after responding to a question, by saying that Pieris had agreed to resign.

The statement by Senaratne was seen as a ” breach of confidence” by the Pieris faction, and had caused an immediate rethink of strategy.

Pieris was to resign on Monday, the 25th of January as per the initial plan. However, the next step following the declaration by Senaratne and the story that he had sought an ‘exchange’ is still unclear.

Pieris was found within the premises of Temple Trees on election night, in clear violation of the integrity of his position and that of himself.

Earlier, Colombo Telegraph learns that Pieris had sought the support of certain Presidents Counsel to send ” messages” across to the powers that be that he would not be intimidated into leaving his position, following Senaratnes claim.

Thereafter a person identifying himself as the ” spokesperson” for the Chief Justice refuted claims of Rajitha Senaratne. But the “spokesman” confined himself to saying that Pieris “had not resigned” when in actual fact Pieris was to resign.

The word play, and the immediate backtracking of the spokesperson following questions posed by journalists provided insight into the “thought process’ of Pieris.

Mohan Peiris – “part of the coup” is not suitable to be in government post in Sri Lanka. So he is about to be sacked but in a decent way. But he want to represent Sri Lanka in international arena. This is the joke of year 2015.

Yes, and Ranil is NOT the God Father of the Nation to pardon anyone. The people gave the vote to Maithripala Sirisena to punish the corrupt and this he must do to send a strong message to all politicians and public servants.
Ranil enjoyed perks whilst he was the opposition leader so he does not understand the hardships and mental agony the people of this country were subjected to by MR and his cronies. PEOPLE VOTED FOR JUSTICE AND ALL CORRUPT MUST BE PUNISHED.
If Ranil interferes to obstruct justice to liberate his old pals, we the citizens of democratic Sri Lanka will throw him out again come general elections.

I totally agree with you. “Arrest the De facto Chief Justice Mohan Pieris. There is Ample Evidence. What are you waiting For?”

I will add one more. Yes, the new care-taker government of MS and RW is talking all kinds of illegal things and corruptions of MR government. Show me how many of the corrupted guys are in jail now?

President MS and Primer RW, Ministers Rajith and Ranawaka, and MP Anura K. Dissanayae: Please Act rather than talk. Stop talking! We need action to show the world what “good governance” means.

What ever GOTA did for General SF was extremely unlawful, sad, and bad. SF was the great leader who won the real war. It is the fact.

But, my counter argument to this “Shameless De Facto CJ Asks For “Exchange”
is we need a person like GOTA to make concrete decisions in this care-taker government. President MS and Primer RW, if you have enough evident, then why Talk and F–king exchange behind the screen. Send him to Bagambara or Welikada.

Show the world that you have guts to do good governance.

This is the problem with hihgly expeditious RW.

Non-transparent backroom deal-making & horse-trading is his his trademark. It is not OK under so called “Yaha Palanaya”. Old habits die hard. Yet, they must die. It is now or never.

GOSL has no reason to be compliant towards requests made by criminal public servants. Such as De Facto CJ or any others.

Law must take its course. I cannot see how that would lead to Geneva, London, Milan or even far away Brasilia.

      Cheers!

Instead of providing shelters to the poor, we may need to build more prisons in the near future, reports and all prima facie evidences revealed to upper hands of the SLGO believe there is almost very few that escaped from being tied with highly abusive bands. So there, Prez and PM of today will have to face whether or not to appoint them each as their secretaries. This will be a sensitive issue though JVPrs or others would rigarosuly suggest NOT to take anyone coming with smeared with garbages. So as Ranajan and all other Law makers made it very clear in the parliament – they had been real robbers that have held all hard core linke with dealers.

In the first place, Ranil W should not have encouraged such a discussion. A Quid pro Quo sought is no different to blackmail.
How can a tainted and highly corrupt official such as this be kept as an Ambassador to this country. Fair Inquiries should be held against
his frauds and, when found guilty, he should be de-frocked to save the good name of the judiciary and the Supreme Court. Such deterrent action is necessary to prevent scheming men/women in the future bringing our higher judiciary to dishonour.

Mahinda rajapaksa worst lie ever told-
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dt4A8MdEoE

My mililon dollar question is – why the senior politicians as if they are impotent by all means – just let things went – just oberved all these as if they are scared still ( yaka gahala wage)?

I wonder thoese leftists- heavy weights (Wasidewa, Dew, Witharana) and their behaviours even today as if they are totally paralized or … like most lazy animals FOUND amazona forests – those animals take hours to move an inch… anyway, all these pundits to have been that ALA GILALA WAGE – deaf and blind … is more than questionaable to me specially looking at from my base-EU on.

Day before yesterday, just a placard of HITLER s picture was compared to that of anti muslim parades leaders in Berlin – what happened was, he resigned himself from that .. within hours. .. But our people stay and alert to back licking nature even if their partners have been attacked publicly.

I feel sorry about the people voted for President Maitripala Sirisena who pledged to uphold the Rule of Law.

I made against Mohan Peiris, the De facto CJ to the Corruption Commission, for his abuse of the office of the AG and causing loss of over 600 million rupees of public funds. The said allegation was supported by certified copies of authenticated evidence given by the Director General of Customs filed in the Supreme Court in relation to the Supreme Court in Case SCFR/536/2010.

The act committed by Mohan Peiris is a serious criminal office punishable under Section 70 of the Bribery Act and hence I urged the corruption commission to impound his passport.

However, this news item publish by Colombo Telegraph confirms that even the new administration is willing to compromise with the fraudster elements in the previsions regime, conveniently betraying the people who placed their trust in it.

In this background it appears that there no other alternative available to the people deceived by both MR and MY3, except to back Anura Kumara Dissanayake (JVP) who fearlessly fight with no uncompromising stance to bring those who are responsible for all sorts of abuses to book.

Now with this utterly corrupt CJ Mohan P , you have taken yet another gigantic step to bring this crook to book , irony is , Ranil ! Ranil tries to be too smart but same time he doesn’t know that he is compromising the people’s will , MY3 had made a big blunder by letting RW to run the show , he needs to oversee all the back room deals , this crook Mohan Peris has broken SL law quite few times hence needs to be arrested ASAP , what sort of bargain he is demanding now ? this sets a very bad precedence for SL’s image ,if he were to post as an ambassador .

This shameless Chief Justice had the temerity to blatantly lie about the missing Prageeth Eknalligoda at a UN Human Rights session. When the matter of Eknalligoda came up, he, as a delegate, in order to solicit favours from Gotabahaya, volunteered to pre-empt the question by stating that Eknalligoda had been seen in some parts of Europe and that he was alive and safe. Will you make this liar a diplomat? Bensen

      paul

he should not be given any diplomatic appointment, because it will be a joke if after that he is charged with crime and corruption. That is why he will be happy to go to Brazil for one day even because he knows that it will be a embarrassment after that to bring in this charges.

If he wants to wait let him tough it out and wait just like shiranee did and let him suffer just like her.The police must conclude the investigations of the dockyard and coup and bring charges against him.

Just like for GL pieris the CID must question him for about 4 hours at least. Also they must question him about his statement at the UN that Pradeep Eknaligoda was living in a foreign country aand reopen the case with him as the principal suspect as he may have killed him, otherwise they should ask him why he said that?

never should ever any thing be given in exchange. If he wants to fight to the last so be it,his pack of cards has no aces.Without the rajapakshes he is like a rudderless ship,so take your time and fix him.

The problem is, if he is an ambassador, he will enjoy diplomatic immunity so no country can touch him.
Another problem is, if he goes to another country, he might suddenly disappear. This is probably why he had allegedly asked for South America. Easy to get “lost” there.

They shouldn’t let this crook out of their sight until he is behind bars.

What great shame he has brought to our country and its people.

The Attorney General can issue a declaration that his appointment was not valid, because it was done while there was another Chief Justice in place at the time.

Just issue a letter to him and ask him to [Edited out]. Why is this so difficult. Is it because Ranil W is under some kind of obligation to or blackmail from this mfkr?

      • 3
        0

Maali you hit the nail on the head. No one here seems to realize this fact. Even I myself thought the easiest thing to do will be to arrest him and charge him. However, the constitution grants immunity from arrest and prosecution to the CJ. Therefore he cannot be arrested. The only way to get rid of him is impeachment. This requires a 2/3rd majority in parliament. There is an alternative which is to declare his appointment null then bring in S.B. But the RW camp does not trust S.B. due to her partisan behavior.

What is wrong with ranil? He was soft on MR and now on other partners in crime. Next to ask for such postings would be sajin, gl , gota and naamal.

The former regime under MR sent all criminals on diplomatic postings to grant them immunity so it seems all those afraid of the wheels of justice catching up with them feel it is their rightful entitlement to get a diplomatic posting.

What right does Mohan have to make such a request ? And how can ranil grant such favours? Next to ask will be Wimal buruwansa, froggy gamanpilla, dig vas, mervyn……

It is the same Mohan who mislead the UN in Geneva by saying journalist eheliagoda is alive. It is the same Mohan who gave directions to cover up customs duty evasion cases.

Little wonder our MEA stinks with the appointment of such non career persons for overseas postings.

Champika we count on the likes of you to ensure these persons are not given cushy postings but are investigated.

What a shame from a so called CJ. He misled MR and company enough and now wants to Perpetuate further with this government as well. Before he gets other appointments he will have to clear his name from various pending legal matters plus what to come in the near future.
Of all the position of CJ warrants high integrity and he should ask himself whether he is doing justice to it. If he still has By genuineness he should step out immediately and get his name cleared so that he could get some reputation back and coming in the legal profession.
As a member of the public
look forward to his decision with interest.

It looks like a 2 nd coup by the legal mind of Mohandas Peris.
The diplomatic post is like asking for an inoculation for life time immunity.

SO, being a cheap justice or an Executive President is being ABOVE the law? Is this the reason both of them did what they did? knowing that they couldnt be touched, arrested and jailed? Well then WE need a different law, where THEY and all citizens of SL are on equal footing. Why is it that White color criminals are above the law ? Ranil has a personal Grudge against Shiranee and is a pal of MP.. Is there a back door policy being used by Ranil to get his PALS out of tight situations? Is that why MR called RANIL and now the CJ is also trying to use Ranil? About time the OTHER TEAM PLAYERS voice their opinions and let these TRAITORS face sweet justice.. INJUSTICE has been meted out to people who have NO VOICE and by these IDIOTS abusing power… so the same Justice system that was used by these ASSES to penalize people should be used to serve justice…

I stopped reading the above reporting by CT beyond: “Surprisingly the Prime Minister has also agreed to the exchange”.

If that is “TRUE”?; this man PM never learns and never shows “Leadership”. He will betray the “Trust” placed on the new regime by the people and will go to prove the suspicions of the voters of him being a “Political Underground Snake”. If he has agreed on the terms demanded by the CJ, let him come before the PEOPLE after April 23rd 2015.

Incidentally, I have one “pertinent” question to the members of the “National Executive Council”, that meets every week and decides on matters relating to the administration of Governmental affairs.

Has this subject (resignation/removal of CJ) come before it and discussed and what is it’s decision? Has it “delegated” it in the hands of the PM and authorized to make his own decision?

The PEOPLE have a RIGHT to KNOW the answers.

CJ is a public Servant. The Police have commenced investigations. On a preliminary report to the President He could be interdiucted till the inquiry is over. If he is exonerated he could be reinstated. Or else if found guilty sent to the Gallows.

Why all this debate? Induce the police to speed up the investigation before it is too late. The Crime said to have been committed by CJ is treason.
