Shirani Leaves, She Was Not Allowed To Make A Statement To The Media

By Colombo Telegraph

Impeached Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake is preparing to leave her official residence at Bauddhaloka Mawatha around 4.00 pm today. A heavy police guard stationed in the area and there are police officers inside the official residence . Police informed media personnel present at the scene that Bandaranayake would not be allowed to make a statement to the media outside her official residence or anywhere near it.

A short confrontation occurred between media personnel and the police, when reporters questioned how pro-Government protesters were permitted to boil milk rice and agitate in front of her official residence on Friday. Lawyers say Bandaranayake is expected to leave the official lodgings in a short while.

Dignity of the Judiciary of Sri Lanka leaves with her.

She not only betrayed the good name of the hard built Judiciary system of the country but left the female eligibility for leadership hard earned by woman activists questioned also. Exactly matching her appointee Mrs. CBK’s 11 years long disastrous years in which the highest numbers of innocent civilians were killed in the name of peace.

    Her Silence speak very loudly.
She did her duty and exposed that our justice system is very sick. To have exposed that is a great service to the nation and to all of us.
We must be grateful to her– May no harm come to her.
    A grateful Sri Lankan

I pray the dignity will return stronger in one form or other. The legitimate CJ may be price the country has to pay for this to happen. I wish we do not have to pay this price and the legitimate CJ can continue in/ return to office, through popular and peaceful protests. The people’s voice and not the voice of the rabble, has to heard loud and clear.

I may be praying and hoping for miracles in this country. HOwever, Mira les do happen when least expected.

    Dr. Rajasingham Narendran

When they shouted for Human rights we said who wants Human rights, thats a western thing and we are sovereign.
When they shouted for the judiciary, we said who cares for the judiciary, that was introduced by the Suddah’s and we can do in the Sinhala way………apema ekak….

One day Fonseka was a hero
    Next day he was zero

One day CJ was fit for purpose
    next day CJ is unfit

    Don’t blame the Rajapakse’s………

Blame yourselves for being blind, for not seeing it coming and blame yourselves for calling others traitors and for not standing up for the likes of Lasantha.

It is the Sinhala electorate, with decades of free education, which is responsible for Sri Lanka’s instability.

Who can blame Tamils for battling the Sinhala state now?

Sinhalaya Balu wela – led by MR and the family.

You are right, but I have seen, they still do.. how many of them could easily be used for their sake as got to see on video in which protesters were brutally assaulted.

See, how would the SRILANKA be in 5 years now, if MR will further stay in power ? Criminals will get bred easily while ones respect rule of law will get isolated. Country will quickly become a state similar to former lybia or Egypt.

The usual perpetrators are now behind the attacks on the Muslims inventing another cause for blame to shield their own mess.

These buggers could kill her if she would not leave the official residence – MR has already proved that they are unpredictable. But the world is closely observing everything. MR ^s is already NOT welcome by EU, US, Canada, India and several other states. Only China will use SRILANKA as their garbage depot.

No doubt she will be able to address the media at a suitable point in time. For the moment she has to be patient and leave it to her lawyers. Now she is free of most encumbrances but must not expect the regime to let her go free. Probably she and family will be harrassed just as Genral Fonseka. Fortunately she has plenty of support among the judiciary, lawyers and public.

The history of this country will remember Dr. Shirani Bandaranayaka as a true patriot. She did what was possible to defend the rights of the citizens of this country. Indeed, she should be a model for the younger generation to follow. Those so called ‘deshapremis’ and the ‘leftists’ have immensely contributed to deprive the people’ of their freedom for the sake of the privilegese they enjoy as the ministers. Nevertheless, they too will be remembered but as ‘betrayers’.

She will be remembered as one,who along with the rest of the supreme court, conferred dictatorial powers on Mahinda Rajapakse,in addition to those of the Executive Presidency,by approving the 18th amendment within 24 hours.
Now the Military Dictatership is firmly entrenched.

      Reverend Father,
Whatever happened to your mate Ven Sobitha? You two should form a party with that David fellow and get ready to contest the next elections, Sobitha can be our President and you can be our Prime Minister and David fellow can be our Speaker. You can bring back the fired CJ and offer her, her job back.

Ah, I forgot, Pakiasothy, Jehan, WeliAmuna, and that lawyer lot and all these contributors can contest to be our MPs and then our ministers. Together with these ‘Singlish writing but self assumed as educated’ commentators here you can dump uneducated Mahawamsa mindsets villagers to a chasm and make this country great fruit-salad.

This is not something dr. SB, who is still the CJ morally and legally in this lawless country, unexpected with her own experience in the last weeks and knowing the king pins’ personalities first hand.

She with her dignified way let her silence, for the moment, speak volumes for everyone who cares to “listen”. What can’t be ruled out is this regime and its appendages could stoop to extremely low levels hounding her. There could well be purported charges ( continuing on charges drummed up for PSC), as the judiciary itself can be used against her. As the regime will not want to leave any room for dissenting views nor information, within and outside the country it may resort to controlling her movements, then incarcerating her and even physically harming her and blaming another party.

This regime will get agitated as the international pressure mounts and will turn its wrath on her even further. I do hope there are enough precautions taken by the persons close to her to ensure her physical safety. I don’t consider Sarath Fonseka as an astute person, but even I can’t deny he had a military mind. In spite of that, he wasn’t ready on both occasions ( on election day and then when he was abducted) as even that military minded man had underestimated the regime’s capacity to unleash raw illegal force.

I hope everyone around her, including her legal team and other well wishers, are considering what these developments indicate. To talk about rule of law and everything else, we have to have persons who can think straight, and this regime and the so called opposition both despise right thinking people, and even within the groups such as BASL and JSA, OPA they are very much in short supply. Right thinking people in the country, you have to live to fight another day, and to carry on the fight, as this country and its people deserve something better than this.

      K A Sumanasekera,
      Don’t be Modaya……”Prabakaran is a Murder”
Don’t get any unnecessary chances …..

“Ditta damm Wedaniya”, What K A Sumanasekera is saying is that one murder is laughing at another murder. I dont think anyone sympathies Prabhakaran, though he choose his death for his own people/ambition. Maharaja murder choose the other side by expense of all his people.

This is what really Prabhakaran wanted. He’ll be so happy where ever he are now. I guess he knew that this so called Deshapremi will do just one mistake as in 1983 so that he easily can win his ealam. That’s why he choose to support Mahinda over Ranil though Ranil seems to be favored to Tamils. The day he died is the day they really start the war. That’s because by killing so many innocent people and without getting any action for that we have proved that the cause he fight for is very true.

Madam I love the way you resisted. Your last two or three months in is more valuable than the whole 32 years you claim. Sorry I may be right or wrong. You are part of 18th Amendment, You gave OK unjustly to Gen. Fonseka…etc. However, everything good and bad were gone forever.

This Govt. and especially its Leader MR has sadly let down the people who put him there. It is a black day for the Sinhala people as it shows that the leadership cannot lead with Justice.

Let it be no wonder then when we Sinhala people find it even harder to suppress prejudice and insanity and also the blame pointed at us due to the mindless behaviour of our leaders.

We have to fight the good fight inspite of the rotten eggs who we have put in places of authority, and it is we alone first who have to show by example that we made a mistake and place people of moral character, with principles in their place who have the whole country’s interests at heart bearing in mind the multi ethnic and multi cultural mix we have and forever banish and incarcerate the law breaking street thugs with personal agendas.

We must learn a bitter lesson from that which has just happened and ensure it never happens in future.

When a bird is alive, it eats ants. But When the bird has died, ants eat it. Madam you reaped what you have sowed. You helped M.R’s dictatorial regime to Subjugate it’s opponents like S.F. You helped Mara to consolidate it’s(it deserve to be called it)position by several partial judgements.

U.N.P, the architect of this dictatorial constitution has kept a record by being in opposition for 18 years by now. Natures law will affect on Mara too. No one can get away with it.

Fellow countrymen, Never loose faith. We will witness the fall of Idi Mahin before we die. May this curse befallen on all Rajapakshas and their supporters.

So MARA Finally got Rid of CJ after using her to get throug 18th amendment. This is worse than Saudi Sharia Law.

MARA Jailed Gen.Sarath Fonseka after using him to win the war.

MARA used India, US, Norway, EU to win LTTE war saying that he will implement 13th amendment, and now he hoodwinked all of them. Not even Darusman report or LLRC report were ever implemented.

What is Next MARA have in mind…….now after taking over both Legislature and Judiciary under his (Dictator’s) Executive’s arms.

What Did all the opposition parties did Until allowing MARA dictator to do whatever he want with his Pariah Brothers to Loot the country’s wealth, made reporters, journalists, and human right activists to disappear in white vans, intimidating, harassing and jailing Nothern tamil brothers and sisters etc…etc..

Opposition with Ranil betrayed all of us UNP’ers and the citizen for not fighting for their rights.

MR.RANIL PLEASE LEAVE UNP FOR GOOD WITH RESPECT NOW, BEFORE WE KICK YOU IN SHAME. YOU ARE THE JOHANA IN THE PARTY….PLEASE FOR GOD’S SAKE…LEAVE.

Basil Just stole 85 Billion Rupees Divineguma Fund. He is planning to recruit over 100,000 party members Just as administrators LEAVE ALONE THE POOR BENEFACTORS OF THE FUND.Fifty percent (50%) of the fund will be spent just to pay salaries of these administrators. WHERE IS THE REST OF THE 85 BILLION FUND GOING TO GO…….OTHER THAN BASIL’S POCKET.

Seventy percent ( 70%) of the Budget is spent to manitain Rajapakse Government administration and on Security.

Seveny percent (70) of the Population are malnutrished. In Afganistan it is only (50%) fifty percent.

Sixty percent (60%) of the people live in cadjan (tin and coconut leaf roofs) houses……similar to VEDDA (Native) community live……60 years after independence.

THEREFORE SINCE THERE IS NO CONSTITUTION I DON’T SEE ANY REASON FOR OPPOSITION PARTY MP’S TO ATTEND PARLIAMENT.

IF THE GOVT.CAN RUN THE COUNTRY ALONE….WHY IT NEED AN OPPOSITION. IT’S TIME FOR OPPOSITION TO LEAVE PARLIAMENT AND GET INTO STREET TO PROTEST.

I HOPE THE JUDICIARY WILL GIVE AN EGG AND TOMATO BUFFET LUNCH FOR THE NEW CJ WELCOME PARTY.

PLEASE DON’T BE SINHALA PONNAYA AND SHOW YOUR MANHOOD BOTH TO MARA AND NEW CJ.DON’T GET SCARED TO BUFFALO POLICE AND SECURITY DEPT.

If not in Sri Lanka…..we will definitely get MARA [Edited out] outside.

WE ARE STILL WITH YOU MADAM CJ SHIRANI BANDARANAYAKE.

    MAY GOD BLESS YOU.
