The Daily Mirror newspaper edited by Champika Liyanarachchi which failed to report on the anti Muslim violence in the Aluthgama area for the past five days published a series of pictures in its newspaper today of Sinhala homes that had been damaged in the violence on Sunday.

The newspaper editors had claimed the under reporting of the religious riots in the south were born of a desire to refrain from inflaming communal tensions further in the light of the incidents, sources within the Daily Mirror Editorial told Colombo Telegraph.
However it published a series of photographs of Sinhala families whose homes had been damaged in the riots while JHU Minister Champika Ranawaka was on a visit to a Sinhala settlement in the Dharga Town area in its Saturday edition.
“It has exposed our prejudice. We are standing for aggressors of minorities we will stand up for the majority community but never ever for the minorities” a journalist at Daily Mirror told Colombo Telegraph.
The journalists said that it was a grave miscarriage of justice to fail to report on the fate of Muslims while attempting to portray the victimisation of the Sinhala community alone.
“We could have balanced it and written about it but we just stayed silent” the reporters said.
The newspaper has come into serious criticism for its failure to effectively report on the anti Muslim violence the past week. It has also condemned the social media users for updating about the violence on their private networks. The Daily Mirror position on social media has been no different to that of the state media newspaper Daily News which called Twitter users ‘vultures‘ for their reports on the issues in Aluthgama.
Saturday’s report and pictures of Sinhala settlements attacked were published under the title US creating another Taliban in Sri Lanka – words of JHU Minister Ranawaka who claimed the US was not taking a stronger stance on Muslim extremists operating in Sri Lanka.
Liyanarachi is alleged to be on intimate terms with the JHU minister Champika Ranawaka.

There are thousands of non Vellla women who clean toilets, sweep shopping centre floors, and make beds in Hotels for the love of the Dollar whilst Vellalaa spouses stay home and watch soapies.

But their inhabitant cousins, lost a whole generation of youth, produced 80,000 War Widows ( TNA stats) and 300,000 captives.
And non Vellals evidently still are landless as same as before Prabakaran.
Temples are still under apartheid and the dalits getting marriage proposals from Wellawatta is a near imposibility.

The Aluthgama Drama is getting tantalizing, just like the alluring lady in the photograph. Inshallah in the first week of the New Year 2015 when the drama is concluded I hope to meet with her and celebrate the orgasmic conclusion.

The online edition of the Daily Mirror is the only newspaper I have been reading, because of their less biased and more balanced news reporting thus far. Alas, I notice that it is becoming pro-government biased though officially it is not under Govt. control, like the Daily News. It is also noticeable that DM is cosying upto Champika Ranawaka as the comments space has been disabled only under the article titled “US creating a Taliban Sri Lanka:Champika”. As stated in this article they only show pictures of Sinhala settlements which suffered during the riots and not the Muslim ones, which was much more severe.

I am making these comments here in response to the article titled “US crating a Taliban in Sri Lanka: Champika” appearing the Daily Mirror as I could not do so under the DM website:
1) Champika is saying the US is trying to distort the Aluthgama incidents. Firstly, he is trying to pass the buck and secondly there is nothing to distort when the truth of what happened is plain and clear to any unbiased person.
2) The matter had been taken to the International forum as the minorities have lost faith in the Govt. and the law enforcement mechanism and procedures here in Sri Lanka.
3) It is not the US which is trying to create a Taliban in Sri Lanka but the bigoted and racist groups like the JHU, BBS, Sinhala Ravaya etc. who are nurturing and supporting the creation of a Sinhala Buddhist Taliban in Sri Lanka.
3) Any “help” which he offers to resolve the issue will be only to the advantage of the racist forces.
