President Maithripala Sirisena and his appointee to the post of Prime Minister, Mahinda Rajapaksa held a special meeting with all SLFP and UPFA Parliamentarians at the Presidential Secretariat, this evening.
The meeting followed a discussion between Sirisena and Rajapaksa over the members of the new Cabinet. A senior SLFP Parliamentarian said Sirisena had given “full freedom” to Rajapaksa to nominate anyone to any position in the government.
The meeting at the Presidential Secretariat was jointly chaired by Sirisena and Rajapaksa, while SLFP Senior Vice Chairman Nimal Siripala de Silva also sat with them.
During the meeting, UPFA General Secretary Mahinda Amraweera presented a motion extending the support of all UPFA Parliamentarians to Rajapaksa to continue in his position as the Prime Minister. The motion was seconded by SLFP National Organizer Duminda Dissanayake.
UNP Parliamentarian Ananda Aluthgamage, CWC Leader Arumugam Thondaman and EPDP Leader Douglas Devananda also attended the meeting where the affairs of the new government were widely discussed.
Meanwhile, UPFA Parliamentarian Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena said the President would address the nation tomorrow. He also added that the new Cabinet of Ministers will take oaths before the President on Monday.
However, UNP’s Harin Fernando said his MPs still function as members of the government. Speaking to media this evening, Fernando said Cabinet members of the UNP will hold a meeting with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe tomorrow morning and address the press.

It was more than five years engineering to bring him down for the world. It was three and a half year engineering for him to come back.
The devil possessed UNP is gone. Will UNP sprout afresh with lush green again? Colombo Media suggest Ranil may not want to give a challenge to get back his job. The Ministers lost the job will struggle to reseat Ranil until Nov16. Then they too would look for the shade in SLFP goverment. Parliament election would not pose a threat to SLFP. But the presidential election which should come first under normal circumstances will pose problem. Tamils and Muslims have no faith in SLFP. This time Muslim parties so far have not taken any seat in the new government. Hakeem doesn’t rush; he looks before leap. When things are safe, he will. But if he has not join them soon, their majority will be under question.

Slfp governments are authontorian super powers no, they hold the 47% vote base as single party and considered as a great managers for economy since they have atchitected the 80 billion USD economy just in 10 years which they got only 20 billion USD in 2005. 80% middle class and upper middle class and they have the support of the entire high ranking business class for their super capitalist business economic policy. And all government mechanisms are with them even they are in opposition. Unp normally does not have any power and considered as pathola party which lead by innocent leaders like Jr, premadasa, gamini ,lalith ,or Ranil who did not have any managerial skill or administration skills and never had an ability to uplift the srilankan economy at least up to 15 billion usd during their period . they have done good things for agriculture in srilanka, and they are not business or economic managers like slfp. They don’t have any performance records in economic managements like slfp governments. So I am asking super power slfpers do not harras those innecent pathola unp people , let them to keep media briefing ,they are also humans and srilankans . but we have to consider one thing is the pathola party like unp Is suits for the main opposition to face the super power authontorian slfp governments.
