Sirisena To Convene Parliament On November 05 Amid Severe International Pressure To Uphold Democracy

After discussions with Speaker Karu Jayasuriya yesterday, President Maithripala Sirisena has agreed to convene Parliament on November 05, reversing his earlier order to convene it on November 16.

President Sirisena – Leader of the SLFP

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, in a statement to media a short while ago, confirmed that the President conveyed the decision to him. Before the President ordered probation of Parliament until November 16, the House was scheduled to convene on November 05 for the second reading of the Appropriation Bill.

‘At the next sitting of Parliament, Rajapaksa will take up the chair of the Prime Minister as his name has been gazetted as the Prime Minister’, the Speakers Office said.

The decision to convene Parliament on Monday has been made amid increasing international pressure on the President to allow the legislature to perform its functions.

The UN Resident Coordinator in Sri Lanka Hanaa Singer met President Sirisena in Colombo yesterday and requested him to uphold the constitution and adhere to the democratic procedures.

The same request was made to Speaker Jayasuriya when the UN Resident Coordinator, European Union Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Tung-Lai Margue, UK High Commissioner James Dauris, Canadian Ambassador David MacKinnon and German Ambassador Jorn Rohde met him in Parliament yesterday. They expressed grave concerns about the current political situation and pointed out the detrimental consequences Sri Lanka could face as a result of the “unexpected political transition.”

Opposition Leader R. Sampanthan too met the UN Resident Coordinator in Parliament yesterday and urged her to exert international pressure on President Sirisena to convene Parliament and uphold democracy.

Meanwhile, the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna is scheduled to hold a rally in Nugegoda today at 3 pm against the appointment of Rajapaksa as the Prime Minister.

The party has stated that by appointing Rajapaksa as the Prime Minister, President Sirisena has beached the Constitution and undermined democracy.

Patholaya has got himself into a trap. He is now facing mass rebellion at home, severe economic sanctions by the west, and the ire of the international community. Gnanacca, and his brother Dudley are his chief advisors working pell-mell to diffuse the situation.

What an ignorant idiot we elected in 2015. He didn’t expect any consequences from his self-serving actions. No wonder he said in his speech the other day that EAP was “sold to a foreigner without calling for tenders”. Even my pet dog knows EAP isn’t public property.
Now let’s see how how he gets his ba**s out of the vice.

He just wants a second term with Rajpakse’s support ………… and to put the country through all this for that?

His “dislike” for Ranil started from the day Ranil – like the true gentleman he is :)) – informed him that he intends to run for the presidency ……… way ahead of time.

Ranil could have easily hidden his motives till the end and thrown him to the wolves at the last minute …………. surely ……….. like the utterly principled and classy Rajapakses will never do

Do not blame yourself. You like many others would have voted for any feasible option to be rid of MR.
        *
It was a hasty choice by CBK, RW and others. They were willing to do anything to be rid of MR.
The UNP-SLFP alliance that followed was unprincipled and had no concrete plans to salvage the country from its multiple crises.
MR felt insecure in a matter of months, and the local elections topped it. Sensing his weaknesses, the UNP MPs could have dealt with him more sensitively. Ranil did nothing to deter the growing bitterness.
MR had judged one thing correctly, the prospect of a UNP victory in elections is getting poorer by the day. He also knows that he has an even weaker base in the SLFP than he had in 2015.
But this hasty action is utterly foolish as he could have constitutionally dismissed the government after the horse trading was complete, or even better wait and dissolve parliament next year.
MR if he seizes power will at best allow him a happier retirement than he allowed CBK.

Really, I would have been happy if the man kept his mouth shut while playing President. But we are forced to listen to his sanctimonious moral positions on such things as women and liquor and the perfidy of tie-and coat wearers. MR at least has enough charisma to make you thing he’s doing you a favour while cutting your neck.

He is a fraud went around begging for Tamil people’s votes stating he will grant federalism land and police rights and a merged north and east. He even went to the west met the Tamil diaspora and got their help to elect him and now he states there will be no federalism merging of the north and east or Tamil rights , even if he has to die he will not grant them. Proves all these Sinhalese politicians are opportunists liars racist and will never grant any just rights to the Tamil speaking people( Sri Lankan Tamils, Indian origin Tamils and the Muslims) they use them to gain power, promising everything and then go back on them. This has been happening since 1948. Tamils need their own sovereignty back. Britain is the cause that Tamil find them selves in this predicament. If the Sinhalese want to self destruct electing useless good for nothing opportunists, rogues , war criminals, rapists and racists , that is their wish but why should the Tamil speaking people suffer, when they had their own land and ruled themselves.

There is no such thing called a Dalit Brahmin. Only in your stupid Salafist Wahhabi mind. You can either be a Dalit or a Brahmin but cannot be both. Your converted ancestors belonged to the former and me to the latter but it is not an issue to me. . This is why you are obsessed with dalits, caste and want to claim a fake Arab origin , despite stating there is no caste or class or racism in Islam. However people who follow Islam like everyone else practice class , caste, tribal and racial/ethnic discrimination. There is a pecking or class order even amongst Arab, Pashtun and Baluch Muslim tribes. As for racism amongst various Muslim people there is enough evidence. You and the rest of Salafist/Wahhabi fake Arab wannabes are annoyed and angry with me as I have stated the real and actual origin of 99% of the so called Sri Lankan Moors or Muslims, that they are not of Arab/Moor heritage but are descended from largely low caste/dalit immigrant Indian Tamils , whose ancestors converted to Islam to escape the Hindu caste system. You backstabbers cannot accept this truth , for despite al your comments about there is no caste ,class or race discrimination , you still practice this. This is why you cannot acknowledge your real origin and pathetically cling to a fake Arab/Moor ancestry , that you hardly have , as you think it is more prestigious and politically more advantageous than your true South Indian , largely low caste immigrant origin and attack me for stating the truth. Hypocrite.

      This is Bold text

Cut off your nose to spite your face

When people are dissatisfied or angry, they sometimes react by doing foolish things that prove harmful to themselves.
This is a story about 4 friends- a crow, tortoise, rat and the dear.
When the tortoise (Prez MS) heard that a group of hunters were planning to camp near the lake. He got upset and frightened. He decided to leave his friends and the lake. His friends want him against it yet he left.
Unfortunately on his way he was caught by a HUNTER ( in this case – FAMILY RAJAPAKSHE).
It is best never to take decisions when the mind is not calm. Such decisions always prove to be harmful.

Now the bayyas would intrepret it – that is a western conspiracy.

They would always interfere in our internal affairs.

They will gon on smashing coconuts but not thinking about the starving folks ( who are also Srilankens)

That man with a mouth piece skin to a bed pan (pseudo doctor Bandula Gunawardhana) – Ranil sought the support of international community.

If you are honest, we cant be without international community, we are internet connected. Just for gains into folks/country, IC is good enough but when they criticise bayya’s anti-constitiounal behavoiurs – then they stand against them.
Ha ha.. if we the folks saw in the mirror, we could long guide the nation to progress..

“I won’t stay even one hour if Ranil comes back: Prez”

I suspect from this …….. Sirisena is trying to appoint Sajith Premadasa as the PM ……….. if he can’t buy enough UNP MPs to cross over to Mahinda

It’s rumoured there was a secret meeting with Sajith and Sirisena

I too am disappointed if Ranil comes back ………… I wanted Mahinda and Sirisena and the voters who support them ……… to face the looming economic tsunami ……….. not many people yet know what’s out here …………. in store for the “emerging countries”

OC, ………. just observer how they use Sirisena now; he has no clue! ……. This is what I wrote elsewhere

          “Rajaakseh men would assasinate Ranil”

You are reading it all wrong ………… Ranil is not the target …………. Rajapakses are not that stupid ………… once Mahinda is firmly entrenched as the PM ……… they will assassinate Sirisena using the rogue elements in the forces.

According to the constitution ……. the PM Mahinda becomes president ………… that’s the only way he can get to the presidency now unable to contest an election

Smart move, Basil ……… stand up take a bow.

But lanken extremists have always been – to paint it in favour of their extemists thoughts and minds.

I happened to listen to what few young backbenchers of JO have got to say:

      – what matters for them is peoples love his come back – irrelevant prorogation of parliament for them – these men are young
      – and they ve been trying to paint it that RW – requested assistance from UN
      – they dont care about facts about the constitituion.
      – to tell you Mr Rodrigo, all I have asked for their thoughts and minds (graduates) had the same opinion as mine – that the PM position is unconstitutional
      – and just imagine, how they MR et al, wasted the funds alone during this week on their extra vaganz celebrations (for me alone going to celebrate them not having endorsed by Parliment should be a huge mistake due to lack of information)
      – who would pay those sums back (there are masses in the country – 40% are reported to be under nourishment)
      – would they charge them from their MEDAMULANA properties ?

See, PM Wikramasinghe has been very smart in this interview.

He has not asked for any assistance from anyone.

Now Bayyas would interpret it in favour of them /Extremists.

I admired teh way he never showed to be weak in this interview given that his security personnel have been reduced to 10 (1%) – he just added, it is fine..

    Bravoooooooooooooooooooooooo!;

This alone is a great success and now he has been making every efforts to send the message across Punnakku eaters dominated country – ” if Ranil would be back, I would not even remain an hour”, but not a single word about the man he himself name as a the multikiller, who could take his family unless he claimed no victory in 2015 struggle.

Our people (average mind set) would just believe whatever being spread by their media units these days. so the opinion is being built albeit appointment made by Prez is unconstitutional, but majority in the country are in the opinion that MR should take over.

Most of them I heard are not the least knowledge on Constitution/or as to why the mandate should be proved by a floor test. TO me, after the parliament confirmed it only RAJAPASHE should abuse the state funds for his celebrations be them for Ministry of Finance or others, because the funds being wasted for these big show-off celebrations are not from his Madamulana Wallawwa.
Even my dog would respect law and order and dignified life but Rajapakshe would never.

No doubt if Teachings of Lord Buddha are the truths – Incumbent President should be impeached by end of next week. He has now become a laughing stock to entire world… Adios MS !

  • 22

I have no doubt Ranil will be so humble enough sit even on the floor.

If Rajaakshe is comfortable with PM ‘s chair, he should take his seat. But these steps are really really disgusting. – only valid to SRILANKA dominated by Rascals.

Not even Ethiopians of today would work this way. Not knowing ABCD of a constitution, MS to start becoming our president – really a shame to us all.

Gamaya come to town. Gamaya going home now. This modaya didn’t know ABCD in the alphabet of politics. Neither knew parliamentary norms or procedure so to speak. His biggest asset was boru talk in native language. From a near impossible stand this idiot has come down to earth Now he cries he will resign forthwith if Mahinda is defeated. Who cares for patholaya? He is a dud coin anyway. His own party members are upset at the harakiri he committed by kissing the very hand that was to bury him 6 feet under. Let this modaya go back to where he belongs. Never come back to see Ho-gaana-pokuna or diyawanna oya.

Call him “Patholaya” by all means; never use gamaya or native language as terms of insult. I am a gamaya, as are the majority of voters. I happen to know English, but we have two swabashas that must command respect. There should normally be no negative connotations in the word “native” but ours is a strange society, to say the least.

How come the UN or the White West did not intervene in the “democratic process” when in 2015 the sitting PM with a massive majority and the Chief justice was vaporized by Sirisena and Wickramasinghe?
Ranil very happily and pompously accepted the post of PM with only 42 of 225 seats in Parliament in 2015. Obviously, he saw no “democratic issue” then but is crying to the White powers to reinstall him. Time to keep these White pariahs out of our political system, good or bad.

yes this is a valid question. But why those donkey never raised it but continued to be hallozinated as they usually would do.

Besides, constitution without 19A was powerful. That + preagreement in election agenda were what had been followed in January 2015

But you guys would be happy, on the 5th, now everything seem to be moving as we expected – which is to endorse it by a floor test in the parliament.

Were you living in Mars in 2015? In 2015 PM was appointed in accordance with a clear mandate the president got from the people to appoint a PM and execute a 100 day program. What happened last week is not by people’s mandate but by a conspiracy.

    • 4
      0

Simple brother, you may have been on the loosing side of the 2015 Election at the time but credit to MR, Democracy prevailed. People gave the mandate to Sirisena and Ranil who won on a platform to ‘vaporize’ Mohan Peris and proved Majority support in Parliament to form a govt and become PM without any hesitation or delay. As such unlike now, no one protested including you. Even now most of us will not care two hoots who assumes the PMs seat as both are morons, but we care how one gets there as that is the process where you and I both have a say and more importantly PAY for it, even our children may not be able to PAY off these debts. If you and I dont like the person then lets fix that in the next election. But if they want to appoint each other based on their OWN WILL then yours any my children should not have to PAY for it.

It is like this Rajiv. Western opinions and actions bear fruition only when the horoscopes of the victims, Nekathas, in short planets, align themselves right.
      .
This time, as my hero Dr. Mervyn predicted (and as I reported in CT), the Nekatha was mara nekatha not at all suitable for a new alliance. Marriages would not be consummated in that type of planetary alignment even if other things may be aligned perfectly. This alliance between Maru Sira and Mara was doomed form the start.

      • 0

I never respected Mervin, but his sounded me somewhat wise yesterday not focusing on astro predictions but more about how MS and MR had to sack RW.

Mervin is not a fool, but he was abused by Rajapakshe men only for thuggish activities, placing him before their crime activities. Like for example tha mann they attacked SIRASA then. But like a blackbox, he has got all the needful info regarding various crimes.
He is the man with underground networks across colombo, so his support is indispensible when handling various issues with those criminal gangs.

Ranil appointment was in the parliament ( parliament not prorogued )……… not done secretly in the evening without anyone knowing bar a few conspirators.

If the MPs didn’t like Ranil’s appointment as the PM in 2015 …….. they could have easily brought in a no-confidence motion and gotten rid of him …………

That’s how democracy works; try to get Mahinda or Sirisena or the majority of Lankans to grasp that!

    • 4

      Rajiv Tennekoon,
Be human, moral, Buddhist. We all know what happened to democracy between 2010 and 2015. It is the people who decided to throw out Mahinda Rajapakse and his government for his dictatorship during this period. There is no mandate from the people to throw out Ranil or to appoint Mahinda as PM. Who is Mahinda now? He is only an MP. Not a leader of any political party. On what basis he was given PM? This is what international community including UN asking. Srilanka is a country in the United Nations. Can you ask Sirisena to leave the UN now because UN is wrong? Can you ask Sirisena to stop all the relations with USA, EU, UK and Canada? The country not belong to Sirisena or Mhinda Family. It is the land of all Srilankans. It is the people who wants the democracy.

Butterfly Effect : It is a pity that the US and other Western Countries had to show what MS has to do. Sri Lanka is not an island in this interconnected world. Actions in some small corner of the world could have grave reactions on some other faraway part of the world. This is no longer speculation, but a well grounded theory popularly called the Butterfly Effect but more seriously known as the Chaos Theory.
    .
While being grateful to these countries for making MS do what is right, I am ashamed that he, while talking a lot about honesty and claims that he is a good Buddhist, could not see the right from the wrong in this clear cut case.
    .
Knowing the man, I am sure it is not logic, or fair play that moved him. Rather, it is the threat that he or his family members will not be welcome in any of these countries that did the trick.
    .
It is not Ranil or UNP that these countries have helped by their actions. It is us the Putujjana that they have helped. As a common man of Sri Lanka, I thank you all.

MR is like Aritta Kee Vendu, Purohitha to King Rajasinghe I of Seethawaka.
The Sinhala saying “Raja ho, Ma ho, Ganga ho” means:
Purohithe mislead the king to destroy temples gave all ill-advise to the King to get away from the curse of killing his father Mayadunne. Ultimately as the last resort Purohitha had an offering to the God in Barabdi Kovil on Seethawaka River. He knew well that his offers will not make any good but for his survival, he was chanting the above phrase:
“Raja ho, Ma ho, Ganga ho”
This means ‘If the king dies I (A K V) win, If I die still I win, or else If the river floods I win by blaming the river’
Now modern version (MR is Modern ‘Aritta Kee Vendu’) in the current crises, assuming the ‘resolution’ is passed in the parliament,
    1) To say RW has the majority confidence, MR will say there is no ‘No confidence’ against him (MR the PM) and will continue as MS and MR have no decency in politics
    2) If the resolution is ‘No confidence’ in MR PM, them he will jump up and get parliament dissolved
    3) If the resolution is confidence for MR, again MR will stay.
I feel the parliament shall recognise, under NO circumstances MR to claim PM status (including the chair of the Prime Minister, arrange 2 chairs of equal status)

Nb: Seethawaka is in 3 Koalas of Kegalla district

To be honest Sirisena is a dumb idiot. He was hiding with his family in Kurunegala fearing his life soon after 2015 presidential election. How come the predator and prey became buddies overnight? MR is already behaving like a president and his thugs and stooges are started the disgusting poster/banner culture anywhere you go and I was shocked to see any available piece of glass at the airport vandalised like pigeon poo with Mahinda Rajapakayas grimace faced picture taken some twenty years back.

China promised and already pumping much needed cash to buy the MPs to vote in favour of Mahinda once the parliament resumes business but Sira-sena has another trump card in his hand- dissolve parliament even before the proposed impeachment against him put on table. MR is fuming with rage that his intimidation tactics are not working this time to ‘buy’ the majority in parliament. Gota and Basil being US citizens are not allowed this time to meddle with our affairs and Robert Hilton (US Embassy in Colombo) warned them to stay away or face consequences.
India, Japan, US and the EU will not tolerate Sri Lanka being used as Chinese base any longer.
More ugly seen are ahead of us and brewing another civil unrest on the horizon. Be prepared folks!!!!!!

M&s say it would stay an hour in power ..
    Great news ..
He knows well that he will be impeached as soon as Ranil come back ..
Then he needs to avoid treason charge..
So; he will have to beg Ranil to avoid it ..
Why not seek asylum in some country now with his family ..
Before he is impeached and jailed .
He will create a history ..
Can we expect Sri MA scenarios of losing civic rights soon.
If Ranil like JR he will do that ..
    A drama is not finished yet;
I wonder if some one can make a political drama about all this episodes.
What a joke in Sri Lanka politics

How many of us The Citizens have read the constitution?

According to the above, The President has appointed Mr. Mahinda Rajapakshe as Prime Minister within the legal framework of The constitution.

There has always been a difficulty for our politicians to undo the Executive Presidential power, though Mr. Ranil and his camp are complaining it is very clear that Mr. Ranil had an hidden agenda to not abolish the executive presidency and it has backlashed on him today.
(One has to be sincere, not 99.9%,but 100 %)
What matters now is to see if Mr. Mahinda Rajapakshe as the new Prime Minister can establish law and order, Transparency in every institution of the country, if he can also provide protection to the minorities ,the freedom to practice their religion, while protecting the rights of of The Majority and Buddhism.

    There is no more doubts,
Mr. Mahinda Rajapakshe is The lawful Prime Minister of Sri Lanka.

Only way to change it is by a fresh General election.

People must continue to remain calm and not let external forces destroy our Country.

    NB:let’s see if Mr
MAHINDA Rajapakshe can really bring the change what we all have been wanting.
Starting with religious and ethnic reconcile and of cause transparency and power returned to parliament fully.
If that happens he will have the blessing of the entire population of Sri Lanka.

Better live in hope than die in despair.

I feel the parliament shall recognize, under NO circumstances MR to claim PM status (including the chair of the Prime Minister, arrange 2 chairs of equal status)
Nb Seethawaka is in 3 Koralas in Kegalla District

What MS and MR have plotted and are trying to pull off now can only be described as ‘Balu Weda’. Knowing their backgrounds it is not surprising that they are behaving this way. What I cannot come to terms with is that there are some guys who wear coats and suits, are highly educated and speak excellent English, who are with them providing support and attempting to justify these lowdown actions.

There are some Tamils too who have joined them; these chaps are all traitors to the Tamil cause.

    This is NOT right!
I am not talking about the reconvening of the Parliament.
I am talking about Ranil Wickremasinghe, the Sitting Prime Minister.
The President has NO AUTHORITY to REMOVE A SITTING PRIME MINISTER through “a Gazette notification.” Are you kidding?
I know the full story now. I will tell it later. It is not easy to suppress my anger.
Mahinda can take the Seat allocated to the President in the House as HE HAS DULY SWORN IN as the PM and already assumed duties.
BUT, the Sitting PM SHOULD HAVE HIS DUE SEAT in the House.
If not, we should have a “New Seat” side by side, for Co-PMs.
I have fought for justice, fairness and equality for the last 4 years no matter who the victim is. I cannot keep my mouth shut when I see an injustice to anyone, even to a foe.
Over 70% in Sri Lanka are Buddhists. The world’s FIRST DEMOCRATIC LEADER is Lord Buddha. We follow his path.
Ranil’s removal is illegal. It’s more than a “constitutional coup.”
It is a downright despicable conspiracy deceiving the country.
It is a “guerrilla attack” to democracy, Constitution and Parliamentary practice and above all people’s mandate in August 2015, although they are our opponents.
There was injustice to Mahinda prior to and aftermath of the General Election. This same President conspired against him and openly supported UNP, thus many SLFP voters refrained from voting. Then there was a 4-hour BLACKOUT just before the final results were announced which is a BLATANT VIOLATION OF ELECTION LAWS. However, as there was no option, and also fear of reprisal and political witch-hunt against Mahinda, people accepted the results. That’s a different story.
I must place on record, Mahinda IS NOT PARTY to this conspiracy.

      Contd’ …. 1/2 (MY SOLUTION)
Mahinda, who is a former President and a former PM with 48 years of unblemished political career, was DULY APPOINTED by the President exercising his prerogative as stipulated in the Constitution.
I am pretty sure “HE WAS FORCED TO ACCEPT” this post, but, he is fully entitled, given the fact that he holds the MAJORITY SUPPORT IN THE COUNTRY, and Ranil only holds the MAJORITY SUPPORT IN THE PARLIAMENT!
Therefore, Mahinda is entitled TO CONTINUE as a Co-PM and the Leader of UPFA-Group in the Parliament. I know this is a novelty. However, there is no problem in coming to an AMICABLE SOLUTION within the “Concept of Unity Government” where Ranil and Mahinda are Leaders of their respective political parties in the Parliament.
I STRONGLY urge Ranil and UNP to ACCEPT Mahinda as a Co-PM and work together in this “new dimension” to Sri Lanka’s politics.
In other words, the Unity Government, “the tandem bicycle” didn’t move in the right direction as it was pedaled by one man, when there are TWO-SEATS and TWO-PEDALS.
With Mahinda as the Co-Prime Minister, “the tandem bicycle” can NOW be pedaled by two men, as required.
If the UNP doesn’t give Mahinda HIS DUE RIGHTS as a Sworn Prime Minister, I am afraid there will be riots on the streets as people will not tolerate any injustice to him.
I urge all the Top Leaders in the country, the President, the Co-Prime Ministers, the Speaker and the Leader of the Opposition, you have 4 days before the Parliament is reconvened.
REMEMBER what matters to us is OUR MOTHERLAND.
Start a dialogue like CIVILIZED POLITICIANS and “accept my proposal” presented as someone from the PUBLIC.
Nonetheless, I stand by what I said. The next President IS NOT A RAJAPAKSA.

Great idea Champa, but this is plagiarism. Yesterday, I suggested something very similar, Mahinda as the Sinhala PM and Ranil as English PM (not Co- PM).
        .
You should be ashamed of using my idea without giving me due credit for it.
        .
But them what can one expect from a cheap follower of cheap politician like Mahinda. He did the same with SF. Clamed all the credit and then tried to destroy brave SF.
        .
As Marie Antoinette said, if they cannot have peace let them riot in the streets – or some such inflammatory thing. I too say, let them riot in the streets as long as they are not the streets of Bahrain or Saudi Arabia. I am safe here with my family.
        .
Oh, by the way, I forgot. Did you see how they deal with traitors here? They most certainly deserve it. Don’t try to be a traitor to your Motherland. The repercussions are not pleasant to the perpetrator.

How could this be plagiarism? (I didn’t even see your comment.)
This is NOT the first comment I used those words. The Co-PM concept I maintained in most of my previous comments.
In my over 35-40 comments on this matter itself so far, since October 27, CT will vouch that the MOST PROMINENT WORDS I used were “Two PMs” and “Co-PMs.” It is clear who has copied whose.
You yourself say that it is NOT your idea and that your idea was Sinhala PM and English PM, a STUPID IDEA which I would never copy even in my wildest dreams!!! Then how could you claim credit for my original words and slander me for nothing? And unlike you, as usual, I have given reasons for calling them “Co-PMs.”
I said from the very beginning that Mahinda’s APPOINTMENT is LEGAL and Ranil’s REMOVAL is ILLEGAL and as a result, we have TWO Prime Ministers for the first time in Sri Lanka. Then I started using the standard word “Co-Prime Ministers.”
Moreover, I said twice here (and a few days ago to Wimal) that I have a solution and I will present it once the tension is died down.
I have never ever copied anybody’s ideas, of all the people, yours. When I have original, sensible, independent ideas, why should I copy somebody’s stupid idea?

        Contd’…….
I couldn’t add this part to my second comment as it reached the 300-word limit.
I wish to state the fact that Ranil and the UNP has no other choice other than accepting Mahinda as a Co-PM as there is no way to remove him now!!!!
The ONLY provisions in the Constitution to remove a Prime Minister is either by a No Confidence Motion with 2/3 majority or by his resignation.
I don’t see any way for UNP to meet either of these requirements.
I stress the point that Mahinda should be granted all civil, political and judicial privileges and all other entitlements and courtesies due for a Prime Minister.
As suggested before, the best place for his official residence is the President’s House in Fort which is considered as an “unoccupied dwelling” for the last 4 years.

          More to say………………..
I wish to tell both Mahinda and Ranil in the strongest possible way – “DON’T make any attempt to impeach the President OR abolish the Executive Presidency.
You both have disgustingly “used” the President and he had also “used” you two!!!!
You ALL have given enough, shameful, third rate, BAD EXAMPLES of betrayals, corruption and double-crossing to our younger generation. We are ashamed to call you our leaders!!!
The next President should NOT be elected from the UNP, SLFP/SLPP (?) or JVP.
Sri Lanka needs PRINCIPLED NEW LEADERS!!!!

Champa, this is worse than I thought. Cohabitation is defined as the state of living together and having a sexual relationship without being married. Are you suggesting that the two parties concerned should have a relationship like that? God Forbid!
          .
We all know our rulers lie, steal and even kill if they have to. But they stop at wrongful sex (Kamesu Miccacara). Just because someone in a heated moment says, ‘If you come home, I will leave it within the hour’ you should not suspect Kamesu Miccacara.
          .
I can prove that all your comments are in many cases baseless. For example, you say I couldn’t add this part to my second comment as it reached the 300-word limit. My 3 year old grandson says that this is a gross over estimation.
          .
If you cannot count right, how can you write right?

            Edwin,
Please go easy on Champa. She is currently undergoing an identity crisis. She used to cohabit with one Weerawansa, (who she said had lovely cat’s eyes) ,but ditched him for Mahinda and his moustache. Now she’s discovered that the moustache is all he’s got, beig over 70.

      Champa,
“I must place on record, Mahinda IS NOT PARTY to this conspiracy”
Mahinda is professionally a lawyer who was in politics in many years and he is not innocent. It is not a secret that Mahinda even after serving President of Sri Lanka he wants to be in power forever. That is why he made 18th amendment even though he promised to all up us that he will get rid of executive Presidency. His greediness to power is no secret and his misuse of power during his period including the murder of Lasantha etc. happened with the full knowledge and his approval. Don’t make fool others that he is not part of the conspiracy. He is the main part of this conspiracy. I think he must have threatened to Kill Sirisena to do this.

If Mr Ranil W did not challenge the appointment of Mr Rajapaksha stating that he has the majority no one has the right to intervene. On legal grounds in 2015 , there was no 19th amendment..

It will be much better if Sirisena resigns his post as President of SL and make Ranil/Karu as temporary President of SL before the Parliament reconvenes on 5-11-2018. Let us have the Presidential Election first.

Good lesson to MS&MR. Let this issue be resolved in the parliament on Nov. 05. Both GR and BR have disappeared after MR’s power grab. GR gave a short interview after the transformation and BR was seen during the oath taking ceremony not thereafter. Hopefully these two people are not up to something criminal. There is talk that Greek Bond Cabrall is going to back at the CB and together with pump and dump guys.

If MaRa has to sit on the PMs chair when Parliament meets on the 05th,since his appointment as PM IS GAZETTED where would the actual DeFacto PM-Ranil.W sit? Can there be two PMs in Parliament at the same time, even if it is only for a few hours? President will go down in History as the man who put the spanner in the works !
I wonder what ingredients went into the Hoppers that was served on that fateful day in 2015!
