It is unfortunate that revered Buddhist monks and religious teachers of all religions do not realize that their righteous thinking does not match with political agendas of politicians or with human society at large. That is why there is political confusion and crime in this country. Religious leaders or their ideas which may not be practicable in reality are used by politicians to carry forward their political agendas. This is what has happened to this abolishing executive Presidency theory put forward by the Ven: Sobitha Thero without understanding the political reality in this country. There is no point in having satyagrahas as religious leaders are completely at a far distance from the political reality.

If there were few more Buddhist priest like rev. Sobitha Sri Lanka would have been a better place.

All spineless and gutless men who call them selves Sinhalese Buddhist should take example from Rev. Sobitha.

We as Sinhalese Buddhist are only interested in saving our asses and don’t give a damn about the next person. We can not build a nation with such chicklings around. We have to stand up for what we believe in. We have to stand up for the truth. We have to stand up for Buddhism.

We salute you Rev. Sobitha Thero. Your commitment to good governance is limitless and we admire you for it. I wish there are many more priests of your calibre then Sri Lanka would be a great country. You have stood for the reduction of the powers of the executive for a long period and you are the main architect of the yahapalanaya concept. You stand for your principles without seeking favours from anyone. We are with you and I hope 19th amendment would be passed.May you be blessed

Ven. Sobhitha Thera, though involved in politics, he is of a different
character. We have heard of Buddha Rakitha Thera, Ghanasera Thera and
many other leading Buddhist priests, who are for destruction of other religions while they promote Buddhism but the Ven.Sobhitha Thera wants all religions to flourish and all communities to live in peace while Buddhism remains the main religion of the country. He has Ghandian principles and wish him luck with his Satyagraha to get all the political parties to unite to vote for better legislations for the prosperity of the country. The country will be better of if there are
    more of sibitha Theras.

Namaste,Ven.Sobitha thera. From day one you stood for this legislation
and you fought hard for it, even threatening to perform “Sathyagraha’ to ensure that every parliamentarian vote for it and they obliged and your gracious succeeded. Sure, your gracious also know that everyone who voted are not genuine and this could be a conspiracy, not known the the general public. Hon. Minister of Ports, Arjuna Ranathunga too warned the PM & the President that a coup of some form is in the offing
and your able assistance is required to get the nominations given to
deserving candidates, who could deviate from the path of communalism and work for unity of all communities and march forward to prosperity in months and years to come. The President has an enormous task in choosing the right candidates for the forth coming elections as he cannot accommodate all who voted for this legislation and your input will be of great help to get the correct ones to contest.

The Rajapaksas are plotting and planning to overthrow MS in the very near future through pure thuggery. Therefore they need the Executive powers to remain with the President, hoping MR can once again be in power. So the 19th will be scuttled by forces in the SLFP favouring MR. The likely scenario will be the 19th will not be passed on the 28th and the govt will be dissolved. For the 1st of May a massive rally will be organised by the MR supporters to convince the masses that the country once again is behind MR, before they unleash mayhem to unseat MS thereafter. All their plans will go up in smoke once the corrupt are remanded and served indictments. The coming General Election will seal the fate of the Rajapaksas.

It is reported how one of Namal Rajapaksa’s security officers with a weapon have attempted to get close to President MS. In the first place when President’s security is around, not even PM’s security is permitted to carry fire arms when the President is present. Looks like Maharaja is planning to rid MS like how he rid Lasantha W, Sivaram, Raviraj, Bahratha Luxman and a host of others. MS should take precautions by sacking security personnel loyal to MR from his Security outfits. MS was lucky last time to escape, when MR sent an LTTE suicide bomber to MS, like how MR send one to Jeyaraj Fernandopulle.

Rev.Sobitha has the credibility to gather the crowds and forces to defeat corrupt elements in the country. Please follow the Anna Hasare in India as well as courage and determination demonstrated by Kwandark himi in Vietnam against Americans otherwise anti-revolutionary forces and murderous gangs will end the progressive government and will make blood bath in the country near future. Don’t give any chance to Rajapaksas and lock them up within the democratic process sooner than later. Delay will bring the unexpected death and destruction for justice as well as large number of youths.

I don’t think he is Venerable. He is just a Cheevaradhari.

In order to be venerable, he should reject all material things.

Politics is about power – material things.

He can help people without being political.

    Politics will never be fair.

Why do you think Rev. Sobitha is able to stand up for what he believes in? Is it not because he has no material expectations? Why did Jesus Christ stand against the jews?

If one were interested in his own personal interests then he won’t be standing up for what’s right, rather he will be busy politicking and save his skin at the expense of everyone else.

Venerable Maduluwawe Sobitha Thero is one Buddhist Monk that Sri Lankans of all communities can love and admire. He is one guy in a yellow robe who is sensible and has an intellect. Most of the other “erudite scholars” who have studied Sanskrit, Pali, Mahavamsa and Buddhism and preach to others are just pretenders.

This is the main Sobitha, who forced the poor rural Buddhist Sinhala inhabitants to receive National Justice from the unelected PM Ranil, who has spent his whole life working for the Elite, Anglicans, Vellas and the West.

Of course now he has the Wahabis on his side too, lead by Bathudeen who dispensed national justice in buck loads, not only to the Sinhala Buddhists but also the Tamils.

Apparently now Sobitha is on limited Sathyagraha for 48 hours to help the UPM..

It would have been better if he went on a fast too , to shed some calories from extra gourmet Alms from the Elite in Colombo.

Wonder whether Hakeem and Sally drop in too with the unelected PM to get a Pirith Nula.

BTW, our unelected PM was reoprted in local media saying that he is going to sweep the Rajapaksa off the face of the Planet.

This is a bit worrying, because Ranil swept the wholw SL Military Intelligence unit from the face of the Earth on his watch last time.

Wonder whether Venerable Sobitha can put in a word to show some mercy.

After all Rajapaksa at least helped our hundreds of thousands devotees from the South to visit Buddha’s first place of arrival Nagadeepa.

    Rev Sobitha

Thank you once again but your job is not over. You have to push this government harder to get the crooks, murderers and drug dealers in. I think as you said we should go even for 200 days if we can deliver justice on these rogues. MR is going around to temples as if he is a Thottha Baba saying that this govt is taking revenge. It is not taking revenge, but we want justice. You must now not this govt sleep with the passing of 19 A. I am wondering whether they cut deals to get 215 votes, but please Rev Sir ensure that justice is done to these rogues. Also every cent they stole must come back to the coffers. For the present I would like to know what are they doing with the Air Lanka report.

    Wish you a long life
