By Colombo Telegraph –
Continuing its undeclared war on media Sri Lanka’s government of President Mahinda Rajapkasa on Friday blocked the Colombo Telegraph in Sri Lanka, further depriving the people’s right to information.
Our readers in Colombo said that they are unable to retrieve the Colombo Telegraph since Friday evening. We vehemently condemn the government’s move to block our website in Colombo. We urge our readers to use proxies, such as www.ninjaproxy.ca/ to view our website for independent and impartial news, news features and opinion.
We kindly request our readers and well-wishers to spread this news and help educating your friends how to use proxy sites.

The Colombo Telegraph is one of the few remaining sources to learn the truth so of course the government has block it!!! you can still however access it through a proxy service like http://www.ninjacloak.com just type their web address (which is http://www.colombotelepraph.com) in the box. Please pass the word for only the truth that set us free
Please post on your FB page and use all other means available to inform readers in Sri Lanka that they can still access the Colombo Telegraph through a proxy service

I have been posting comments in Sri Lanka throughout last friday. For few hours though there appeared to have some difficulities to access the website. All became normal thereafter. I have experienced this even for ‘lankaweb’ at times.

Tsunamiskera has been done out of a new challenge with CT being “unblocked.”
This is but part of the harassment that anyone displaying more than two brain cells is going to continue to be subject to.
All hail our Chief of Chiefs and his brother, his other brother, his other, other brother, his other, other, other brother and his sons and his nephews and his cousins….. unto the Nth generation!
What a bunch of illiterate buffoons to rule even a country of idiots such as Sri Lanka!

Please educate the readers to get into it through proxy sites.Rajapakshas are doing every thing to stop masses knowing the truth. It was sad to see yesterday when Thilanga Sumathipala claimid that there is no law in this country. His contribution to chase CJ by bringing three wheeler parade has not given him any additional mileage against Jayantha Darmadasa. This is called DITTA DAMMA ANUVEDANIYA KAMMA.
/
Matilda Ellepola / March 30, 2013
Not only that, Bookie Sumi as the MARA calls Thilanga was the contractor to organise those 500Rs + Lunch Packets + bottle of Kasippu goons to insult the CJ with filth as well as to beat those protestors who was against the impeachment.
It is a shame that this Bookiepala’s brother is the president of the All Ceylong Buddhist Association and its hight time the Balu Sena do something on this as well.

/
Dhaksha / March 30, 2013
You want to block information and keep the people in ignorance, you will block any media that offers them access to such information. Shame on this dictatorship. First the journalists were silenced, now they want to shut down a wonderful source for Sri Lankan news like the Colombo Telegraph.
Perhaps the big Goat got mad because his silly article got the response he did not like here.
He cannot take a few home truths.
How about clamping down on the BBS, Rajapaksa’s? Sri Lanka as we know it is no more
/
Lester / March 30, 2013
You are the one who believes its okay for women to walk around covered in bedsheets. Don’t talk about ignorance to others. I believe in total freedom of information. Including the right to draw cartoons. :)
/
Dhaksha / March 30, 2013
A woman has every right to wear whatever she wishes.
An Israeli apologist and Islamaphobe has no brains nor intelligence, is not smart enough to think rationally nor without prejudice. It is a empty vessel being used to promote hate in this blogs.
It stinks like the BBS.
/
Lester / March 30, 2013
True – a woman has every right to wear what she wants. That is why most women choose not to wear veils. The others do it because they have been brainwashed or forced.
/
Riza / March 30, 2013
I rather like people to wear bedsheets than pimping women for men to feast their eyes upon.
/
Lester / March 30, 2013
So you are admitting men are wild beasts who cannot control themselves. But that would make women superior to men, which is a total contradiction of Islam.
/
Puncture Venture / March 31, 2013
While idle give an indelibe work on yor rumpled pratlobes, one for Rajapaka, the other for Gotapaka, the centre for BBS.

The road to total dictatorship is being laid slowly but surely. I hope the CT will brave on and beat the blockade by all means possible so that the people in Sri Lanka are kept informed of the shenanigans of the politicians and the government. This desperate act of the Rajapaksa regime shows how insecure and paranoid it has become.
Long live Colombo Telegraph.
/
Nadheem / March 30, 2013
Dont think it is blocked, i think it was just a glitch in the network, Colombo Telegraph is the only news worth reading since everything else is just fiction!
/
Rajasingham Jayadevan / March 30, 2013

You must go further from just speculating it is a glitch in the network. Let us wait see whether it is a ‘glitch’ or something of a LTTE syndrome to ban or manipulate the free media.
/
Waran Vaithilingam / March 30, 2013
CT will not make such a statement if its just a glitch.

Long life CT and its regular contributors. We will truly miss you if you go.

Honest journalism is like water….it always finds a way! What is important is for the rest of us to keep faith. Nothing achieved by deceit, violence or compulsion lasts. Every single faith worth preaching states this in no uncertain terms.
We should be vary of persons who do not believe or practice any of these faiths but claim to be protectors thereof.
Being aware of one’s ignorance can be a great source of motivation. Unfortunately being unaware of the extent of one’s ignorance can be very damaging to the rest of us!

Do the Rajapakses have the intellectual depth to understand the high values attached to the Freedom of Speech and expression. When that lay preacher threatened to burn the Holy Quaran in Southern USA President
Obama regretted, even as the head of the mightiest nation on earth, he cannot interfere in the right of free expression even to that maniacal individual. Obama suggested only friendly persuasion and public opinion can change him. In countries believing in medieval beliefs the man would have been brought to his knees by the Sword. It is time those men/women who read books and journals in the inner circle of the Rajapakses present a viewing of the old movie “Cromwell” – where I believe the legendary Richard Harris played the main role – that will provide an inkling of the premium educated and civilised society attaches to the right of freedom of expression and thought.

Foreigner / March 30, 2013
Probably they put a DNS block against it, If it was a network fault, or block at the network level, then it will be broken for foreigners (and proxy services) too.
The DNS or Domain Name Servers translate names such as https://www.colombotelegraph.com to addresses such as 62.102.150.145, and each internet provider runs their own.
A common way for a Government to block websites is to require the ISP to remove the address from their DNS server, or create a fake entry that is addressed to nowhere.
if you can’t get there by name, use this number: 62.102.150.145
ie. http://62.102.150.145/
To avoid future DNS blocks you can change your computer settings to use the google public DNS at 8.8.8.8 or other dns servers outside the reach of the Government.
/
U_Talk / March 30, 2013
Foreigner, sterling stuff. Can you tell us the ISP of another banned site lanka enews to access by No, or how do we get at that No. of all other banned sites. Thanks.
/
srilal / April 1, 2013
One easy method to find the desired IP address of a particular site is
1) go to command prompt (start-> run -> type ” cmd ” )
2 )type ” ping ” and the name of the web site ex https://www.colombotelegraph.com
/

Good work Rajapaksas :)
Also, make it compulsory for every non-Buddhist SL citizen to convert to Buddhism by law else they can die here or leave the country like the stupid Tamils. This is a Singhalese country and there is no place for anyone else.

Only if Rajapakses want to challenge.

Dear CT Editors and fellow readers,
please refrain from publishing the names of the proxy sites , as this will enable allege perpetrators to block that particular proxy site as well (it’s a matter of adding another access list on the fire fall ).
PS : it’s impossible to completely block any site in SL .

I am not surprised! I was always wondering why colombo telegraph was not blocked because of putting the truth out in the open for everyone without any fear. Let’s face it! This government has either kidnapped or done something to everyone who went against it. Blocking CT was a very very unfair and stupid movement of the government.
Let’s hope for a better SL for everyone where there will be democracy in practice.
Thanks Colombo Telegraph for the great service you’ve been doing. I will always somehow find a way to have access to this website.
