Sri Lanka College Of Obstetricians And Gynecologists: Covering The Fallopian Tubes With A Thousand Rupee Note

By Grusha Andrews

First thing first.

I have no intention of white washing the infamous Dr Shafi Siyabdeen who has allegedly caused unconsented infertility in 4000 mothers. Whatever the truth of that allegation may be, it is obvious that Dr Shafi was involved in a money laundering exercise which would put a final nail on his professional life for sure.

Dr Shafi Siyabdeen

However, alternatively, in this weird country it won’t be a huge surprise if Dr Shafi was resurrected from the death of his profession and was made Governor of the Eastern Province tomorrow, or something.

But that is not the real issue here.

It is now ten days since a guy with a dead political life ignited the whole Sri Lankan society with Islamophobia targeting an allegation surrounding Dr Shafi. As I suggested previously we must not even mention the name of that putrid professor for Rajarata University who is trying to give oxygen to his dying political potential by igniting racism. By his own admission he and others have known of this atrocity for quite the while and waited for the opportune moment for themselves to “reveal“ it.

Gynecologist Cats That Sh*t On The Infertility Rock

It is questionable how an entire fraternity of Obstetricians and Gynecologists are maintaining an official silence (excluding one or two sporadic personal statements on Facebook by expatriate, retired Gynecologists) regarding this professional crisis that is eroding the trust of the public in the entire medical profession. The magnitude of this destruction is of a national scale. They are behaving pretty much like the cat that defecated on a rock and is unable to cover it up with sand.

Sri Lanka College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (SLCOG) is the apex professional body for its specialty. It is also the only official body that lays down clinical guidelines, norms, guidelines for patient safety, facilitate post graduate education and is committed to maintaining the good name and the highest professional standards of the discipline. It is the foremost and the un-challengeable organization that stands for the discipline of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Sri Lanka.

When a super serious allegation is made against Dr Shafi that he made 400 mothers infertile without consent whilst under the supervision of a Consultant Gynecologist leading to a national uproar and calamity, the SLCOG is maintaining meek silence as if gone deaf and dumb. What they should have done is to immediately offer their technical expertise to the Ministry of Health without even waiting for a request. They should have immediately engaged with the post Easter Sunday Sri Lankan society still in uncertainty and shock to alleviate their hysterical reaction to this allegation. They should have issued a professional statement to control the escalation.

Instead what happened?

What happened was that a member of the council of SLCOG called Professor Hemantha Dodampahala issued a statement that women can be made infertile by pressing the Fallopian tubes with an instrument during the Caesarian Section. Theoretically it is plausible that if any live tissue, blood vessel or tube, when compressed with a surgical instrument for an hour or two will obviously lose its vitality and die. You don’t need a professor to spread that two bit theory. A child knows that.

By this logic, if a patient undergoing a surgery today in their abdominal cavity, perineal cavity of any other organ dies tomorrow, the relatives can complain that this was due to the compressing of an organ by the surgeon. From tomorrow it would be impossible for a patient to die without the doctor being implicated with murder. Tomorrow if a Muslim patient dies after being treated by a Sinhala doctor, his Muslim relatives can make the same allegation.

What Dodampahala is raping is the very nobility of the medical profession. Its humanity and vulnerability.  From tomorrow it might be impossible for a patient to die. Dodampahala has taught the public the theory of keeping the knife to the throat of the doctors.

Does The Sri Lanka College of Obstetricians And Gynecologist Have Morals?

Dodampahala and all other Gynecologists who came of Hiru and Derana TV wagging surgical instruments and instilling mass hysteria and fear are doing so irresponsibly, destroying the trust placed on the medical profession by the public. Do these Gynecologists actually have a moral background to do these things? If you search a little deep on the internet you will find the black marks and the red spots of their histories. You will find out what their political orientations are.

The President of the SLCOG has a huge responsibility to become the professional mediator between the profession and the public. Because Dr Shafi worked under the supervision of a member of the SLCOG. The President of the SLCOG should have taken immediate measures to carry out a confidential internal fact finding about the conduct of the Consultant connected to this situation. He should have come out to the public and shared the needful facts and give the public the confidence that this problem is being tackled at the professional level. He should have been the builder of confidence in the medical profession when it is crumbling in all direction. It was the moral prerogative of the President of the SLCOG.

But does Professor Athula Kaluarachchi have the moral background to do the right thing?

I write below the names of the council of the SLCOG.

Current President – Professor Athula Kaluarachchi

2020 President elect – Dr U.D.P. Rathnasiri.

2018 President – Professor P.S. Wijesinghe

Current secretary – Dr Harsha Atapattu

Other council members: Doctors Ruwan Silva, Madura Jayawardhane, Sanath Lanerolle, Chandana Jayasundare, Mangala Dissanayake, K. Muthunthan, Rukshan Fernandopulle, Janaki Kumarasinghe, Samanthi Premarathne, Professor C Randeniya, Professor Tiran Dian, S.P Akmeemana, Dharshna Abeygunawardene, Prasad Rannulu, Dammika Silva, Sudath Senaratne, H.M.J.N. Herath, Dinuka Lankeshwara, Sumith Warnasuriya, Nalin Rodriogo, Wasanha Galappaththi, P.H.P.Silva, Professor S.H. Dodampahala, A. Seethambarapillai, – K. P.D. Liyanagama, A.K..P Ranaweera, Chaminda Mathota, Chaminda Kandauda, Professor Jayantha Jayawardana, Lakshman Senanayake and Gamini Perera.

My question is: in this long list of doctors and professors, isn’t there even one person who has a moral awakening in the face of this national and professional disaster?

No Gynecologist, in fact, no doctor of any discipline today can work with pure intention towards the patient due to the deprecation of this noble profession by these individuals. Isn’t there a single person in this council who has the moral courage to oppose it?

Why isn’t s single council member of the SLCOG sanding up to put a stop to the fear psychosis, racism and gray interpretations spread by these opportunists? Why are they not resisting the fear mongering amongst the normal citizens who have no medical education?

This council has actually passed the golden hour where they should have come before the public and sat together to alleviate their fears. At least now they should get over their passivity and stop the betrayal of the noble profession by opportunists by educating the public about the reality of this issue.

At least now they should hold a press conference and correct the misconceptions of society regarding this issue and bring out the unbiased views. If they do not have the knowledge and the ability to do that there is no point of them walking lordly in their colorful robes , promoting themselves, travelling the world and using their status to increase their private practice. They are not worthy of their empty opulence.

Will they protect their colleague, the Consultant Gynecologist at the Kurunegala hospital? Will they ascertain allegations? Will they come out with their professional opinion? Wil they alleviate the “doctor phobia” among the public?

The SLCOG is childishly attempting to cover the Fallopian tubes of the entire nation with a thousand rupee note. They are a bunch of jokers like the naked emperor. The reason that these professionals cannot do their professional duty by the nation is that many of them have dark pasts behind their opulent lives. I will not touch upon those in this article. How many have got here and remain here is a topic for another article.

Reality Of The Obstetricians And Gynecologists In Sri Lanka.

The government circulars clearly state that a Senior House Officer (SHO) such as Dr Shafi cannot operate on patients without the supervision of the Consultant. But the reality of Sri Lanka is that the Consultants are somewhat scared of the SHO (Not all). The intern house officers and the post graduate trainees (Registrars) come and go. It is the SHO who is the constant id the Consultant’s life. So even the interns and the Registrars are scared of the SHO. Because the Consultants usually look to maintain the good relationship with the SHO.

Whilst the Consultant it doing private channeling it is the SHO that gives him the time and peace to do so. Therefore many Consultants don’t impose too many regulations on the SHO. Whether they come to work or not his monthly diary is signed. His full 120 hours of overtime payment is recommended and forwarded by the Consultant. Even if the SHO comes to work in the morning or not he releases the Consultant at night for channeling. So many Consultants don’t actively look for their SHO in the morning (again, not all are like this).

During the times when Registrars are not available, the SHOs carry the burden of the units. Many consultants who work away from Colombo and main cities appointed to places such as Kurunegala, Jaffna, Dambulla etc, suffer from a peculiar “Tuesday to Thursday Syndrome”. They leave their station on Thursday and return only on Tuesday. These are all illegal “leave” that the Consultants avail. It is the SHOs who cover up the Consultant’s absence.

Some Consultants get all the slave labor from the SHO such as getting his cars serviced, getting the tyres changed, going boozing, and going to clean the school of the Consultant’s children etc. Look closely in to the conduct, not only of Gynecologists, but also of Consultants of other specialties. How many days a week do they come to work?  If they do come to work, how many hours do they work? Are they in their stations even on the days they are night on call? Are they sometimes not in Yala and Wilpattu? Are they not leaving their units at the mercy of the SHO and off doing their unending recreation- photography, tiger watching and lion watching in Arica, holidaying, building holiday bungalows, building temples, running medical supplies companies, appearing on TV, singing, preaching Buddhism). Whilst they are up to these Shenanigans, it is the SHO who covers up for their physical absence.

Therefore this symbiotic relationship between the Consultant and the SHO is made with money, power, and a “special bond” .This “human relationship“ is beautiful and can’t go wrong till the SHO gets in to hot waters like Dr Shafi. When things go wrong the Consultant, just like the Gynecologist in Teaching Hospital Kurunegala is not to be found.  He will not step up to take the legal, professional and moral responsibility and show their decency. The SLCOG also does not have such decency.

How was a Shafi created?

If Dr Shafi was up to this atrocity, you must try to understand how such a powerful creature is created.

That power did not come to him because he was Muslim, political, cunning .That power came to him because the real criminal behind this crime, the supervising consultant who has the legal responsibility towards these alleged atrocity gave Dr Shafi the omnipotence to do that.

Those mothers who are creating drama on the streets of Kurunegala demanding the blood of Dr Shafi, asking that he be hanged, demanding compensation from the government should ask where the supervising Consultant who was responsible for monitoring his junior was, till this alleged ethnic cleansing happened.

If Dr Shafi is equal to a murderer, who is his supervising Consultant equal to?

The supervising Consultant of Kurunnegala Teaching Hospital who birthed, fed, petted, gave the scalpel to Dr Shafi for his own convenience and then looked away is equal to one person. He is equal to the President of our country who knew about the Easter Sunday attack, yet looked away, went to Thirupathi and then went to Singapore. This Consultant is equal to our President who knew but did nothing.

Gentlemen (and the few ladies) of the council of the SLCOG,

Reveal the truth about the Fallopian tubes of the nation that you are currently covering with a thousand rupee note. At least now cover your professional nakedness with the cloth of ethics.

You are being unmasked.

Stop your self-gratification and do a self- analysis.

Do your professional duty.

Come forward as the Sri Lanka College of Obstetricians and gynecologists and reveal the truth to the nation and alleviate this mass hysteria.

Both Sinhalese and Muslims are at fault for the current situation but i place most blame on Sinhalese. Muslims indeed had expansionist ideas and allowed wahabbi culture to spread on the island and did nothing to stop it. However Sinhalese have a long history of attacking minorities when they prosper. It comes from deep seated envy and insecurity. They targetted the tamils like this (and muslims betrayed tamils and helped sinhalese when this happened). Now they are turning against muslims. Muslims were violently attacked many times after the war ended in 2009 before we saw the first Islamic terror attack in 2019. If anything the easter bombings now give Sinhala supremacists a perfect excuse to play the victim. They did this with the tamils. Kept attacking until tamils retaliated with the LTTE. Then suddenly Sinhalese cry to the world that they are victims of terrorism. Also notice how Sinhalese are now openly showing ‘love’ for India and Modi. This is purely a ploy to get Indian support to destroy muslims. Earlier when Tamils were attacked, they showed hatred for India and claimed Pakistan is their friend. Its a very cunning ploy from them but there is a thing called karma and you cant get away with it forever. I see massive destruction and collapse coming to Sri Lanka in the coming days. Not only via conflict with muslims, but the island will become a theater for world war 3. As you have China, India and the USA jostling for control.

I an a Sinhalese, but not a proud one! Sinhalese are a lazy lot, always asking government to do this and that, like a spoilt child that has become a parasite to parents and in the end destroy the parents and himself.
Seeking government jobs with pension, and do almost nothing after getting the job.

You are perhaps describing yourself and without any doubt you lack character and confidence in yourself. I am a sinhalese too. I have achieved everything on my own. I have had the fortune of having parents who were professionals, never depended on the government. I got scholarships to study overseas from good SATS and GMAT. Please don’t judge others by your own limitations.

I have an alternative explanation. When Tamil narco terrorists and human smugglers tried to carve up a part of the island under a spurious claim, the Sinhalese opposed this nefarious group and defeated them in 2009. the same is happening to Muslims.

So you took the advantage at that time and slowly vanished to where you are today? from the way you talk, you have been waiting for this type of massacre to see how the people face the same drama that happened some years ago. The Bible says to be true unto thy selves so you know that what you’re talking is not true, so please be mindful when you utter words, it shows your hatred towards another ethnic group. nobody will be here forever for this is just a short time we spend somewhere. so please at least try to be happy with what you get at where you are, be grateful to that nation at least. good luck!

why the relevance of the below becomes important by the day …

This is what the 16th Century British traveler Robert Knox who spent 20 log years in Sri lanka has to say about the Cingulaya in his book —
“For they make no account nor conscience of lying, neither is it any shame or disgrace to them, if they be watched in telling lies: it is so customary.
In their Promises very unfaithful, approving lying in themselves, but misliking it in others;”
Has the Cingalaya changed in the last 380 years, or is it still the same, by the looks of it, seems this is genetic and not something new. they simply cannot stand anyone else getting better than them, so they will try all the dirty tricks to pull them down, but what they don’t realise is that they shooting themselves in the foot.
and this is second quote from the Robert knox book–
“the Cingalese are a cunning lot who mistake the low-level cunning they possess to be a high level of Intelligence,”
Events that has happened in the country in the last 100 years has proved that every word he wrote is nothing but the truth.
Lying has become a trademark of the Cingulaya

If you use Knox as a source bear in mind that he just does not say bad things about the Sinhalese. In some ways he is favourable. Knox is very contradictory and said good things of the Chingulays too : “of all the vices they are the least addicted to stealing, the which they do exceedingly hate and abhor so there are but few robberies committed among them”.
he also said; “I know no people in the world do so exactly resemble Chingulays as the people of Europe”

First of all, people who are making derogatory comments here can be malicious foreign spies under various names. Sinhalese Buddhists have been on their hit list for long period because of small population and Sri lanka is the only country they have.
I am straight forwardly talking about Jews. They never dream of carrying out malicious attack on Tamil or Indian, then, they going to miss the game.
Every insult carried out here by Tamil or Singhalese spies come from Jews. When Jews type an insulting comment here can obviously understand that.Jews never type this much hate against Muslim:. When they want hate against Muslim, all they use is somebody else like Western news papers.
Jews knows well that they never survive in Israel without support of Western countries.
We need to tell the world immediately especially in US and Europe that Jewish threat against Sri lanka is real and Sri lanka has to work on it by increase Sinhalese population not only Sri lanka , but in other parts of the world before historical hegemony of Jews find fault on Sri lanka.
And if We ask Jews to keep off Sri lanka, Jews will never listen. Therefore, we need to get together with American and European public to solve this problem more peacefully. Originally, Sri lankan did a mistake by being against US and Europe which gave victory to Jews and Tiger supporters.
About two weeks ago, there was tragic incident took place in the Cache county in the state of Utah. It is about little girls kidnapped by drug addicted uncle and killed her.
Surprisingly,. this took place only about one or two days after I made a comment on this site or on another SL site about “Unsafe US children by their own family members.” At first I felt right way that has to be “somebody’s work” “It cannot be a coincident.”

I wonder if the doctor concerned was a Sinhala Buddhist and the allegation came from Tamils or Muslims, what would have been the reaction of GMOA and SLCOG.

    • 2

This may not be about an individual doctor but about a conspiracy to reduce the number of Sinhalese babies in the country with the long term aim of making Muslims the majority. Since the women were unwilling victims, the scoundrel and his accomplices should be punished.

For all those so called upstanding and self – righteous citizens of Lanka, let be update you with morality and work ethics of our Lankan Doctors. A well known professor treated an infant years ago for respiratory/lung infection and turns out it was ear infection and after almost a week or so the infection spread to brain (meningitis) and the child ended up with severely damaged brain and sadly lived on for another 10 years needing 24 hour care. I believe the parents sued and won compensation (but no disciplinary actions, professor went on complete her service and retired) which was the first in Lankan history. My own father was treated for significant memory and cognitive impairment , which was diagnosed as age related and treated for almost 10 years and turns out he had a reversible cause (known as NPH) which could have been easily detected by asking few questions (related urinary incontinence and imbalance while walking/standing) and a scan , if treated appropriate would have assured a good quality of life during those years. Recently mom of my friend who I had visited while in ICU, Lanka Hospital with Respiratory infection recovered well and was about to be transferred to regular room next day , died overnight due to aspiration, because regular suction of mouth and throat (ordered by Doc) was neglected by staff, because they were busy with x-mas eve celebrations. (to be continued).

I made an appoitment see a Consultant Cardiologist, and got the number 23. This doctor would arrive at the Hospital after seeing 10 others, so in fact I would be the 33rd, and the time would be about 11pm. Now I thought for a moment what is condition of this Doctor who would have done 8 hours in his substantive post, to diagnose and treat and emerge at 11 pm? I cancelled the appointment and got back my Rs 1500, but the Hospital sharks kept Rs 500 for nothing.

Now let us look at the ethics and morality of this business ? The Doctor has substantive position in Govt, enjoying all the perks like duty free cars, pension etc., yet he can literally negelct his duty by overworking himself outside his main employment. How many Govt employees can do this with impunity ? Can a Policeman work for Security Co ? Teachers are similarly abrogating their responsbility by indulging in unbridled after hours Tution.

A Govt Dr told that in Govt Hospitals it is not medical treatment but crowd control. They see 40 patients in a morning rapid fire. Let someone wake-up and determine that no Govt Dr in parctice can see more than 10 patients in an evening.

Wahabis want to make Sri Lanka a Islamic country in the long run. For that any method can be used. One way may be fallopian tubes pressing. They may used even chemicals in traces at c-section to sterilize women. Hanging on to pressing fallopian tubes will be our foolishness.

Last but the worst. My cousin,s husband was diagnosed with early stage of renal(kidney) cancer and consulted a the famous onco surgeon in town,(there are very few in this super speciality) who gave her a lecture on Buddhism and materialism, when she pleaded to have the surgery in a private hospital for better care, he insisted and did it in Maharagama Govt hospital. My assumption is financial returns are much more for operating surgeon , when overheads are less, because the private hospital will take chunk out of returns. Current standard practice is to remove the whole affected kidney there by avoiding, any kind of after surgery risks, and patient will still have a healthy unaffected kidney to live a normal life. But this guy went against the second opinions of his juniors ( because of his F – – – – N EGO) , ended up removing partial kidney (nephrectomy) .A week after surgery patient gradually developed lethargy, breathlessness , turned pale and eventually fainted. He was readmitted and was in hospital for more than 48 HOURS, just connected to I/V Saline, no doctors checked on him and the operating surgeon never showed up and patient died of bleeding from surgical site. He was left to die.All it takes is to give him blood and stabilize and if needed reopen and stop the bleeding. So please dont talk about SLMC, GMOA and other BS when the whole country and people are immoral. If the accused doctor had unaccounted money then most of businessmen and doctors do have the same. If he was arrested for unethical procedures then how do we address these Dr. Kills. Get over your silly excuses and denial because the next victim may well be you or some one you know. Please note before commenting these cases are personally known to me and their cases are supported by.documents. Most government doctors are in private practice than at work place. They are the members of so called SLMC/GMOA–etc.

Clearly the writer is an expert in obstetrics and gynaecology. Honestly! When political myopia gets translated to those with the power of the pen, it truly is a colossal tragedy. The politics of our country has taken the pain and dashed hopes of these mothers and fathers, spat in their faces and kicked them in the shins instead of investigating what the hell is going on. When you are poor, and depend on govt services, you are invisible. But let’s continue to minimize women and belittle their pain by painting them with the jagged, warped bristles of the same political brush.

      3

It is very surprising that the writer, a woman, should be so supportive of a man who , regardless of his ethnicity, committed a clear abuse which would be a criminal act. If you add the ethnic angle to it, it becomes a hate crime.

Covering The Fallopian Tubes With A Thousand Rupee Note

Fallopian tubes either of a pair of tubes along which eggs travel from the ovaries to the uterus.

*** Can you enlighten us on whether the Thousand Rupee note was used to cover Muslim Fallopian Tubes (Under Sharia Law) or Sinhala Fallopian Tubes ( Under BBS Law) . I know there are no Tamils in that part of the World. so they couldnt have benefitted There could be a mass exodus of Women from all over the World. It could be a lucrative business second to none after the decimation of Tourist Industry.

Most medical officers in Sri Lanka seem to conduct themselves like gifts from god, when they swagger along hospital corridors, with poor peasants deferring to them on bent knees, supplicating them to save their beloved relatives.

However, since they too are human, they make mistakes, regularly lethal ones for the patients. However, do they ever come out and accept blame or admit their mistakes? NEVER!

In that context, Shafi is also being protected by those who want protection from exposure themselves, shady deals, private practice while being on duty etc notwithstanding. That is what is strange and should be corrected in Sri Lanka. This exceptionalism on the part of doctors’ attitude is devastating to the general public.

It is a different ball-game here. It is simply not a mistake – it is a deliberate attempt aiming at making the Sinhalese race extinct- that stands out as a crime !

This may well not be the first incident – it may also well not be the first guy(Shaffi) who is carrying out this malicious act . This may be a network spanning over many decades – it is unfortunate or fortunate that this guy became the first to get caught ! This is what we call radical Islam motives ! It is rampant all over not just in our neck of the woods. This is a long term strategy launched to breed more Muslim. It is not a medical mistake – if you suggest so – you should check into the nearest mental facility ,

  • 0
    0

Wait a second- you guys are rampant all over : The Muslim guy(SHAFFI) who performed all these surgeries is not a qualified and not titled Gynecologist .

Do you you guys get this into your head before slamming out the public perception of the profession . Well it is said he was under supervision by qualified Obstetricians- how that supervision if any was under is yet to establish – but it is something that needs correction in this articles as it alludes as if the guy 0 SHAFFI was qualified to do this job – of course not he was just a MBBS guy !

That the author of this article is driven to comment so harshly, is a matter for sorrow. To further blame and slander as did many of the comments, unfortunately paints with a broad brush, damning all doctors, for the black sheep (as in any other vocation) , is patently unfair. There are many doctors who are very decent, caring, and competent. I do believe however, that no doctor has ever “saved a life”, they may have “postponed a death”. Everyone has had at least one occasion when doctors erred or failed in their duty, My own father died at 65 years, and far too early, Medical negligence was very evident. In contrast, a doctor – in spite of it not being his ward, did all he could, tirelessly, being by the patient’s bedside, right up to the end (some five hours) and then fetched my mother, in his own car from our home five miles away . I recall this incident in some detail – because the doctor concerned was none other than Dr. Brian Seneviratne – who is an ardent supporter of the LTTE. For this, he invited much ire (including my own) for succumbing to the highly biassed views of extremists. But I stray!
I do agree that competent professional doctors must come forward and shed light on this sordid affair. Even more serious, is the allegation that sterility-inducing tablets (Vandha Pethi) have been administered widely to patients, it not being stated whether the victims are male or female. To a non-professional, this seems an unlikely story, but competent medical opinion to endorse (or reject) such a view is sorely needed – lest it be alleged that this is a case of “honour among thieves”.

Upatissa, I am a physician too. What I produced are facts and real cases who are known to me. In my father,s case my sister and me are two physicians but living abroad. We believed we provided the best care possible, only to realize after years, multiple doctors including Neurologist have treated him with out communicating and worse without ordering a scan which is basic test available in that field. With out doing none of this they just kept treating and telling it was age related issues ???. After 10 years a simple scan could only reveal ” fluid shadow” masking the whole brain, because of years of slow accumulation. I for one will always stand up for my profession but that does not mean I will be in denial when some one has done wrong. Today at last, one ex Professor and member of Gyn & Obs came out saying Kurunegala sterilization is highly IMPOSSIBLE (see Daily mirror). Consciously allowing a rumor to spread may not be crime but ethically a sin. My intentions are never to blame the whole fraternity, but I wonder given the number of negligence I am aware, in general , how safe is our health system ???? Upatissa please note I blamed the whole country which is IMMORAL and that includes doctors and the rest.

According to the Director, Kurunegala hospital, this doctor is supposed to have performed 8000 cesarean surgeries. A medical professor has said that compensation must be paid @ 200million each to the victims. Even with this incentive only 600 odd have complained, in 2 hospitals namely Kurunegala & Dambulla.
1.Should it not be investigated to see whether the remaining 7000odd mothers too have lost their fertility or not.
    2. Whether there are no cases, where mothers have become fertile after surgeries done by non muslim doctors.

Ranasi, 200 million is just peanuts for these women. Let Gnanasara to go on a fast for at least 500 million per woman and a free house. Knowing the high standard of living in SL the compensation must keep pace with the progress. May be unproven compliant 200 million and proved one with 500 million and a house. If they have two kids or under then another 250 million for the swamiya for pain of mind. You must make Rathana and Gnanasara to ask the Sinhala women to come out. What are other theros doing? I suggest that we must hang the Muslim doctor without a trial. Because why do we need any trial after Divaina and holy theros have confirmed the crime.

I say Leslie, you claim that you went somewhere and studied, blah….blah… But I don’t see any logic, or sense or direction about what you utter. Had you studied in SL I am sure you would have been better informed. You are only spewing racism and only good at that. You are talking of squeezing the Fallopian tubes, reducing the Sinhala race and even hanging the doctor without any evidence at all. Don’t you agree that you are a foolish person, ill informed and a fanatic. Where did you go and study and what did you study? You are disgracing the Sinhala race and I am very sure that many Sinhalese are not stupid like you but unfortunately they don’t talk, don’t commit and play safe for survival. But on the other hand almost all the criminals and bribe takers, kudu importers and drug addicts are Sinhalese too. Mind you moron there are two types of sinhalas. One do not care for the other. But I know where you come from? Shame on you man. A bit of advice, go and learn and read the basic stuff before you open your gap.

Kapila, if he is not qualified to operate then how was he operating and why did others support his surgeries? Mind you at least 8000 Caesarian surgeries alone. I know of MBBS doctors doing this LRT stuff and male sterilisation surgery everywhere and without any supervision. Also they are paid separately for those surgeries. I know of crooks who collected the money but did not do the surgeries. Now coming to this doctor, then he must have done with supervision. Then why not even a hum about the supervising specialist? Do you think because the boss belongs to majority race he needs protection while this poor guy being a Muslim he could be vilified , arrested, humiliated and insulted. Is this part of the racist act that is so common in SL or really trying to find out that something has really gone wrong? Minority one rule and majority another rule? If that is so then we have no salvation. No government, no justice, no fair play and no logic.

    Grusha Andrews,
I am writing this comment on the long article published in the Colombo Telegraph on the 1st of June 2019 accusing the SLCOG. I am writing this as the oldest living obstetrician in the country, who has been in active service for 50 long years (record) and as the most senior past president and past patron of the SLCOG, and also as past president of the SLMA.
it is useless the members of our profession writing on the technicalities of sterilization, whether it is possible or improbable at the time of caesarian section secretively. We as obstetricians are duty bound to look after the reproductive health and welfare in the women of this country and treat them with tender loving care.
I am only concerned with the accusations made by over 700 women. It is our job to explain to the public in all languages that there is a very simple solution to this accusation. which only we gynecologist perform, and that is to submit the patients too a simple investigation, dye test (HSG), which will reveal on the X-ray whether tubes are patent or not. so it is the job of the government to get this done by our members who are working in various hospitals in the country. As it is a large number, a very large number of gynecologist will have to do this investigation and this record can brought as proof in a court of law. Further if the tubes are blocked patients who are anxious to have another child can be also advised that artificial insemination (IVF) is available in the country for them to have a child which will be quite expensive as in my opinion this facility is not available in the government hospital of our country. therefore it will be the bounden duty of the government to help these women financially to have the treatment. This is what our college has so far not expressed. So I hope you will take the trouble to inform the public of all what i have stated so that they can be at peace.

No way Leslie malli. I am not from LTTE but an honourable sri lankan who has love and concern for the country and for the well being of all the people of SL, who have every right to live as one and only one citizen without racism, or superiority or inferiority. I can just see how you take cover behind LTTE and that is what happens when you are bankrupt. Incidentally when LTTE was there even the sinhalas enjoyed law and order unlike now where only simple chaos left behind.
