The Sri Lankan government’s controversial decision to appoint, as its deputy high commissioner to South Africa, an army general accused of war crimes serves – if nothing else – to highlight that country’s inadequate efforts to consign its recent dismal civil war to history.
Sri Lankan high commissioner Winithkumar Shehan Rantavale confirmed speculation in the Sri Lankan media that General Shavendra Silva’s appointment to Pretoria was “in the pipeline”.

Anything is possible in a Banana Republic where Kangaroo Courts are run by uneducated crooks from a parliament of goons and fools, who seek to impeach the Chief Justice – on the behest of a venal, uneducated and uncultured dictator named Rajapassa and his family of parasites who are looting and burning the nation’s wealth!
Lanka is indeed the miracle of Asia!

I cannot understand why you guys hate Shavendra like generals who helped free Tamils by putting an end to LTTE pistol gangs like the one that shot TULF leader Amirthalingam and the LTTE human bombs like the one that blasted Rajive Gandhi to pieces and all other LTTE terrorists.

Leela,
You are one of a few supporters of this family regime, as can be seen
in these blogs. This regime spends huge amount of money – even in foreign currency – maintaining PR firms like Bell Pottinger.
So the rewards to individuals like you is just peanuts for the regime.
The whole world now realises that LTTE was born out of attrocities by your racist Governments against Tamils, right from independence. This regime was responsible for the killing of innocent civilians under the pretext of fighting the LTTE, with help from 20 odd powerful nations including totalitarian countries- Russia, China Iran, Pakistan etc..
You are simply wasting your time in contributing to this blog.

Tamils were very under LTTE except rogues and traitors. Shavendra silva killed 150,000 Innocent Tamils. EVen today your army with impunity damages teh vehicles of our elected MPs who has to understand you idiotic boot licker or the Tamils

Raja says:
“Shavendra silva killed 150,000 Innocent Tamils.”
Unacceptable in this civilised world, indeed too bad
Do you have an account of the number of Tamil people LTTE had killed over the past 30 odd years?
While Shavendra Silva was killing 150,000 innocent Tamils single handedly what did LTTE do to stop it?
I was led to believe LTTE was the vanguard of the masses. Now it seems not so.
Why did the stupid Tamil people fall for it?

We will all agree to nominate Velupillai Prabakaran as the personality of the year, Nobel peace price 2012, Mother Theresa Award 2013 etc etc.And accept Our President is HE DR Rudrakumaran VSV,WSW.
Shavendra the ruthless Killer one day just woke up like what happened in norway or usual occurring in USA schools armed himself and massacred everybody except the Rajapakses and a few idiots now who are the main contributors to CT comments column.
Come on wake up, dont forget what happened we are not a nation with amnesia. Yes its sad in a war the innocent are the main victims in any place.
Let us each one be a positive effect to the society and leave all backbiting, slandering , killings to the Shavendras, Fonsekas, Janaka peraras, Algamas, Denzil Kobbekaduwa etc etc

You are not even a fully fledged general.
Right Hounarable VP was a Field Marshall, Head of State and his armed forces, National Leader, who had met with many dignitaries at during his reign.
His good offices was sought after by India, the West, ….Premadasa and MR.
His achievements were and are the envi of men world over.
Do you think you can match him. Perhaps in your wildest dream, no chance.

Gone were the days where candidates that were appointed to foreign service were needed to have gone through all kind of exams. Now just having some good relationship – with the rulers – make it easier them to become able to work for diplomatic missions. I dont think anyone was posted inthis way under CBK or other regimes previoulsy. What bothers me most is – the head of the foreign ministry is a professor who once worked for facultry of law of an university – had got the high education on the west – but unlike late Kadirgamar- GL seems to have lost the control over his ministry. Kathawa dolawen gamana payin reminds me when seeing all these. :(

Lakshman was very cannily conceived as FM by CBK (she and mum won power on the sympathy vote) but she had to go.
G.L. “Mischlinge” was a well know Sinhala “fundamentalist” during his days as Professor of Law at Colombo Campus.
Just think: You’ll just be another Sinhalese racist fker pounding his meat in anger and frustration.
On, contrariwise, those responsible for Ceylon’s demise should be shot and dumped into ground accommodations for their crimes.

gamini / November 28, 2012
With all the accusations and vociferous opposition, how some of the Senior Forces personnel as Shavendra get away scot frree is because they were party to the ‘War Drama’ who knows the truth about the war, where some were sacrificed from both sides not as much as exagerated by both sides to end this war. The largest massacre was at the end with the ‘Surrender’. So these people have to be looked after and are helped by the power blocks, the US and India lest they spill the beans. If not they have to be terminated as well to shut them up.

This is very interesting. I also believe that. Gamini, pleaes try to pass this bit more precisely. All we the ones who re weary of ruling idiots – wanted UNO to investigate the final stage of the war against the Ltters and have them punished as the national and international laws impose it. This man Shavendra seems to have zero qualifications for the positions that he is engaged at the moment, but to occupy him in this way is more than suspicious.
