Senior Captain Marlon Perera was also in the cockpit conducting a routine line check on Captain Singh an Indian national. The First Officer was a Sri Lankan national.

Sri Lankan Airlines has had a bad history of aircraft skidding off the runway.

An aircraft commanded by Captain Druvi Perera once skidded off the runway in an Indian airport damaging the runway lights.

      Dear Percy,

That’s all very well. When commenting on that cyber security article by Sara D, you challenged me to prove myself a Sinhalese.

I gave you a more than adequate answer, but there has been no response from you.

It’s now YOUR credibility that is at stake.

Sinhala_Man – “I gave you a more than adequate answer, but there has been no response from you.” Percy is a.k.a. “Rajan Wahab”, “Hora Police”, “Tip-Cut Nana” etc. etc. It appears you missed his response! Please have Mercy on Percy, he needs specialized medical care and attention.

The way things are going in this country, we’ll all be needing medical attention! Percy writes frivolous nonsense as entertainment.

That other article was actually dangerous. One has to be serious about certain matters. I also feel that for something said by me to be given some weight, I have to identify myself.

Are the Sri Lankan airlines planes in good condition to fly ??

It is not that an important aspect for Tamils or Sinhalese the Airbus Planes fly properly. The Hindu Mahabharata is saying that the Pushpaka Vimana (Flower Feathered Plane) which the first Known Ceylon’s King Ravana used to shuttle between India and Ceylon doesn’t break down. When he died it flew back to heaven itself. Then about 2000 years ago a Buddhist Nun named Manimegalai lived in TN, India used to fly to Ceylon spreading her hands in the air and flipping. She has been regularly visiting to preach Buddhism in Ceylon. About 500 years after Manimegalai, Mahanama, a South Indian Bikku, has written down in his Mahavamsa that Buddha used the same techniques fly to Ceylon. Additionally Buddha has been bringing with him thunder and rain storm to control the that time Yakas of Ceylon. So it is not really important for us the Airbus planes work ok for us to fly; after all we don’t make the Airbuses, it is Europeans are making those planes .

Disturbing to say the least. These things are happening too frequently.

Why always point fingers at SriLankan? Cochin airport seems notorious for skidding planes. This has happened due to cross-winds and bad weather, and other news agencies praise the pilots for controlling the situation and not having any injuries.

    CT:

A plane can skid off for many reasons though we can’t trust both Indian runways as well as SL airliners.

Isn’t better to give bad history records once it is confirmed to have links to the past incidents in a news? I don’t think it is the mistake of the pilot in this case as per other news around.

All these Perera boys I think are Thomians. They know how to fly a plane alright. Check what that Indian national was doing inside the pit and you know which pit I am talking about. I just can’t say that name. Those damn Indian airports are also notorious for skidding.

I think this is an Incident and all you Indian guys should not point this as a fault by Sri Lankan air lines. First see and understand the bad whether at that time. Many news papers are talking about passenger safety, but this article about history of flying and air line. Don’t hate Sri Lanka’s safety records and good will. However, both captain and co-pilot taken correct decisions to avoid a disaster. Don’t be silly every time.

You quoting the past, the way you quoted it seems like you have some beef with the airline.

    https://english.manoramaonline.com/news/kerala/2018/05/27/srilankan-airlines-skids-off-runway-cochin.html

you don’t even mention the word crosswind in your article, just outright bashing.
people will start to second guess your sites credibility if the news you publish are biased

No one can say for sure why this incident happend until after an accident investigation to determine the cause of the same.
Some say that it is the fault of the airport as it has windy conditions, that may well be, but what we have findout is why Srilankan is the one having multiple issues there?
Any airport can have weather conditions arising from time to time, but there are instruments to determine the presence of windshear or micro-bursts which is the main reason for accidents. The weather radar can indicate these. Besides the weather conditions are relayed to the flight crew on approach, so it is the decision of the Captain to land or not in weather conditions.
Ultimately the captain would have a lot to explain if he decided to land the plane in bad weather and something went wrong. Safety should be every captains prime or fundamental objective.
