Stop Death Penalty: LAWASIA Tells Sri Lanka And Philippines

LAWASIA notes with deep concern a recent increase in the use of the death penalty for drug related offences, within the Asia Pacific region, which it considers to be a violation of international human rights law and standards.

Rodrigo Duterte and Maithripala Sirisena

LAWASIA takes notice of the Government of Sri Lanka’s recent selection of four persons, who were convicted of drug-related crimes, for imminent execution, and recent reports of the President of the Republic of the Philippines indicating, in his annual State of the Nation address, that he would take steps to re-instate the death penalty for drug-related offences.

LAWASIA find these developments deeply concerning. Both Sri Lanka, which has been abolitionist in practice for 43 years, and the Philippines, which has been abolitionist for 13 years, are obligated under human rights law not to reinstate the death penalty. Such actions would also run counter to the global trend whereby an increasing number of countries are abolishing the death penalty.

LAWASIA’s objectives include the promotion of “the administration of justice, the protection of human rights and the maintenance of the rule of law within the [Asia and the Pacific] Region”. In pursuit of the objectives, in 2018, the LAWASIA Council resolved to “call on governments in the ESCAP region which currently retain the death penalty to review their respective policies on capital punishment.”

LAWASIA notes that Sri Lanka has been a signatory to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, 1966 (ICCPR) since 1980, and the Philippines since 1986, and draws attention to Article 6, Article 7 and Article 26 of the ICCPR; as well as the rights guaranteed by Article 3, Article 5, and Article 9 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, 1948 (UDHR).

LAWASIA notes that the Philippines ratified the Second Optional Protocol to the ICCPR in 2007, under which it is obligated to abolish the death penalty. Under international human rights law, a State that has ratified or acceded to the Second Optional Protocol to the ICCPR, is not permitted to withdraw from it.

LAWASIA also notes that Sri Lanka became a signatory to the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, 1984 (CAT) in 1992, and has been abolitionist in practice since 1976. The Philippines ratified the CAT in 1986.

LAWASIA believes that imposing the death penalty for drug related crimes would violate both countries’ obligations under Article 6(2) of the ICCPR, which holds that the death penalty may only be imposed for the ‘most serious crimes’.

In this regard, LAWASIA supports and adopts the interpretation of human rights law by the UN, as seen in U.N. General Comment No. 36, which states that drug offences can never serve as the basis for the imposition of the death penalty, as also the statement of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, which attests to the unsuitability of imposing the death penalty for drug related crimes.

LAWASIA also draws attention to the lack of transparency in the method by which the four Sri Lankan individuals were selected, amidst hundreds who have been convicted for capital offences, 48 of whom have been convicted on drug related charges. This lack of transparency raises concerns of arbitrariness in the imposition of this sentence, and runs counter to Sri Lanka’s obligations to ensure the right to equality before the law, enshrined in Article 14 of the ICCPR, and to only apply the death penalty in a non-arbitrary manner, under Article 6 of the ICCPR.

LAWASIA urges the government of Sri Lanka to rescind the recent death penalty orders, and to refrain from taking any further steps to reinstitute the death penalty.

LAWASIA also urges the government of the Philippines to desist from taking steps to reinstate the death penalty, whether for drug offences or any other crimes.

LAWASIA calls on the governments of Sri Lanka and the Philippines to ensure that any action taken by the authorities concerned is in due compliance of the country’s legal obligations under international human rights laws and principles.

I don’t know how many killed by Philippine President but our Guy has already killed 254 People including foreigners. Both Presidents has some common similarity. One is professional killer and the other one part time killer. Both are uneducated. Both are targeting drug users but not large scale drug dealers.

LAWASIA should write the US government and UK embassy in Mauritious about the illegal US-UK occupation of the Chagos Islands and the violation of the Rights of Chagos Islands people by the US military Base Diego Garcia, First.

Time to stop this Human Rights hypocracy.

Yes, Lawasia should file a Criminal case against the US Special Operations Forces for staging the Easter Sunday attacks in Sri Lanka and weaponizing religious and ethnic identities to Divide, Distract and set up a US military base in the Island now that US-UK occupation of Chagos Islands have been ruled illegal by the ICJ the UN’s highest court.

What is LawAsia doing to put pressure on US and UK.
Now Brexit High Commissioner, Dauris is following Alina Nitwitz , since the clown Boris trumps puppet took over and visiting Buddhist monks and they both should be asked to stop using religion to Divide and Distract people from US and UK crimes and HR abuses and get out of Lanka!

The “Drug War” and drug epidemic in Sri lanka is part of a global pattern where US Special Forces are operating. Sira’s drug war was set up by US and its partner in crime UAE Dubai, the base of the Drug gang, to distract the STF and SL security establishment from the US-Saudi-IS suicide Easter plot to de-stablize the country and set up military bases here

As in Nicaragua during the Ian Contra affair and Philippines where there is a massive US military base and Special Opeations forces that has set up and uses a Muslim Insurgency, now Sri Lanka is being targeted with Drugs and Economic Terrorism to de-stablize the country and set up US bases and dump garbage from Diego Garcia which is now a Marine Reserve – ha, ha, ha Check this story out:

Now the US Special Forces that own and operate the IS narrative have set off bombs in Bangkok to confuse every one, and make it seem that Pomous Pompeo was the target at the ASEAN security meet.

Trumpland is the biggest rogue state in the world and exporting Economic Terrorism in the name of IS to make America Great again and stop the rise of Asian ecnomies, by attacking multi-religious South and Southeast Asian regions after weaponizing religion. But now everyone knows about this US game and Asia will unite to kick the Americans out before too long..

Buddhists know very well about the non-violence and value the life. Sri lankan people has even forgiven the terrorists who killed whole villages. So, what these NGO kaakkas saying is just non sense. All these Crap NGOs are talking not because they value the life, but, I think, they are part of the ploy. Some where I read, Narcotics, Islamic terrorism, spy agencies, NATO are all intertwined. The melodrama episode that is happening in Sri lanka is not unique to Sri lanka. It has happened else where. IT looks exactly the same thing, very much of of it has happened in Spain too. Only thing unique is PSC which looks some one had asked Ranil to appoint it, and they must have named even the individuals to be appointed for it, (I think FCID was another such Fraud, Mahinda Rajapakse understood and exposed even Ranil). They want a Presidential commission that is they want to understand the Intelligence network in Srilanka. that is what they are doing.
Matirhipala Can consider a high security penitentiary for these people from which they can not continue business. Just the way, they were behind LTTE and LTTE rump, even this DRUG Cartels and Wahhabis, I suppose, something that can not be stopped. In that sense, getting rid of them would send a message to others who want to join. It is very interesting to find out who gave the idea Ranil for appointing of a PSC. Wahhabis are all over the world but in different names. Even though true muslims are not drug Dealers, these so called orthodox muslims are drug dealers. that is an established fact. at least in that very similar case.

Drug dealing is the result of a cause. There are better ways to stop the causes from creating ill effects. There is no better way to teach the causes than revealing the authentic Buddha’s words that has emerged.

The children of Sri Lanka are deprived the authentic home grown teaching of the Buddha. The corrupt Buddhist establishment including the heads of the 3 Nikaya’s are blocking the truth from being revealed. The head of state are also complicit in the conspiracy.

The longer it’s hidden the more people are deprived a teaching that belongs to human kind. Let this be a warning to all. Unless the truth is revealed the country again risks entering.a dark age that will last a very long time.

The instructions are attached. Click my name for the info.

I think what Jambu says can happen. Arab revolutions, color revolutions were every where, most recently in Latin america. Recently, one UNITED NATIONS Rappoteur for right to meeting during the Curfew, right to violence during the martial law etc., came. I think he is a member of a team who prepares Sri lanka for some kind of violence most probably just after the election and make defeated candidate the king.
JAmbu, you are just an idiot with respect to Buddhism. You people preach all over the world but you do exactly of the religion that you practice.

the spine is also reflected from the limp handshake.I always grip the hand firmly to show to the other person i will always do what i say i will do.handshake shows to me whether i can trust the guy.A limp handshake,no good for me.He can be pressured and influenced by others and will back off from what he says to me.

LAWASIA should go and tell that to the people.More than 90% of sri lankans want the death penalty for heinous crimes.Oh i forgot,LAWASIA and the EU don’t believe in democracy.

here is a crime index by city. Before they preach to others the EU should tell the rest of the world why their cities are so full of crime.

We have no idea of who constructed this data. Hundred of thousands of town and cities are missing there. Remember, this is by towns, not by countries. With in that you sleeted the towns you liked. For India, 17 towns’ data is given; 9 performing better than Colombo, 8 are below Colombo. The town you select to Western countries, all them have their own police forces. These town have about 100 to 200 different language speakers, same number of cultures and hundred of thousand of undocumented citizens. More than 500,000 thousand New Yorkers (City) has no record and born outside of US. Colombo has five languages, Arabic, Chinese, Sinhalese, Tamil & English. So don’t compare Apples with Oranges.

Death penalty is a must in Sri Lanka, starting from many of the politicians who cheat the people of the country and who siphon the country’s wealth and who are involved in drugs trade , and people who commit heinous crimes. I doubt even the death penalty would change anything in Sri Lanka.

  • 13

Let us render the death penalty to the entire Rajapaksa clan including Shiranthi and her thief and womanizer brother (ex-Sri Lankan chairman joker), then this gamarala clown President and his thug son, then extend it to Karuna, Pillayan and Douglas. Then this country will be a better place to live.

Though I am totally AGAINST the death penalty, if it is going to be implemented, it should start from Diyawanna place. Majority of the 225 creatures inhabit that place, and their family members will be perfect candidates for the start. If real justice is going to serve, to take care of that flock, we might need at least a dozen hangmen and a dozen gallows working around the clock for many months. Where else one can find the worst thieves, Tsunami charity robbers, drug dealers, rapists and murderers? I don’t think we can find any better group suitable to start among the general public.

You realise that these countries you have mentioned are either Muslim countries or under dictatorship.
I can’t imagine why someone with a sound mind would wish Sri Lanka to be under that kind of system.
If you wish this country well you should advocate for thing to get better and not vice versa.
Being civilised means following the teachings of the Buddha. Where or under what circumstance did the Buddha ask us to kill someone?
Right, never! Yeah. Hope you are beginning see my point?

Sira and Shiral are such dumb-asses they think Duterte is a success story, and therefore they can improve their political prospects by copying him. Sira is trying to emerge as a hero by hanging men already caged and totally helpless. This coward Sira was shitting in his Sarong and hid in a hole on a coconut farm with his family in January 2015 terrified of Mara. He should realize every human being – whether king or pauper – is similarly scared of dying. That is why the death penalty is widely condemned as a gratuitously cruel method of punishment indefensible in any civilized society.

“He should realize every human being – whether king or pauper – is similarly scared of dying.”

except for the victims. They were not scared of dying.

“That is why the death penalty is widely condemned as a gratuitously cruel method of punishment indefensible in any civilized society.”

especially as the victims were not civilized people.

Whatever the seriousness of Duterte of Philippines, I, as commented before, consider the Sri Lankan threats as a hoax. It is clear that neither the Ministry of Justice nor the Department of Prisons have ever received the Presidential warrants specifying the name of the condemned and the date & time of execution. But HE claims to have signed the warrants and HE too doesn’t reveal the details. Hence, one way is to conclude that one of the parties should be lying that is either the President or the Prisons Department. The other possibility is that both are not lying. The big man has indeed signed the warrants but the signed document has not yet been sent to the Department through the Ministry. Photocopies of it can be taken and secretly be shown to the condemned to drive a chill on them and thereby lure them into an under the table bargaining resulting in a deal. We indeed remember how presidential top brass were found counting notes by the bushel in hotel car parks. So another set of presidential operatives, according to this hypothesis, should have been active. The decision of the courts to stall this indeed stalled the another primitive wheeler dealer operation. I am inclined to believe the second possibility, judging from previous activities that has engulfed the country.

Madush has told everything. Madush has taken photographs with certain politicians too. It is the Gay politician (CT Sri lanka allows GAYness to be discussed openly) Ranjan Ramanayake said there at least 175 politicians, (definitely every president and Prime minister is included) who signed to clear the Narcotics consignment s at the entry ports. I heard Madush has a few law firms working for him. this may be one. HE has told, he would tell every thing and not to kill him. But, the Drug Cartel owner is very careful, just the way JVP-Cheguvera did but better, not to get caught everybody.

Because there are 10 Tamils listed within the 20 convicts selected to hang, Tamils believe that this is another Yahapalanaya anti-Tamil activity, not about abolishing the drug menus. North has been winning the “Most Crime Free” state in all 1970s (Almost for 15 years). After 1970s, Police department stopped this awarding process because none of the Sinhala Provinces were able to achieve this and there were no Sinhala Police officer who could take them to this level of sophistication. Sinhala Officers shined only in Sinhala Rapist Army and Rapist Navy, only in raping and War Crime. It can be against Tamils or Sinhalese or even Muslims. These days the CID, F word CID, TID or any other ID less Sinhala Police officers have not been able to prove one case in the courts. Even during IPKF time, when Indian forces murdered and raped Tamils, rapist Army was enjoying the newly earned vacation from Rajiv, in south with their families and girlfriends. This New King is insisting in keeping the drug wholesale dealers, the Rapist army, in North and it is this Rapist Army employing the ex. rebels to transport the drugs to Colombo and at the end, the rebels caught in the traps of case fixing Sinhala Jury Only verdicts. Even the Sinhala Cardinal Comedy called the New King a backboneless president. This backboneless is no comparison to Duterte who though merciless violent person, still a leader. New King’s partner in war crimes, Old King, called him Judas- the Aappakaraya.

  • 0
    0

Pillaiyan is in the Prison because he said in court that he was hired to hitman job on New King by Old King. New King played Judas role to topple Old King, in 2015. It was Ranil who saved Old Royals from the hand of US State Secretary John Kerry. Recently, New King has been begging Old King to select him to EP candidacy to bring down Ranil. It is highly likely some kind of Judas job will be staged in the coming election by Old King & New King against Ranil. (The tri is so unreliable, unfaithful and insincere gang). We cannot say anything as right or close to what would happen. The Lankawe election game is played by Sinhala Intellectual master minds. Their style is, instead solving any problem, make it more complicated and return it to the enemy, it as a boomerang. So the Boomerang that flied between SWRD and Don Stephen is still well in good condition and flying between then trio and the 70 years of technological perfection in screwing up added.
Old King and Old Brother Prince have been disabled standing for election by the 19A created by Ranil & New King. Old Brother Prince has managed to release his Chain and Ball put on him by the two Yahapalanaya leaders. When Ranil heard in May that Old Brother Prince was success in breaking the lock he immediately went to Singapore to see his hospitalization. But Old King tried to screw up Old Brother Prince with the help California Consular in the Case of Lasantha Ahimsa. Snake swallow snake.

  • 0
    0

So far Old King has not said either New King or Old Brother Prince as Slap Party or SLFP candidates. If Old Brother Prince is not selected in Slap Party, he cannot risk facing the American Court case empty handed. He has to stand as on his own (effectively as SLFP) opposing New King. Then if he wins, he is likely to get SLFP and EP. But very unlikely he gets to get Slap Party, if he didn’t stand on that. This victory is 100% dependent on who comes out of UNP. If Old Brother Prince stands in as common candidate of SLFP and UNP, the victory is probably confirmed, like last time. SLMC & ACMC’s support is guaranteed to him, in that case. So it is in Ranil hand. We can see if the Singapore hospital meeting can yield any fruit, in his matter. If Old King is not selecting New King as SLFP candidate, there would be a storm in their relationship. If Ranil or Old Brother Prince wins, the parliament election would be one year away, not in February. Ranil might need some more MPs and he would go for Donkey Trading in SLFP. New King would have only one month to manage his affairs to burn the docs and close the bunkers, filling earth. If he wants to fire all his traitors out of parliament, that will be rush at that time, for him. So he may start to work on this as soon as the candidates are selected, instead of waiting for the election result. (This tells the candidate selection would be done only on the last to file the application- JVP may select earlier than others). So we can expect that the boomerang multiply itself into many fireworks and flying back and forth, starting from September. Our prediction need not to have any excitements, as could be as the reality, because we assumed SLMC, ACMC and most part of the UNP and TNA would be inactive.

    Mally.. Riveting stuff Buddy..
Where did yo get all this?.
Are you that Mole who was working in the Defence Ministry when Nandasena was in Charge.
And the LEN used to publish every move of them after Mr Piraharan.?.

You reckon , Dr Ranil of Batalanda fame paid a visit on Nade, while Nande was recovering from his new Plumbing?..

That sounds pretty logical and probable too.
Politics is a dirty game specially in Lankawe.

Look at your New King , He sucked Batalanda Balls , and let Mahendran , Aloysious Galloen , Senasinghe, and Kalu Ajith,, to rip the guts of our Mahavamsa Treasury.

And let the Muslims become Billionaires with Land holdings of the magnitude which used to be the forte of Kiriellas and other Hamus in the UNP Walauwas.

New King them started playing Politricks with same Dr Ranil, to make Dr Ranil look the Villain, mainly to grab a Second Innings to make either Son or the Daughter to become the next Anura or Chandrika of the SLFP.

In the process, New King willingly or unwillingly let the Muslims destroy the Catholic Church which even our Sinhala Buddhists Fascists lead by Ven Gnnaissara or the Mahosnas couldn’t do,

Now Sira and the SLFP , I should say are History.
So it is the SLAPP Party and the UNP for sure going forward.

But the UNP is going to be in Two. Mind you..

One with the Colombo Elite , Anglicans and the Wahabis , sorry Muslims as well, instead of the Old UNP which was Elite , Anglicans and the Vellalas with a smattering of poor Sinhala Buddhists who were hoodwinked by Keslwatta Kid with Samurdhi Cash..

The other is a real UNP with our Dalit Boy Keselwatta Kid in charge and Kalu Ajith and even Senasinghe giving the Kid a hand.
Digital Harin, although he has lost all his credibility among our Catholic brothers and sisters may also join the Kid.

For terrible criminals death penalty is acceptable. But the problem is the legal and judicial system in SL and how it is manipulated, and abused to meet personal needs. It is extremely difficult to trust our legal system, police investigations, political interference, etc. that terribly interfere with the judicial process. I know too well how people were forced to make false confessions for crimes that they have never done. Even Tamil relatives were forced to write letters to say their loved ones were terrorists to claim the dead bodies. The lawyers, judges, police officers and even the so-called experts who conduct the cases do not have enough knowledge or understanding or ability to learn and analyse before determining the outcome. Racial bias is another curse in our legal system. So it is extremely difficult to determine whether someone found guilty in our law courts are really guilty or not. Evidential materials are severely tampered at various levels. Documents favourable to defence are kept away from them by prosecution. For the poor there is no proper system to defend themselves. The so-called assigned counsels are of no use. So, even though serious criminals may be hanged yet we dont have a proper, fool proof, legal system to protect the innocent. Simple example is the Thajudeens case. What is happening. There are many views, many stories and many speculations. The killers are trying to look for scapegoats to place the blame, even doctors are accused of complicity while the killers are going about scot free. How did they deal with political horas and how did they escape? Even former AG himself is under query but who cares and where is justice? Former honest Lady AG was hooted and kicked out and where is justice?

    • 4

      Nathan
All what you have said about the judicial and legal process in this island is absolutely true.
For the poor especially if he/she is of minority Tamil ethnicity the chances of having a fair trial and obtaining justice is remote and hopeless.

I am shocked at the attitude of my fellow Countryman,
    how be it ?
when rumours are spread in connection towards anyone ( not just Muslims) even a politician with almost zero facts and myths the respond is always overwhelling as long as there is prejudise against that person or persons, However when the media exposes with proof of clear evidence about garbage ( containing dangerous & Extremely harmful substances that can destroy our enviorment and the humain remains left exposed to all weather which may even bring in plagues similar to ebola and others which those human remains may contain and could kill in millions , Yet I do not see heros among the medical profession , the judiciory or from the clergy who champion to save race, Religion and country condemning except for just one Buddhist Clergy and one Media.
does it make sense to import garbage to recycle into a country which is not equiped to recycle its own waste?

Omg what has happened to all of US Sri Lankans???

am sure the climate change has conteminated our warm blood and now its cold and become like of the reptiles.
No matter how much News 1st( only media)exposing the illegal mining , and now this garbage issue and we all know well what caused the kerala disastor , yet we just do not care .
It is really scary how thick skin we have turned to..
I really do not know how we will deal with future disastors being a small country .

Once the portcity opens no one can imagine the ammount of waste we will need to deal with , they will just dump everything into our oceans polluting it and destroying it permently .
Its the future generations who will suffer.

The Yanks (derogatory term for USA) have the death penalty and the Yanks kidnap innocent people from Afghanistan and torture them in Guantanamo Bay. But the UN or any human rights agency never said anything about that. The UN is a joke! The UN only goes after poor countries who don’t have a strong military. If a rich country with a strong military commits severe human rights abuses, the UN says nothing at all. The Yanks started unprovoked wars and occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan and the Yanks have been killing innocent civilians in those countries for nearly 20 years, but the UN is completely silent about it.

Sumanasekara the issue is Malaysia and especially Singapore has no record of revenge killings using impunity
and their system is so transparent its impossible to hang the innocent , today even the PM is behind bars in Malaysia.
First His Excellency must prove he has the iron in him to at any cost change the constitution where the parliment becomes thee supreme and the people will have the power to hold anyone and everyone accountable , he needs to do this before any elections , he must use all his power to presure the entire cabinet to agree to do so and then he can bring in the death penalty, once we have a system that is 100% accountable and transparent and 100% peoples power

Why apply the Death Penalty only to those Drug Peddlers already in Prison?
The Drug Lords are outside, and enjoy the Patronage of Rich and Powerful Politicians!

        Cow the Boy ?????.

I thought Death Penalty is already in our Mahavamsa Constitution ,

Mate, Innocents were hung or shot or electrocuted even in countries where there are those First Class Constitutions.

Even our recent ancestors hung poor innocent naive, Ven Somarama under Solbury Constitution.
And I don’t think poor Somrama could understand even one word during his whole trial.

Mate, are you serious to tell us this Parliament must become the Supreme?..
When the pricks their sell their votes to the highest bidder..
And take Santhosams and even Penthouses to pass Legislation …

What Planet are you on , Mate?.
BTW your pseudo name tempts me to ask . “Are you a Ranil;’s Boy”..?

Now, Kalamas, don’t go by reports, by legends, by traditions, by scripture, by logical conjecture, by inference, by analogies, by agreement through pondering views, by probability, or by the thought, ‘This contemplative is our teacher.’ When you know for yourselves that, ‘These qualities are skillful; these qualities are blameless; these qualities are praised by the wise; these qualities, when adopted & carried out, lead to welfare & to happiness’ — then you should enter & remain in them.

            Dear Native,

Buddha wouldn’t have made our Sinhala Buddhists Docile Minded, if the Awakened One anticipated that the UNP, Anglicans, Vellalas and the Wahabis wouldl rip them off and shaft them on their own 2500 year old Mahavamsa Land..

              The Buddha, the Awakened One.

Therefore there is no point in you and your fellow professional liars lying day and night over 24/7/52.

Being a Sinhala/Buddhist fascist builder of ghetto you are not a happy person. By being a fascist ghetto builder you sound not only a masochist but also a sadist too.

Don’t you have anything positive and happy things to say.

How does your partner put up with you?
Do your children talk to you?
You should mind your language when you talk to your grandchildren. They are the future generation don’t make groom them into being sadists/masochists like you.

Are you blaming Buddha for Sinhala/Buddhist fascistic and despicable behaviour?

It all started with the public racist Anagarika Homeless Dharmapala and those crooks and criminals who were owning/running the country since 1948.

Sumana my dear fellow country man I do agree to all what you have said , yet all countries which are today first world countries were like us before , people made the change , remember The wall of Berlin , The iron curtain soviet union ,
btw LOL no thank you am not Ranil’s boy .
I do have a mind of my own.
People like you and me can sincerely try hard to share our opinions and who knows another 100 like us with better opinions and suggestions may change the minds of the people.
better live in hope than die in despair..
do not underestimate The people of China , from bambo curtain they have come out this far and I believe China will carefully turn the whole giant of a land to its people to manage carefully by turing into autonomous states preventing collapse.

one government can not do justice perfectly covering 25 , 000 sq km and 20 million people and those who keep refusing federal system are the biggest enimies of the people , Malaysia federalism alone is a good enough a example of sucess .

            Cow the Boy,

Ma Tse Tung and Deng Shao Ping nether took Santhosams ,nor did they encourage their School friends and Family buddies to take Santhosams , specially by rigging Government Contracts and outright robbing of the the Public Institutions.

            That is the difference mate.
Most of our current rulers would have bee dead meat if we had at least one of them Chinese Leaders…

            Federal System will be ok,
But not separate Federal States for Thamils, Muslims and UNP Elite and the the Anglicans ..

And another Five or Six Federals for the Sinhala Buddhists who are mainly in the Dalit Class.

Two Chief Ministers or Premiers with the least record of Robbing , Cheating and even Molesting are better than Seven of them to rule the Sinhala Buddhists and Catholics who make up 70% of the inhabitant population.
Not Six or Seven as Dr Ranil ‘s buddies in the CC have drafted .

Like in China any new Constitution must include Death Penalty to the politikkas who take Santhosams and Rob the Public purse like what they have done since 2015.
Even taking LKR 34 Million from Free Car permits , when the Dalits on Samurdhi have to feed themselves as well as the Kiddies on LKR 3000 a month., must be punishable by Hanging , just like in China.

China is Particracy, where party dominates.
Deng Xiaoping once said ” “it doesn’t matter whether a cat is black or white, if it catches mice it is a good cat”.

But here in this island, people are forced to vote for Sinhala/Buddhist fascist by fear mongering and outright lies, in one way or another. You are still awaiting for miracle to happen, an utopian idea of Sinhala/Buddhist civilisation which sadly never existed and there was no Sinhala/Buddhist people even 110 years ago.

              👍,
              Sumana,,
ya mate , but such rigid force wont work in Sri Lanka , with all the short commings we Buddhist,Hindus, Chatholic,Muslim& others of Sri Lanka are very similar minded when it comes to freedom , yes freedom lovers and anyone trying to take that away could be very disastrous , Madam Sirima’s biggest failure and why JVP will never be a signifigant political force ever and soon as the educated and intelect class of younsters of all races become the deciding voters there will be lot of changes.
If a person takes over with high hopes of instilling fear in people , it wont work , it might at the begining on minorities, but some how it will lead to the majority too.
The only viable system for Sri Lanka with different cultures , religions and language will be a Swiss Canton type system , Switzerland has four official langauges , besides English as a working language esp in Geneva and also its the almost the size of Sri Lanka , but Sri Lanka is more blessed with Arable land than Switzerland though a champion in farming and agriculture it has more mountains than land & I just do not get it why we can not even have enough affordable rice and local veges & fruits , now that is how far our system is screwed .
So fix the system right once and for all or in the near future there could be a serious rebellion , especially if a non democratic government is voted in.
              wait& hope
              2 great words
