Strip Sri Lanka Of C’wealth Chairmanship, Ed Miliband Urges

Labour has called for Sri Lanka’s president to be stripped of his chairmanship of the Commonwealth as David Cameron heads to Colombo for a summit overshadowed by the host country’s alleged human rights abuses, the Guardian reports.

Before the gathering of 54 world leaders, Ed Miliband said the prime minister must not allow Sri Lanka to take up its two-year leadership role after it hosts the Commonwealth heads of government meeting.

      Milliband brothers, are they twins?

Hypocrisy is identical in both of them.

Of course, David milliband was caught with his pants down at the American Embassy, colombo by Wikileaks. When he confirmed his real reasons for human kindness towards Tamils.

And now this clown. The younger brother. Is there anything you would not do for votes in the UK?

All this is helping Sri Lanka’s dictator to expand and consolidate his vote bank in rural Sri Lanka. Who will rally behind their President with statements like this from LTTE friendly UK.

BTW Eddie, did UK ever get around to hanging Winston Churchill by his balls for that horrific bombing of Dresden, Germany by Royal Air Force? If so, why not?

Will you now expel yourselves from the Commonwealth too?

      Cheers!

UK was full on assisting GOSL for many years; there are articles here of UK police assisting Sri Lankan Law Enforcement since the 80s atleast even whole there was ample evidence of police brutality and ruthless squashing of anti government dissidents.
UK allowed Karuna to escape before he could be tried for war crimes, all because of lobbying from the GOSL who issued Karuna passport.

Just because UK allowed LTTE political office does not mean they (the UK) were sympathetic to LTTE; they did to keep tabs on LTTE and Tamils who were politically active in regards to Sri Lanka.

UK like US and the rest of the West has quietly and some times not soo quietly assisted Sri Lanka behind the scenes , and only ever gave very limp wristed admonitions but never followed it up with any action.

        Nazi Ben,

You worry more about other leaders, but not about your leader who personally ordered to bomb civilians and abduct and murder civilians. Why can’t you leave commonwealth and United Nations both accuse your nation for war crimes, crime against humanity and genocide. If you want free Sri lanka from the dictator and his family tell the truth to the Sinhala masses that it is this government massacred over 40, 000 civilians and this is the regime responsible for the crimes against humanity.

BTW Eddie, did UK ever get around to hanging Winston Churchill by his balls for that horrific bombing of Dresden, Germany by Royal Air Force? If so, why not?

Are you a Nazi sympathizer? Have you forgotten who Winston Churchill fought against? Do you think that taking the side of a fascist organization will earn you brownie points? If you lived in Nazi Germany what do you think would have happened to you. Hitler might have invited you to tea! Not.

The fire bombing of Dresden has been brought up by many people in these forums including Dr Subramanian Swamy to justify our SLGs genocide in the final days of the LTTE conflict.

These are totally disingenuous statements aimed at throwing mud in the face of the person holding the opposing view in the hope that your opponent is ignorant of the history of the second world war and will not be able to mount a reasonable challenge to your arguments.

Dresden was fire bombed in retaliation to the bombing of London. This was a war in which the allies fought on our side in Defence of freedom and racial tolerance against an enemy who held themselves superior to all other races and embarked on the annihilation of an entire race of people.

This was a war fought against another sate of equal standing. It was not a war fought against a terrorist outfit where the state governed by international law stooped to the level of a terrorist organization even when its own front line troops had more decency.

          Frodo,

Despite all your screaming, you missed the point.

Nope, I do not admire fascist Hitler or Nazi Germany.

However, carpet bombing of Dresden by Royal Air Force was a grave war crime by UK. And harldy the only one.

Winston Chrchill was never called a war criminal by either the UK Labour or Conservative parties.

Therefore they should shut up! Understood?

          Cheers!

The Tamils of Sri Lanka today are being treated like the Jew were in Europe during the Nazi regime..

ED and David Miliband who is of Jewish descent will understand this well. Let us hope they can prod the sycophantic David Cameron to stoo Rajapassa becoming head of the Commonwealth – and if he does become head a global campaign will be launched to shut down the Common Poverty of Nations which is a useless British Colonial relic and expensive White Elephant.

If Rajapassa becomes head of the Commonwealth this British Colonial Relic organization, its days will certainly be numbered as the global call to shut down an organization that boosts third world dictators and violates its own purported core principles of “democracy, and rule of law”.
We has had enough SPIN and empty words about “engagement” – the Clown Kamlesh Sharma’s favourite SPIN and Sop! Rajapassa at the CHOGM press briefing repeatedly invited everyone to “discuss” and giggled!
Yes he has been discussing and having endless Commissions to
“discuss” with little progress -f or years while he consolidates his military dictatorship. The ONLY thing that was done was the Northern Provincial elections – a sop to the Commonwealth of Clowns for Rajapassa to become King and have Cameron and Prince Charles “under” him – as his foolish Ministers have been boasting in Sinhala! Time to shut down his stupid Common Poverty of Nations British Colonial relic!

What has that got to do with what Rajapaksa is doing today? So since they did something bad centuries ago, Rajapaksa and Co. get carte blanche to do whatever. With this logic every dictator in world can slaughter people left and right and brush aside any criticism from the West.

Britain militarily and diplomatically helped GOSL all these years when GOSL was fighting LTTE, so supremely hypocritical of you to now say Britain should not comment on the human rights situation. You took their help, now you got no choice but to take their criticism also.

      • 0
        0

That is factually wrong. Britain did not help us militarily.
‘You took their help, now you got no choice but to take their criticism also.’
If this isn’t a more blatant example of you sympathising with a proscribed terrorist organisation I don’t know what would. Britain is famous for poking their nose in other countries and they’ve been doing it for centuries. They’ve also committed war crimes for centuries as well as recently in Iraq. The only thing ‘supremely’ hypocritical is Britain trying to tell us about war crimes when committing them is almost instilled in their culture. As for us Sri Lankans, we don’t invade countries, we don’t send our convicts to other nations to resettle, we don’t try to change the culture in other countries, we don’t use indigenous people as shooting practice. Now as for Britain trying to tell us about war crimes in your own words that is ‘supremely hypocritical’.

        • 0
          0

Britian proscribed LTTE, so yes they did help you.
British police helped Sri Lankan authorities for decades.
British arms merchants/go betweens sold military hardware to SL.

You will blatantly support MARA regime and just like MARA regime brand any critic as supporting ‘terrorism’ , a convenient moniker that is and has been used by many to demonise their opponents.

Your comment about sending British convicts to Aus is laughable as that happened centuries ago and doesn’t give GOSL carte blanche to commit war crimes but according to you because the British did bad things in the past then GOSL has the right to do it to without criticism. With your logic Saddam, Taleban, Pinochet and many other tryants can all claim the “but but you did it too defense” . Truly a pathetic attempt at defense by you.

Britian can well lecture you lot on war crimes as Britain is a relatively free country that allows different cultures to live there in peace and safety.

            0

Is there a statute of limitations on war crimes now PalmSquirell? I find it disturbing that you believe British convicts being sent to Australia bringing disease and committing war crimes on indigenous soil laughable.
You keep talking in second-person when referring to Sri Lanka as ‘you lot’ so obviously you’re not from around here. If you knew Sri Lankan history you would know that Tamils and Sinhalese have lived in harmony as one nation for centuries.
Do those other tyrants you mentioned include Tony Blair or George W Bush? As far as I know, they have nicely swept under the rug all war crime allegations leveled against them and now you’re trying to tell me that they can lecture us on war crimes? Quit making a fool out of yourself! If Britain is so peaceful maybe you should live there. Oh! But watch out for the skinheads, the EDL, the British soldiers that killed 26 unarmed civil rights protesters without charge, the BNP, and people like the man who stabbed the 75 year old Muslim in a race hate crime and Thavisha Peiris. Yes, what a safe country!

This fool is not doing anyone any favours. I never thought there were but there are racial undertones in this anti-Sri Lanka movement. They can’t stand the fact especially Labour that Sri Lanka without any foreign military intervention was able to eradicate terrorism. If there was foreign intervention, we all know it would have been swept under the rug like the war crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan. Today there are so many positive developments in the country that are providing more jobs to the people here for all races while we live in peace today and then we have someone like this idiot trying to isolate us like we were before 2009. Every Sri Lankan that is LIVING HERE knows that figure the UN keep alleging were killed of 40,000 would have been quadrupled have the war been going on today. Newsflash Eddy, we’re called Sri Lanka, not British Ceylon.

For more than a decade the LTTE used a human shield to protect its leaderS wherever their safety deemed they should be.

The government plainly decided that that human shield would be decimated to expose the LTTE for its total destruCtion.

But as soon as the LTTe saw the human shield being mercilessly decimated, and many of its members along with it , the rest made an escape bid but it was too late. once they were wiped out there wasn’t any further need to target the human shield. by that time between 40k to 70k had been slaughtered in its inexorable pursuit of the LTTE. This monumental killing spree is obviously the chilling fact that persuaded the LTTE it had no chance but to flee. the LTTE launched an attack against the army from within the human shield precisely because it anted to prevent the slaughter albeit for selfish reasons.

The enormity of this crime put fear into the LTTE. It was a planned act of genocide before their eyes.

And yes, had they not been decimated the heavy weapons attacks on the civilian human shield would have continued until it achieved its purpose. It’s easy to reconstruct the whole damning episode.

The civilians were pathetically caught between both sides and when they saw the thousands falling in their midst, it was this factor that compelled them to defy the LTTE bullets which were felling them as they began fleeing towards government ranks… directly into the cattle pens called welfare centers. most of them were the ones who were checked out and cleared for release with the government claiming it was being merciful and releasing ACTIVE LTTE FIGHTERS. BULLSHIT !

CAN WE HAVE A LIST OF THE “ACTIVE” LTTE CHILD SOLDIERS WHO WERE RELEASED ? CAN WE HAVE A LIST OF THE “ACTIVE’ ADULT LTTE FIGHTERS WHO WERE RELEASED ? WITH THEIR ADDRESSES?

THESE COCK-AND-BULL STATEMENTS ARE GOOD FOR THE NAIVE.
IT WAS PERHAPS THE ENORMITY OF THESE WANTON ATTACKS ON CIVILIANS THAT TIPPED FONSEKA OVER , LIKE SHIRANI BANDARANAYAKA, WHO DECIDED THAT ENOUGH WAS ENOUGH !

THEREIN LIE THE TALE THAT DROVE THE GOVERNMENT BERSERK IN ITS FEARS OF EXPOSURE AND EXPLAINS THE DAMNING WITCH HUNT THAT REDUCED FONSEKA TO A NEAR-DEATH CONDITION IN JAIL.

WHAT AN IGNOMINIOUS END FOR SUCH A MAN !BUT EVEN HE WAS NO GREAT STRATEGIST CONSIDERING THAT KARUNA AND KP WERE THERE TO FEED THE GOVERNMENT WITH INFORMATION OF EVERY LIKELY SITE AT WHICH THE LTTE LEADERSHIP WOULD BE; WHERE ITS ARMS CACHES WERE[ REMEMBER HOW CACHE AFTER CACHE WAS DISCOVERED IN THOSE DAYS. THEIR SUPPLIES BLOCKED OFF, ARMS SHIPS DESTROYED, IT WAS A VIRTUOUSLY REMNANT OF THE LTTE THAT WAS HIDING BEHIND THOSE CIVILIANS.

THEIR MASSACRE WAS FAR FROM THE GLIB STATEMENT THAT ONE HAS TO EXPECT INADVERTENT BATTLE COLLATERAL DEATHS. IT WAS TO DESTROY ALL EVIDENCE TO THIS EFFECT THAT ALL AND SUNDRY WERE DENIED ACCESS TO ANY BATTLEFRONT AREA IN THE POST-WAR PERIOD UNTIL THE FIELDS WERE “CLEARED” .

THEY FORGOT THAT MANY SOLDIERS HAD ALREADY COLLECTED SOME DAMNING EVIDENCE OF WAR CRIMES AND THAT SUCH EVIDENCE REACHED CHANNEL 4 !!!

ANY DOLT CAN EASILY UNDERSTAND WHY CHANNEL 4 MEN WERE NOT ALLOWED TO REACH JAFFNA… AND I WAS NOT ANY SUDDEN RUSH OF LOVE TO PROTECT OUR JAFFNA DAMSELS FROM THESE ‘RAPACIOUS BRITISH PIGS’NO THANK YOU, ANY RAPING IS RESERVED FOR A HOME AND HOME SETTING ONLY !

NO SIR, THE GREAT VICTORS OF WAR GET GOO IN THEIR PANTS JUST FEARING ABOUT WHAT DAMNING EVIDENCE CAN STILL BE ‘UNEARTHED’

AND THAT IS YET ANOTHER REASON WHY THE ARMY MUST BE OUT THERE IN VAST NUMBERS !

IT’S AN AFFRONT TO ALL THAT IS HUMAN AND DECENT IN THEM FOR SOLDIERS WORTH THEIR SALT TO GO ON INDEFINITELY OBEYING ORDERS TO DO THE UNCONSCIONABLE.

IT’S THE MADDENING FEAR THAT THE AWFUL TRUTH WILL BE EXPOSED THAT MAKES THE GOVERNMENT’S IMBECILIC APOLOGISTS TROT OUT STUPID ARGUMENTS TO STAVE OFF THE INEVITABLE.

THE GOVERNMENT FAILED WITH SPIN MASTERS SUCH AS DAYAN J AND SO-CALLED ‘JOURNALISTS’ IN THE KEPT PRESS AND THE PROSTITUTE MEDIA AS THOUGH THE WORLD IS MADE OF OF IDIOTS SUCH AS THEMSELVES.

IN THE KIDDIES GAME OF “HOT OR COLD” ONE KID HIDES HIMSELF, ANOTHER , BLINDFOLDED, LOOKS FOR HIM. A THIRD KID CALLS OUT “HOT” OR ‘COLD’ DEPENDING ON WHETHER THE SEARCHER IS APPROACHING THE ONE IN HIDING OR MOVING AWAY FROM HIM.

EVEN BLINDFOLDED, THE TRAIL IS BECOMING PRETTY HOT.

BUT THIS, NOT BEING A GAME FOR KIDS,IS BECOMING A TAD TOO HOT FOR THOSE WITH THINGS TO HIDE.

ONE OF THESE DAYS, SOMEONE’S GOING TO POINT A FINGER AT SOMETHING AND THAT WILL INADVERTENTLY TOUCH THE HOUSE OF CARDS…AND THE GAME OF DOMINOES WILL BEGIN IN EARNEST.

AND THAT, DEAR APOLOGISTS, IS WHERE ALL OF YOU HAD BETTER SEEKING ASYLUM…IN CHINA. BUT I DOUBT BEIJING IS IN ANY HURRY TO GIVE PROTECTION TO ANYONE AND RISK BEING CALLED A PARTNER IN CRIME.

WHEN THE SHIT HITS THE FAN, TIANENMEN SQUARE
WILL BEGIN TO LOOK LIKE A PICNIC.

INDIA, THE UNITED STATES, CHINA AND THE UK MIGHT WELL BE RUING THE DAY THEY DECIDED TO HELP SRI LANKA DESTROY THE TIGERS…THEY HELPED DESTROY MUCH, MUCH MORE THAN A BAND OF TERRORISTS.

AND NOW THE DISTANCING FROM SRI LANKA HAS BEGUN, THE NET I VERILY CLOSING IN. THAT’S IF YOU HAVE EYES TO SEE.

WHY DO I HAVE THIS NAGGING FEELING THAT A GUY CALLED SHARMA MIGHT BE CONSIDERING THE EASY WAY OUT BEFORE HE TOO IS FURTHER EXPOSED.

It’s British Blunder ! If Britain is the Cause of the Problem.
In India, the lands and the provincial governance were returned to the indigenous people of the regions; like Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Kerala (smaller than Ceylon), Bengal and even the creation of Pakistan.
But, this was not so in Ceylon. Britain was in haste as weary after the WWII and didn’t listen to the fears of the minorities. Hence, it’s the British Blunder.
Soon the Sinhalese re-wrote the History of Ceylon in Text Books; as been a unitary Sinhalese, Buddhist state for 2500 years and the minorities are the remnants of invaders and traders from India.
“Sinhalese Only” Law in 1956, proclaimed the Sinhalese as the Only ruling Race which gave them the mind set that “The minorities may survive at the mercy of the Sinhalese”. Whenever the Minority asked for Parity; Terror, Loot, Arson and Rape unleashed every time upon the defenseless Sri Lankans living amongst the Sinhalese.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoMJyF20nN4 post independent Ceylon, Sinhala Only, the JVP
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKRPQKgQBmc crushing JVP, emergence of LTTE, State Pogrom
In July 1983, little known LTTE of around 80 militants; took on the Sri Lankan Army in Jaffna. The State Pogrom by the then JR Government brought about Loot, Arson, Rape and massacre of defenseless Sri Lankans fleeing to India, Europe, US. The LTTE numbers swelled to thousands mushrooming around the refugee camps in India. The State Pogrom in ’83 that invited India and the West to intervene, thus internationalised the Sri Lankan crisis.
LTTE & the Diaspora were the direct results of the Crime, Terrorism against the Minority Sri Lankans.
Over 130,000 Sri Lankan Refugees still being looked after by India for 30 years while thousands Indian children starve. This gives India, every right to intervene.
The LTTE turned terrorists in early 90’s; brought us to our Knees, to the point of surrendering the Captured territory. After acquiring Strength from the US, Briton, the EU, Pakistan, India, China; we were able to wipe out the LTTE from our country in May 2009. Yet no “Thank You” to Date, to the countries that helped us. There are LTTE financiers and supporters languishing in prisons in Europe and North America, yet we don’t acknowledge the Help from the West. “We won the War single Handed.” 100,000 Sri Lankan Tamils were killed by Sri Lankan Forces compared to 600 killed by the LTTE on 17 attacks on civilians in Lanka and India, a fraction of the number of civilians killed by the JVP Ministers (WW)in the Govt.
Yet, the Tamils can’t mourn for their dead relatives. JVP can celebrate their Hero’s Day.
Instead of investigating why it took us this long to wipe out a small army (around 10 – 12,000 compared to our 140,000 strong Army alone, MIGs, Frigates, Super Powers’ backing; against ill equipped child soldiers, 35% girls in flip flops; we still cherish a Single Handed Historic Victory.
Britain is totally responsible for the Killing Fields and should rectify the situation for the Minority Sri Lankans.
Proportional Representation in the cabinet, in parliament, in the Police and in the Armed Forces can be a good start towards reconciliation.

Time is right for the world community to take a decisive action against the Rajapakse’s lawless regime that ridiculed the press freedom, independence do judiciary and freedom of speech and right to life of the people.

People have no faith in the Judiciary infested with subservient, spineless judges who had shamelessly betrayed the trust placed in them by the people. Therefore the people want these criminals to be tried before the International Criminal Court, because justice has been denied to all communities by this tyrannical regime for a long long time.

Miliband’s stirring call to Prime Minister Cameron comes at an appropriate moment. Even if the Heads of Government had been oblivious to the happenings in Sri Lanka from 2009, the regime has rudely awakened them. Recent events in the country, and more pertinently the gross infractions of the law and of all norms of civilized behaviour in the last 5 days, have placed the President in an atrocious light.

The first day of the conference itself can cause a convulsion with Cameron taking the initiative and leading the revolt to proclaim to the world that the host President is unworthy to chair the Commonwealth. The second day can shake the conference to its foundations by electing a worthy Head of Government from a country with illustrious governance, to the chair. Otherwise mayhem for the people of Sri Lanka from next week onwards.

Big time Tory donors are in Town with Cameron and NcCrae with 2 Billion pound deals to put on the table after the Chooo Gumm as our inhabitants call it..

Mind you our inhabitants are not as up to speed as the Cosmopolitan intelligentsia whom the British traditionally identify with.

Thanks to Raja Brothers , Britsh now a days have to deal with at the Choo Gumm level. because their traditional mates and partners are acting even worse than our old Red Shirt brigades, clubbing each other with Cinnamon sticks and kneecapping fellow rebels with pea shooters and galkatass.

Milliband the younger, one would have thought be smarter.

Apparently no so perhaps to the utter disappointment to the real British who love their old Colonies and their people and want to see them prosper.

Alan Keenan , the boss of ICG reckons if the Govt doesn’t give into his Colombo allies things will definitely get ugly and there will be riots.

Tory Leader wouldn’t of course do anything to support that sort of nasties ,now that the Donors are going to park 2 Billion among our inhabitants,.

Do the Millibands have a different agenda and different plans?.

Our inhabitants are well aware that the British Labor,is totally an irrevocably aligned with the Diaspora, and its TNGTE and the support caste , of ISG,CPA, FUTA,BASL and of course the Cinnamon Faction of the UNP.

Now that the ICG Chief has put the cat out of the bag, our ordinary punters in the Harbour city must be wondering whether, CH4 McCrae, and Jonathan, are in strategy planning and logistics in Srikotha with the Brigadier of the Cinnamon Stick Miltia.whilst the Tory Leader is putting in a good word on behalf of his Donor mates and not forgetting to mention Rolls Royce as well.

In my view all Sri Lankans should appreciate what President Rajapakse does.

Having invited world community to Sri Lanka, he has shown the world precisely what kind of democracy in place in Sri Lanka.

World community was given a opportunity with first hand evidence shown by the BBC how the media freedom is suppressed in this island nation.

Whole nation indebted to President to displaying nudity to the world

    5 star media freedom

The government ardently maintains that free media is a basic rights of citizens which it always respect. Bu the truth is completely the opposite and it was manifestly established by the govt itself with the manhandling of the BBC Media men, which was shown live to the world community.

    Vibrant judiciary

President Rajapakse says that we need not international intervention to inquire into the serious and plausible allegations of crimes of humanity and violation of human rights as the people can rely on the vibrant judiciary in place. The effectiveness of the judiciary to protect the human rights of the people of this country was vividly demonstrated by the de facto Chief Justice Mohan Peiris, who was unlawfully appointed to the office after de jure Chief Justice was unlawfully removed for earning wrath of the regime for ruling against certain bills that empowered the Basil Rajapakse to abuse public finance and thereby violating the Constitution.

The clearly a political stooge of Rajapakse, Mohan Peris recently ruled (May 22nd 2013) that the criminal activities related to terrorism should not be interpreted as violation of human rights. He made these comments in the open court when the Fundamental Rights case of Ganeshan Nimalaruban, who was killed in the prison custody, was taken before the Supreme Court. The people of this country do have no faith in the justice system any more and therefore, the regime has no right to deny them of their right to seek justice from a system that can be trusted by the people for dispensing justice.
