The Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE) Ministry of International Affairs has today written to all members of the UNHRC to strictly adhere to the mandate given to the OISL, stating that it is important that the March 2014 resolution for an international independent investigation is not compromised but completed and report presented to Council on 25 March 2015 as planned, with recommendations for further action and referral to the ICC with an action plan for implementation.

“On behalf of the victims of the Mullaivaikkal war and for the dependents of those thousands killed, for justice, accountability and for closure of the pains and sufferings for the families to move forward, it is paramount that the UNHRC exercise its authority that human rights abuses, war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide should never be accepted or tolerated. Failure to enforce this resolution on Sri Lanka will only further encourage other dictators or regimes to take advantage and pursue state terrorism on its own people with impunity.” says the TGTE.
The TGTE said; “The lessons from Rwanda (never again) and the failure of UN to prevent the massacre in Sri Lanka, and the relevance of UNHRC for hope, justice and accountability comes into question for all victims and for the future of humanity. There needs to be a warning and a deterrent (R2P) before it happens again anywhere. UNHRC has this responsibility.
“The new Government of Sri Lanka (GoSL), which consists of the same perpetrators from the Mahinda regime, continues its arrogance and refuses to cooperate with UNHRC and still denies access to the UN investigators into the nation. It further wants to delay justice and accountability, protect the perpetrators, to cover and deviate the human rights and war crimes issues by proposing yet another “domestic” commission.
“The agenda of the new regime is no different from the previous Mahinda regime, and is continuing with its genocidal intent. It still refuses demilitarization, army is instilling fear and terror, is now planning to use the army for police duties, refuses to release women, children and political prisoners, refuses to provide list of those in custody, refuses to release confiscated lands by the army, there are still 50 000 internally displaced families refused entry into their own homes and farms, human rights violations are continuing by armed para military groups. Missing persons are still unaccounted for.
“Only a UNHRC mandated comprehensive independent international investigation will be accepted by the victims, their dependents, by the Tamils worldwide, and to all other victims worldwide waiting with hope for justice and accountability, for the truth on how, why and by whom this massacre took place.
“TGTE request the international community to come forward and ensure OISL completes its mandate, for the victims and for justice and accountability, knowing the past history of deceit and deviation by the successive Sri Lankan regimes, with continued subjugation under the military, it is now the responsibility and obligation of the international community (and through this report), to take urgent appropriate action on the plight of the Tamils in Sri Lanka.”

We have been saying and writing about This. It is not that Tamils did not think that IC might want a regime change.
But the implications are complex. First if thy wanted a regime change and and if it is not about Tamils, there has to be reason. In other words they a looking for their influence in Lanka, not China who funded for Old King’s candidacy. If they have to contend that the regime change has taken place, they have to feel the change.Suppose America would like have a base and that is for what they spent time and money. But what has happened? The Colombo Port has been under the China administration. part of the port is on lease to China. The Island that is being build is for China by China. Usually all governments build that of infrastructure, there always spying instruments remains planted. China has not been shy of any thing. It very courageously brought nuclear submarines to the ports it is leasing. With out any denial, when it owns the new island, it will be used as its semi-base. Lanka’s executive Prime Minister, after issuing challenges, could not stop the island building project. So, when legally China owns the island, Lanka can not stop war planes landing and taking off. (Prime Minister might be thinking after they successfully cheat on the UNHRC case and get it out of UN, then they can take on China. I do not think China is that kind fool and spent billions on a island where in the main land there are lot of places to build entertainment centers. So how the IC, (the West) going to feel the regime change? No party change on new King. No policy change on China with New King. America will not be able to lease a base in Lanka. America can not afford to build and island like China and keep it as its base. From whence the feeling of regime change going to come to west?

So far we have not heard of any such moves taking place, instead the party is divided, one section siding the ruling party by playing second fiddle and the other under NPC CM adopting a strong attitude towards the govt. by bringing the genocide resolution, though a good move but the time is not right.It looks like there are no regular discussions taking place in TNA to put forward a common programme on priorities ,based on current political situation
The Tamils voted out the last govt. for mortgaging the Country to the
Chinese to the tune of 3000 million US dollars and made the country,a slave to China as SL does not have the capacity to pay back these loans
On the other hand , US & India must be thrilled that former ruling party is kept away from China and a reciprocal gesture, the Tamils expect least from India and US to get the current burning issues of the Tamils, settled through their good offices and TGTE should be given this task of communicating with the countries concerned and the UN, including implementation of the UN resolution on war crimes as TNA has failed in their overtures with India and other western countries. Instead TNA, should look after the day to day domestic problems faced by the Tamils. There must be some kind of understanding between the two but not act as one unit as TGTE has extreme views, tho’ they are part and parcel of the Tamil community.
They were forced out of the country due pogroms and ill treatment of the Tamil minority in govt. sectors but they have a say with in the international area. One important factor TNA & TGTE should note is that they should not antagonize the current govt. and move forward with discussions as the govt.is not biased but experienced.

TGTE is focussed that there needs to be a peaceful permanent political solution, and the best solution is to engage the International Community to organise a UN conducted referendum for the Tamils to decide their future destiny.
TNA, the Civil Society, and all Tamil Diaspora Groups need to be honest and now come forward and support collectively and demand referendum as the only option as a permanent solution to this genocide.
The Tamils need to accept TGTE as the democratic political voice of the Tamils, to represent and negotiate a speedy political solution with the international community to the plights of the Tamils in their homeland.
