The UNP Should Be Factored Out Of The Governance Struggle In Sri Lanka

By Springer

We cannot deny that Sri Lanka is in a crisis at the moment. Even if the country does not meet the indicators of a failed state, it is as good as one.

Whatever impression the government would like to give, fiasco upon fiasco is mounting. if we go from the most recent – the illegal impeachment of the CJ, to the totally botched up case of Rizana Nafeek, the mess in the Judiciary before the CJ’s unfortunate fate, to the Z score, to the messed up education system at all levels, to the almost non existent implementation of an LLRC Action Plan, to all types of religious fundamentalism rearing its ugly head, to the increasing violence, the increasing cost of living, to the failed administrative system, to the over employment of graduates and resultant burden on the economy and the final nail in the coffin – the economic down turn.

The economic failures are most serious from the time of the removal of the GSP+ concessions. The country is on a steady economic decline, whatever the Central Bank would like to say. The real growth rate can only be estimated at best as an inflated one is given in the Central Bank Report. Foreign Direct Investment for real growth in enterprise does not seem to be there as most of the money received is invested in infrastructure. In fact the government is investing in infrastructure and external investment is limited to  Chinese assistance for infrastructure yet again and a few others lenders. The economy is also affected by the many strikes and bad fiscal management as evidenced by unhealthy investments and playing around with people’s savings such as EPF.

Let us say for the time being that citizens dream that  the government should correct itself eean at this stage and move on. May not happen, but it is one of the few possible roads ahead.

What is the UNP doing while the country is burning?

President Rajapaksa very successfully defends the impeachment process and the fact that the CJ has to go out. Citizens are made to believe that the Divineguma is the best thing that happened since sliced bread. In fact as found out in the process of a discussion with Heads of Civil Society Organizations today, many of them were unaware that the passing of the Divineguma Bill was not a cake walk for the government. That many amendments had to be made and a few clauses dropped

There has not been a single concentrated communication campaign on the part of the UNP to tell the public what is happening in reality. Citizens need information to make decisions. Citizens need to be made aware of the tremendous power that goes with their sovereignty.

Even during a talk show the UNP makes a very poor argument except for Harsha de Silva, Kabir Hashim, Rosy Senanayake, Ravi karunanayake, Sajith Premadasa and Eran Wickramaratne. But such events are  islolated  and not strategic campaigns that run with a theme and muti faceted communication tools and events to change the mindset of the polity.

So many demonstrations and marches were held both by the Government, Lawyers’ bodies, civil Society Organizations and Trade Unions mainly of the left. However, the UNP could not even mobilise people onto the streets once, for the past 3 months, while all this was happening.

So in the struggle ahead it might be more prudent for citizens to factor the UNP out and for professionals and other Civi Society Groups to take the lead. However bad governance is, still the government is effective though diabolical. The leadership of the UNP has become so ineffective that it is pulling back its own members from doing something progressive.

Many people’s struggles have been successful without an opposition, so let us think about a Civil Society led struggle in the months and years ahead.

UNP factored out? I agree … Because all the UNP’ers who have any concern about the country are already with the government … and they are very powerful ministers in the government …
What about Jillmart JVP, Springer? Can they factored in?

I have to disagree with you Bruno, all those in the UNP if, they loved them selves more than the country are powerful ministers in the government. If they actually went to the government because ,they love the country , during the war, and not for fifty million shitty bucks, and prostitutes, should have not raised their hands for the 18th amendment, and the impeachment.

Everybody (except his really diehard supporters) know that Ranil is totally ineffectual as leader of the Opposition – for whatever reasons he may have. The reasons for the rest of the UNPers going along with his decisions is what’s unfathomable. What will it take to rid the UNP (and more importantly, the Nation) of this wimpy apology for a leader of the Opposition?

This is all a plot by Basil to oust the brother. He started it with Divineguma. Vicious sibling politics and people are caught in it.MR has only guts but no brains

UNP is not a ALTERNATIVE for the incumbent government because there are no differences in the context of their policies on economic, political, governance etc. Also, UNP did the same thing when they are in the power therefore, UNP has no moral right to criticize the government. They are utter failed to give a leadership for any of the burden issues prevailing eg. Private pension fund, impeachment, deteriorating of the education, health, economy and unprecedented corruption and mismanagement of the entire public sector etc. Therefore, paramount need of this hour is to educate the civil society using civil organizations and it helps to form alternative force against government.

UNP is a comotose as long as RW is at the helm. As stated the party has consistently failed to identify itself with the demands and mood of the public. Its contribution towards rule of law and human rights is negligible considering its vascillating behaviour and various duplicitious statements being released by the leader and party secretary. Although the UNP comprises of a good number of educated professional with proven leadership capacity their contribution is hindered due to the retrogressive policies of the leader.

Further it would be good if they inform the public about what is really happening in parliment and government. Public is in the dark due to heavy censorship and disinformation carried out by state media. Inform about the facts rather than cracking stale jokes and making trite statements as the leader is wont to do.

Ranil is making UNP a another 3 Wheel Party.Although he is the leader of the UNP he has no vision, courage, and strategic aggressiveness for situations warranted.Impeachment saga was the case point. Now he has becomes a total vegetable supported by Mahinda.UNP as a party could have done much more to mobilize people against the violation of the constitutions and purported injustices. Instead Ranil did “Ball Room” dancing with Mahinda to the music of “Parliament Is Supreme” to a thinning out UNP audience.Very sad.

well articulated. at a recent meeting Ranil stated that JVP absconded the CJ’s impeachment vote mainly due to a pact JVP has with the government. i wonder if its the JVP who has a pact or the UNP.

    Springer,
Why worry about the UNP. You have a new idol. Even the one who fell from grace (SF) has invited her to join him. Urge the ones you have named as wonder boys and girls of the UNP too to join them, make an effective force and get the ‘professionals and other Civil Society Groups to take the lead.’ That is true democracy at work.

But how naive for you to accuse the government even for Saudi religious zealots chopping Rizana’s head. Surely it’s a case of interpretation of Shariya law. Koran is the word of God and Shariya is Allah’s law. No Muslim can oppose it. And Rizana is a Muslim. That is what a Moulavi said in our TV approving the sentence.

But for others it’s a barbaric act arisen from Muslim fundamentalism al right. Then again Islam is fundamentalist religion by design. Anyway, instead of condemning the beheaders and Moulavis who approve it as fundamentalist Muslims, you have accused Sinhala Buddhists for ‘all types of religious fundamentalism rearing its ugly head’. We challenge you or any one of your elk to tell us details of the types you are talking about.

I remember your type of writing appeared during RanilW’s UNP regime of 2001-3. Writing to the so-called national papers, guys like you have opened our eyes then. And we have realized the folly in electing RanilW and to office and whence send him to the opposition never to return to power again. You have no clue of the opinion of the vast majority in this country. Reading comment by some WOGs here you live in a fools paradise.

    The historical silence
By Gagani Weerakoon and Binoy Suriyaarachchi

In a move that is seen as historic as the impeachment motion against the Chief Justice that was passed with a two-thirds majority in Parliament on Friday, Leader of the Opposition and the United National Party (UNP), Ranil Wickremesinghe, chose to remain silent through the two days of debating.

Several members of the UNP admitted their leader did not utter a word during the debate, although he had reneged on a deal struck with the opposition parties to boycott the debate and the vote on the impeachment, and decided to participate in the debate and the voting. They also accused Wickremesinghe of not taking any timely action over the impeachment motion.

Wickremesinghe’s revealing silence comes on the heels of growing speculations over his shifting allegiance favouring the Rajapaksa regime, and his theatrics over the protest march from the Supreme Court Complex to Parliament, planned by a group of lawyers, to protest the impeachment motion.

According to informed sources, Wickremesinghe, while discouraging the march to Parliament, the supremacy of which he earlier backed, had also demanded that if he is to participate, he should be allowed to lead the march and should also get the credit for its success. However, in a pattern that is becoming increasingly familiar, Wickremesinghe had not participated in the protest march either, leaving his trusted sidekick, Tissa Attanayake, to make the excuses.

The debate on the report by the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) appointed to probe allegations mentioned in the impeachment motion signed by 117 members of the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) was held on 10 and 11 January. The debate began two hours later than scheduled, as the opposition and the government engaged in a verbal duel on the technicalities of the procedure.

Although, Wickremesinghe earlier joined the argument over the technicalities and claimed Parliament must follow the due course outlined in the Standing Orders, which specifies one month time after the submission of the report, which had not been tabled in Parliament, he however, avoided making any comments for or against the impeachment motion, during the debate. The omission had taken many by surprise, for given his constitutional acumen, his avowed commitment to democratic freedoms, and his role as the Leader of the Opposition, he was deemed the ideal person to argue the case against the government motion.

UNP Western Provincial Councillor, Shiral Lakthilaka, said a golden opportunity to flay the government was unfortunately wasted, due to Wickremesinghe‘s double standards, over the impeachment motion against the Chief Justice.

He pointed out that the opposition could have taken a strong stance and supported the pro-Chief Justice faction, if Wickremesinghe had motivated and handled the party members well and accused Wickremesinghe of being involved in a conspiracy to clandestinely support the government’s moves. “This is what we call hunting with the wolf and sleeping with bunnies,” he said. UNP Puttalam District Parliamentarian, Palitha Range Bandara, said Wickremesinghe had also boycotted the protest organized in Hulftsdorp on Friday (11), demanding that the impeachment be revoked or a fair trial be conducted against the Chief Justice.

babsy, Your kilometers long harangue knows no North Pole or Sough Pole, nor any entry and exit points and it just beats the deer skin hanging on the wall! The self-styled “Springer” and you are the same typed “king today beggar tomorrow” people without any knowledge of the political environment and the political pulse of the people-the people are as yet dead, they are being brainwashed 24/7 by lie-factory medias, they still harbor the happy memories of a savior king who vanquished the LTTE devil, they are still afraid of an international ghost swallowing this hallowed land of their and their ancestors’’ land, MR is the protector of this unique ancient nation of Lion Origin with Buddhist values (where the fucking hell it really exists they don’t know in earnest as evident by their behavior!), Rs. 500 + one rice packet + ¼ bottle of moonshine when offered they are still ready by the thousands and busload-fulls with clubs brick bats and like missiles to rally around MR against their own welfare and rights! You seem never let go your bankrupt thought that UNP did not come to the courts to show solidarity with CJ. If you want you can loiter around the court complex and show your stupid solidarity to whoever you like. But UNP has no such typhoid fever as you do to show solidarity to CJ because in the eyes of UNP she is no angel, just an individual and also one who contributed to the destruction of the country’s democracy by consenting with the regime, legalizing 18A, destroying UNP by unjustified court orders etc. What UNP stands for is the independence of the judiciary and it does not mean UNP must sleep with dogs like you and stand up with fleas! UNP is fully aware that CJ had a questionable past, events driven rectified and correct present, now having a fighting spirit for a just cause which the backboneless males must be ashamed of but that his constitutional crisis cannot be solved by marching from Aluthkade to wherever it is! The only solution is the complete obliteration of this Rajapaksha regime with the willing participation of the majority local masses and most importantly that of the international community. It is people like you who created this regime-the media whores who invaded the minds of ignorant people with their anti-facts, artists who just look clowns and also include prostitutes, the stupid professionals who worshipped the Mahinda Chinthanaya as world’s best economic theory, these lawyers who shamelessly swarmed around MR for reasons best known to them alone, the hell and lie happy Buddhist monks who love Duty Free car permits, chicken meat sear fish aphrodisiac and young boys and girls and others including general masses who are very happy and alive and kicking when their nerve endings leading to where their racism, nationalism, religious superiority and ethical violence is stimulated! It is you who contributed to the buildup of the “Pancha Maha Balawegaya” under the racist SWRDB and it is this unholy shit alliance that has concocted this regime of fools and rabble. So instead of pointing fingers at Ranil you do your homework and begin start your self-styled “Spring” and get others to rally around it if you are in a hurry to topple the regime! At the moment UNP does not intend to launch a “Spring” of any sort but they will aim for the next election to form the UNP government.

this is a poorly written piece on a very relevant topic. there is no doubt, UNP under its current crop of individuals and groups at the “top” are failing the voting public in several ways. Unfortunately this piece is sloppy and in sinhala (especially small blogs) web media this is discussed in a much more articulate and pointed level including the challenges faced by non parliamentary groups also referred to in this piece ( civil society groups and the section of the public who are petty beneficiaries of a rotten system and how to mobilise them etc;) level and I hope in Tamil too.

I just heard that a “Boycott Ranil Wickramasinghe” campaign in on!
Citizens of Lanka should just ignore Ranil Wickramasinhe and his political stooges who are still inventing silly procedural points to negate the impeachment, when it is clearly too late and what is really required is to fight the regime in a different forum though education of the citizens and a people’s movement against dictatorship.
The time has come to ignore Ranil and his absurd vision which is to destroy the country in order to replaced Rajapakse as the new dictator of Lanka all the time enjoying “parlimentary privileges” in the parliament of morons, dead leftist geriatrics, thieves and thugs while living off the Lankan tax payer.
Time to treat Ranil WIckramasinghe as dead, just as the lawyers have refused to acknowledge the impeachment of the CJ by the corrupt clown Mahinda Rajapassa who fancies himself Dictator of Lanka!
The two dictators should be ignored as part of a non-violent campaign of resistance against the culture of dictatorship evident in the country’s political culture and exemplified by the partnership between the corrupt clowns: Mahind Rajapakse and Ranil Wickramasinghe and their respective families.

THE UNP MUST CALL FOR THE IMPEACHMENT OF CHAMAL RAJAPKSE and MAHINDA RAJAPKSE and start a campaign to educate the people of the CONSTITUTIONAL CRISIS.

Mahinda and Chamal Rajapakse have run a KANGAROO COURT in parliament AND IMPEACHED THE CHIEF JUSTICE. In so doing they have brought great harm and disrepute to the judiciary and legislature and executive office and violated the trust of the sovereign people of Lanka who had elected them for a limited time.

Chamal Rajapakse and Mahinda Rajapakse must be IMPEACHED!

    Springer,

Good suggestion. Many people’s struggles have been successful without as opposition. Good example is Arab spring. Before this message goes to the masses, they should be educated about the non functioning opposition in SL especially UNP and it’s leader Ranil Wickremasinnghe. Let Civil Society and other professionals let the struggle in the month and years to come. Otherwise nobody will be servived to see what happen to Sri Lanka.

What a brat self-styled Springer! This is not a Springer bat a bootlicker of MARA! He is on the payroll of MARA and has already started the disruption work of the budding and mounting monumental resistance and antagonism against his paymaster regime! This traitor is advocating a Sri Lanka Spring revolving around a few fugitive political splinters like Rosy, Sajith and implied SF, SN de Silva et al!

This bugger says “… However, the UNP could not even mobilise people onto the streets once, for the past 3 months, while all this was happening…”

This loiterer seems to be nobody who plans to live the coming season on the rice packets, moonshine and few bucks that would be distributed by the regime when mobilizing people for their Mararized Protests. The more protests the merrier!

By the way, what did you, these judges and lawyers, your other “Springers” et al do when mararized courts delivered assassination orders against UNP!!!? Didn’t you realize at that time that when the opposition of the country is wiped out by the very judiciary in collusion with the Legislator and the Executive it will definitely turn out results of destruction for all? This is your harvest season! So reap it! There is no opposition to save you because you all through your genetic and adamant ignorance destroyed the niche, the capacity, the foothold, the base, the conceptual assets, the democratic role, constitutional obligation and the emotional assets UNP had in the minds of the democratic citizenry. You are the upshot of the mararized media whores who are fornicating themselves and disseminating falsehoods throughout the country. You stupid fucker, why don’t you write about them the media whores who are brainwashing the stupid masses in the country by the regime’s diabolical lies harangued through their filthy brats’ and bitches’, news telecast after news telecast under various lie-brands like “live at 8”, “News First” etc. etc.? Why don’t you see the print media prostitutes circulating the Rajapaksha dystopia throughout the country? You the soi-disant Springer claim and advocate to start a Sri Lanka Spring but look at the fabric of your mud article: its heading is anti UNP, its entry elucidates the actual situation, pastes a picture of isolation and internal conflicts with ulterior motives, quietly walks the reader into at loggerheads, strife, antagonism with the party leader and then strands him in uncharted territory dangling the illusion of a mythical “Spring”! The sick nonsense thought of this imbecile’s brat “Spring” is summed up in the caption “The UNP Should Be Factored Out Of The Governance Struggle In Sri Lanka”!!!! Are these the people that people must look to guide themselves out of this crisis or will these people send the country to the fire from the frying pan?

      Silva ,
moron like you see this sort of article is a piece of shit , even a child in SL knows what sort of a monster MR is, so repeating about MR ‘s misdemeanors over and over is quite futile , now time is ripe to expose the double agent the clown RW and his paid stooges like you .

        srilal,

This is a problem with your breeding,[Edited out] Double Agent!? Yes, during the past several days we have noticed the Double Agents like you mutts have been activated by MARA’s dollars! How much are you paid to write this shit? You [Edited out], you can’t chase away even a pack of astray dogs by your lunatic methods! You [Edited out] wants to topple the regime, but how? Who comes to the road? Who speaks against the regime? Does a single media [Edited out] in the country drops a drop of saliva against the regime? You stupid [Edited out], where were you today while CJ was [Edited out] from her official residence and a maggot was implanted? I did not see you there with your harangued on-the-road-master plan to send the despot to hell. This is our observation during the past several days: a bunch of penniless, dollar-happy, disgraceful and shameless traitors like you who are prepared to fornicate even your mothers, wives and daughters to satiate your voracious greed for arrack and prostitutes are writing these utter myths, lies and defamations against Ranil to pay for the muck you eat from the regime! You are the ones who have taken over the mudslinging campaign from Killi Maharaja of Sirasa media [Edited out] who has deplorably failed to achieve any results from his smear campaign! A protagonist of a revolution would never hold or say the utterly deranged things you all are writing, so we are safely ruling out your type of [Edited out] to be of no validity or assistance for a revolution against the regime. Ranil will decide when to launch the assault when ordinary buffalos of this country have realized the true barrier of nobodies like you and after they have [Edited out] you all to hell! When and if they do need Ranil he will come to their rescue, otherwise he will not render him a joker like you neither do we have any interest in endangering our lives on behalf of the [Edited out] like you!

It is Ranil who had spotted the flaw in the impeachment resolution presented to the President and he did it just before the resolution was put to vote. Speaker, Constable Chamal, compalined as to why the uNP did not point that out earlier and Joseph Michael stated that it was the government’s job to spot that.
    Well-timed briiliance, Ranil!

Why people vote for Mahinda is the same reason why the UNP cannot get ranil out !The whole system is a mess with those who get to the top holding all the cards. we the people must think deeply and more important reflect on ourselves before we get into these things. For example recently several thousand UNPs voted for Ranil. Why? Are they fit and proper people to make that choice ? If they answer yes, can they say that the millions who vote for mahinda are fit and proper voters ? Then how about the million or so tamils who followed prabakaran so blindly ? Even when things got so bad in the North they still believed in him.Thousands gave their lives away for a half educated gangster like prabakaran. So how mature and intelligent are the people of this country? I think of all, the stupidest are Ranil’s followers because they even think they are smarter than the rest.

I just noticed tilak dissanayakes comment. It might be an alias for Ranil’s ambitious wife because he has so few supporters today. Even if what tilak is saying is true( which I dont believe at all) what did ranil’s cleverness in picking some technicality achieve ? The government still went ahead and impeached the CJ ! This has been his leadership for the last 25 years. Dont you think we have suffered enough with this jonna

Really a pathetic display of opposition politics by the UNP to counterpoise the callous and undemocratic governance of the ruling coalition under MR. Ranil should understand that his mode of politics has long vanished from this country and unless he is savvy to the changes and produces an astuteness required in a leader to fathom correctly his colleagues in the team and people at large his dreams of capturing power from the present ruling party will always remain a dream.

Its time for Ranil and UNP to be shunned by Sri Lankans. Ranil has to go and UNP should not be supported by any individual or business. Its time for a new democratic party to be established in Sri Lanka by the professionals, not politicians, whom we all know why they have become politicians.

It has taken ages for your readers to realize what a sissy,
messy and arrogant opposition leader is Ranil Wickremesinghe.
He is what Quisling was in UK. He has sold his soul, compromised
all principles and mortgaged the UNP to the Rajapaksas. A few
jokers are backing him for they eat the crumbs that fall off his
table. A few others are backing him for the scintillating
    delights they get.

Your readers are yet to realize on more important thing. Why has it
not occurred to all of you that Ranil is sustained as leader of the
opposition with tax payer’s money. He travels abroad first class. He stays in five star hotels. He is treated like a cabinet minister by
    sri lanka envoys overases.

Occasionally he does some service for the country. Sometimes he is
accompanied by UNP International Affairs Advisor Sagala Ratnayake.
They discuss Sri Lanka international relations during their travel and
that helps Wickremesinghe bring out issues in Parliament. This week the
UNP said that the impeachment motion on the Chief Justice would pave
the way for foreign intervention. If not for these discussions, he would know and the country would not have known. Hats off to this top
pin addiya. A one party, one family rule has arrived!!! Bravo Sri Lanka. – Aristotle Onasis

Haa..Haaa. Haa!!!! You all pakis donkeys are berating Ranil for not hanging his neck under the guillotine to save you fools today! My question is why must he, because it is buffalos like you who casted vote for MARA and ate kiribath election after election putting this uneducated Moda Chuun King in the driver’s seat! You proudly lighted fire crackers, celebrated and paraded proudly jeering at Ranil and UNPers led by the king of fools! It is your vote that has given him power and therefore it is you who are responsible for what MR does and not RW! Ranil is not in a hurry and he is now enjoying watching you all reaping the harvest of your kurakkan farm where Rajapaksha animals are grazing!

Silva I think you must be ranil himself for the self satisfied way in which you argue.Yes everybody has a stupid side. I think those who can admit it are a little more advance that chaps like silva who just split hairs thinking they are smart. If you take that three wheel driver who became the mayor of colombo because of ranils stupid assessment of the situation is much smarter than your Mr beans.Who is smarter milinda moragoda or ranil? Prabakaran or ranil ? mahinda or ranil ? Chandrika or ranil ?the list is endless. Mr Silva you should not argue with me. just wonder where Mr beans has led his followers to ?

Mr. carlton, Milinda M!!? Didn’t you notice whose serpent he was? Had the Duminda saga not happened Milinda is the Colombo Mayor today under MR regime! I see you have your customized meaning for “smart” and you have included all the traitors of the country and the people as “smart” people including the mother of all traitors MR! And so you want Ranil to be “smart” along the lines of your liking and if he is not, he is a loser and you are looking for another “smart” guy! How about Sajith Mallee? Or Karu, Mathree Guneratne, SF etc.? Aaa, Rosy!! How about her? You have left out more smarter people from your list: the Sakvithi Ranasinghe, Danduwam Mudalali, Gotabaya Rajapaksha, Duminda Silva! What about Dr. Mervyn Silva? Basil!!!? He just finished removing CJ and passing Divinasuma to handle billions bucks himself!! And the “smart” Samurdhi people went in processions holding placards and crying slogans “we..want..Divinaguma..!, we..want..Divinasuma..!!!!! What is your assessment of that cunt-happy provincial councilor Saruwage Sunil who celebrated raping of 100th or 200th girl? Don’t you think they are smarter than others? And these smart people in your opinion and preference have ushered this country to its present Wonder of Asia status!! Mr. carlton, I am amazed by your “smartness”!!!! I feel very impatient now to export Ranil dude to a foreign country as “political junk for disposal!!!!”

I think it is inappropriate to criticize Ranil or the UNP at this stage. Thilak Dissanayake has correctly pointed out a very clever intrusion by Ranil during the parliamentary resolution stage. What has really happened is that the resolution presented to MR had nothing to do with a request for impeachment. It had been the earlier resolution calling for the appointment of a PSC! The UNP kept this knowledge in its bag and brought it with perfect timing.
One has to remember that Ranil is coming from the fox JR’s lineage. Infact Prabhkaran had described him as a dangerous fox.
It may be that Ranil and his party is following Sun Tzu’s stragetic advise in military war:”NEVER INTERRUPT YOUR ENEMY WHEN HE IS MAKING A MISTAKE.” There is little point in running on the streets at this stage.
I therefore beg to disagree with this writer

I just saw the remarks by Nirosh. I was not sure whether to laugh
or cry. Foremost, he has reflected an unannounced policy of the UNP –
being caste and community minded. I am no Paki. If I was one, I would
not have been ashamed. But I am not. I am a Sri Lankan citizen by descent. My family have all voted for the UNP over the years but have,
including myself, boycotted polls. It is only because Ranil Wickremesinghe has let us all down.
If you are in Colombo, Nirosh you should have heard what Hudson Samarasinghe said on SLBC about Ranil today. Media is full of reports saying that they should take to streets. It was only days earlier, he did not want a single MP to go to the Court of Appeal. Why take to the streets now? If it is to beg for alms, he need not. The pin adiya has it from the taxpayer.

Nirosh, without trying to cast aspersions on whether they are Indians or Pakis, issues totally irrelevant, answer the issues. Are you one of
those who are beneficiary of those scintillating delights? I won’t blame you if you want a mouthful every now and then. But do not do it at the expensive of the country and the people, Nirosh boy. Grow up!!

Asker Mohiuddin, carlton, srilal et al, pakis donkeys have nothing to do with Pakistanis, the word qualifies the other further-a donkey gone nuts! So, you are a fan of SLBC Hadu Samaraya! No wonder your brain is this brilliant and you cast no vote for UNP! Why the hell do you at all have any dealings in politics! Before you talk about UNP go and get rid of that bloody [Edited out] Hakeem, the nationless, religion-less, policy-less, shameless [Edited out]! Bird brainers like you think when every Dick Tom and Harry get down to the streets and march towards the bullet of the STF and Police raising their sarongs and revealing their testicles every problem of this country can be solved! I am giving this single answer to all the bastards whose only revolution is criticizing Ranil but not doing anything even remotely related to revolution: despite the moronic claims of the [Edited out] here Ranil is the legitimate leader of the legitimate opposition. Ranil is the actual president of this country had that Pirabaharan [Edited out] not prevented Tamils from voting, taking millions of rupees from MARA. UNP is still the only opposition political party with a millions of vote base. The leader of such a party will not act on the whims and fancies of losers like you but acts logically, democratically, reasonably and responsibly. One day he must answer not only the people, the rule of law, every citizen of this country but the international bodies people and countries as well. If as you all nobody [Edited out] are grating he was to act on the spur of the moment he together with quite a number of people would have been dead meat on the roads! And this is what you all cocksuckers want to happen because after that there will be no one with brains to rule this country and Rajapakshas and you fools can swallow this country pythons! One can argue with thousand intelligent people but one of you mutts is not answered even by thousand wise men because you sons of bastards never understand anything that is written in response to your utter stupidities. Like a witch doctor practicing a sorcery spell in his backyard you all are repeating the same diatribe endlessly until you go mad like a lunatic! By the way, what da [Edited out] are you so worried about Rani and all his ill-traits? Why can’t you come to the streets and chase this regime or at least give an example how to do it? There are several dozens of various named coconut donkeys advocating and criticizing Ranil on how to revolt and topple the regime which means you know all about these things and you can even advise Ranil too how to do it properly! So then why didn’t you show up at Aluthkade doday and smashed all the barriers and barricades and attacked the STF and Police and supported the handful of lawyers protesting there?

Mr/Ms Silva, We won’t be able to edit your comments in future if you continuously abuse this forum – CT

CT – Yes, I understand the conflict you face with your comments policy and the undeniable facts mixed with abuse which I do not like to write too. What made me use the kind is my observing the decency-clad, refinement-showcased yet murderous lies these people are fabricating. The Goebbels theory however delicious when swallowed would definitely default to calamity and these entities are leading the country to complete failure while only a handful enjoy all the luxuries and benefits of the collective assets of the country.

We have decently and wonderfully been educated and entertained by the “Silver Tongue of Asia”, enthralled by noble and stratospheric promises of “Rice from moon”, the strongest of resolves “we will even eat fodder if she tells us to”, hitherto best economic policy “Mahinda Chinthanaya” and the most solemn promise a recent statesman ever gave by “kissing the tar strip of BIA”! Over and throughout 2500 years of history there is no nation on this earth who have practiced the greatest religion on this earth-every morning, every evening, every poya day, every special occasion including the duplicate CJ sworn-in ceremony yesterday than this Sinhala Buddhist nation! How many times have these perfect and immaculate entities theorizing correction theories over cyber space for Ranil repeated like a manthra the precept dealing with “lying” yet could it be seen to practice by them? Hence seeing their low level of morality the distinction between civility and rowdiness narrowed down to vulgarity-circumstances, historical facts and trends driven!

CT has been doing an admirable service as an interactive cyber media infrastructure provider liberally allowing almost all comments except the abusive to the best possible extent. I really do appreciate your contribution and efforts. You are a strong proponent of journalistic awards and I wish you success in all your worthy endeavors! One unfortunate observation that has emerged is that there has been a lack of intelligent, balanced, resourceful and progressive people who could contribute to the advancement of our knowledge, perceptions and worldview. Instead of the bungling comments of the dabbling rabbles had there been honest and grass-root-level-sprung contributions this playing field of CT would have been more interesting and referential.

Hey Silva dude , what a load of BS is this , CT clearly states , if you continue to abuse their own territory you will be kicked out , very simple , got it ? so Don’t try to butter up CT . CT editors are professionals and they know what they are talking about !

srilal, Who gave you beetles? Who asked for your orifice here? This is the nature of born mutts who cannot give up their paternally and maternally inherited ill-bread habit of wanting to suck anything they think would satiate their ugly perverted desires! By the way what happened to your operation-chase-away-Ranil? Have you started a new project on peeping through key holes and unsolicited ass licking? You useless beggar, get this matter well into your bird brain, I don’t care a shit whether CT posts my comments or not. I am not a beggar like you. If CT does not want it I am not going to suck their … like you. I have other works to do. Observing suckers like you suffering in the hell of your own creation too is something sometimes I can get wicked pleasure because it is you who are responsible for all this. I am against this regime because of my blood connection to this country. However, I often think MARA is the ideal mutt that perfectly suits jokers like you.

You grate about professional editors in CT and kicking out hence I challenge CT to kick out this beggar srilal from their forums based on the facts in the comments written by this mutt and me displaying whether their professionalism is prepared to serve this country or whether they are happy to aid and abet with unprincipled bastards like srilal who are obsessed with destroying the UNP and giving oxygen to this dying regime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well silva, dont customize ranil’s stupidity to mean noble. You know all the tricks he tries including spreading false stories about opponents, getting foreign countries to attack us,keeping all donations to the UNP under his mattress, promoting faggarts to party positions , getting people like late lasantha to slander opponents like Karu. We know all about him. All those I gave like taxi driver, prabakaran , milinda etc were people he tried to take for a ride but back fired. Are you saying that you want ranil for ever so that you can eat his shit for good ?

The UNP should and must be factored in, not out; the UNP’s current leader should and must be factored out, not in.

Ha..ha.. ha..! Dayan, the quack doctor of all linguistic and twist theories!!! I saw you messing in the maze and ironed out your difference to a snack-sized package, encountered by Mr. Austin Fernando. How is the progress now, have you submitted your refined action plan to MR for being considered to be integrated in Wonder of Asia Action Plan or the Road Map that GLP marathones from time to time between US and here? Or is it that the lice knows the dog is sinking and therefore it enters the dog fight over “The UNP should and must be factored in, not out; the UNP’s current leader should and must be factored out, not in”!!! So typically Dayan!

Dayan, you know why you hate and fears Ranil. When the pavement banana and lavariya seller became the president he wanted several crutches and you fitted on and enjoyed all the benefits and luxeries a man with a few excessive veins on the brain exist could. But Ranil is not that type, he can do without you, he knows how to do and get things done, he has the statesmanship, recognition, prestige and the brains which most of the contemporary people lack. It is only among fools that you can shine becuase they must look to you for help, diplomacy, presentations at forums etc. whcich is exactly why you want Ranil out. You want to be the king behind the kings chair! Don’t worry everybody has dreams, and yours is one!

Dayan as you know i’m a big critic of you and never hesitate to criticize your past actions , of course with reasons , but this time round i have to admit you are dead right on RW , whatever the reasons may be , your reading on RW is spot on. Well done.

Surprise, surprise! This may be the reason why since of late there is a plethora of misinformation campaign against Ranil! Yes, only a mental pervert with hyper-lie activity can inundate with this type of bullshit!

Compared to the Zombie Jamboree that goes as the Govt, Ranil W is no fool, in a way. He knows if the Govt falls and if he has to take over it will be a skeletal frame he will inherit. The job of his administration then will be to go abegging to pay Interest and Capital for the flood of loans taken by the Rajapakses. His Govt will have to face one volcano to the next. He has better sense than this. Pity, men like Long John, Dr JJ, Jayawickrema, Kiriella will die of old age. In addition to his dream of waiting for the ripe mango to fall on his lap, he probably wants to watch total confusion when the economy collapses and remind the Sinhala electorate “didn’t I warn you?” Like Charles de Gaulle found himself in the early 1960s – for the entire country (may not include the Tamil Nation) to plead for him to step in and save the country. The Rajapakses would have moved into the US with their accumulated loot to live happily thereafter in that great land of opportunity.
