TNA On Draft Resolution: Statement By TNA Leader Sampanthan And NPC Chief Justice Wigneswaran

The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) has given careful consideration to the draft resolution on Sri Lanka proposed at the 25th sessions of the Human Rights Council by the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Montenegro, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Mauritius. The TNA is committed to the achievement of permanent peace and reconciliation in Sri Lanka, which will enable all Peoples in Sri Lanka to live with dignity, equality and justice. We believe that tangible progress on accountability and genuine reconciliation are necessary ingredients to the achievement of a peaceful, united Sri Lanka. To this end, it is paramount that the truth should be ascertained, an acceptable political solution evolved and swift action taken to terminate and reverse the harmful trajectory on which the government has set the country.

Wigneswaran and Sambanthan

Wigneswaran and Sambanthan

Of particular concern to the Tamil people is the mass scale appropriation of land by the military, the overbearing presence of the military in civilian life, and the increasing reports of sexual violence targeting Tamil women in the North and East. The Sri Lankan government is also aggressively engaged in changing the demographic composition of the Northern and Eastern provinces and debasing the cultural and linguistic identities of these areas. These actions do not create a conducive atmosphere for reconciliation and do not inspire the confidence of the Tamil people in the state. Further, the government has colluded in and presided over an appalling increase in religious violence and intimidation of religious minorities. The breakdown of the rule of law and independence of the judiciary has exacerbated these problems by depriving victims of the protection of the law.

We therefore welcome the fact that the draft resolution envisages the establishment of an international investigation led by the High Commissioner for Human Rights, both in respect of war-time abuses committed by both sides and violations of human rights throughout the country since the end of the war. We look forward to the co-sponsors effecting revisions to the draft over the following weeks that will clarify and strengthen the scope of the forthcoming investigation. We will remain engaged with the international community to this end, and also to ensure that the outcome of the resolution will be overwhelmingly positive for all Sri Lankans, particularly for victims of grave abuses committed during and after the war.

The passage of a resolution on the lines of the draft under consideration will be a significant next step by the Human Rights Council toward reconciliation and accountability in Sri Lanka. The TNA will continue to urge the international community to move expeditiously towards mandating an international commission of inquiry in respect of past violations committed by both sides as well as ongoing violations throughout the country.

R. Sampanthan – Leader, Tamil National Alliance and Justice C. V. Wigneswaran – Chief Minister, Northern Province

Sampanthan didn’t have the backbone to stand up even for himself in parliament, let alone for the people who elected him. He only stood up to say the LTTE was the sole representative of the Tamils. This coward didn’t have the guts to criticize the LTTE when it was killing his own people, recruiting their children for cannon fodder. He didn’t speak out even when his colleagues in TULF were murdered by the Tigers. He didn’t open his dirty mouth when the LTTE denied Tamil people their right to vote in elections and even cut off their fingers for doing so. This man backstabbed Chandrika in parliament after promising her the previous night to support her package to solve the ethnic issue. So this rogue Sampanthan has no right today to talk about Geneva.

” Sampanthan didn’t have the backbone to stand up even for himself in parliament, …”

It shows that you have not listened to his speeches.

Agreed. The truth should be ascertained, an acceptable political solution evolved and swift action taken.

The truth=after 30years of mayhem by the LTTE, killing at least 50000 innocent civilians, the war ended. At the end of the war, some cvilians kept as human shields by the coward Pirapakaran were probably killed. No one knows the numbers, may be a few thousand or more.

Political solution= has been evolved. Now the Tamils can run their affairs like any other region of SL and they should get on with it.

Swift action needed= Sampanthan and Wisvalingam getthose facts in to their thick old heads.

    TNA statement states

“both in respect of war-time abuses committed by both sides and violations of human rights throughout the country since the end of the war.”

This statement does not go the whole hog.

It deliberately avoided or shorten the period of investigation.

The investigation should cover all war crimes committed by all parties from 5th April 1971 to date including LTTE, EPRLF, JVP, IPKF, Armed forces, Police, home guards, other armed Tamil groups, paramilitaries, party thugs, ………

This is not a honest statement.

“This is not a honest statement.”

      Plausible!

Good as a starter in a non starting environment where one party or the other and almost all are culpable.

Human rights is a tough nut to crack.

Why should decent law abiding Tamil’s dignity get hurt when tigers were defeated?

Crimea showed how much a self governing authority is dangerous, sorry we didn’t defeat the armed separatists to offer the same demands to the non-armed separatists.

“we didn’t defeat the armed separatists to offer the same demands to the non-armed separatists.”

You didn’t defeat the armed separatists. Not only India and the West did the ground work but provided political cover to save your leaders from proper Independent International Investigation.

Above all VP won the war for you.

“The passage of a resolution on the lines of the draft under consideration will be a significant next step by the Human Rights Council toward reconciliation and accountability in Sri Lanka.”

Only the future Hindu Indian Government can assure and force peace to prevail on Lanka as it did before 1948 not the cowboys or poodles.

Hindu India did it before for the Muslim Bengali at great cost but more successful than Egypt, Libya, Syria,Iraq, that it can do it again; repeat from air only- the point is can the Tamils be trusted or are they as stupid as the sihala??

To rely on the Americans to do a job except sell arms, interfere and boss over local affairs, is utter stupidity that the world is yet to get to grips with.

Sri Lanka’s largest trading partner is the EU not US.

Russia’s largest trading partner is EU not US and the American poodle UK can’t afford to sanction Russia’s holding stock at London for the financial market would collapse.

It’s all US hyped by the Jewish controlled world media and the >700 US bases worldwide that no one government questions because the US has several banana republics like Graft Lanka, Graft India.

Mahinda Rajapakse is torn between the ideal and the reality. The ideal is to follow the advise of the world in settling with the Lankan Tamils. And that includes giving into the Tamil demand of an independent inquiry of the blood-bath of civilians in May 2009. The ideal will give him back the peace and normalcy he requires to enjoy the mindless plunder of the country under the Rajapakse family. But the reality is that will expose the real truth of what happened to civilians in 5/09 – the actual numbers killed (from zero to 7,000 to 40,000 and that is not counting the missing of over a lakh) Who used artillery and mortars against civilian concentrations; Who bombed churches, hospitals, schools from the air and so forth. There is room to believe the Tigers too killed many Tamils in the latter stages. Rajapakse doing the ideal thing will result in many of the then army high-ups – now in various cushy positions overseas or locally – and the present oversized army turning against them. Having turned the army to the uncontrollable level of Pakistan the Rajapakses find themselves in an unenviable position. That is the Rajapakse dilemma.

One thing is certain. The chauvinist anti-Tamil Rajapakses are not going to provide the necessary cooperation or finances for the NPC to function effectively until their knuckles are wrapped by India and the international community. They have done little since the TNA won the NPC. This is not to deny the roads, the rail lines, electricity, water and a few other development work in the North in recent times. But what the people want more is a normal, safe, peaceful life run by them characterised by economic growth. The Rajapakses refuse this – in different ways and pretexts.

“The TNA is committed to the achievement of permanent peace and reconciliation in Sri Lanka”,

-If the idiot Sammanthan is really committed to permanent peace,he should have accepted Indo-Srilanka accord and saved the lives of innocent people. Tamil media may not expose his treachery, but the people will definitely realize one day and spit on his face.

-This idiot Sammanthan got bullet proof car and other luxuries from Chandrika, but refused to support the peace proposal in august 2000.Even the international police man America will not get us such an excellent solution.People will definitely come to know that he is a TRAITOR.

-If Mr.wigneswaran is really committed to peace, let him instruct his ministers like Ainkaranesan to accept the national flag.Whether we like it not,we have to live in Srilanka and that is the national flag.

-If Mr.W is really committed to peace,he wont call Prapakaran a great hero .

-If Mr.W is really committed to peace,he wont plant trees on Maaveerar day.

As long as Tamil leaders spout racial hatred among the Tamil people for their political benefit there wont be peace in SL.

It appears the good justice will sign any document even it is short of a joke. Just last week he signed a petition calling for an Independent Intl’ Investigation. This week he is happy with massaging his lots utter failure by calling the most watered down proposal as International investigation.

TNA’s stand on this resolution is absolutely right and necessary at this time of point. TNA represent Tamils and it should reflect the interest of Tamils. The international community rightly or wrongly involved in this struggle since 1983. State Terrorism, LTTE Terrorism, Paramilitary Terrorism are part and partial of the Tamil problem. India’s involvement in training the Tamil youths, Peace Talks in Dimpu, Rajiv-JR accord, Banning of LTTE by International Community, Oslo peace talks between LTTE and Sri Lanka, involvement of India, China and International community to eliminate LTTE, UN resolution etc are international dimensions related to Tamil problem. We cannot selectively argue that some of the actions are good and some of the actions are bad.

What is important is that violence should be end and justice should be done and peace should prevail. Tamils still strongly feel that international community should continue its effort until justice is done.

what is needed at present is the law and order to be in place. whether it is NE or South of SL. the country has lost its credibility of been law abiding and prevalence of justice. it is not common only for one segment of the community.

what NE Demanding is not reasonable when the rest of Tamil population enjoying the life in the south with the current system. the civil life in NE should be normalized eventually but it needs time. since there are many whos eyeing to reestablish fractions of terrorism with the help of remaining pro LTTE supporters, the government control should have a firm grip for some foreseeable future. if the LAW and order is firm in the country and the judicial system is not corrupt then any one should be able to live in harmony. since there will be a justice for the needy.

True we have a law and order issue but isn’t it common to most developing nations? Sri Lanka came first in the recent Rule of law index in south Asia. Making it sound like Sri Lanka is the only country with issues of rule of law is so inaccurate.

LTTE proxy TNA Leader is on record saying “We worked with the LTTE to bring Politcal change”.

This working relationship goes back as far as 2001.

Are the suicide bombings, massacre of Muslims, killing of Buddhist monks, child soldiers, 300,000 hostages and various other atrocities part of this working relationship?.

Is the LTTE proxy TNA leader agreeing to corporate with this “Pillai Probe” to investigate his and the other Vallalas part in this working relationship?..

Or has he already got an assurance from the sponsors that he and his Vellala outfit would be exempted and the blame would be totally on the dead Tigers, for the atrocities committed on the innocent Srilankan inhabitants from 2001 to Nanthikdal?..

      K.A Sumanasekera

“Are the suicide bombings, massacre of Muslims, killing of Buddhist monks, child soldiers, 300,000 hostages and various other atrocities part of this working relationship?.”

You should ask KP this question for supplying lethal bomb making chemicals, guns, ammunition, cells, mortars, ………

You should ask Karuna and Pillayan about the massacre of Muslims, ……

You should ask Pillyan about child soldiers for he was once a child soldier and later became principle recruitment officer in the East.

Premadasa and MR had had a great working relationship with VP. The weapons that were supplied to VP by Premadasa were used to kill Sinhalese as well as Tamils.

Could you find out from MR how much did he pay VP to get elected. The money was used to terrorize people and financed a war against the people.

The answer you are looking for is in front of you. Look little beyond your nose.

        Dear Native,

…”Rajapaksa gave Veluppillai Prabakaran LKR 500 Million at the 2005 Election. .

This allegation was made on stage in front of “thousands of” “Intelligentsia” at a election rally by the ex General only a week ago.

And this is the same General , who was the chosen one of the TNA, Diaspora, ,UNP , the Aglican’s and the Elite in Srilanka. in 2010,

And the rally was in the one time UNP heartland , the Western Province .

        How did you miss that?….

Shouldn’t this be also included in the US draft of Ms Pillai’s investigation?..Sorry inquisition ????

Tamils supported and Financed LTTE barbarians brutal in all the times.. Tamils who still support eelam and propaganda must kill like this and hang.. Nothing wrong with these videos as Tamil brutality cannot filmed and show to the world.. I challenge, if someone upload entire video which has sexual abuses , then that should be investigated, to: Tamil barbarian who read this news article like flesh meet ” sexual abuse by single or group of soldiers cannot be categorize war crime” in it in international law & should be court Marshall or in civilian court.. Bring us correct evinces.. this is just a video which show killed LTTE barbarian , IF you recall you memory there were incidents during The US army occupation in Iraq personal whom did sexual abuse were produced to military court.. and no top commander or the US president accused for war crimes.. Read and understand what is a war crime….. If you need credible investigation you must provide better evidences rather that wasting out time, CH4 doing what they paying for

Sinhala communalism caused injustice to the Tamils, depriving serveral of their rights, it caused the conflict leading to the deprived Tamil youths becoming militants operating in different groups finally the LTTE taking upto arms and confronting the Govt. and demanding for a separate state for the Tamils. Tamils who left the country in the circumstances and struggled and earned a better life in foreign countries took it up as their duty to support the LTTE who are fighting for the freedom of their people. That is in short the history. So who was the cause for everything is clear.
