Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe requested his supporters to pity candidates of the UPFA as they would be reborn as dogs and crows.
“According to President Sirisena those who rob the country’s property will be reborn as dogs and crows. The UPFA candidates, if elected to power, will do so. So we should pity them and allow them to have a good life in their next birth by not electing them to power, ” Wickremesinghe said while addressing the first election rally of the United National Front for Good Governance.
He also pledged to introduce new laws following the UN Charter on anti-corruption to strengthen the government’s battle against corruption. He said the investigations into corruption allegations against the previous regime were hampered due to the lack of expertise on the part of the law enforcement bodies.
The Prime Minister said new laws would be introduced under a new government to strengthen the battle against corruption.
Meanwhile, addressing the same meeting, Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka said his party would not embark on battles that are bound to lose. He told cheering crowds that the former President’s political career will be ended and “buried” after the Parliamentary election on August 17.

It is not Karma that should work but the use of accountability mechanisms ensuring that those guilty of these killings are punished, including the LTTE thugs like Karuna and Pillaiyan, who are living it up still.
