Honourable Sir, please remember you are not living in the peaceful democratic Sri Lanka any more. It is now a corrupt lawless Banana Republic with Jungle Law which serve and protect only Criminals. The citizens have no rights and have no right to expose the corrupt Regime.

Now the LTTE has been vanquished and Tamils have been subdued the people ought to be enjoying peace and prosperity in this island.

      What are you mourning about?

        Native

LTTE was only 50% of the grave problem our country faced.

Power hungry, corrupt, inhuman political elite in the south of SL from all ethnic groups are a huge problem too. Just as bad.

Now that LTTE is out of the way. Let us unite and deal with the remaining problem.

        The flourishing family run dictatorship.

We have come a long way. We have not arrived at our destination.

        Cheers!

          Ben Hurling

I have always advocated a rainbow coalition to deal with structural and Sinhala/Buddhist ideological problems.

You need, new ideas, new ideology, new guiding principles, new working programmes, new blood, new secularists, ………………

You better draft a new liberal manifesto for Sri Lanka and publish it here in CT, we can discuss/ fine tune or completely rubbish it and send it back to drawing board.

Let us start from the scratch.

      Namal Perera:

      Grow up.

What do you say about the fact the most democratic in the world gave how many life times of prison sentences to who exposed them. what happened to Manning ? what happened to Snowden ?

Is Sri Lanka better than that or not ?

Be honest to yourself, first ?

Jim Softly, To answer your question, Sri Lanka is still not better than the country you quote. Since you are a great defender of the government, whether it does right or wrong, I get the impression you are very close to Mahinda and Gotabhaya and they listen to your advice more than any other. Therefore will you immediately give instructions to them to desist from killing civillians and get Lt.Gen.Daya Ratnayake, or Gen.Galagodaththe Gnanasara, whoever ordered the deployment of the army to resign his commission forthwith. Do this immediately so that we can be assured of your bona fides. Look forward to your patriotism toward the poor people of this land.

where was he when the Tamil civillians faced the same armys brutality? its only when your folk are affected that the South of Sri Lanka seems to awake

Apart from that I agree with Sobitho Thero 100%

Exactly! Where was this Sinhala Buddhist when the Tamils were being killed? He was cheering the government on. I think more sinhalese have to be killed before the Sinhala Buddhists learn the meaning of democracy.

That was for a good purpose and not comparable with this. It was basically demanded by the terrorists not the peace loving Tamils. Atlease now you people are available to comment here and there which wouldn’t have possible if 2009 finish wasn’t there.

Manoj, thanks for telling us your true feelings which means that the Tamil Civillians of the North are less valuable than the Sinhalese of the South,as your justifying killing them,i’m not refering the to the LTTE bastards but the innocent ones like the 5 students in Trinco (just like the 17 year old in Gamapaha),the 17 NGO workers in muttur, the killing of the MP inside the Church in Batticoloa in Christmas day and the numerous others who were massacred and then hushed up

it really shows your narrow minded racism but thanks for telling it out mate!

This too is a good purpose. Doing a humanitarian operation. Thats is all OK

Crazy old man have you forgotten the hundreds of Sinhalese and Tamils who were brutally massacred by Prabhakaran’s LTTE goons. Its convenient to blame the Army, they were then defending the lawfully elected Government from being attacked by terrorists.
What matters in the Weliveriya incident is WHO GAVE THE ORDER TO DEPLOY THE ARMY and to ignore the legally accepted methods of crowd control. How many officers today would differentiate between a legal order and a illegal order when their survival is their priority

His argument was just legal one, Gov can’t send troops when there is no emergency law. May be he is justifying the use of army with north Tamil civilians..
Anyway, I was expecting more meaningful speech from this prominent Hamuduruwo.

Sri Lanka is a Chinese military base, Government is a Chinese puppet regime. They will only listen to China, they have Chinese interest in hand not the good of the country or its people.

You are exactly right and Tinamon Squre like massacre in place like Independence Square or Galle Face may not be very far in Sri Lanka too. This government is taking Sri Lanka backward into Stone Age and they never be able to take us to a Golden Era. That is ANAGATHE which is being reflected quite clearly now. Lot of people believe only this Rev. sir if taken the lead backed by all opposition can save Sri Lankans.

Although Sri Lanka has very high literacy and numeracy rates in the world, they are the biggest fools in the world when it’s come to voting.
They never vote based on policies, if they use their 55 of their education during the voting, these barbaric regime will not be in power today.
The murderous regime is going to pay compensation for the victims, he think he can buy people lives.

what happened to Mahinda Chintana? Is it Chintana for whom? from Buddha himself?

    • 0
      0

It has now just changed its mode – under the new title “Mahinda Mineemaru Chinthana “. I could not check whether president himself made a statement about the grave incident in the course last few days ? I think he failed to make it yet. Nor has Minster of Justice reacted to this date. This is the country where so called CW countries are going to get together for CHOGM in 3 months now.

Hakeem is awaiting Gotas approval to make a Statement! This is
his Status as a Cabinet Minister or does he wish to say that
killing by the SL Army is not a matter of Justice or his concern?

its probably time for Sri Lankans who are well known Internationally to stand up and be counted…if our cricket team were to stand down for example and refuse to play anymore….that would be a power full statement.

If a country like Australia who says to all its people that “Sri Lanka is a safe place” so therefore they can deport Tamil refugees coming on boats back to Sri Lanka……these are the political games governments play that cost the lives of innocents…If they changed that stance.. that would be a powerful statement.

If Singapore Airlines suspended their flights to Sri Lanka in protest or Sri Lankans stopped flying SQ so they would be forced to suspend their flights….that would be a powerful statement..

Peaceful ways of exposing the Sri Lankan Government for what it is Internationally….by creating International press events that keep this incompetent and murderous Government in the front pages…

These are just a few events that can create news in a peaceful protest at the killing of innocents….just imagine if Sri Lankans put their minds to it and focus…how many more such events could be created to bring about change.

You wanted the unruly mob of JVP REDS to annihilate ( MARRANNA ) the workers who were inside the factory by Petrol bombing the whole factory. 120 JVP uninionist were sacked by the company for indisipline
and selling in the sly of METHANOL instead of Ethonol for illicit liquor. Consuming these spirits some fellows in the area including a monk died. Do you know that.

You have taken only one side of the story. Give the other side of the story. Send that too to the UN or nny Fellow.
Pleae get a translation of 11th August DIVAINA article by Manoj Abeydeera to study all aspects of the case. We cannot allow JVP thugs to run this country by thuggery. No factory should be allowed to be closed without proper investigation.

There can be some mis handling of the issue by the Govt. I happened to read the `DIVAINA` Sinhala newspaperr today. An article was the3re where the writer gives a full scale report on what happened.
You cannot close a factory just because some REDS want to do. Hayleys had got the factory established in 1994 after all approvals from Environment & BOI. Why did this contamination start. Because few months ago the company threw out 120 REDS for indiscilpine. They had surrounded the factory with the workers inside & was trying to burn the factory. Is this proper. Then rods were closed and traffic was disturbed and vehicles had to rustify for ocver 3 days. This is all REDS work.
That writer says that name `RATHUPASWELA` name was given to the area because the soil is RED. Agriculture Dept recommends pineapple cultivation there due to this low PH content.
This looks a planned attack by the REDS because of the grudge with company.
Petrol bombs that were brought for the destruction of the factory was thrown at the Forces. Govt. should catch hold these fellows and punish them legally.
Reds creata mayhem and then run away. Way side innocent people get into the catastrophy.
If the article given in the DIVAINA is not correct then you can explain.
Also as gentlemen please give all the facts to the UN or any fellows in the world.
