Oh Piranha, you indeed have very sharp teeth. And very observant. Nonis might impress the Banda’s and the Yakko’s with his ‘accent’ but he will be laughed out of sight if he speaks Sinhala in the ‘yanta yanawa’ style in main street Paiyagala. I fully second your point that the tamil vote will have no bearing on the fortunes of any political party in the UK…..but Nonis won’t let a small detail like that stop him bullshitting.

Lol it is like saying jewish votes have no importance on UK elections bc their percentage is low. Don’t try to look at the world through the ass hole of your white masters. Have a spine to condemn when corrupt western politicians are playing with our future.

Oh Oh Liberal One; here in SL we do NOT have white masters anymore so we can see clearly now. Western politicians may try all sorts of tactics but I think we can now see thro’ their machinations. I think it hilarious that you compare the Tamil lobby with the Jewish influence on western political life; some chutzpah, get real! Like comparing a bat’ticha to an eagle.

High Commissioner Dostara Nonis should be forgiven.
After all, he has followed to the letter the well
known dictum that diplomats are there to lie for
their country abroad. This is what he has done.
Of course there is something unforgivable. He is
also promoting his family business – Mackwoods tea
at the same time as he is High Commissioner. He even
succeeded in talking Prince Charles to his family
property Labookelle Estate near Nuwara Eliya.
He is not the only one who is a tea selling High
Commissioner. There is one in Washington DC too.
That is Jaliya Wickremasuriya who is marketing
Royal Teas. The sales point from which the vans
leave is his official residence.
Why worry about promoting Sri Lanka diplomacy? Send
Dr Mervyn Silva and he will do a better job.
See, it is like trained to pass blatants lies in a professional manner :(

Dr. Chris Nonis’ body language shows that he is uncomfortable lying to cover up the sins of the regime. The Interviewer ran short of time….and Chris Nonis would have heaved a sigh of relief!
What a hoot to say that only a minority of Tamils live in the northern province! How did the majority in the North become the minority, is the question…..?!

This is hilarious, It seems like Dr. Nonis, the SL High commissioner likes to discuss only with the uninformed naive television reporters with a few seconds of air time. :)
“NONIS REFUSES TO PARTICIPATE IN DISCUSSION ON SL’S UNFINISHED WAR
The Sri Lankan High Commissioner to the UK, Dr. Chris Nonis, refused an invitation to participate in the panel discussion which the producer of the documentary Sri Lanka’s Unfinished War, Frances Harrison, producer of the No Fire Zone documentaries, Callum Macrae, and policy and advocacy manager at Freedom from Torture, Sonya Sceats, took part.
The panel was chaired by a barrister at a London chamber who acted as the rapporteur to investigate the impeachment of Sri Lanka’s Chief Justice. Questions were also invited from the gallery. A preview screening of the BBC World documentary Sri Lanka’s Unfinished War which outlines several cases of rape and torture against Tamils in the North-East, took place at the Frontline Club yesterday. Macrae outlined that the lack of credibility of any investigative initiative set up by the Sri Lankan Government.
“The Sri Lankan Government has an endless history of commissions that have amounted to nothing. And I think we’re going to see a lot in the run up to the UN sessions in March. I think a spurious reconciliation commission will be offered with the unfortunate help of South Africa (TRC), which will be used as an excuse to prevent things from happening. I’m sorry but from what they’ve done in the past, we can guarantee that almost any investigation will be spurious.” Speaking on David Cameron’s attendance of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), Callum Macrae reiterated, “Now we have to keep on the pressure, and make sure that what was started is continued.” Commenting on the issue of deaths during the entire phase of the war, Frances Harrison, said, “I think it’s an incredibly positive thing if it can be done in a transparent and credible way. But for that to have any meaning in Sri Lanka, it would have to have some sort of international observer or involvement.”

Those who opposed his views – could have seen it beyond yours. Just add few more about what they the buggers have done sofar interms of LLRC recommendations and implementations. Then you could discuss it further. Nonis is a businessman who is trained to shake his head to the brutal regime. That is what he did in that interview, the moderator did not go into the details of the problems that the country facing today.
