Sumanthiran is a brave man representing the view of a minority of Sri Lankan’s who can see the irreversible damage that is taking place in our land while the masses stay hoodwinked by Rajapakse and his cronies and yet others choose to be blind for fear of reality or death.

I am glad that Mr Sumanthiran has picked up the call for Defence Secretary Gothabaya to resign and I would add that if he will not he should be removed by the President. Soon after UNHRC Geneva several months ago I insisted that unless the top echelons of the Defence Ministry are replaced neither reconciliation nor a proper investigation of violations is possible. At last a few others have picked up the call.

It remains to be seen if the main opposition party the UNP will take up the call and bring the matter to parliament.

Resignation alone is inadequate. He should be subjected to the trial for war crimes & crimes against humanity. He also has to return the money jewellery wealth collected from Mullivaikal back to the people.
