These are Muslims in England showing solidarity with Muslims in Sri Lanka, as any harm comes to Muslims anywhere as in a limb, is like harm affecting all Muslims as in the whole body. The only thing is that they need to get their facts correct, and not lump SL with what is happening in Myanmar, which happens to be in a more advanced state of communal disharmony between Buddhists and Muslims. Killing, burning and looting of Muslim peoperties seems to be the order of the day. The early days, or the starting symptoms of this malaise in Myanmar are eerily very similar to what Sri Lanka Muslims are going thru at the moment, being at the receiving end from BBS rhetoric, attacking all that is Muslim in religious beliefs, with tacit government backing, and no guarantee of police protection.

I think these London Muslims have got ti wrong….

I am Sri Lankan Muslim and I would like to thank those protester for raising a voice on behalf of Muslims in Sri Lanka.

But I would also like to emphasize that WE DO NOT NEED A JIHAD (if they meant the word Jihad as WAR) at this moment in Sri Lanka. Majority of Sri Lankans are peace loving and down to earth people who live peacefully with other communities and stay in harmony.

Please do not destroy this harmony with your hatred and provoking thoughts and ideas…

My dear brothers and sisters in UK,

thank you for the solidarity shown. We appreciate it. But I think you are standing outside the wrong embassy. Our brothers and sisters in Myanmar are being slaughtered and not in Sri Lanka. Well, so far no butchering in Sri Lanka. If and when that happens just remember us in your prayers. Protesting and shouting slogans are not the ways of our beloved Prophet or his Companions. They were tortured and persecuted but in the end they came out victorious because of their patience and perseverance. Congrats to the Muslims of Sri Lanka for their patience!

As a Muslim i will never speak against any Buddhist Monk as i have been blessed to have had associated them from my childhood and had such a nice bondage and enlightening experience. I am even more privileged to have associated with Buddhist friends who are now openly criticizing the “questionable behavior” of some of the so called Monks. People will say what they want but the fact is our country is one of the most multicultural and upwardly mobile societies around. The strength of the Muslims in Sri Lanka is NEVER THE OTHER MUSLIMS BUT THE 99.98% of the Right thinking Buddhists that have traditional protected and enriched us and who will do the same for years to come . The strength of a chain is equal to the strength of the weekest ling and the strength of a country is also related to the strength and stability of its minorities.

These fundamentalist Wasabi Muslims who force their women to wear the Burqa have become a curse. The BBS are the Sinhala Buddhist equivalents of these extremist Jihadists. I hope these two groups will allow the peaceful traditional Muslims, Buddhists and Christians to continue to live peacefully in Sri Lanka, without using the funding from extremists in Saudi Arabia,USA and other foreign countries to create religious tensions.

You must be a bbs supporter to write this comment. There is no definition of a traditional muslims and wahabis. Prior to 1915 riots there was a distinction between recent Indian Muslim migrants and original Muslims. Original Muslims were happy to distance themselves from the recent Indian Muslim migrants but at the end of the day rioters didnt make a difference between the two.!!!
It is the Thabliq movement who are against Thowheeds( so called Wahabies) who force their women to cover.
When the Anuradhapura shrine was demolished by the monks, there were some Muslims who were happy about it. Thereafter the Dambulla and series of mosques were attacked. I remember the words ” when they came for me there was no one” Whatever religion we belong, whatever sects we belong to, let us have the freedom to worship and pray the way we want to.
BBS is trying to make capital out of our differences because we make the differences. Lets tolerate diversity within each religion. Let God be the judge.

Thank you folks in UK for supporting the Sri Lankan Muslim. We do appreciate it but let me say that there was no genocide. Muslims were not killed here. We do not need Jihads here. Please don’t exaggerate issues as it beats the purpose. BBS says lies and damn lies, please Muslims never do that.

We need support from you all for our women to walk freely on the road. We need freedom to eat what we want. Please help us , but fear Allah and say the truth.

The word ‘Genocide’ according to international legal interpretation also means ‘a gradual and systematic destruction of the religous, cultural and other practices of a race or community’/

‘Jihad’ does not mean only carrying arms, but action by words and other means as well.

To ensure our women walk freely, to eat what want, etc. we need suitable action to counter opposition, just not only praying.

we do know the meaning of Jihad. I agree with Lanka Muslim the islamic meaning of Jihad. It is a noble concept. But this word has become corrupted to mean violence and armed resistance. Non Muslims would take the common present interpretation of Jihad which is violence and armed struggle. It is not easy to give the correct meaning of Jihad to ordinary human being. It would take so much of time and strategic planning to get rid of the corrupt meaning of Jihad from their minds.

Knowing what the general perception of the word Jihad, i do feel that we should not use these terms. we cant explain the Islamic meaning to everybody.

When the protesters call for Jihad, the common man’s interpretation would be armed struggle.same applies to genocide.

To me protesters didn’t look Sri Lankan- I may be wrong- But it does not matter as every one has the right to protest against injustice whatever religion or nationality he/she is. But PLEASE do not use these words. Till recently or till this BBS appeared in the scene, we had very little problems from the Sinhalese. Your violent protest would get more support for bbs.

Thank you again for your solidarity.
