The eminent Australian lawyer Geoffrey Robertson, QC’s presence in this forum is highly important since he had said that Western powers can legally go ahead with a military strike in Syria without a full United Nations mandate. This leading international lawyer’s words are a chilling reminder to the Rajapaksa regime.
He also said that Russia (Rajapaksa supporter too) was “wrong to maintain that military intervention would be unlawful in the absence of full backing from the UN Security Council”. He also had supported the NATO_US attack on Serbia to stop ethnic cleansing in Kosovo and NATO use of force to create safe havens in Iraq in the 1990s.
Dr Matas,the distinguished Canadian human rights lawyer has more credentials than any one other lawyer to highlight the genocidal war against Tamils. On Hamas (another Rajapaksa supporter), he had said that “Hamas, which controls Gaza, is at war with Israel. The war is not about boundaries or Jerusalem or settlements or occupation. The war is straight antisemitism. Indeed, Hamas acknowledges that Israel does not control the Gaza strip. Hamas attacks Israel because of a genocidal desire to kill Jews”.

From the speeches what I understand is there are holes and flaws in the International law. When the minorities in a state are subjected to genocide, they have to look for a Good Samaritan state to take their case to the international courts.
In the case of SL Tamils, they have to look for a Good Samaritan state to take their case forward. I hope South Africa, Canada or a European state will come forward to help the Tamils. The Tamil Diaspora should work hard on this.

started with the late SWRD. The current Rajapakses cannot be entirely blamed although they have no idea what they are doing. The fact is the Sinhala-Tamil marriage in the South lasted a little over a hundred years and now the Tamils want to go home. The marriage is no longer on.
The learned Prof. Sornarajah should note Tamils do not want or wish for revenge. That is not in the culture of Tamils. What they want is
accountability. The Professor apparently is far more effective in his written submissions. The more convincing impromptu presentations by Prof Boyle, Dr. Matas and Geoffrey Robertson QC makes it clear the Rajapakses are taking both themselves and Sri Lanka to the edge of the cliff. It is worse for the Rajapakses as Dr. Matas points out existing international law allows for perpetrators to be held responsible even after they leave office. He insists they are liable until they die.
As to be expected the Rajapakse Brothers will now summon our regular
gas-bag GLP – who has turned out to be a classic conner based on his
mendacious interview with BBCs Zenab Badawi recently. The man was lying through his ears while Badawi was patiently listening to the
cons. GLP will once again, without battling an eyelid, say the Rajapakses are safe until they live.
