Former senior DIG Anura Senanayake was denied bail and further remanded till July 20th by the Colombo Magistrate, in connection to the murder of ruggerite Wasim Thajudeen.
The magistrate denied his bail request when he was produced before the Court, and informed his lawyers to forward Senanayake’s bail application to the Colombo High Court.
Senanayake, along with former Crimes OIC of Narahenpita Police, Sumith Perera was arrested by the CID for concealing evidence over the murder of Thajudeen.
Thajudeen, a Sri Lankan ruggerite and former Havelock SC captain, was killed in Colombo in May 2012 in what appeared to be an accident, but it was later ruled as a murder, with the accident staged.

Yes, if he knows that there will be nothing worst him to face, spill the beans is the only way. There he can help both the nation and the family who son was taken away. That mother will be grateful to you for all the honesty -though bit late.

Senior DIG Anura Senanayake was not only corrupt to the core but also crossed the line by covering up the murder of an innocent citizen who voiced his concern against the so called “Royal family” at the time and has now being made an accessory to that dastardly act.
Anura Senanayake was to make a confession and what he has said would be very interesting indeed.
The murder of Rugby player Wasim Thajudeen is just one of the crimes perpetrated by the “Jarapakse family” with the concurrence of Senior DIG Anura Senanayake who was in charge of the Western province in the discharge of Law & Order and other stooges in the Sri Lanka Police and Armed forces.
All those who were involved in any crime during the time the “Jarapakses” were in power have to be brought before the law, tried and if convicted locked up in jail.
The Courts have asked for details of Minister Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka’s security detail during the time of Sunday Leader editor Lasantha Wickrematunga’s murder.The ball is now in the Field Marshal’ court and IF HIS HANDS ARE CLEAN, his total cooperation in the matter is what is required at the moment.
Joining the UNP now, which he did not do when Ranil offered him the post of Deputy Leader before the 2010 Presidential elections is a cause of concern for all the nearly 04 Million die hard UNP supporters.
Sarath Fonseka was overwhelmed when he polled more than 04 Million votes at the 2010 Presidential Elections and became too cocky, thinking that he was on cloud seven.
He only realized his level of popularity at the 2015 General elections, when he mustered less than 1500 votes in the Colombo district and just about 28,000 votes across the country.
He was shamed politically in 2015 and knows only too well now that all his votes came from the UNP and other smaller parties.
Sarath Fonseka is NOT a political heavy weight and has to be treated as such, along with all the other political hang on’s like Wimal Buruwansa, Dinesh Gomawardena, Udaya Cheatingpila, Bandula Muttwardena and the others.
It is now left to Sarath Fonseka to show all law abiding and intelligent Sri Lankans who adored and respected the late Lasantha Wickrematunga that his HANDS ARE CLEAN and cooperate fully with the CID and help them to uncover the REAL MURDERERS of this dastardly act.
Sarath Fonseka owes this to the people of Sri Lanka and only then would he be exonerated from the “Sword of Damocles” which is being held above his head in the minds of the people who are convinced that he had a hand in the murder.
Ranil and the UNP too, has a responsibility to see that Lasantha’s murderers are brought to book, it is already late and justice for Lasantha and his family has been delayed.
The UNP should not follow in the steps of the “Jarapakses” because there are 04 Million votes at stake.
