Former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa said the SLFP-led alliance would ensure the victory of a new President before the end of the year.
Rajapaksa is the chief ideologue and the national organizer of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, the proxy party of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Addressing a balamandala meeting of the SLPP in the Mahara area, the former Minister said the youth participation was required to usher in a new Presidency to the country that had been driven to the ground by the current government.
Addressing the meeting, Rajapaksa also said he did not have any plans to secure or continue the 51-day government. “Our party does not have a competition with Ranil Wickrememesinghe, Sajith Premadasa or Navin Dissanayake. We only have a competition with the international conspirators,” Rajapaksa said addressing the meeting.
He said his party was able to outperform all political parties, including the 72-year-old UNP, the 67-year-old JVP and the 53-year-old JVP at the last Local Government election. “We easily can win all districts at a future election,” he added.
