Weerawansa Incites Supporters To Attack Nirmal Dewasiri And Sarath Wijesuriya

Wimal Weerawansa, leader of the Jathika Nidahas Peramuna (National Freedom Front), addressing a meeting in Moratuwa urged supporters to give Dr. Nirmal Dewasiri and Prof. Sarath Wijesuriya, both academics at Colombo University, ‘the treatment that Lokuge meted out to Marikkar.’

Weerawansa, whose party members are contesting the local government elections under the Pohottuwa Symbol of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), was referring to an incident where Gamini Lokuge (also a ‘Pohottuwa’ supporter) assaulted S. Marikkar (of the UNP) in the parliament.

Dewasiri and Wijesuriya supported the move to defeat Mahinda Rajapaksa in January 2015 and were virtual spokespersons for the Yahapalana initiative. Dewasiri is backing the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) in the local government elections. Wijesuriya has of late expressed grave disappointment in the Yahapalana Government.

This is Pohotuwa. Even before winning elections if they behave like this one can imagine what they would do when they win the seats and Mahinda appointed as PM! Its the breeding.

Spineless, scheming Yahapalanaya clowns are responsible for leaving criminal Weerawansa a free man. Out in the open, threatening citizens of honour. Rather than rotting away in jail, where he should be. Cheers!

He has been a rising star in JVP, UPFA, NFF since 2000. His rise is marked by substantial increase in votes coupled with confidence, bigotry, public racism, madness, ……….forgery and deceit. Voters should have voted with their feet instead he has been gaining votes in large numbers.

        Why?

If they are all same they must be receiving some intangible common benefit out of supporting Wimal Sangili Karuppan Weerawansa given that Weerawansa is not known share his wealth among his supporters and voters.

What is that intangible common benefit?

Can someone say as to how many employable graduates have been produced by Devasiri and Wijesuriya?

Let them do their job properly before doing politics please !!

How may of their students can speak proper English? Are they conversant with IT?

    • 17

Devasiri and Wijesuriya don’t make a University.

The questions asked by Jagath Fernando in the foregoing aren’t relevant to the topic or the larger role Devasiri and Wijesuriya have played in the political climate change which led to the 2015 watershed.

Jagath, are you implying by any chance that Weerawansa’s statement with regard to meting out the “Lokuge treatment” to these two fine men, is justified simply because the University undergrads or graduates couldn’t speak English?

Are these two gentlemen professors in English or IT?

This “Justice & Fairplay”, who seems presumtuous about this foreign language must realize that he/she cannot hold a candle to our ‘Professors’ even in relationn to this foreign Language. Do not his comments vouch for his own “lowliness”?

    • 14
      2

Jagath Fernando, I am a former student of Dr. Dewasiri and now I am involved with important research work at a world renowned university in Asia. I have a lot of respect towards Dr. Dewasiri, a responsible teacher. I hope my comment replies your question.

You should ask this question from the university or those who formulate education policies. These two guys alone do not produce employable graduates nor do they teach English as far as I know. So what is your argument? Those that produce employable graduates, who can speak English are the only ones that can do politics!!!

Of course, it is the FAULT or could be a DEAL that this “Yahapalanaya” Government has openly given to this ex Minister Mr. Wimal W to FREELY move in the country, without being incarcerated in a Jail Cell and offer threats to the rest law abiding citizens of the country. The other day, this Wimal W was made to appear in a Court of Law and was handed over charges in a case of Bribery and Corruption for being unable to account for Rs. 74 million of his worth. His “Legal Representative” appearing on his behalf explained to court how he saved the money and came into possession. This case is now going for trial. It would be interesting to know as when the facts get unfolding in courts and at the end how this Wimal W would be SLAPPED; but Not in the way that Welgama slapped Marikkar and Marikkar slapped in return (he admitted it in a Media conference). Mr. Wimal W, get ready to receive that SLAP, because it could a “THUNDERING SLAP”.

      Comrade Douglas

Wimal Sangili Karuppan Weerawansa was a former active member of JVP. He encouraged the armed forces to carpet bomb Vanni, bomb Parliament, ………… involved in alleged passport fraud and other unpleasant businesses. Sangili Karruppan’s call to attack Nirmal Dewasiri And Sarath Wijesuriya doesn’t come as a surprise.

Can I remind you, as you suggested in previous comments lets not dwell in the past and march towards the future, send the boy to a boot camp. Today’s incident becomes a past one tomorrow.

      Douglas,

On what charge does Wimal should be imprisoned? The passport issue was a mere mix up blown off proportioned by the UNP media goons. The nepotism issue is also like that.

The Wimal trial is simply a part of political which hunt. The day light robbers of the Central Bank are roaming freely while the alleged 74 million loot is only investigated. If Wimal deserve a thundering slap then what should Ranil deserve? A shooting squad at Galle face perhaps?

Is that a joke? Then what about other national assets eg Ravi K,the AG J Jayasuriya, Aloysius and a foreign asset too perhaps like Mahendran? Should not they all be preserved and protected. And not forgetting that brilliant, and dishonest asset Ranil. What shall we do with him? Preserve, protect? Or mummify him for posterity?
I thought CT was a place for serious discussion?

Professor Sarath Wijesuriya (trust my spelling’s is right) in my view is fit enough to be the President of this country. It would make a welcome change to have a highly acclaimed intellectual in that high seat.

Any sensible country which was steered with the larger interest of the country at heart would by now have had Messrs Dewasiri, Viyangoda and Wijesuriya well inside the cabinet.

Why the likes of them are not anywhere near, conveys to us a very important message in itself.

I think the GMOA for a change could agitate for something useful such as that !!!

What’s wrong with him saying that? In fact, there is no need to incite, people will attack them in any case as they are also part and parcel of Marupalanaya which destroyed every sector of the country beyond repair.
In 2020, if SLFP and the UNP do house-to-house-canvassing, people will receive them with hot water buckets, pelts, stones, brooms, clubs anything. That includes SLPP too. People will tell JO too that they are fed up with their daytime Miguel nighttime Daniel political drama, betrayals and hoodwinking.

Weerasangili Pannikkiyalage Wimalasena, who changed his name to Weerawansa to hide his low birth – BERAW- although trying hard to hide it cannot. I challenged Wimalasenaya to tell us what his GE name is. His father’s father – his grandfather was a frequent visitor to our house in Loolbadduwa, the village of the Kannangara’s, in search of any eatables. Wimalasena’s father lived in Berawagoda, a hamlet created by the Great Kannangara Muthatha the founder of the Kannangara clan of Loolbadduwa.Wimalasena is undoubtedly off his head. Castrate the fellow.

What a pathetic comment!!! Who cares about your rubbish, man. Nobody can predetermine their birth place or their parents.
Wimal’s father should be a great man to gift the country such a wonderful son whose patriotism has no match.
Look at what your father has gifted to the country – a worthless wretched loser who can’t stand other people’s success.

Shenal: I have to once again ask you: Where are you living OR What makes you to mislead the readers? To answer your first question: As I said, (1) Wimal W is now charged on corruption and failure to show or account how he accumulated Rs. 74 million. (2) The misuse of a fleet of vehicles that belonged to the Engineering Corporation by assigning those to his party officials, relations who are not even employees. (3) Allocation of houses built by his Ministry to his immediate relations at very low prices. (3) Use of a LOST passport to travel abroad. In all these cases the relevant DOCUMENTS are “Marked” as evidence. This No. 3, although you are attempting to say a “MIX UP” and “Blown off by the UNP”, you should feel ashamed to say it. That passport was REPORTED LOST and replaced with a new passport. That “Lost Passport” was the one he produced to the Immigration at BIA and the officials very correctly prevented his departure. Not only that he was handed over to the Police for necessary investigations. Before you ask me: “Then how did he travel?” I will tell you HOW: The PM’s office gave instructions to release him and ALLOW him to travel. Was it a “Blown out of proportion by the UNP” as you described above? It awas the UNP PM who violated the Law and “ORDERED” the officials to allow him to travel. So, please don’t attempt to mislead the readers. Would you ever dream of such intervention would come from your UNP PM, if ever an ordinary Sumanawathi; Pathiamma; Suguladevi; Jinadasa; Ismail; Nadarajah produced a REPORTED LOST passport was produced to travel abroad? Please be SENSIBLE in making comments.

      Douglas,

The vehicle misuse by politicians are very common issue in Sri Lankan culture. Not even the politicians the civil servants do that also. I don’t know why should only Wimal be targeted for that. Similarly, the house allocation is also a common practice among politicians. There were some politicians who intervened police proceedings just to save their sons. They enjoy political high ground while people like Wimal who has become the bane just because they speak against this government are targeted. I really don’t want to talk about the passport issue because it is just a mix up. There shouldn’t have any reason to make it headline news.

Native Vedda: Aren’t you glad this Wimal W was KICKED OUT of JVP? I invite you to read his speech made in Parliament after that “History” was made by the JVP. My friend, the TROUBLE with Sri Lanka is: Today’s incident is allowed to be become history. If on the reverse, Today’s incident is looked into and solved then and there, there will not be any history to repeat. I am glad the “PRESENT” JVP has done that. Look how many such “Bad Eggs” have been cracked and thrown into garbage. Where are they hanging today? Recently such a “GROUP” joined MY3 and his media “Decoration” of that event boomeranged on them. Another “GROUP” called themselves “Peratugami” (Front Line) is stranded in the desert of political dust bin. That, “Administrative set up & No Nonsense” theory has given me some hope on JVP. Other than that, I am NO “COMRADE”.

Douglas and Kalu Albert do not seem to live in this world. For generations Weerasangilis of Berawagoda in Gammana, in Pasdun Korale West, were drumming and devil dancing. Weerasangili Wimalasena alias Weerawansa or Booruwansa did not do a job in all his life. His wife was running a telephone booth or some such thing in Makola area when he married much older Sashi. After he crossed over to support MARA in 2010 he suddenly builds a palatial house in Hoakandara. His relations on both sides suddenly own houses worth millions. His assets go beyond 75 million within a space of 5 years. Do you know that his father who was a top devil dancer in mid 1950 s was fortunate enough to get a dancing teaching job in a govt. school in Kalutara thanks to PM SWRD Bandaranaike. Could Douglas and Kalu Albert tell us how Booruwansa own such wealth whose generations were living a hand to mouth existence.

i am very glad that those two professors are doing a great contribution to the SL polity by being alert to the issues confronting the society. the entire nation plus yapalanaya govt. should come forward and protect them. they want the changes to take place thro’ people participation and not thro;’cardboard heros. they reflect the sentiments of people who rely on truth and ahimsa.

DPJ: You asked: “Could Douglas and Kalu Albert tell us………………….whose generations were living a hand to mouth existence”. I do not know what that Kalu Albert has to say. I am too amazed as to how he – Wimal W came to own such wealth earning Rs. 65,000.00 + Allowances as an MP. Please re-read my two comments and then you will understand my position clearly. I am in no way to trace his birth. To me that is UGLY and I condemn your attempt to do it. Please be more civilized than that.

      Douglas,

Almost all MPs have earned more than they can bargain for through illegal channels. I don’t actually know whether Wimal did it in illegal ways. But, let’s assume. However, the issue is why only targeting Wimal for these things? The simple answer is because he is one of the best government critics.

Why did Lord Buddha choose to to be born in to a Royal family. You do not understand these things. It is because of Wimalasenay’s low birth that he goes on insulting people. I am not insulting but telling the truth. During 1987/1989 he was hiding and consuming dankuda in Gammana, Paraigama, Udugama areas. He is dirt.

Even this idiot Booruwansa is also there because of him. Kalu Albert you should be ashamed of yourself for being ignorant of where Loolbadduwa is. .
Of course Wimal is correct. Indian National Anthem is in Hindi.
        .
What a super mix up by two pundits called Dayal and Keyboard Vedda who know nothing about a difference between a song and a National Anthem.
        .
The original song with 5 stanzas were written by Ravindranath Tagore. There is no argument. It was written in Sanskrit, the mother of all Indian languages, not in Bengali. Tagore had converted the song into English too, by himself.
        .
In 1950, the Hindi version of ONLY ONE STANZA of Ravindranath Tagore’s song was formally ratified as the National Anthem of India. The rest of the song is NOT a part of the National Anthem.
        .
Dayal and Keyboard – Next time when you choose to attack Wimal, learn to learn the subject by yourself first, ok, as obviously he has learnt the subject before talking.
