What A Pity Yoshitha!!!

By Barbara Seneviratne

Barbara Seneviratne

Barbara Seneviratne

It is pity that for the first time in the history of Sri Lanka the general public had to witness a son of president being taken to prison not for a simple truant but for a major crime.

The public is aware that President Mahinda Rajapaksa‘s sons were a handful to manage, but they were unheard of at the early stages of Mahinda’s political activities. Then how come that these two sons got so prominently exposed and Namal had problems about his law exams?

No sooner he was an organizer and later he was in a position to dictate terms, very senior officers of the Central Bank were threatened that if they cannot carry out his orders they will be sacked. In fact one honest senior officer resigned as Namal considered himself to be above other MPs and Ministers so much so that when he walked in to Parliament the SLFP members stood up. This shows the caliber of these MPs.

Yoshitha ShiranthiTaking the question of Yoshitha, a youngster who managed to obtain only 2 credit passes was not only able to enter the Sri Lanka Navy but he was able to enter prestigious naval institutions in London and Ukraine which cost the country millions of rupees.

This is the cost to train one child while there are many hospitals, schools, roads that need attention. However one do not know if these qualifications was of any use to country as apparently it seams he has qualified to forge documents and is involved in money laundering with five others. One of these is well known for corrupt dealings while in the National TV.

The question is how a Naval officer become a chairman to an organization even it is in the family? Well its a job for the authorities of the Navy.

Namal and Yoshitha are carbon copies of Mahinda Rajapakasa. Unlike other fathers Mahinda Rajapaksa ruined the future of his sons due to greed for power, wealth which he never had. Actually the real culprit is the Executive Presidency as we see today even though certain executive powers are done with yet nepotism has taken hold. Due to the executive powers Mahinda enjoyed and promoted looting thuggery, crimes, rapists, grabbed state lands and brought about the economic recession. He eternally talks about winning the war, what good has it done to general public. While there is no terrorists we are loaded with Sinhala thugs and so called monks.

Mahinda’s only concern was to rule this land until death. He gave no thought as at how or what would become of his sons. They got used to a wealthy life style, they could kill as they want, they could sack senior officers at a will and in fact no one could be above them.

But now we see what has happened, both the father and mother are so short sighted they had only seeked wealth and power, hell with the country and the children. Both Namal and Yoshitha brought disgrace to their College, S. Thomas College Mount Lavinia.

This is also a lesson for the present corrupt ministers, MPs and state officials. Watch out those who came by the back door will not have a second chance and Prime Minister, we know that you are shrewd and cunning like your uncle JR Jayewardene, but do not try to hoodwink the masses, We could see you are trying your best to get rid of the President or to corner him, it is also Mahinda’s dream, you are in touch with him through certain others. give up under hand dealings and be an honest man who love the country Like the former Prime minster of Malaysia.

Father – a lawyer for rascals coming from Beliatta – then he should know the basics of law and order- does he ?

Son – lawyer – should then be well aware of lanken prevailing laws (his degree is still under criticism – the manner the PRINCE was allowed to take part in the final exam).

Rocket Son – should have been connected with US NASA – to run the kind of research as PROXY Rajapakshe journos have been reporting.

I think it is high time, lanken profs to interview Rohitha Rajapakshe for check his academic credentials. I really dont think he is that qualfied person for Research in Astro physics. Let me check on the web, the publications his teams have brought sofar… contd.

I can imagine how many like Ms. Babara Seneviratne were compelled to take anti neurotika being unable to keep control the nerves – being unable to see their tasks on the TV. I know what my elderly parents explained me about the Rajapakshes.

Colombo to Katharagama – there are lands that have been looted by Rajapakshes goons.

There had been no reason them to let that happening, but thugs promotoed by Rajapakshe rascal culture made it real. I lose my parents land since some notars had worked so blinedly not respecting over 75 years olds conscience. There had been no legal way the way Rajapakshe adminstiration handled so many issues.
Today, they have to pay a high price.. perhaps letting both offsprings, longer terms in the prisons.

Alone the manner they treated fomrer president CBK was beyond all ethics and morals.
RW was ridiculed by their media men – from dawn to dusk.

No respect were given to any senior professors in the country.
If they worked for Rjaaashe theories (Frog in a well theories) they were rewarded with all perks as if the state funds were their properties.

It is high time to check Mahinda s IQ. Why he let all these happen.

In the same time, former cabinet men should be interviewed and asked as to why they were set silent while Rajapakshes were in the front place whatever it was being taken for the country s sake.

Why foreign ministry was run that way – by putting a baggage boy, turned politician as monitoring ministers -even giving powers to him to physically control HIGHLY EDUCATED UK accepted high commissioners.

These are just few among the thousands on the lists where Rajapakshes are proved to have done wrong.

Opoosition had no whatsoever power – since their portions in the parliament were relatively not many. And the fact all the abusive MEDIA men worked for Rajapakshe heirachy almost blindfolded the most guilliable men and women of the nation.

This tells me that his IQ is 79 or below.

There are at least 10 million Sri Lankans with IQs over 79, and over a million over 100.

So, the only Qualification he has is being the Son of MaRa.

      Same with Namal.

However, they all are “educated” at the “prestigious” Saint Thomas College.

The Saints could not do much for him, either. Only his corrupt, MaRa MaRa Chatu MaRa Amana MaRa Dhushana MaRa, Dad could.

Leaving aside white vans and rugby murders for the moment, Money Laundering is a serious crime, and more so if it involves even 1US$. Let the newly independent judiciary in Sri Lanka handle this for the moment. In any case, if the US 2.3 million was an irregular transaction, the US itself will issue an arrest warrant for all these people, as the US did to all the big shot FIFA people, where even the Swiss Government caved in, along with their vaunted banking secrecy, and arrested the FIFA people on Swiss soil. All US Dollars are fundamentally US Property and a transaction of even 1US$ through any bank anywhere in the world has to occur through New York. The moment that illegal dollar passes through New York, the sender and recipient have committed a crime against the US, and the US will get you even if it takes a couple of years. That’s how they got the FIFA people and that’s how they will get anyone, whether they be -ex-Presidents or their offspring. Boycotting state functions or having a hoo haa at Galle Face Green won’t turn the tide now that the US bloodhounds are on the track: All their investigators came to Sri Lanka to collect evidence on all the MR Regime’s illegal US$ transactions. The FBI Director James Comey explained (the FIFA ‘right to arrest’ thus) , “If you touch our shores with your corrupt enterprise, whether that’s through meetings or USING OUR WORLD-CLASS FINANCIAL SYSTEM, you will be held accountable.”

Taking the life of other is above all high crimes.

Well written Madam. Sadly, MR could have been the Lee Kuan Yew of Sri Lanka, but greed got in the way. The lesson to be learnt is that our leaders should make sure that they are surrounded by the right people who will give the right advice and stop them from doing anything wrong….

Lee quan yu of Spore had brains. But MR s had wandered to his backside, day to another – not being able to respect anyone. THAT reflected the pictures and abuses of high profile being sowed by end of 2014. I was on a visit to lanka twards nov 2014, and felt, as if anyhting and everything is deliberately abused by MR et al. Every walk to colombo gave me the feeling, it was his pvt property, placards being so scattered from 1feet to another. How much of waste had that beeen is not yet estimated. I think if the manner the current regime maintains it – Rajapakshes could save billions if they applied asterity measuress to the manner the Greeks are asked to do so. ALone using Helicopter or planes unncessarily made it clear the bugger had gone mad. It was not him, but his astrolgers controlled him. His offspings were held as gods for no reasons.

Just becaues MR s term ended the war means not necessarily that he should be above the law. Had he become somewhat modest with the time, people could have respected him for his entire life – like Gimi Cartor deserved it. But twisting almost everything and painting the picture in favour of them had been repeated. THat is not exemplary. Alone the facts the way he behaved in the aftermath of war – gives all sufficient evidence – that he was not so pragmatic in handling the war. And collective forces together back by diverse civil society groups were intrumental in defeating LTTErs, also not forgeting the tangible fragelity of LTTE organisation by 2005.

MR would have become the Lee Kuan Yew of Sri Lanka if he had followed closely the principles of his father D A Rajapakse. He was a Cabinet Minister but he had very little money yet he gave his children a good expensive education for which he sold his car and several of his property assets. In contrast his children Mahinda, Gotobhaya and others are wallowing in wealth with mansions in Sri Lanka and abroad. How they accumulated that wealth is anybody’s guess but could never have been through legal means.

A sound advise to all politicians in SL but it will go unnoticed! MR has not learned his lessons; for from it, he is so deep in the hole and he has to hide behind the Sinhala Buddhist Chauvinism to save him. This is why he has been visiting many prominent Buddhist Viharas around the country. When the screw gets tightened, he will unleash the monk-force to create havoc. This is his strategy. What is unfathomable that the learned and self-proclaimed political scientist Dayan De Silva (Jayatileke) is the brain behind smoothing the rough edges of his current predicament!

Yoshita just used $2 million from the family stash overseas to setup the Carlton TV. The money was laundered under the name of Mahinda former press secretary.

The tell tale sign was when Yoshita took a special leave from the Navy and went to Dubai. The money is said to be stashed there in a bank.

None of it is in their personal names. So its hard to trace. I think the Police has been thorough taking time to make the case water tight.

Yoshita is certain to end up in jail.

“Actually the real culprit is the Executive Presidency as we see today even though certain executive powers are done with yet nepotism has taken hold”.

Almost in passing Ms Babara draws attention to a serious point. Once a country goes wrong in a serious way, even if you correct that particular disorder, its ramifications, consequences and bad habits persist for years. The damage that the Rajapaksa 9 years did will take a long time to get over. I feel sorry not only for this government but also the next two or three; they will collect a lot of criticism for inherited defects.

      Mr. Patriot

You are like a drowning man trying to hold on to a blade of grass as you are justifying the actions of your “masters”. Sadly you being oblivious to the truth, and no amount of rigmarole can change facts.

We all know that there are thousands of children of the rich and the affluent in Sri Lanka who live an opulent life style and yet no body wants to see them behind bars.

Mahinda and his cronies took it for granted, that they had a birth right to do whatever they saw fit in Sri Lanka on the basis of “winning the war”, yet none of his family members were involved in actual fighting.

The first thing they did after the war was to incarcerate the actual hero of the war, the military commander who won the war from the front, on trumped up charges.

Then they gathered all the oddballs and crooks and brought them into their government. Corrupted what was left of the system in Sri Lanka and governed Sri Lanka like a Banana Republic, created religious tension, mislead the public with propaganda and influenced the judiciary. Most of all they used all means at their disposal and plundered the wealth of our country.

Now the time has come to pay, I hope this is just the start of a series of investigations and law suits to bring all those who did wrong, to justice.

If they could put General Sarath Fonseka behind bars, who is Yoshitha or Namal??? Let them face the music. Scumbags! Cheap shits with IQs of Dogs. Opportunist to the highest degree.

And you should open your mind, to reality my friend, “Mr. Patriot”. If you had real a Buddhist foundation you would be unperturbed by emotion and cheap propaganda, you would see the truth for what it is.

Lasith,After the war Fonseka and other commanders were recognozed for their services and rewarded with a plot of Land in colombo and promotions they deserved. But the greed of Fonseka won’t let him rest with that.
He wants to be a Field Marshal and when that was refused he joined with Americans to become the President himself. Even though today he refutes allegations of war crimes,it was he who came up with the ludicrous white flag story.
Upto now he or Anura Kumara Dissanayake who supproted his bid in 2010, where the US$500000 came from that was found in Dauna’s mother safe deposit box.
As for Yoshitha they have no clear charge against him they have not concluded invetigations but remand the suspects.Funny is Ravi K’s BiL is aslo a director in this company and he is not aressted or charged.
They were trying their best to implicate Yoshitha in the death of the ruggerite Thajudeen and played a funny drama before the elections by exhuming his body. now theuy failed in that attempt now implicate him in ths CSN case of which he is not even a director.

They let MR talk in the mike without asking questions of course he talks as he is the only father in the world. They can ask about the humiliation suffered by Shirani Bandaranayake . The media men who shove the mike is MR’s people otherwise why do they fail miserably to highlight the crimes committed by the Rajapakses

The MR brats were the most spoilt of the political brats. The ailment was becoming a contagion. Yoshita , a commisioned officer – apparently never had permission from the Navy Commander for his many jaunts abroad. Of course , his father was the Commander-in- Chief, the almighty who was above everyone else. He is likely to be dishonorably dismissed from the navy. The Tajudeen murder case is the Damocle’s sword dangling quite near him.

MR could have been the Lee Kuan Yew of Sri Lanka after the war, as one commentator had mentioned. I had wished and hoped he would be one. Unfortunately, though quite cunning, he was a political animal who was short in cerebral skills. He delegated authority to his family and sycophants, and ran a Teflon presidency, enjoying the perks and power, greedily. He was a glutton for power and the tinsel. He thus set a bad example for his children , with his wife running a jamboree of her own.

We cannot however deny his many achievements on the infradevelopment- the physically visible, but with attendant corruption at giddy heights. However, he could not understand that human needs extend beyond the physically tangible to the amorphous that embrace individual and communal human needs. He was insensitive to the latter and paid the price. It is a shame there is no one around him to tell the truth to his face. His belief in the occult, in a rather irrational manner, also spelt his doom.

Maithri and Ranil have a lot on their hands. They should work as a team, complementing and tempering the strengths and weaknesses of each. Barbara Seneviratne’s fears are justified. The strength and vulnerability of the coalition rests on these two individuals. The political strategy of the opposition would be to drive a wedge between the two. The temptation to play a game of one oneupmanship, by either of them, would end as a tragedy for Sri Lanka.

Vibhusana said: “Yoshitha took special leave and went to Dubai”. WHY and for WHAT? These two questions are important to seek answers. But from the news that came to light, there is a much more important question to ask and that is: WHO TOOK HIM THERE?. Was it a man very highly connected to Central Bank Bond investments? Did Yoshitha carry a “Power of Attorney” to a Bank?. Of course, the ANSWERS are there with the “BIG BOSSES”; but swept under the carpet for mutual protection.

We have to search for ANSWERS to the above questions. In the process of finding answers, it will be possible to put the dots together and obviously that “warning” given to the present Prime Minister in the last paragraph of this article is very relevant. I believe this “WARNING” has to be ECHOED by the people from now on, to keep the wheels of Yahapalanaya turning.

I just watched the video of a press conference in the Asian iMirror website of MR, where he was listing the multiple occasions he had saved political brats from the reach of the law as president, rather sadly. MR does not have any concept of law and order despite being a lawyer. The Apey Minisu concept and by inference the opposite Anith Minisu concept dictated his actions.

In its 165 years history[Founded in 1851],there was no incident of murder, where a Thomian is alleged to have killed another Thomian-Wasim Thajudeen; Besides Yoshita and Wasim played Rugger together!
To call it a disgrace is an understatement!

I have a different take on this piece.

The absence of good governance in our country allows successive political leaders to abuse it. ( Pres. DBW you get a pass on my claim ).

We have to fix this first, people coming to power and robbing us blind.
MR took it to Martian Heights, covered in ” sil attire ” and murdering others along the way. Remember the JVP line ” Sil redha perowagena, mini marana anduwa “.
Why do you think son’s of politician’s replace their fathers in grabbing power ? to enjoy the ” gravy train ” it is.

As for RW keeping his lines of communications open with MR, it is normal practice of good politics and diplomacy. Thuggish MR can’t operate in this space. Thuggish Prabhakaran couldn’t operate in this space either. It wasn’t their cup of tea. They had to take the ” kaththa ” to the other bugger.

    Onwards to good governance.

These are words to be remembered by any parent and more especially to politicians in Sri Lanka who are anxious that their off-springs come into politics. While MR committed a nasty blunder with his sons and is facing the bitter consequences sone in the present regime too are obsevered to be promoting their children in the same manner. Continuing such blunders will set the wrong example to every youth in the country. Let such blundering politicians realise this and correct themselves.

Ex. President Rajapaksa and his immediate family in the eyes of law abiding Srilankan citizens, they are corrupted, looters, thieves, murderers, abductors and rapists.

In the eyes of International communities, they are war criminals.

Reinstated judiciary mechanism under the present Government shall try these goons for the crime involving their greediness to misuse the executive power of Ex. President.

When it comes to the later one I am afraid the local judiciary mechanism couldn’t be coping with the undue pressure from patriotism and the religious leaders. Perhaps this trial may be conducted outside the country via Skype or similar.

There are so many parents kept their mouth shut very tightly during Rajapakse tenure though their daughters were dragged out the vehicles they were travelling, from the house, from the offices by the sons for their day to day entertainment. Namal even went into the girls High Schools in the capital and danced with opposite sex. How on earth this was allowed to happen despite the parents always assume the schools are much safer for the children.

Please understand, this is not a political revenge as the father claimed but pretty much needed justice to the wrong doing that probably warn those within the government to think twice.
Assure to the normal citizens; we now have a law in the country, no matter poor, rich or politically powerful.

Namal and Yoshitha and many of their Thomian friends showed clearly what St.Thomas College teaches by way of values and civilized conduct. This is not something new. It started with the pernicious “play the game” philosophy by which any Thomian was obliged to help another Thomian regardless of ethics or morality.

St Thomas produced “Thomians” who are like “Appey kattiya” and produce the very same results. They are not at all different from the idiots produced by the university system who survive by “helping each other”…

St. Thomas stopped producing “Individuals” a long time ago.

If there are any Individuals produced by St,Thomas college, who are capable of standing up to a herd mentality, they should rally around their alma mater and inquire into how a Rajapaksa thug was admitted to the college. Remember that the warden at the time had rejected Mahindas application on the grounds that he did not have the character required to make a Thomian.

How come we did not have a similiar warden this time around…

Thomians should be ashamed of what their college has produced…and they should act now in order to reform their college and make it capable of producing individuals rather than gangsters…if they can.

The college should by now be a premier educational institution probably an independent university attracting the best student from the IOR_ARC, SAARC and BIMSTEC. Why has it failed to become this…? How many Thomians can think of such a development and if not WHY not?…How have they become such small minded men and petty devotees of nationalism with little to contribute to the world…Thomians should think about this.

I say it once again…IF there are any Thomians who are capable of functioning as individuals they should come forward to prevail upon the governing board to make the school what it can be and should have become long ago…

BRAVO MA’AM ! You’ve said what most Sri Lankans still fear to admit. All that plundered money could’ve been directed to help the majority of poor citizens of this country instead and help elivate this scourge but what this man and his family did is enough to ban him and the family from politics for LIFE. A chappie who couldn’t get decent OL’s was sent to Dartmouth Naval Academy where he failed and that’s something that most Sri Lankans still are not aware of. British Naval Academy is used to getting requests to train the children of dictators (almost all mutts) and they show they do it as it brings in the money but they don’t make it through. After all this what did he provide for the country ? Nothing except playing rugby for the Navy and there too grabbing its captaincy !

Anyone trying to whitewash a criminal family has to be one who was once a benefactor of illgotten wealth. No one else in their right minds would support a rogue dictator.

    Nirmalan Dhas.

    I agree.

Interestingly,Canon R.S.de Saram who was Warden for a number of years had refused admission to Anura Bandaranaike.Mind you the son of SWRD who himself was an illustrious Thomian.Anura,as a result ended up at Royal.
    Times have changed,standards have plunged!
This turned out to be advantageous to the Rajapakse siblings!
