Why Maithripala Sirisena Hates Sarath Foneska

By Vishwamithra

“Do not be afraid; our fate cannot be taken from us; it is a gift.” ~Dante Alighieri

Presidency goes a way beyond the holder’s personal likes and dislikes. It goes beyond the holder’s fears and pleasures; its scope is so large and extending beyond the personal boundaries of one’s lamentable limitations, a not-so-sophisticated intellect (if he has any) fails to embrace the immense responsibilities and demands that are rested upon the office. As this writer has enunciated in his previous columns, the fundamental function of the leader of the country is to protect and defend its people. However clever he thinks he is, when the weight of office falls on him with immeasurable intensity, if he is not ready or equipped to understand the nuanced attributes of the demands that he is expected to confront and respond with poise and stoicism, he will be judged by history, first as a miserable failure and then even as a traitor to the office he was elected to.

Fonseka

Politicians, unlike those bureaucrats who are appointed to execute the policies and programs spelt out and prepared by them, more often than not, tend to take the easy way out when the going gets rough and tough. Politicians by the very fact of impermanency of their being in power, especially in a democratic republic, usually resort to clever messaging of the facts; their rhetorical insinuations overtake the plain and simple expression of the status quo as related to innumerable crises his country faces on a daily basis; their immediate attention is to the sustenance of their power and in order to solidify that power, they apply all the skills they have accumulated over the years; whether they are intellectually matched with the complex tasks that lie ahead, they have proven to be perfectly matched in the deceptive techniques of this enterprise called politics.

When such despicable characters seek high office in the country, and when they are elected on the strength of the campaign and unusually electric rhetoric they used during those campaigns, an inscrutable phenomenon enters their minds; that inscrutable phenomenon begins to not only shape and define their activities that follow, it acts as a shield and armor against numerous attacks hurled at them by their opponents. Nevertheless, the path that these half-baked politicians choose to trek offers more rugged terrain than rosy meadows. The natural obedience to greed and lust becomes a second part of their very DNA and at the expense of the people who elected them to office, they begin a macabre game of indulgence and luxurious living styles that sometimes belittle those spent by old-rich millionaires and billionaires.

This, in short, is what has happened to our current Executive President. After being elected by the overwhelming majority of United National Party (UNP) supporters and the Tamils and Muslims, this half-baked politician has chosen to brandish his power in the most unethical and immoral fashion; he chose to betray his supporters and go to bed with his mortal enemies, so to speak.

Yet when the name of real war hero, Sarath Fonseka came up for the post of Field Marshall, he did not hesitate to decorate Fonseka with this rare distinction. He saw it fit to make such a magnanimous gesture at the time. But unfortunately for Sri Lanka and her people who were trying to raise their heads above water after a brutal 30-year war, tragedy struck again. On Easter Sunday of 2019, April 21, a well-coordinated and superbly organized terror attack was hurled at the 3 Christian/Catholic churches and three 5-Star hotels, namely, Shangri-La, Kingsbury and Cinnamon Grand, and killed more than 300 men, women and children and injured more than 700, the Executive President was on furlough in Singapore with his family. His fake patriotism and love for the people of his motherland came apart at its seams.

When it was revealed that the Executive was informed of an impending attack of the nature of the Easter Sunday Massacre, the people saw through this man’s utter inadequacy for the job he holds. Usually at moments of crisis, most political leaders own responsibility and pledge to go forward from then and there on. Passing the buck is not usually ascribed to great men. Maithripala Sirisena is not a great man. His deficiencies have been brought to light. What happened is now history. The way forward should be the only focus of leaders of a country. Harboring old grudges is petty and belittling to the office they hold.

Sirisena, you cannot handle the job of national security. You cannot be trusted with the defence apparatus and its sophisticated demands. Standing up and bowing their heads to you is not attributed to you personally; national security professionals do that for the office you hold. Misreading such bureaucratic obedience is a national crisis. Please do not try to hide behind the constitutional clauses and hold on to the Ministry of Defence. You still can be the Minister of Defence but hand over national security to an elected politician who has proven beyond any shadow of doubt or reservation, who can account for the defence and protection of our people.

Sarath Fonseka is a much maligned man. His bravery and undiluted courage was once the source of irritation and mistrust by another regime which was headed by three brothers. The first among them was the President, another was charged with the economy and the other who fled the army he once served in and was in hiding in another greener pasture. The brothers gathered their political and financial capital thanks to their other brother’s Presidency. Credited with almost three fourths (75%) of the national budget, these brothers are alleged to have ransacked the country’s coffers to their will and whims. The guy who is being promoted for Presidency in 2020, got one of his cronies to write a book and attribute the success of the war effort to his own name (..ta’s War). These empty vessels began their symphony of self-aggrandizements soon after the guns fell silent in the North and East.

Plutarch, named, upon becoming a Roman citizen, Lucius Mestrius Plutarchus, was a Greek biographer and essayist, known primarily for his Parallel Lives and Moralia, who is classified as a Middle Platonist said: “The mind is not a vessel to be filled but a fire to be kindled”. The empty vessels, that were the Rajapaksa brothers, did not understand the nuanced ways of thinking nor could they relate or empathise with the ordinary shades of life and its idiosyncratic elements. Instead of kindling their emptiness with wisdom and acumen, they opted for the alluring magic of material luxury and ego-enhancing flattery. But the horrendous felonies and misdeeds they are alleged to have committed are now pursuing them like a hyena in scavenging search of easy prey.

While the Executive is being charged, rightly or wrongly, with negligence of duty, Sarath Fonseka chose to wait in the shadows, but no more. Field Marshall Sarath Fonseka could not wait any longer. His remarks in the House of Parliament in the wake of the Easter Sunday Massacre, revealed the very character and traits of a fighter; of a man who knows what national security is, what it demands of those who are held responsible to protect and defend the land and her people.

It is being speculated that Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) is responsible for the Easter Sunday Massacre. ISIS is a very sophisticated terror organisation, perhaps second only to or on par with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam (LTTE). Who else is more qualified and equipped to confront ISIS than Sarath Fonseka, the one who destroyed Prabhakaran and his murderous organisation named LTTE. But Maithripala Sirisena does not see it that way. His anger, jealousy and pettiness have clouded his judgment;

The Law and Order Ministry is a double-edged knife; that is how Sirisena perceives it. Fonseka will man that job and destroy not only all forces that try to destroy our lives, he might go after the Rajapaksas with the same commitment to democracy and rule of law and expose them, once and for all. The alleged pressure on Sirisena sourcing from the Rajapaksas might be unbearable for Sirisena. The man who beat and brought Prabhakaran to his knees, is being held in limbo because he can do the job. But, it seems, placing the country before petty and inconsequential likes and dislike is a hard choice for our Executive. It is indeed a tragedy beyond Shakespearian genre. One wonders whether holding Sarath Fonseka away from the job of Law and Order is part of a deal that involves nomination from the Pohottuwa. That would be even a more unspeakable tragedy.

I think Sarath Fonseka Hates Maithripala sirisena. I thin Sarath fonseka is more Pro-Ranil, Maithrpala Hater and Rajapakse hater. May Be SF’s children are living Overseas, he very lenient to Terrorists and Sinhala Terrorist handler Ranil. Ashu Marasinghe, another CIA agent was behind Sarath fonseka while he was talking, I am pretty sure, Sarath Fonseka is not himself now, he is talking for Ranil, and the new national Security legislation. and for Rishad Bathiuddin. I am pretty sure, rishad Bathiuddin or QATAR paid all these people very handsomely because of thins.
there is an article which talked about CT, Dr. Dayan Jayathilake, NATO, Russian and china and India and USA etc., etc., and what is going on in Sri lanka. . As usual, CT was trying to cheat on that. I know Sri lankan media is like that. cheap. cut some one’s neck and get rich. Sarath Fonskea also wants Maithripala sirisena to hand over the formerly very corrupt MINISTRY OF LAW AND ORDER TO RANIL WICRAMSINGHE OR TO SARATH FONSEKA LOOKS LIKE RANIL IS RUNNING THE PUPPET. Theese days, saint the Mangala Samaraweera is hiding and his whole extended family is in the parliament and are ministry secretaries and they are very frindly with the Jackal opposition too. Pretty good politics. Sri lankan dummies vote these people. when the LTTE war coming to end Mahinda Rajapakse went on a Official Trip to Jordan. I think Ranil went to Nuwara eliya, I am not talking about MS, following the MR’s Foot steps to Jordan in those days.

Why shoulsd we care about SIRISENA ‘s hatreds, what we need is to focus properly on the country s and nation s security.
      :
Just because MY3 as the elected president feels that SF s face is not nice enough to please him, he should not keep the great personality away from lanken defence related solutions.
That is so stupid to keep the SF away from the defence meetings these days. This started, BP Rapakashe in his second term, that is being continued by WP Sirisena today, risking the national security.
Sirisena s profile proves to be not professional enough to LEAD this nation.
We fought wars that went up to 30 years… but seem to have understood anything in terms of THE RESPONSIBLITIES of a leader. He has proved the world that he would even go beyond country s constitution if it would be favourable for his aims.
That he proved few months ago, according to lanken SUPREME court verdict against his abusive nature – on dissolution of parliament … not by abidying rules.

Sarath Fonseka is a western agent now. They a;; say we are saints and we are for you. but, people have to be careful. I think Sarath Fonseka is better off if he retires to where his children are.

Sarath Fonseka thinks he is the only Army General who could do it and besides, he was there through out the war.

SF lays it as it is………not a typical Sri Lankan politician style. Sri Lankan politicians are full of sh&t. SF is a military man and he really fought the war unlike the petrol station coolie Goat Parayapaksa. So he does not care about people’s opinion.

The I felt myself as I was reading this. I also listened to him, Mr Fonseka had no whatsoever fears to keep the facts and figures away from his speech as any other conventional politicians would do.
Here we perfectly know, that the elected president is taken to hostage by former President and his notorious loyalists for their come back by every means. Entire political structure is exaggeratingly rotten as nothing could help them easily. President being an uneducated, unlernt, inexperienced person in leadership does not seem to know what should have been placed before. He may have thought, no matter anyone would criticise him and his ridiculous behaviours, he should have to leave the island for THIRUPATHI and then to Singapore (Sex wellness trip).
President sounds to have been doing what he can to tackle the defence related issues, but it is more or less like, an immatured child would take the decisions in that regard.
I agree with Mr FONSEKA making it very clear if over 100 of potential killers are roaming in the city, how dare the president say, that almost everything is now under control… and our forces could do the rest within few weeks, very naive of him to uttered the kind of low level, ludicrous statements as one got elelcted by 6.2 mio of voters that stood against BP Rajaakshes cruel rule in 2015.

It doesn’t take a genius to know that Rajapaka’s didn’t like SF but kept him as the commander till the end because of SFs abilities.
After the war they put him behind bars for the same reason.
SF maybe peculiar in his ways, but when it comes to defeating terrorists he has a special gift that outweighs all his peculiarities.
He knows how they think and how to be a step ahead.
Anyone who thinks of himself to be a terrorist at heart should be afraid, very Afraid when they hear FMSF name.

WOW.. Looks like Vishvamithra has got the Media Manager Gig of the Field Marshall (Retired of course ) Ponseka.

I know UNP are now desperately trying to get Ponseka as the Minister of Defense..
    How clever.
They must be having sweet dreams of the Field Marshall building Gallows on Galle Face for our War Heroes and their Political Supporters , before going after Ibramims and their Politicians….

But the problem is , Will Army Commander,. although he is a friend of Dr Ranil, take orders from this retired Field Marshall ?…
What about the Army Commando Regiment and those brave Officers who are now working O/T to round up the Suicide Cadres, and provide safety to the whole Inhabitant Population?.

What about the Police hierarchy who are now working as efficient as the Army, after Dr Ranil’s UNP boy Pujitha got the flick..
And dobs in Muslims who come to bribe them even with big sums of money to get favours?.

    Sira is no push over,
DR Rnil and his pack of Hyenas would have devoured Sira alive, if Sira was a stupid fella.

Even if the impossible happens and Ponny gets at least Dr Ranil’s nephew’s Gig ,can Ponny save the UNP, let alone the Country?.

If Dr Ranil vacates and give the Field Marshall the UNP ticket to go after Sirisena at the next Election, UNP may have a slight chance.
That is if Mr Sampathar, Abraham , Hakeem , Bathudeem, Rahuman , Sally and Hezbulla all campaign for the Field Marshall with Dr Rajitha from Panadura..

Sumanasekera – despite your lack of education and impartiality, you might want to get the Field Marshall ‘s name spelt right. It’s Fonseka beginning with a ‘F’.

If you compare Fonseka with Gota

      both are public racists
both have committed war crimes and crime against humanity
both worked under a british colonel in the late 1980s
both were rewarded green card for working for uncle Sams global strategy
both have/had ambition to become president of this island
both wanted to kill each other.
both were in the same search and destroy team.
both claimed to have won the war

Why choose one against the other?

Once that is settled we will deal with Fonseka/Ponna seka controversy, the world’s most fatal crisis, which needs answers urgently.

He is an asset for us, no doubt. But still not equipped with the art of handling Geo politics.
    ..
With the current situation he is a perfect candidate for presidency. Because currently security and sovereignty is the job of the President.
    ..
If we don’t get Rajapaksha, Ranil and their henchman out of the picture, their is no hope for Srilankans.

So what do you (SGunasekara) think would be the candidates of your choice for better future ?
      .
Do we have them AT ALL on our list today in the rotten island ?
      .
SF led young politicians could do lot more to the country than anyone else, is my belief since he is no means a conventional POLTICIIAN. He has the balls to call a spade a spade. That I like and see in him as a greater potential to do a great job by bringing this nation to a well disiplined and active folks.

A lion can’t play the role of a wolf. Geo politics are not played in the open, but only in shade.
        ..
He Got caught to Ranil many times in the past. This has affected his popularity.
        ..
His only option is UNP, if he wants to win. With Ranil heading the party the success rate will be less.
        ..
If SP becomes the leader and he decides to be the PM and back SF, you cannot stop SF winning the race.
        ..
SP is a born politician. He knows when to hold and fold like a poker player.

    Dear Vishwamithra –

RE: Why Maithripala Sirisena Hates Sarath Foneska?

“Presidency goes a way beyond the holder’s personal likes and dislikes. It goes beyond the holder’s fears and pleasures; its scope is so large and extending beyond the personal boundaries of one’s lamentable limitations, a not-so-sophisticated intellect (if he has any) fails to embrace the immense responsibilities and demands that are rested upon the office. “

    1. Sirisena is a Sinhala Buddhist, and he is jealous of capable and successful Field Marshall Sarath Fonseka. ( Ref, Sinhala Buddhists vs, Tamils Muslims etc. )

    2. When Sirisena meets Fonseka face to face, he wets the whole sarong.

    3. It is like a women. When a prettier women is placed next to a not so pretty women, the not so pretty women becomes jealous and very agitated.

    4. So Sirisena won’t appoint Sarath Fonseka as the Law and Order Minister..Never mind the hundreds who died, and the Satan following Tauheed terrorists roaming free, trying to get to hell.

    5. Sirisena is a Traitor, Sevalaya (sleaze), Pachaya (liar), Mala-Pertethaya ( living off the dead) , the curse of the land.

Solution: Sarath Fonseka to be the Presidential candidate, and beat off those egoistic corrupt and incompetent politicians, and beat them in their own political game.

Yes! Sira cannot handle and look after our national security. So is BOND WICKS who is supposed to have told the then IGP, “put all that aside”, when the contents of the threat were informally informed. The Field Marshall! Yes! He is knowledgeable but those who know him will never give the job. ALL THESE PEOPLE ONLY ARE QUALIFIED AND PRACTISE IS FEATHERING THEIR OWN NESTS. People! They are the cannon-fodder. Remember! LTTE also did the same thing when they formed the human shield to cover themselves up.

for National Security lapses, International community in colombo, UNHCR, NGOs and Human right businessman or dollar Kaakkaas are mostly responsible. If the Defence Secretary sent army to cordon and search, Wahabis opened fire and had a gun fight. Then every one I mentioned would take their hands up and start screaming HUMAN RIGHTS of Wahabis, WAR CRIMES, MINORITIES are not treated well, and R2P and need to send american Army. Just read the Washington wrote new 80 page National Security Legislation. Sarath Fonseka thinks that is the best that can happen to sri lanka. I think KAru Jayasooriya, Ranil and SF will fight for it. SF is looking for a fight with MS who appointed SF’s Senior as the DS. O think MS tried to chase out Ranil because of Orumiththa Nadu constitution and National security legislation because both of these, Ranil waiting to report to Washington saying both Acts are approved and help me to become the President. I heard, Washington also got prepared for it recently by inviting Top Judges to come for a training course. But, We have British LAw, shara Law and thesawalamei

    Vishwamithra,
Your fire and fury on the ill-lit Gamaya from the paddy fields of Polonnaruwa is spot on, I fear you have lavished far too much praise and undue importance on the swollen-headed Fonseka. The War against Prabhakaran and his LTTE was not won by some special military skill of this almost self-appointed Field Marshall. It was won because powers in the region and outside felt VP was becoming a danger to the region. If Fonseka was such a superman that you seem to suggest, how is that he could not bring it to close much earlier. After all Fonseka was around in leading positions in the army all that time. You cannot deny he had over 250,000 men and modern warfare equipment at his command to defeat a virtual barefoot “army” of less than 10,000 fighters (State figures) The question should be why with the advantage of this overwhelming ratio Fonseka and SLA sacrificed the lives of lakhs of young rural ranviru for decades. Not to mention wasting billions of dollars which this poor country could ill afford.
For the love of me, I cannot understand this fetish of wanting to appoint Fonseka to a commanding position in internal security with this record of failure. Of course, the embarrassed Sinhalese people were thirsting for a “victory soon” and were asking why the armed forces are almost losing. The thieving, salivating Rajapakses and Fonseka filled in the vacant space. While Kobbekaduwa and other Gentemen officers fought the LTTE with great care not to harm the Tamil population Fonseka-Gota’s army took the entire Tamil nation as hostage inflicting death on many and serious injury on tens of thousands in the belief “they were only Tamils” They cared little for collateral damage and civilians lives.

A truly nice write up to promote SF for the next presidency. What disturbs me is can the whole credit of decimating VP is attributed to SF. If so, then what the Indians, Pakistani ,Chinese ,British, Americans and other European countries did contribute in the war and the Genocide all should go to the credit of SF. Will SF prove himself clean above all others and then come for Presidential race?

I harbour no hatred against any individual when the whole flock are of the same colour, creed and Breed. SF has and deserves all glories for his part in the war. But in the final stage the prime actors were the MR brothers.

If he is the War Hero and a clean Hero, I will vote ONLY for him if I am convinced.

Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka is a HERO.
He endorsed Sirisena before Presidential election in 2014.
Sirisena can not remember anything now.

Sirisena is a WORLD NUMBER ONE UNGRATEFUL MAN.

Sirisena must remove his first name “MAITHREE”.

Sirisena has no maithriya at all.

He takes revenge from everyone who criticize him.
Field Marshal is the only CAPABLE and ABLE person who can hold Defense and Law & Order Ministerial post in our country.

Sirisena is afraid of Field marshal.
Sirisena knows that definitely he will lose his seat after election.
Sirisena must be brought to justice and punish him rather IGP and Former Defense Secretary.
Certain authorities have informed Sirisena about this threat in advance but as authorities say Sirisena was looking up the roof of the building.
This foolish Sirisena completely destroyed our peaceful country.

That is called not UNGRATEFULNESS but uneducated nature.
      :
Sirisena’s current day struggle is lack of knoweldge in many areas keep him away from many personalities. Not just RW but also with any of the secretaries incl. Austin Fernando, he failed to do the job well. That has lot more to do with SIRISENA than any one being joined to work under him.
      :
Sirisena is an example – people to have misled in a Democracy and became a leader thanks to the people s voters. But all these voters never thought that the guy would ever backfired and betrayed them.
      :
Today people put the blame on former Prez CBK for handpicking the man, but how could she be able to learn the GENUINENESS of SIRISENA.
      :
I believe, MITHREE should not become swollen for not having done th eleast since he became the president. PM-RW has to face it, and SIRISENA earned the respect… this game should not work this way… Surely, if RW had been in the Presidential seat, those 260 would have been alive today.
No 500 or more would have been injured since GREAT intelligence men had done their job to the letter.

Very well articulated. The nation was robbed the opportunity of SF being the elected President and we know the way he was castigated and how those who feared his fearlessness put him away stealing the glory and praise he deserved as the commander of the army doing away with the menace this country was plagued with for three decades even at the cost of his own life.

Such is the character Sri Lanka needs in a leader. SF has no hidden agenda to amaze wealth like the Rajapakse’s and their stooges did for a decade and more. He has a love for country.

It is time for Sri Lanka to bring him back as President as we have no one else who can clean the mess, the deep …t we are in.

Wasting one’s pen and ink writing about the imbecile, moron, even a bastard (his late younger brother who was murdered bears ample testimony to this label) with a serious mental and intellectual dis-functioning, a low life, back stabber – M Sirisena merits any space in any of the print, electronic and or other media. Not that his one time compatriots merit either.

It is time for Sri Lanka to depart from career politicians – the family rule of the Senanayakes, Bandaranayakes, Rajapakses, Wickramasinge, Nanayakkara, Gunasekera,….. where like in a rely the baton is passed on from father to son, to brother to nephew.

We need a REAL leader. Sri Lanka was deprived through manipulation by Basil creating and causing intimidation tactics on the then Elections Commissioner declaring the legitimately elected SF as NOT the president.

Let us arise and bring SF back as President for the country’s sake and its future.

While delivering a presentation titled “US Foreign Policy towards China and South Asia and what it means for Sri Lanka” at the BMICH in Colombo, former US Ambassador Robert O Blake Jr who is now Senior Director (India and South Asia) of McLarty Associates has told that when Gotabaya Rajapaksa was the Defence Secretary, there was a high-level group of technocrats coordinating different intelligence units operating in the country effectively which led to prevent terror attacks in the country. He has suggested that the incumbent government should establish such a unit.
    ——-
Kurunduwatte Royal Dumbos in this Government who think that they know everything compared with Medamulana ‘Baiyas’ ruined all the good things Rajapakse regime established. People in this country are paying the price for the incompetence of these two legged donkeys. But unfortunately people cannot sack these dumbos.

The major problem in Sri lanka is that niether the people of other faiths or Muslims are informed about the various Schools of thoughts of Islam ,due to this the communities of other faiths dont understand the bigger picture ,which is the Thought of the School which matters the most , which is the main constitution of the ideology which governs from intention, rituals, dressing, superstitions, food , education yes the whole lifestyle.

Today the one and only progressive and most successful and accepted Muslim Community in the whole world and who really take care of their community while not neglecting their Islamic obligations to help others and take care of the Environment are none other than The (Shia) Ismaili Muslims.yes they are very much muslims and even better.

Asha Devos of The Ismaili Sri Lanka Community is the best example.

      Fathom Right,

The Wahhabi Salafi Tauhidi ISIs clones such as Tauheed Jamat etc. follow the Devil, Satan , Iblis per the prescient Hadith of Najd per Islamic Sources. They have proven again and again over the past 250 years that they follow Satan, Iblis. Just Google:

The Wahhabi sack of Karabala on April 21, 1802, where 5,000 Shia Muslims were killed.
Since then there were many, many incidents globally and locally including the April 21, 2019, Easter Bombings, 217 years later.

      Hadith of Najd

In you tube, search, Al Azhar cleric says Wahhabi Salafism is Satanic Faith Horn of Satan

Well written, but your piece does not do justice to the title. Is it only the Rajapakses who are holding Sirisena back from appointing Fonseka as the Minister of Law & Order, or is there more? That is what the people of this country has to know. Are there other sinister forces that are preventing Fonseka from it? that would have to be given serious thought too.

Anyway lets leave that subject for another day!

Tossing the options, we as the people of Sri Lanka have, come December when the Presidential elections have to be held one thing comes to my very controversially. The people in the fray as of today are MS, Gota, RW, SP, KJ. PR and a few others.

Like somebody said recently, Yes! we need a strong leader and he should be beyond suspicions of corruption. Apart from that the SLFP, SLPP, & the UNP have not done enough for our country. We need an overall change.

What comes to my little mind is for Fonseka to join the JVP and contest the Presidential on their ticket. MARK MY WORDS.. We will have a winner.

Hard times need difficult decisions. Fonseka took a decision and contested in 2010, but was denied the Presidency because of a COMPUTER JILMART and a very weak Elections Commissioner at the helm.

This time it is going to be a time when ALL SRI LANKANS know exactly what we want. My gamble is to see Fonseka with the JVP, it may be wishful thinking but “Who will bell the cat”. If Fonseka and the JVP could work together with both having clean hands I am sure the majority would be with them.

Whether we Sri Lankans are blessed to have a good leader “Only time will Tell” because we had hopes when we voted in Sirisena, but ultimately what a JOKER we have got.

We are NOT BLESSED as a nation to have a good leader, and it is time now that we had one.

Do not believe anything to do with hatred, but to ensure to keep a conducive environment to continue committing frauds and safeguarding criminals. If the parliamentarians were honest, by now President would have been impeached.

You mean RW and UNP which completely failed against the LTTE , betrayed intelligence operatives safe houses to the LTTE, and this time undervalued our intelligence agencies, would have been better at fighting this until then unknown Islamic threat ?

Vishwa try telling this to our Lankan Expert in terrorism Rajeewa. (I am still waiting for his answer which I had posted few days ago). Now it is clear that few of the suicide bombers had completed training and returned to Lanka combat ready in 2014. SF says it takes 7 to 8 years to train such layman. It is now clear beyond doubt that India had provided information as early as in 2018.Because of the antipathy to our neighbors, Lankan security too ignored it. But during the war against LTTE every tit bit provided by the very same people was eagerly accepted. Its comical to see Lankans trying to deflect when confronted with facts.( They try picking on spelling errors and missing commas/period).MS has promised to wipe out??? ISIS before coming elections , which he has set as his dead line????/ . Gotha of course came out the the very next day requesting to bring him back to power to do the same . The police and army are advising the public to go about with their routine without apprehension because they believe the situation is now under control.Public is waiting for the MS appointed commission report for some answers. MS is threatening to put Hemasiri and Pujitha behind bars. My question is how reliable and transparent will it be ??? (only if someone,s wish is to spend retirement in five star Lankan prisons)

Give Field Marshall Sarath Fonseka the job make use of his experience
And eradicate terrorism once and for all.

    No time to play politics

    He has demonstrated his capability.

All ethnic communities , religions, political parties, international community, business community should unite in this effort.

If President Sirisena Blocks his appointment it will be written in history that He betrayed the nation.

what a tragic situation the people of Sri Lanka is faced with. we have so called leaders like MY3,Ranil,Mahinda and Gota all got-together to prevent SF being given the defense portfolio. In the current circumstances it is only SF the public have faith in handing security of this country. People of this country must teach all these so called leaders a good lesson in the next election.

Appoint SF and pass the New National Security Legislation. Then Sri lanka will become a Thahiti or a Puertorico, Monash, Macau Or Argentina like country. Present Sarath Fonseka is not the same Army commander Sarath Fonseka. Now, Sarath Fonseka means business.

This country became an utter mess with the introduction of this present system of Presidential rule, and the prime concern for all of us should be to get rid of this system first.
For those of you who come up with the contention that it was due to the above obnoxious system that we were able to win over the Tigers I ask, why was JRJ not able to annihilate them.
Thanks further to this system we have cultivated another set of Tigers or whatever you may call them. Even at this very critical moment the correct thing is not being done thanks to this most despicable system of governance.

As with most Sinhalese, Vishwamitra is preoccupied with the question: who won the war? Gota or Sarath F? Prabhakaran lost the war because the foreign forces, US, India, UK etc. changed sides in the climate of their own battles with terrorism and in that context, agreed with the characterisation of the Tigers as terrorists. This made Prabhakaran lose the war. The question regarding Gota and Sarath F. is a futile one not fit to be pursued at this time.
It is clear Sirisena is no leader and is incapable of dealing with the situation. It is not megalomania but simple fear that he has been found to be lacking that makes him go through these contortions. What will happen to him when he loses the election, as he knows he surely will? That too does not matter. What matters now is the security of the country.
In the interests of the national security, politicians must stop fighting each other. The public is not in mood for it. Instead, they must form a national government, find good bureaucrats and police to ensure public security and restore normalcy without causing fear in any section of the public. Is that too much to ask?
