Several allies of the UPFA including Wimal Weerawansa’s National Freedom Front today expressed their intention of fielding former President Mahinda Rajapaksa as the Prime Ministerial candidate at the upcoming general elections.
Those who seem to be working towards building this coalition presently includes Wimal Weerawansa, Vasudeva Nanayakkara, Udaya Gammanpila and Dinesh Gunawardena.
However, UPFA General Secretary Susil Premajayantha said that no such plan has been made with regard to the upcoming polls.
Meanwhile, when questioned about it by the media at the Prison Hospital today MR said he has not received an invitation for such an endeavour still while adding he is unaware of it because he arrived in Colombo straight from his hometown.

Natural justice to the Sri Lankan people requires getting Mahinda Rajapakse back to political action through whatever means. Only that will correct the electoral robbery of Jan 8 when the presidential election was robbed through conspiracy and NGO orchestrated electoral fraud.
Mahinda, after all, is the leader who saved the country from the LTTE menace (wheres Ranil and Chandrika nearly handed over the country to Prabhakaran), and has won a clear majoririty of the ‘heartland votes’ of Sri Lankans, winning 91 elctorates and 5.7 million votes.
If the SLFP does not want him, he should form his own grouping and fight to continue to his service to the country. Though the UNP might benefit from such a division, this may be the hidden hope of ‘back bone kess Sirisena and conspiring Chandrika who owe a debt to the UNP.
If Mahinda contests under any flag, Ranil, Sira and Chandrika will go to hell in a handbasket.

Vasudeva further said when he questioned Mahinda about this, Mahinda had simply brushed the matter aside by saying, “Oh, that is an agreement signed by two Americans.”

MR might contest through the MEP. Interesting to see how many seats the MEP will get when MR joins the party.How many of the 4.7 million who voted for MR will vote for the MEP?We will be able to see his strength when the SLFP party shield is removed from him.If MEP does very well with many candidates in parliament,then MR will try to get back into the SLFP as its leader one day just like Chandrika did when she came back to the SLFP from the party that Vijaya kumaratunge founded.Chandrika also left the SLFP because of anura and sirima.
