As A Politician, Coming After Me Is OK

By Namal Rajapaksa

Namal Rajapaksa MP

Namal Rajapaksa MP

Dear supporters and friends,

As you may have already heard, certain individuals are coming after me with a vengeance, trying to implicate me in a number of alleged wrongdoings. We expected this. Those who are older than I am will remember well that this is the usual fate that members of the SLFP must suffer whenever we lose elections. It has happened in the past, and the same is happening this time also.

I want to tell all my supporters that these allegations have no basis. More than being angered, I am saddened. While we never claimed to be perfect, we always had the best interest of the country and the Sri Lankan people in mind. This is true not only of Mahinda Rajapaksa but of us as his children as well. We were brought up to take responsibility for our actions. As such, if I have done any wrong, I am fully prepared to face the consequences. However, I am certain of my innocence with regard to the outrageous allegations that have been put forth against me.

As a politician, coming after me is OK because I have the strength and support system to face it. But unfortunately, I’m not the only one. Many of our strong supporters – ordinary citizens – from around the country have also undergone various types of harassment. Most of these individuals didn’t break the law – they only supported Mahinda Rajapaksa, and they are being punished for that choice.

I appeal to the new President to take measures to safeguard our supporters around the country and to take action against those who are carrying out this harassment. I hope he will remember that these supporters of Mahinda Rajapaksa were once strong supporters of his as well, so please ensure their safety.

We welcome the new government’s initiatives of “good governance,” but we make a strong appeal not to allow certain individuals misuse this initiative to fulfill personal vendettas under the guise of “good governance.”

Woah so YOU can really write? I bet its an article written by one of your dad’s speech writers. What makes U think U are an EXTRA ordinary citizen and others are ordinary? who were u like 10 years ago? Namal who? A NOBODY..U rode on your fathers power. Touch your soul and check IF you did the right thing at the Lawyers exam? why were you EXTRA ordinary and sat for the exam alone inside an air conditioned auditorium, where the VC of the Uni helped you to answer the papers? How is that when the Mahanayaka’s of Kandy objected to your holding the NIGHT RACES your dad and U did NOT respect their wishes? How can you go and worship them now? How is it that ALL three siblings did not have an issue playing Rugby while 2 of you were NOT in the Army, Navy or Air Force officers? ABUSE OF POWER I say… Now stop trying to portray yourself as a victim.. the masses already know how ugly you are and what character you all possess. YOU all NEVER thought for a moment that a day will dawn where YOU ALL would be LESS than ordinary citizens..for plundering the wealth of the country. How is it that YOU were able to amass a fleet of LUXURY cars with the salary of an ORDINARY MP? Enough is Enough… people are tired of your lies.. OH yeah your dad bought you TOY helicopters… the REAL ones were just GIFTS by connected businessmen like Chandram Ratnam who gifted a 2 seater plane to Yoshita or the ones owned by your relative Sajin Vas who made zillions of rupees within a space of 8-10 years to own a fleet of helicopters by stealing the national wealth. Where as he could NOT meet a check drawn for a mere FIVE THOUSAND RUPEES, Which was returned by the bank for lack of funds… what a turn of events… Now get a life..

..Touch your soul and check IF you did the right thing …..” Can Hon.
Namal Rajapkse M.P. do me a favour, on behalf of your Family please?

Request your father to publish his Declaration of Assets form as given
to the EC last, as the EC has been told that it is a sealed envelope and
therefore SECRET! It could after all contain some blank papers, I fear?

Like father, like son! “Gahe Kola gaha lagama vatai”
I don’t blame you for what you are! I blame your upbringing and the social support system you talk of. Today your father has not only to pay for his sins, but for your sins too, which too he has to take responsibility for. Recently I saw some comments to a Twitter message you had sent, asking you to beg forgiveness from your father for his defeat.. I believe it should be the other way around. He and your mother should be asking for your forgiveness for what you and your siblings have become.
I was one time the managing director of a company. My son, who is a few years older than you, once visited me at the factory, on a personal matter. When he was getting ready to leave my driver wanted to go and drop him home which was just 4 kms away. I said no and that if he could come by by bus he, could go back the same way too. My driver protested that it was my vehicle and that I was being unfair by my son. I told him that the vehicle belonged to the company and was assigned for my personal use, which did not include running errands for my children. The running costs of the vehicle were being paid for by the sweat of the workers toiling in the factory. My son, at 17, was not probably happy at the time, but today he is thankful to me for the example I was able to set him. I am proud to say that my two sons are utterly honest and upright young men today. I wish your father had run the country that way. Sri Lanka would truly have been the Miracle of Asia, he would have probably been a Nobel Laureate and you and your siblings, humbly basking in his glory. Instead what we have today is the ‘Debacle of Asia’, an Ex President under investigation, and 3 sons who are vilified at every turn and for good reason too. There are lessons to be learned here for many especially for those under the new dispensation.

Most Sri Lankans are not fools enough to carried away by your blabbering, the best thing is at least you can express your feelings to the fellow Sri Lankans through CT which is available in Sri Lanka thanks to your departure.

Don’t jump the gun, we would soon know, along with evidence what three musketeers have done to the country with the parental blessings. We thank Sumane, Mohana Peiris et al for giving false confidence as well as legal credibility to MR go for early hustings to get ok to continue for another eight years so as to get a chance for his off springs, siblings to have gala time here with state resources. Now with dry season for MR and Family, we will see his performance at the Parlimentary election. All his Sinhala, Buddhist, Pseudo- patriotic gimmick would not help MR, WIHILU, Gaman to keep their nostril above the water level to prevent them getting asphyxiated.

    Dear Son,

I have been totally against your father’s regime for the corruption, nepotism, cronyism that he openly encouraged. Your father won a war for the majority of people in Sri Lanka but he lost their peace and love for him for his vindictive ways and insecure style of governance. By what he did to SF, the people of the north, his political opponents and journalists who had opposing viewpoints is unpardonable.

Son, I feel sorry for you because your father has exposed you and your brothers to a corrupt way of living. This is public knowledge and not what the opposition politicians are doing to you. The opposition never defeated your father the people did because they were sick of his 18th amendment and other manipulative ways of governance. All of you were so drunk with power that you couldn’t see the masses cry. Your father called for early elections not because of his confidence of winning but he knew his popularity was receding.

Namal my son, You have the audacity to place this article and to express your views on CT, which is one of many websites your father and uncle banned. Your family particularly your two uncles Gota and Basil have effectively destroyed your future in politics at least in the immediate future. The people your father surrounded himself were of poor public standing Wimal, Douglas, Mervin, Sajin and the likes all ruined your father and your political career. You can rebuild yourself and turn a new page should you reform and be truthful and a honest politicians. Social media played a big role in informing people of your ugly and corrupt style of family rule. You may not understand me son because you are only a little boy in politics. But someday you will.

I was and still I am opposed to your father’s style of rule but honestly I was heartbroken too to see your family leave the Presidential house and return to your village on the 9th of Jan. I am just human to think that way son. Whether you like it or not your father’s upbringing of this 3 sons have failed you but at least now use the teachings from your former School to reform and rebuild your career. I wish you all the very best my son. I hope you will emerge a great leader one day.

He’s speaking up for his supporters, you lousy bunch of revengeful bullies! He’s quite ready to take all the allegations and lies thrown on him, but he pleads for those who only suported them, and are now being threatned.

Sri Lanka will be the loser if we are to be like some South American junta which knows nothing but to lie, slander and kill the losing side. I hope Sri Lanka can show the world that we are a far superior and civilized nation. I hope Sri Lanka will still use the Rajapaksa ability and brilliance, or we can kiss goodby to any future progress.

ramona therese fernando says “I hope Sri Lanka will still use the Rajapaksa ability and brilliance”

Brilliance in what ? plundering the country’s wealth, methods of instigating communal disharmony? taking deceitful revenge on Gen SF and rest of his supporters, murdering it’s citizens, nepotism and finally trying to take the country towards a civil war ? grooming balu sena’s, cutting deals with pro ltte diashora ? endless ability of stupidity !

Their brilliance can preached in Weilikda to their like minded stooges.

        Afzal,

1)They never plundered the country’s wealth. Statistics:

        http://www.worldbank.org/en/country/srilanka

        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_Sri_Lanka

        http://www.forbes.com/sites/jonspringer/2014/10/30/ten-reasons-to-invest-in-sri-lanka/

They should lay out all their assets and show the country that what they have is meant for country investment. Any extra, and we would have to go digging into Sirisena’s, Ranil’s, Chandrika’s assets.

In building up a capitalistic society, there is always a section of society that is sidelined. Rajapaksa gave assurance that time should be given for profit making.

2)Communal disharmony : BBS did it. Rajapaksa should have arrested and dismantled BBS. But he was afraid of that far right Sinhala racist base. He should have known it was a small base. He lost the elections because of them. That doesn’t necessarily make him make him racist. He built up all the Aluthgama homes and businesses after the riots. Riots never happened again (perhaps for a few small isolated incidents).

        3) Fonseka : They never took revenge on him. They let him operate after some time. Fonseka tried to betray the success of the war. If Fonseka had won, Rajapaksa would have probably been sent to the Hague.

        4) Pro-LTTe diaspora : not sure of that , but all sides were trying to get the advantage of them.

All in all, with the statistics given above, Rajapaksa’s did more for the country than any other known president/prime minister.

        Ebola da Silva,
Not at all. I am a kind and concerned Lankan expat. who cares deeply for the motherland, and for those who opened their lives and reputations to the public, so the public could benefit. We are truly unevolved savages, if we can’t uphold the dignity of our country by having more sophisticated options for dealing with our former ruling politicos who have done so much for us.

          ramona therese fernando
You are an expatriate aha? You take these figuere by the world bank awikipedia tyell the rapassas were smart. Actually you are too decent to not understand the reality becuase you are not in the sri lankan scene. Everything which was projected internationally and locally was a utter blatant lie by rajapassas. 7% growth everything is a lie. Wait and see all the gilmart that went on for last 10 years will be shown to the public.

          • 0
            0

            Rohan Polwatte,
All that is projected internationally is probably true, because other countries trade with Sri Lanka also. All those stock market indices would be linked to other countries stock market indices.

Guess some kind of ‘gilmart’ will show up because Rajapaksa wanted to open up the port city and casino to uphold/combat all the other projects. If they opened those up, your cost of living would have improved greatly. The casino and port city would have probably been the last major commercial infrastructure deal before we laid in the arms of China.

The new gosl will only let things lag a bit (with no port city and casino) and pretend to show how bad the situation was before they open up everything to US. US will do all their smaller scale buying and selling ventures, and make the whole island into big set of corporate offices(paddy-lands and all).

The choices were to lay in the arms of China and retain heritage and sovereignty, or tango with US and become one of their territories that do not have voting representation in the United States Congress, and not entitled to electoral votes for US President.

R.T. Fernando or whoever you REALLY are:
A village idiot like you can hardly be expected to understand the irony of Namal Rajapaksa the thug offspring of a thug father writing a plea to Colombo Telegraph after the blocking his father imposed on it has been removed by the people who defeated his father!
This little gem who puts the progeny of Saddam Hussein and Khaddafy to absolute shame needs to be dragged before a court of law, sentenced and the sentence carried out in full view of those whom he has tortured for so long.
NOTHING IS TOO BAD FOR CRIMINALS LIKE HIM!

        Palayang Yako,

Middle Eastern irony is different from Buddhistic Lankan irony. Buddhistic Lankan irony uses the value of all wholesome deeds, minuses the unwholesome deeds, and comes to a decision on how to invest and profit for an even greater wholesomeness.

See what happened in Libya, for example. America took over and produced the miserable outcome. Now Sri Lanka has greater Buddhistic awareness than that. Sri Lanka will give due honor to the family that built up Sri Lanka’s infrastructure. Sri Lanka will give prominence to the family that gave us the foundations to create a capitalistic society, while yet retaining heritage values. Therefore Sri Lanka will not be the fools to upset that precarious balance.

Going after Sarath FONSEKA with a vengeance.
Blocking Colombo telegraph that you’ve the temerity to write to.
Installing your incompetent planter boy nishantha as head of Sri Lankan airlines where he abuses resources and treats professionals as servants to service his air hostess mistress
Night races against the wishes of Mahanayakes
Your close relatives as ambassadors to USA AND Russia.

Abusing military traditions to force your brother into the Navy.
Then abusing power to send him to Dartmouth

Well he would not be writing it if they were. I was giving the Rajapakse full credit for the peaceful transition of power, until I read in the Guardian that his father and uncle, together with a couple of cronies high up, engineered a coup that thankfully because of patriotism and loyalty to the country, the Army, despite being under the thumb of Gotabhaya and other security forces, did not want to accommodate.

    Dear child,
Do you know what we used to hear in our childhood days, all the time from our parents , grand parents and teachers?
” Lowen Ekek Eka Deyakata Wei Samatha”, You have proved to the nation that you are surely not good at being a ‘Politician, Lawyer or a Leader’. So, my advice to you is to get a proper education, a decent qualification and change your lifestyle. Most of all, let go of your ‘EGO’. Best wishes with Metta!

Namal baba why cry now ?

When your father and your uncles with a host of yes men ,were going on a rampage, throwing people out of their homes on to the street ,forcibly taking over other peoples properties, blocking the right to water for the people, the carnage that they did for the muslim people who were forced to WATCH their houses burning, and many many more wicked actions, with the Bodo Bala Ravaya and the other racists groups,is it not Karma that you and your family are going through?
This will not stop until you reap what you have sown.
If My3 and his team too sow discord then it is the same fate for them too.
They will have to wait for their harvest, good or bad , which is sure to come.
    There is ONE Almighty.

Remember that woman Sndya Eknaligoda, who together with her two sons were pleading your farther to investigate and reveal the fate of her hasband Prageeth Eknaligoda?. Remember how your Mohan Peris and that lunatic MP of your party from Negombo ridiculed this poor woman’s plead in public. Your up bringing did not allow you to tell your farther that at least for the sake of those two kids to conduct a genuine investigation into Prageeth’s disappearance. Now, put yourself in the place of those two kids for a moment, of course compared to their lost you loose nothing. So be happy

Don’t mention the name Ekneligoda. You wouldn’t if you knew basic Sri Lankan history.

Isn’t it an irony of fate that this ‘e-journalist’ is hiding in France, after trying to hand over the country to foreign colonialists.

He seems to have inherited the bad blood of his ancestor the notorious Ekneligoda Mohottala who plotted with Ahelepola to hand over Sri Lanka to the British in 1815. He was also the uncivilised animal who tore off the ear of Sri Wickrema Rajasinghe and stole all is jewellery after his illegal “arrest” at Mada Mahanuwara.

Such impure people are provoking the government and omplaining about human rights abuses these days just get asylum in the West.

Look at Frederica Jansz, Sonali Samarasinghe and hundreds of others who are beginning to trickle back to the country.

      Traitors!

All members of this Rajapaksa family are fools. They have heads but do not have brains. Thus, they acted foolishly, making beautiful Sri Lanka a hell for the ordinary citizens. This lead to their downfall. I do know that Namal’s uncles Gotabhya and Basil have below average intelligence. Students who were at Ananda College hostel during the 60s will remember that they were not at all academically inclined. None of the Rajapaksas except Gotabhaya passed the GCE(O L) but a couple became lawyers through the back door. It is no wonder that the Rajapaksas mismanaged the country’s affairs. They are not fit even to run a small boutique. The whole family is not cultured. They are not honest. They are a bunch of rogues who have ruined Sri Lanka. Namal is an idiot. That is why he has written to Colombo Telegraph to get the sympathy of the English speaking people. However, what he gets is totally the opposite.

News item just released says that the new president Maitripala Sirisena has signed an agreement with Mahinda Rajapaksa(MR) letting Maithripala take the presidency of the SLFP without any contest from MR, ON CONDITION that Maithripala does not initiate any inquiry against Namal Rajapaksa. What people want at this juncture is not letting these rogues get away just because of the presidency of a political party.

Namal, you have the audacity now to put on a face of a brave patriot who is fighting to save his supporters. Dont even try to give us this crap to win sympathy and to make out that you are a fine young man with principles. When your despotic father and uncles were in power they murdered, abducted, threatened, used violence, tortured, pilfered, robbed and behaved like the whole country belonged to them and they could do whatever they wanted. Any one who was critical and expressed dissent for the way the country was governed was subject to intimidation, harassment and treated in the most inhumane and sordid manner. It looks like you have got Mahindapala’s disease of memory loss. You just wait until all the terrible crimes that were committed by your despotic father and family are investigated and legal action taken to put you criminals behind bars for the rest of your life. No point in your trying to win sympathy and showcase your self as a noble person who is prepared to take the punishment pleading that your supporters be spared. Let me assure you that everyone one of you who has carried out these dastardly deeds including your supporters will have to face true, pure, unadulterated justice which the citizens of this country are clamouring for. You righty deserve to have a long stay in prison with your criminal friends. Wish you and your family many nightmares to keep you in a constant state of guilt until you enter the portals of prison life.

When a reporter asked about the night races , your famous reply was that “everyone in asia doing it” remind me of famous quote from Marie Antoinette, that “Qu’ils mangent de la brioche” (“Let them eat cake”).
That comment remind SL people that you arrogant SOB has lost the plot and not fit to govern even a donkey. Can you explain why your youngest brother take southern high way by car with security and enter public buses that avoid people to get in ( from security people) ? And later your father start to hit him ? Is your family got mental issues or just plain stupid?
History will commend what your father and Gotha did to take SL out of terror quagmire but Sinhalese will not forgive your father, what he did to war hero general SF.. Buddhist compassion was not apply here even though you have a terrorist leader, who murdered 600+ police officers in cold blood as a minister.
Luckily Army colonel that you used to send to collect extortion money, quit the army before election and army officer with a Phd is safe working for a bank. I told him to quit early since he is a bright fellow and stop working for crooked kids.
You and your brothers are nothing but cheap crooks that has no taste or class, stay low and eat humble pies or some one will take you and parasitic brothers out of the picture for good… That will be, what I called Karma.
If SL know what your family has done in terms of financial fraud there will be no place for you to hide. Stealing from poor on a waste scale asking for forgiveness is something I could not condone..

Namal, when SF lost the elections to your dad in 2010, in spite of you being 5 years younger then, were you one of them (or was it you) who forced one of SF main organizer or a close supporter – a lady was stripped naked and she was made to walk the street in a town down South. We heard so many stories of rape and pillaging soon after that election whilst the police allowed it to happen as some sort of revelry. Your father did nothing to express his displeasure, except to think that his son had finally gained ‘political’ maturity. Any truth in that story?

First of all you idiot must thank Colombo Telegraph for allowing your response to appear in full.
You are referring to support systems. Is it your disgusting Indika Karunajeewa (disgrace to his late father) Corrupt Cabrall or mad GLP or your Carlton Sports channel.
Remember chum this time no escape. We will probe everything you have plundered. How much money you wasted by making a failed bid to host Commonwealth games. Who are directors of your TV channel. How those directors have become billionaires overnight. What is the magic . You will have to answer to these things my friend sooner. See your good friend Salman is also in trouble again.

Explain whether you really have a British education. Is it not true you were accepted at a moderate college in London because of Niraj Dev’s support and help and you never completed the degree? Is it true that while your father professes to be a village man, he and your mom desperately tried to get you and your brothers either into Oxford or Cambridge and even asked CBK for help?

Thanks for the good you did and you are indeed a political power in Hambantota but it is time to eat humble pie and return the loot. You taking time to write to this paper is a sign of humility.
