The Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) has called on the government to ban the National Shoora Council (NSC) that released a statement earlier this week holding the BBS responsible for the anti-Muslim clashes that erupted in Southern Sri Lanka. The hardline group has justified their demand stating they perceive the NSC as an initial step in a conspiracy to transform Sri Lanka into an Islamic state.
Issuing a statement, the BBS has also urged the Presidential Secretariat to probe into the legal rights that have been exercised by the NSC to identify themselves as a ‘The National Consultative Council’, since the title can only be legally used by a Council that has been appointed by the President.
They claim that a ‘Shoora Council’ is a phrase used to identify the administrative branch of an Islamic state. The BBS therefore claims, the NSC assuming the title of ‘The National Consultative Council’ gives those outside of Sri Lanka the impression that the ‘administrative branch in the Islamic state of Sri Lanka has held the BBS responsible for the violence that broke out in Aluthgama and Beruwala’.
The BBS has gone on to state that they believe the NSC is being funded by a group of foreign states whose larger plan is to absorb Sri Lanka into their map of Islamic states worldwide.
“Therefore, we urge the government to probe into any foreign relations that are being maintained by this NSC as well as to investigate into any funds they receive from foreign countries. . .”
Furthermore, the statement has called upon the government to ensure that laws are drawn up immediately to curb the misuse of official titles to name bogus establishments as it could bring detrimental harm upon the country.
The hardline group has also alleged that extremist Islamic groups and politicians have disrupted a program they recently implemented named ‘Wishwasa Parama Gnathi’ (Trust is the greatest relative) in order to build on communal harmony between Sinhala and Muslim communities in the grassroots level.
“Statements by groups such as the NSC that have held us responsible for the Aluthgama violence needs to be probed in order to check whether they are being promoted through the influence of foreign powers,” the statement reads.
Expressing their anger and objection to the allegations, they have gone on to question the NSC. “On what grounds are they holding us responsible for the attacks? If they value democracy, what right do they have to taint our image through such damaging statements and how ethical are these allegations? Moreover what legal entitlement do they bear to proclaim us guilty for the chaos that erupted in Aluthgama?”
Thereafter the BBS has gone on to condemn the groups that accuse them, stating they are certain that the ‘gates of hell will be open to such groups for the lies they have spoken’ and while adding, “We can only hope that their God will give them a chance to be forgiven through a confession about the lies they have uttered.”

For years there has been friction among the Sinhalese Buddhists and Muslims ,mainly concentrated in Galle ,Beruwela and Aluthgama.
However Darga Town ,Aluthgama has always been a Muslim stronghold and many past events of attacks by the area thugs were successfully everted by the Muslim youths of the area , until the latest military styled well planned attacked was launched with the full open support of the Police and the armed forces ,the youth were in a no match situation ,however when attempts were made to set the mosque a blaze the youth stood the ground and fought back and when the gang was loosing the battle is when the forces arrived in a private vehicle in civilian clothes and shot and killed the three youths in cold blood .as soon as this happened the vehicle quietly rolled over forward toward the gang and asked them to vacate the premises immediately which was done .
How the entire operation was orchestrated, a female masseur was approached to get the first ignition started ,she visited the shop with her child and one of the staff friendly patted the boys head as a common custom in Sri Lanka ,this was enough for the accomplice in crime to ignite the flame, she made a hue and cry ,the accusation was her little son has been molested by the owner’s brother ,while the patting was done by a sales staff and not the owner’s brother.
The aim was to first eliminate one of the leading Muslim business in town ,was done with complete success .
So who were the real players behind the entire scene ? a good question ,very much like in Colombo incidents Sinhalese Buddhist Businessman with the support of the villagers ,it is time that we stop buying this lovey-dovey often parroted phrase of the cunning Sinhalese Buddhist of Oh we were living in complete harmony as one family ,this is the cover up of their integral jealousy and venom they have been harboring against the Muslims for years.
The entire operation was well coordinated by the Villagers and the ones who carried it out were ex forces and some men who are trained by the forces at the regional BBS Buddhist Police training college in Galle .
The men who were involved in the attack even knew most of the Muslim residents by name even the females by name.
These are the same men who were involved in the atrocities against the LTTE civilians and the rape and murder of the female cadres at the end of the war.
The frequent question is where was the BBS during the war? Of cause it was Bodu Bala Sena General Secretary- Galaboda Aththe Gnanasara who was then [Edited out]
What is sad here is the amount of trust the innocent Muslims had been having towards their Sinhalese neighbors, it was a bit different from black July where even Sinhalese Buddhist women sat on parapet walls like basket women and pointing out Tamil homes, this time it was more sophisticated and well planned , they maintained a fake good relation with their Muslim neighbors and worked discreetly with the BBS.
The booty was shared by the neighbors too.
Muslims must wake up and unite and trust no one.

Actually Galagoda Gandasara’s demand for Banning Shoora Council is perfectly correct as they have no right to talk about Aluthgama Incident as our Jathiye Aadambarakara thatha has already declared that only 3 guys died and destroyed only 153 odd properties and incident was too small to appoint presidential commission. Also Shoora Council has no right ask BBS to complain to IGP, Mr. Illangakoon if they have any information about Muslim extremist Groups. Shoora or Shura is an Arabic word for “consultation”. The name Shura is mentioned three times in the Koran. The verse 3:159 makes direct reference to those who disobeyed Muhammad. And that indicates not all Muhammad’s followers agree with him on everything. Muhammad knew losing them would hinder his effort conquer new lands. And he knew consultation not Allah’s commands would win over such fallible or hopeless people.
So, in poured Allah’s order that commanded Muhammad to be shrewd and consult the fallible. And the verse 3:159 says: “Thus it is due to mercy from God that you (Muhammad) deal with them (fallible and hopeless Muslims) gently, and had you been rough, hard hearted, they would certainly have dispersed from around you; pardon them therefore and ask pardon for them, and take counsel with them in the affair; so when you have decided, then place your trust in God; surely God loves those who trust.”
Following the footsteps of Muhammad, they say that the first four caliphs after Muhammad were chosen by shura. Nevermind they were chosen by Shura, the third caliph was killed by allies of the son of the first. And he was murdered by the fifth caliph a few years later, then wrapped in the skin of a dead donkey and burned. Somehow three of the first four Muslim rulers (caliphs) were murdered. Fourth caliph Ali was stabbed to death. Since Ali was sidelined at the outset, Shia Muslims do not choose leaders by shura but direct from Allah through lineage of Muhammad.
Whether chosen through Allah’s Shura or Allah direct, infighting between Muslims couldn’t be stopped after Imam Ali’s tenure as caliph. Muslims started fighting each other, infighting turned out to a civil war. Power was eventually grasped by the Umayyad caliphs and then by the Abbasid caliphs. There were also rival caliphates in Egypt and Al-Andalus (Spain). Later the rulers of the Ottoman Empire inherited the caliphate. Then Ottoman Caliphate Was officially dissolved by newly founded Grand National Assembly of Turkey in 1924. So Muhammad had changed his opinion sometimes on the advice of his followers.
All Islamic countries (dictatorships) have to recognize that God and not the people are sovereign. Real Shura councils is meant for them. Even al Qaeda’s has a shura council. Its senior member Abu Khalil al Madani has issued audio message advising jihadist groups in Syria on the need to stop infighting between them and how to make success of Jihad. The ISIS however have rejected these efforts.
Turkey, though Muslims are the majority, is a secular democracy. Hence original shura has no use for Turkey. But most Muslim majority countries name at least one of their assemblies the shura council.
What BBS says is true, Sri Lanka’s ‘National Shoora council’ masquerading as an official body of Sri Lanka has one aim that is to deceive the world at large.

Last week or so The Shoora Council issued a statement that if there are extremist, Jihadis, Muslim Terrorists or Al Queda operatives then those who make those accusations should go to the IGP and handover proof and evidence.
This week the BBS wants the Shoora Council Banned.
