“BBS Should Be Dealt With Prevention Of Terrorism Act” Says President BASL

“The extremist Buddhist group, Bodu Bala Sena has clearly violated the Prevention of Terrorism Act and other relevant sections of the Penal Code” the President of Bar Association of Sri Lanka, Upul Jayasuriya told Colombo Telegraph.

Upul Jayasuriya said; “It is said that several arrests have been made by the police. It could be 41 or 44. It is not important. They are the tip of the iceberg. It is the duty of the authorities to apprehend those who instigated them at a public rally making inflammatory speeches. These speeches are now in the public domain and on you tube. The hate speeches they made publicly are horrendous. It is known that several responsible people pleaded with the Police not to allow them to hold such public meeting making hate speeches violating provisions of the Prevention of Terrorism Act and other relevant sections of the Penal Code. Instead they were given Police protection. They were unperturbed. We have brought this situation to the notice of the Hon. The Attorney General by way of two appeals dated 20th may and 4th June. These appeals were of no avail.”

“These persons should be dealt with in accordance with these provisions irrespective of their political clout. All are equal before Law. No one is above the Law. No one can be treated in a special manner with immunity. They cannot be provided with immunity or state protection.” he further said.

Now who is going to hang the bell on the cat.?
Because the cat is the pet project of the 2 big bosses.

As had been going on for last few years nobody would dare to challenge BBS. UNP apologized BBS for BBS breaking into Sirikotha. BBS beat Vijitha Thera for crossing the line.

      What could BASL do?

The obnoxious PTA is designed to arrest, assault, rehabilitate, hold in detention indefinitely & “white-van” those who ‘do not toe the line’,
complain of injustice and support UN/International probes into violations of human rights.
It is “enforced” by Gota and his murderous minions selectively as each occasion justifies it.
Many thousands are languishing in secret and not-so-secret prisons.
The Militant Monks are ‘sacred cows’ whom the PTA exempts, unofficially.
Their followers too cannot be arrested for any acts.
A high powered “Commission” is yet to determine who shot 27 Welikada Prisoners dead, though there were dozens of witnesses – the BASL has not queried this yet.

Can anyone expect justice for the people from a country that has no rule of law and has become an anarchic failed state? This is why International humanitarian law is applicable to bring regimes of failed states to before international courts as in the case of Myanmar. We are a disgrace and a liability to the entire international community. Not only have be betrayed Buddhism but shown we are a country of savages. Shame to call ourselves not only Buddhists but also Sri Lankan.

The smell of death is everywhere now and the black-suited vulture fraternity of Huftsdorp has just woken to the prospect of making tons of filthy money through long-drawn, perennially postponed cases in the name of the victims. Upul J has just found his voice and has now chosen to speak on behalf of all his crafty vulture colleagues. Money, money, money is the name of the game.

If you are a group that is interested in law and order, get your members to protest by staying away from the courts for a prolonged period to time until Ganasara Thero is arrested.

    respected sir,
you know very well PTA was meant for minorities and not to take action against
anti-muslim elements. you know what happened to azaath sally. your appeal to the authorities are well and fine. it is for record and future writers on ‘2014 anti-muslim riots’. anyway we are happy that there are people and organi. like yours. the right thinking powerless people are really happy. i can remember during 1983 pogrom this sort of responses came very late. it was narasimmarao who came immediately.

This man’s main discussion point is the proscribing and taking legal action against the BBS.

But there are many problems in the legal profession in Sri Lanka today. I would suggest that the legal profession in Sri Lanka is one of the professions who does not observe any kind of professional ethics and codes. The legal profession in Sri Lanka is like a mifia organisation and its members are sucking the blood out of poor citizens of Sri Lanka when these poor citizens go to resolve the legal matters. The legal court cases are dragging on for years and years.

It is hightime that this man put the legal prfession in order before he talks about proscribing the BBS.

” The legal profession in Sri Lanka is like a mifia organisation and its members are sucking the blood out of poor citizens of Sri Lanka when these poor citizens go to resolve the legal matters “

Very true; Every single word you said. This fellow has just opened his eyes to the injustice perpetrated in the Isle of the Dhammapadha. Thotta Baba, he didnt know anything about injustice till then though he and his Lawyer Mudalali friends ripped his helpless victims all these days. These lawyer scum should rot on earth even before they get to hell.

Before we arrest Gnanasara we should arrest the IGP for allowing the hate speech fiesta in Aluthgama.

Before we arrest the spineless IGP we must arrest the Attorney General for not instructing the police to maintain law and order.

Before we arrest the ingratiate Attorney General we must arrest the whole murderous Rajapaksa regime for orchestrating anti minority hatred.

    Bloody good idea.

Country needs the Prevention of Terrorism Act reintroduced ASAP.

There are three good reasons now , Gopi, BBS and the plot to assassinate the Defence Sec.

BASL boss should get this plea signed by his political boss Mr Ranil Wickremasinghe, so that the Lady Ambassador and Rankin won’t lodge a protest.

Let’s try and understand what upul is trying to say.

BASL has already complained to the Attorney General as far back as 20th May and 4th of June 2014. Unfortunately
Attorney General has been sleeping over it. When these a Criminals are backed by the highest if the land and his Gestapo Commander Gotabaya from whom even the Attorney General is taking orders Lawyers alone can not do much if the Attorney General had done what he had to do under the Law and discharged his duty, this fearful situation would not have arisen..

What is the role of the Civil Society? Those of us who even criticise those who say some thing against these Criminal elements fearlessly and direct the powers that be to do what they have to do all that we do is criticise those who stand up to it publicly and try and kill the messenger!

Wake up man, before you criticise the others think and say truthfully what have you done rather than being a hurrah boy with arms folded and sleeping at home?

    Mr. Upul Jayasooriya:

You are too lenient with Sinhala buddhists.

Martial Law is the only answer.

That is what we said before our IGP is still looking for legal Provisions to arrest Hate speakers. but not this “prevention of Terrorism Act”. This Act is there to arrest only Opposition members, Tamils, Muslims and University Student thugs unarmed protesters. Our IGP knows every word of this Prevention of Terrorism Act but still he is searching for an Act of “Prevention of State Terrorism Act” to arrest BBS(pvt) ltd Chairman, Gaanu 5 Bebadu Gandasara. Someone has to remind IGP that there is no such Act existing in Sri Lanka.

How can it ever happen? The Big question is whether the BBS is a part of government or vice versa?

At last some sense from the BASL. The PoTA has it’s uses and should be strengthened, and not repealed as had been the demand from many a source. Hate speech (and acts) on religious, ethnic or racial grounds should be covered in order to bring a semblance of law and order to the country. It is quite obvious that the Sri Lankans cannot be trusted to behave sensibly without such laws.

This could have been prevented, and nipped in the bud, had our incompetent but devious rajapaksa brothers did their duty to this country, and stopped these terrorists months ago, when they kept making hate speeches, and attacking places of worship belonging to Muslims and Christians.

They have a selfish agenda, that is why they keep kissing up to this fat BBS thug, and opening terrorist headquarters. We all know the rajapaksa’s are a corrupt family, that is why over 200 family members hold the highest posts in this country. Nepotism is ugly in Sri Lanka.

Rajapaksa mentality is really the same as the BBS thug, they all lie and make trouble.

Mr. Jayasuriya, BBS has committed no offense under the Mahinda Code of Law. Besides, the BBS is the Sacred Cow of the family!
