Chandrika Exposes Mahinda Rajapaksa Lock, Stock And Barrel

Former President Chandrika Kumaratunga exposed as to how her immediate successor former President Mahinda Rajapaksa had demanded and received bribes from Chinese companies.

Chandrika Kumaratunga

Chandrika Kumaratunga

In a candid interview named ‘Sambhasana’ aired by the Independent Television Network on the 8th of November 2016, the former president Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga stated as to how her immediate successor and former President Mahinda Rajapaksa demanded monies to the value of 50% from all six projects she had signed with the Chinese government prior to her departure from office.

She also stated that the Chinese Ambassador personally visited her at home in Colombo and complained that all six projects such as the Norochchali Coal Power Plant, Magampura Hambantota Port, Nelum Pokuna Theatre and the Katunayake Airport Highway were in danger of not going ahead due to the demands made by the Rajapaksa led government.

The former President CBK citing an example said “After much scrutiny our government had found the best experts in China to complete the Norochchalai Coal Power Plant Project for US $ 280 million. However after Mahinda Rajapaksa took over office he had got down the contractors from China and demanded 50 % of that value from them. They said that it was impossible to part with that kind of money as even they were making only 25% profit from the project. He asked them to then ”get out’ and the signed contract and project was terminated. The Mahinda Rajapaksa led government then signed a new contract to the value of US $ 520 million with an unknown and inexperienced company in handling such projects. These are the reasons as to why even today we are having problems with the Norochchalai Coal Power Plant”.

The former President in her hour long interview also covered several topics such as the disappearance and murders of Lasantha Wickrematunge and Prageeth Ekneligoda. Besides expressing her displeasure in the slow manner that the investigations were ongoing she also went on to express her dissatisfaction in the manner that even the exhumed skeletal parts of Wasim Thajudeen were handled.

According to our diplomatic sources the Chinese diplomatic community in Colombo are currently not happy with Kumaratunga’s revelations. ( By Janaka Ranaweera )

    Where are you?

What was Champika Ranawaka doing during the negotiations?

Was he sleep writing his books?

Like many others, I am relying on you further information (on Patali’s role in this sordid affair, he was in bed with MR).

You are wrong , CBK had done every thing possible to stop MR , initially She refused to offer the premiership for MR as her favourite was Lakshman Kadi , when the Helping Hambanthota scandal came out , she directed it to the Judiciary ;conversely , MR has had the luck to overcome all the hurdles , rest is history.Even now CBK coming out and spilling the beans is a timely action ;accordingly, all the necessary publicity about MR’s duplicity can be reached to ignorance masses.

Why not, she was no given time to express herself during last few years.

Today Mahinda has been making every efforts to create new form of hatreds among the folks. That mangalarama issue is hyped up because of his visit paid to the place after the Incumbent President failed to do so. That Monk is a proved thug – the message he sends across the globe is not the real picture of SINHALYAA THAT WOULD DO ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING TO RECONCILE THE NATION.

The kind of low level AGGRESSIVE men hidden in Safron robes have been abused by Rajaakshe Nationalists today. All these should be made very clear to the nation, since people are mixed with thoughts being aired by VARIOUS news media instituions.

That was the Standard Operating Practice (SOP) of the Rajapaksa and Cronies, for large and small deals.

True Cost of Project Approc $280 Million

      Rajapaksa Profit Mark-up, $240 Million.

      Total Project Cost = $280 Million + $240 Million = $ 520 Million

Gotabaya Rajapaksa Mark up the MIG Deal 100%, from $7.5 Million Per plane to 15 Million per plane for a total take of $7.5 x 4 = $ 30 Million.

Lasantha Wickramatunga was exposing this and was killed. Ekliyagoda was also exposing and killed as well.

By the way, what is the Turncoat, Traitor Gna Sirisena doing these days? Trying to get his hands on the above loot?

Surely there is a world market pricing on all these items and projects???
So cant we have some figures from the people who know.
Though CBK coming out so late in the game to spill the beans makes one wonder whats realy going on amongst these politicians. Pehaps we need a local Trump from outside the usual trash. Gotha??????

This is not surprising. They had a bad habit of taking commissions, and it was not small amounts, from the looks of it.

How can this family who started with nothing, end up with so much of wealth, luxury cars, and with money laundering, most probably owns real estate all over the world. Dubai seems to be one of these nations.
We have had crooked leaders before, and will have them again, but this family seems to have ripped off this country big time, father, mother, sons, mother’s brothers, and everyone connected to these criminals.

They question is who is going to do anything about it? How about holding them responsible for their crimes?

RITA WHAT IS SURPRISING IS THAT THESE PEOPLE WHO HAVE GIVEN THESE BRIBES HAVE NOT COME FORWARD TO SAY THEY HAVE GIVEN THE BRIBES TO RAJAPAKSES. THE ONES THAT COME FORWARD WITH THESE ALLEGATIONS ARE HIS ARCH RIVALS AND POLITICAL ENEMIES. DONT YOU FIND THAT PUZZLING?

“RITA WHAT IS SURPRISING IS THAT THESE PEOPLE WHO HAVE GIVEN THESE BRIBES HAVE NOT COME FORWARD TO SAY THEY HAVE GIVEN THE BRIBES TO RAJAPAKSES.”

Are they stupid like you to disclose it?

Would they have gained anything from the disclosure?

In fact bribing the politicians to get the contract was illegal in the first place. And the contract signed between the state and the contractor would become null and void.

They supplied the worst low-quality plant to subsidise the cost of bribe. The contractor in a proper court of may have to pay back the full cost including the bribe, but compensation and serve sentence.

Are they stupid enough to confess and voluntarily go to prison?

      • 2
        1

Come on Sarojini surely you are not naive enough to think these establishments who have given commissions and bribes, are going to disclose how much and admit to it? That will be the end of their businesses, and they will always be looked upon with suspicion. It is always easy to blame rivals and political enemies for everything, but most of the time there is no smoke without fire. Nepotism leaders to corruption, and one members covering up for the other. Collectively this family must have syphoned off billions of rupees, and it is all stashed away nicely somewhere in this big world.

    14

SO, if CBK knew, what she did not expose it at that time and kept quiet. Why she did not go to FCID ?

FCID Boss was appointed by the Constitution council which CBK was heading. FCID Boss – the lady who headed it, was chasing Rajapakses and they did not find anything yet.

Gotabaya Rajapakse accused CBK corruption in buying fighter jets during CBK’s time. CBK did not talk a word about it and kept silent.

How does CBK has houses in exclusive neighbourhoods in London ? How can see sell some acres and do everything in London ? London is one of the most expensive cities in the world.

If CBK knew everything, Why Mangala Samraweera sent Tranaparency International Lawyer every where in the world but did not find anything ? Are they dumb tgo talk every thing in open and look for the hiding place ?

    • 11

Simply CBK would have disappeared in a while van. That’s why she was in a self-exile soon after MR came to power.

If she had opened her mouth then, Madam would have ended up inside a White Van, or faced an accident like Thajudeen!

The difficulty in catching the rogues is partly due to a judiciary and an AG’s Department packed with MR lackeys…they will do anything to keep the old system alive. Yahapalanaya cannot get rid of them when hiring and firing is based on the rule book.

      • 4
        5

Not only Rajaakshe men would have let missing the body parts the way they did with Sportler Wasim Thadjudeen.
We know who Rajakashes are .. and foor what their expertise have been. Sarojinie or clay eating crocodiles will never sense it. That was not overlooked, if one had a little brain to see it right.

Ballige putha Rajaakshes have damaged entire sinhalaya image. Until the man is appointed, no any other presidents thought to harm own nation that manner. Telling the world someting else, ballige putha siblings killed mountains of civil folks whose lives could have been saved if the targets were focused properly. Alone for the the man et al should be hung.
Then only this country people as one nation could go forward.

I really don know what the current regime does.

I thought immeidately the men were appointed, the first we are going to see is – Rajapakshe in jumpers.

Today even that convicted multi criminal Duminda Silva is notshown in Jumper, but Rajaakshe ballige putha allowed former Army commander war won commander s pictures to be published him in prisoner jumpers. All these should come on the Rajaakshe men sooner than later.

I work in Sri Lanka but I have few clients in London and from around the world. So now you know somebody employed in Sri Lanka and has properties in exclusive neighborhood in London. I personally know many other Sri Lankans who are based in Sri Lanka have houses in Holland Park.

Because somebody has houses in exclusively neighborhood doesn’t mean, that person accepts bribes.

Read the analysis of Prof Thevarama in CT
    (https://www.colombotelegraph.com/index.php/the-story-of-red-traffic-lights/)
“As the counts were being reported, and we were all getting excited about a military coup, a deal was struck. Signed and sealed in the early hours of January the ninth: “will go without a fuss, protect the Royals!” That a year and a half after that mini revolution, the longest to be held in remand prison is the former Eastern rebel Pillaiyan should be proof enough to anyone doubting that there was indeed a deal.”

At some level, they (the political class, according to the Prof) are all in it together. They behave in the same way. Just the colours little bit changing…

    A revealing and forthright interview.

We the Sri Lankan voters should be very proud to have achieved the unthinkable by performing a near miracle by peacefully voting out the most despotic, corrupt and barbaric Leader of Sri Lanka, inspite of an election that was conducted by breaking most laws and harnessing the State owned media and funds of Public institutions to bolster his campaign and image. This Despot, his family and henchmen are responsible to have driven the country bankrupt. It is the bounden duty of this Regime to ensure those Offenders are brought before the law of the Land and be held accountable for their actions and mis-deeds and justice meted out accordingly. This is not by any means an easy task.

No other future regime can be as bad as the last one. So, we the Sri Lankan voters have to ensure this despot, his family and henchmen can never rule the Land again.

For him, 10 years at the helm appears not long enough although the people have rejected him at the polls. He appears to yearn for more power! If he has one thing to learn from the American election, it is that the defeated candidate allows the victorious candidate to Govern. Although Clinton won the popular vote, she lost the election. I have not heard her say that she needs to represent those who voted for her and thus prevent Trump from executing his Agenda. On the contrary she has extended her support to him.

Now the Madam says it was 50 % of the total cost of the Six Chinese projects.

All of which she put in place.

Wonder what that Chinese Ambassador in Ward Place has to say about this 50 % ?.

Chandrika is no saint, but despite the efforts by Rajapaksa supporters to demonize her and blur the message, we should keep in mind that many time there is always some truth to such allegations. People who are guilty have a way of attacking the messenger, so that the accusation are overlooked and blurred. The Rajapaksa regime, the entire family, from the top to family members like the Sri Lankan airlines Chairman, to Jaliya the rogue Ambassador in the US, have all been caught with their hands in the cookie jar – so chances are high that the top man, the sons who wear luxury watches, belts and shoes, would have made hay too.

All politicians are in the same level of corruption. Some make it big and same make it small but they all make it by cheating the foolish voters. In spite of all this allegations, if MR were to contest a Presidential Election the foolish voters will not hesitate to caste their votes to him because this is the SL voters mentality “vote and get screwed left right and center” and We SL’s love getting screwed by the high and mighty.
BTW all these political crooks are firmly protected by the current regime headed by MS and RW.
As we all know (or may not know) RW is power hungry and MS is trying to keep the wolf (RW) away from his door.
Take my word, nothing is ever going to happen to anyone from the previous regime
nor is any “robbed” money ever going to come in to the country because those who are now running the show are themselves corrupt to the core.
But be prepared for the big talk while all dirt is swept away under the carpet.

What is the use of all this now, after the burden is now laid on us through taxes and special levies to settle exorbitant interest on those ill-conceived Chinese loans. These types of massive embezzlements of country’s resources should have been brought to light at first instant when opportunities became possible. It should have also been supported with recorded or sufficient evidence to prove the case. No one takes you seriously now, nor did they when you held sway, due to your infamous drinking bouts which made you famous as whisky madam. There is nothing that is of interest now to close the gates after the horse has bolted. That was a serious matter and at least when the contract was amended in the way it was said to be, CBK should have come out wit the story. She could have said it at least when there were the first few serious breakdowns; or when Rajapaksa was out of power.
If she felt insecure she inform anyone more willing to take the risk about the shady going-ons so that something could have been done to alert the public.

She enabled Rajapaksa to secure SLFP nomination as presidential candidate even after the Tunami funds scandal surfaced.
What is at stake is not so much the credibility of the story but the purpose of ‘leaking’ it so late in the day.

It is high Time this traitorous woman kept her mouth shut. She once said that she did not like to be called a Sri Lankan, so she should keep it that way, stay out of Sri Lankan politics and live happily in the UK in her majestic home over there. Sri Lanka should consider GROBR (get rid of bad rubbish).

Are you defending the Chinese (interest in our country) by nitpicking over the timing of the disclosure?

It is for the state machinery to go after Chinese contractor and MR. A word of caution, the files may go walkies.

CBK is not clean either. Remember how she pilfered the Tsunami funds.

All Sri Lankan politicians are rogues. Corrupt to the core. Even the Yahapalanaya lot have proven to be supreme con artists.
